You get the cab steps and not bars on the SuperCrew. They look like what is on the Expedition however, they are not lighted. I myself prefer the cab steps for my young kids. Not likely to slip off or through with the solid steps as they are with the bars. They are the full length of the cab.
Woody and Mjohn, I have been sporadic lately. Work has been a bear. Good to hear ya'll are enjoying the trucks. Mjohn, I actually haven't heard the wind noise in several weeks. I read in another thread that sometimes it takes a while for weather stripping to seal properly. Hopefully that was it. Anyway it only happened at 75 mph and into a very strong head wind.
Still haven't made any mods to my truck. Called DFW Camper and they have a hard Tonneau for the SuperCrew. Want $750 for it. May go the Soft Tonneau and LineX instead. Planning on a grill guard as well. Keep in touch.
For the message sender wanting to know about the X Plan being a good deal or not. I will be purchasing my 150 through the A Plan which is through the employees. This plan allows each employee to purchase up to six vehicles per year at 2% below invoice, plus any rebate still applies (of course none now on the new 150 crew). You have to be a family member but 2% below invoice tells you what your plan really is worth. Also does anyone have any comment on the use of a fifth wheel with such a short distance between wheel center line and cab? Ron in MO
kh so what is the invoice for a 4x2 lariet supercrew with everything except the moonroof and the cd-changer. if you dont mind me asking what was your total drive out. i live in san antonio and i am looking for the best deal.
I am loking to purchase a supercrew 4x2 lariet 5.4 with everything except the moonroof and the cd-changer. Has anyone had a good experience with a particular dealer in San Antonio that they would like to share. I would lke to hear some actual numbers. Thanks
looking to buy nerf bars and hard tonneau for my super crew. Anyone got any good deals in the area? would appreciate e-mail or board response asap! thanx all --
Thanks for all the great information. After lots of agonizing, I took the plunge and am picking up my SuperCrew today. While I didn't get the great deal some of you got, ($400 over invoice), I still got it for $2,300 off MSRP. Here in Southern California, they don't seem to be dealing all that much. I even called one the dealers another post mentioned and they weren't as good of a deal. It's equipped as follows 4X2 Lariat, Bright red, parchment leather captains chairs, limited slip, moonroof, trailer tow, sliding rear window and six disc c/d.
I'm really looking forward to this evening when I take it home. First long drive will be tomorrow.
I ordered my screw on 03.19.00. Obviously haven't received it yet. With a 4 year old daughter and one on the way, 2 weeks from now to be precise, I was concerned about no rear headrests. Ive heard about the clip ons. Can anyone provide a source for them? Has the headrests, or lack thereof been an issue? I believe this vehicle still is safer for my family than the quadcab. Comments please.
150dad Should be no problems as kids this size will either be in cars seats which can be well anchored in the supercrew or will be so short as to not have their heads above the top of the seat back. I have a 8 and a 10 year old and am not worried. The kids LOVE riding in the back. I would be concerned for their safety in the front with the airbag as there is no elective disconnect for the passenger airbag.
Ordered two weeks ago 2001 supercrew 4x4 5.4 v8 P265 tires 3.55 ltd slip 17" rims 6-disc cd chgr. two tone paint captains chairs tow pkg. remote keyless $100 over invoice
I am sniffing hard on the f150 super crew. I really like this truck. I am in the construction business and have dirty feet whenever it rains (no kidding ). I mention this because I like the interior features of the new sporttrac (the explorer with a pick-up bed). It has vinyl instead of carpet and has berber floor mats. Does anyone know if you can order with these items specific or can you just order what's listed in options? Appreciate any help or ideas
Rumdog You can not delete the carpet on the 2001 f150 supercrew. I tried when I ordered mine, but it's not an option. I deleted the carpet on the last two trucks I ordered. They were a lot easier to clean with vinyl. fred59
I'd like to minimize the floating effect that my SuperCrew has over bumps. This is particulary bad at freeway speeds. Would changing the shocks reduce this? If so, what kind should I get? After going over some bumps, the truck seems to rebound several times before settling down. This is my first truck so maybe I'm expecting too much.
