I was finally able to see two in person. I checked two dealers around my area and found an xlt and a lariat. Both had Capt. chairs, I must say I liked the leather better. To be able to climb in and check the inside completely, was a relief. I am really going to like this truck! It isn't as large as a superduty, inside, but there is plenty of room front and back. A bonus point, my wife really liked it. At 5'tall, the adjustable pedals are going to work out great for her. I'm 6', and I adjusted the drivers seat to my comfort spot, then climed in the back seat. I had plenty of leg and shoulder room. The cup holders in the back blow the 'Pep boys style' cup holders in the superdutys away. Wasn't able to drive. Soon though, very soon.
Bill1064, do you mind being a little more precise on southern VA. I am in Richmond area and hope to be ordering one in the next couple of months. Any info would help. My e-mail is in my profile if you prefer to do it that way
When you get to the site, go to the Owner's Connection there is an 800 number there, that you can get the status of your ordered truck. All you need is either a VIN # or an Order #. Not to rail anybody and I know it's a personal decision, but when your spending this much money, at least drive a Super Duty Crew Cab before you decide on a F150. You will spend the same on either truck and the Super Duty will have a greater resale price down the road. But then again it's a personal choice.
My guess is mjohn picked up his truck and he just can't quit driving it to come in and tell us how much he is enjoying it.
I gotta tell you guys the more I drive this truck the more I like it. I think it is one fine machine.
Some of my friends have seen the truck now and all the comments have been very positive, of course I wouldn't dog one of my friends new trucks but I really think they like the way it rides and looks. Even one of my hard core Chevy buddies had some very good things to say about it.
Yes I am still here. I've been out of town a few days. No word from the dealer but I will go over after I drop my son at school. The dealer did get some Supercrews in last Friday, but was mine one of them? NOOOOO! I'll let you know. MJohn
Just checked with the dealer and evidently my Supercrew is at the "ramp" and just waiting to be picked up by the dealer. It has been there for a week but due to my dealer not having parking space they put a stop on new arrivals until today. They offered no apologies and just said it will be here later today or tomorrow. Not a very friendly place to do business. MJohn
My dealer delivered mine yesterday, a 2001 F-150 SuperCrew Lariat 4x4, loaded, black/gold. This is one nice truck! Fit and finish excellent, everything works as advertised, excellent ride and power. Getting a rhino-liner tomorrow. Excellent deal from Ron Pollard, internet sales manager, Riverside Ford, Macon, GA.
bowhuntwi:I drove the Superduty CC 4x4 and liked it; however it won't fit in my garage, and I didn't want a diesel, I don't tow enough to justify the V-10, and the 5.4 is too slow in the SD. I don't think the SD will hold its value any better, and even if it does there are many more buyers in the market for an F-150 than the SD.
over on fseries.com ? I saw the description of the truck and thought it too close of a match. If it was you,I would like to see a picture of your truck. Definitely do the scan and stick it in there. Later.
If I remember correctly that meant my truck had been built. The next day the message was waiting to be shipped or something similar. After that the next message was "shipped via rail carrier" which I think means to a staging or consolidation place where other vehicles to your dealer are combined on a truck for delivery. The last message was something like shipped via convoy carrier. My guess probably 2 weeks to delivery. Of course depends on "a full load" of vehicles to deliver to your dealer.
Now is when you get real anxious. You begin to wonder could you just go where it is and drive it home yourself.
My Supercrew is being built next week and just wanted to know if anybody has any info on caps(shells) for the Supercrew. All the places I have called haven't heard anything about the supercrew. Any information would greatly be appreciated.
Also, to the lucky guys that already have or will shortly have their supercrews XLT's 4x4's..... could you please take a picture of your wheels???? I haven't been able to find out what the 17 inch, alum 10 spoke wheels look like. Just wanted to know if they look good. Just can't believe my dealer can't get a picture of what they look like.
Called A.R.E who make a good looking topper called the Z Series. They are waiting for Ford to deliver a truck for them to make/check their fiberglass molds. The sales rep said they didn't think they'd have any Supercrew available until after 1 May. Sorry...I'll wait for this one.
May I ask who you ordered the F150 from in South Carolina for 200 under the invoice. I am going up there this friday and just wanted to see if I could get the same deal. Thanks.
Louis, take a look at fseries.com . They have a picture of the wheels. Go to the message board, supercrew topic. Then the general supercrew topic, then the pictures topic is on the bottom. Good luck. P.S. How in the world did I pass you, as far as build dates?
Finally, the day arrived. It looks great. White oxford XLT with dark graphite cloth interior. Not as fancy as many of yours but fine for me. Runs great. One small paint nick at the rear but they will fix that. It arrived a week ago at the ramp but they overlooked it when they went to pick them up last week. Line-x goes on in the morning and I will probably get some nerf bars later. Are you all having a security system installed? With the microchipped key for ignition my salesman said the only way someone can take it is to tow it. Thanks everyone for your advise and comfort during the ordeal and good luck with all of yours. MJohn
The Line-X on the Supercrew looks awesome. It took them about 3 hours this morning to apply it. Cost was $375 not including tax. The Texas Trick Shop on highway 30 in Mesquite Texas is where it was done for you KLloyd if you want it done or anyone else in the DFW metroplex. The Supercrew is getting a lot of looks and the mailman just stopped me and was asking about it. It fits in the garage with my Suburban. It is about the same length and width as the suburban but about 5 inches taller. MJohn
Any thoughts as to why you selected line-x instead of Rhinoliner. I'm considering the options while waiting for my supercrew to arrive. I'm tending toward Line-X myself as I think it goes on better and is a little harder.
Just from what I have read on the web, you can't go wrong with either one. I liked the Line-X for the look. It has a more fine texture than the Rhino which has a rougher cottage cheese texture. The Line-X is thinner and dries faster than the Rhino and is supposed to hold up better than the Rhino. The salesman rubbed the Rhino against the Line-X and you could see the wear on the Rhino. Of course I'm sure the Rhino guys have their own slant as to why their's is best. There is a pickup forum in Edmunds Town Hall that has a lot of good info about liner's. Good luck. MJohn
Haven't posted since the begining of this topic until now... but I have good news my Lariat 4x2 is here and I will have it sometime later tonight!
I've been so busy with work the last few months I