Hey everyone, Just turned a 1000 miles today. I can't find enough excuses to drive this truck. To all who are still waiting, you won't be disappointed. mjohn, klloyd I hope you guys are enjoying yours as much as I am.
The lease on my Chevy Malibu is up July 7 and I am looking forward to finally get my truck. I was reading the Pros and Cons from the Edmunds site regarding the F-150 SuperCrew and they listed under cons: "less-than-ideal interior ergonomics." The other issues: smaller cargo box and not having the most powerful engine in its class are not a problem. For those of you who have the SC, any idea what Edmunds means by "less-than-ideal interior ergonomics"? I have always had full-time 4 wheel drive systems - Jeep Grand Cherokee and Subaru Outback -and living in Wisconsin am wondering about the part-time system. There are a lot of days when half the road is icy and the other half is dry as a bone. I am concerned that if my wife(it's always the wife of course)is driving it, she will put it in 4WD for the slippery side of the street. When driving on the dry side she would probably not disengage the system possibly causing damage. Anybody in snow-land have any experience/comments with regards to that?
I've been hearing that Ford is not accepting X-Plan or A-Plan pricing on any 2001 model vehicles including Suprecrew & Sporttrac. Has anyone bought one using one of these plans yet? If so, where? I am located in upstate NY and cannot find a dealer who will offer X-plan pricing for me.
bjohn1225, I purchased mine using the X-plan, but I'm in Cincinnati, Ohio. Probably won't help you much.
In case anyone is interested in an update from my earlier post of an oil leak, it's a head gasket. "Unusual for a truck with such low mileage." is what I was told. The mechanic is considering requesting a whole new engine, but has to hear back from Ford first.
Minimal miles (700) so far but 16.0 - 16.5 with mixed town and country. I have a lot of elevation changes - 3000 feet elevation to go to work and 700 feet every time I go to town so that probably hurts somewhat. (4X4 Crewcab with 4.6L)
akj123, back on post # 270 & 271 there are references to the priority codes. The lower the number the higher the priority. Mine was ordered on 3/22 and I just found out it will be built the week of 5/15.
Does anyone know if the bed extender for the SuperCrew will be available soon? I hate to order a truck to only have it held up because of the bed extender.
vopc advised that the bed extender does not delay delivery. all F150's are being built with inserts to attach bed extender. I've seen them in screws already
alwys18 - I'm considering a Supercrew from a dealer here in Southern California which came from the factory (not a special order) with a bed extender. Arrived last week, so they are definitely building the trucks with the extenders. I have not seen them yet, but I did see a similar version on an Explorer Sport Trac at an auto show in January.
Does any one know what kind of running boards/steps are available through dealerships for the Supercrew? I've seen chrome ones on the truck that look like steps, and I've seen black ones that look like boards (same as Expedition). I much prefer the chrome steps but these might have been after-market.
I have seen 3 Supercrews with the bed extenders in Southern California so I know they are out there.
I hope to buy a Supercrew here in about 2 weeks and have been looking around. I have noticed the cheezy looking black "plastic-ee" step bumpers as well. I would definitely want to replace those. I have a friend with the chrome ones, I will ask him if they came on the truck or where he got them if they were an aftermarket purchase. He has the bed extender on his truck.
I realize many folks aren't as lucky but here in Southern California, all the dealers I've been to have had 20+ Supercrews and each one has had the one I want...the 4X4 Lariat. Our local "one price" dealer has it for $30,154 fully loaded which is $450 over invoice. I'm the type who doesn't like to haggle so I like that price a lot.
I'm just having a hard time pulling the trigger because I've always owned Toyota's. The one time I bought American (86 Chevy Blazer s-10) was not a great experience...not terrible...just not on par with the Toyota's and Honda's I've owned.
k2rider - what dealer is offering you 450 over? The lowest I've found was 300 over if I ordered it, 500 over for a truck on their lot. I agree about Toyota - I like the fit and finish of their vehicles and if the Tundra came in a true 4dr shortbed, I'd be all over it. My first car was a Ford Mustang (1965) which I bought in 1990. Ford is a good company - solid, much better reliability than Chrysler/Dodge, if a little bland in styling and interior stuff. The F-150 is a solid truck, nothing to run screaming down the block about, but decent enough considering what's out there. I really prefer the V8 in the Tundra, and I also prefer the 4.7 V8 in the Dakota Quad. But, all in all, the Supercrew's the best of what's available. I'm not a Chevy guy, even though I own a GM now. Sometimes I worry that Ford builds too fast, too many models, and perhaps includes a little obsolescence in their product line in order to get folks coming back for newer models - heard that from a car racing friend of mine who used to race Ford and Chevy engines.
There is a posting that provides a site which dteremined the 5.4 as one of the best 10 engines in the world. I ordered my Screw several weeks ago. However I am a little nervous as I've never owned a Ford. I have to believe Ford has gotten their act together , as most US manufacturers have, to compete with Toyota, Mitsubishi etc.
Mossy Ford in Pacific Beach has that LOADED 4X4 Lariat that I mentioned in the previous post for $30,154. To be honest with you, it is their "standard" practice to sell at $450 over invoice. I don't know for a FACT that the $30,154 number in actually $450 over but it's a great price...as stated in the post above mine.
Jojuk- thanks for pricing info. Would you happen to have dealer name, address, phone # , and contact person? Also anyone know of a dealer in central Ia. willing to sell at or near invoice? I'm ready to buy,but want a fair deal. thanks!
Looking to order 4 x 2 xlt supercrew with 4.6 engine. Several dealers I've spoken to say delivery will take about six weeks from order date. Is this realistic or should I expect to wait longer than the six weeks?
I live in western NC and there are supercrews on lots here as well, but most are 4x4. Also, car salesman told me I could probably get better deal if I ordered instead of buying off lot. Has this been your experience?
i ordered mine on 03.20..in checking with vopc the build date will be week of may 8th...then the truck is sent to a mixing lot where transportation decides logistics of new vehicles by region...im told to expect my unit 2 weeks AFTER production. and mine was priority 10, the highest.
if ordering a car, i believe you can better negotiate dealer hold back plus ad fees.
I just took ownership of a 2000 Crew Cab Super Duty, I had looked at the SuperCrews, but decided on a SD instead, they are about the same cost, but the super duty has much more room inside. I know it's a personal choice, what ever you decide, good luck with it. www.PictureTrail.com/bowhuntwi
Alwysl8, can you post the name of the sales person at Van Boxtel. Their phone number would also be helpful. It seems you got a great deal and I'd like to order a Super Crew. Thanks!
Just took delivery of my new SuperCrew. I opted for the 2x4 Lariat model. I see a few people here saying they got their SuperCrews for under invoice price....hmmmmmm.... I am not saying you guys are making up stories here, but this IS a 2001 model truck that so far has been difficult to find. Now, maybe things are very different in the midwest, cause out here in California, only in the past few weeks have I seen surplus SuperCrews. Anyway, I bought mine from a very large volume dealer here in southern Cal and I negotiated until I was blue in the face to get my deal, which was $27,825 including dest charge. Mine is the Lariat with the power leather seats, power windows, 6 disc cd changer, rear window, 5.4L V8 engine, 3.55 limited slip axle, trailer tow package (class 3), 2 tone paint, and destination charge was included in that price. Did I do OK? OH, by the way...I LOVE the truck! Its a totally cool ride, and I turn heads all the way to work.
Not that it's the greatest web site in the world or anything (not even close), but I put together a little personal web site about our favorite truck. I've got all the standard and optional equipment lists, pictures of some recently acquired SuperCrews (by friends of mine, since mine is still on order), related links and the details of my order and pricing.
Stop by if you have a chance and drop me a line if you have suggestions or would like me to post a pic of your SuperCrew.
Does anybody out there have the WHITE Lariat with **SILVER** wheel moldings and decals. I could have sworn I had seen one but now every dealer I go to has only GOLD trim on all the Lariats?

What was the name of the dealer in Cincinnati. It might be worth the drive if I can't find anyone local oferring x-plan.
Woody Sanders Ford. I talked to the Fleet Manager, Mike Kaiser. Hope he can help you out.
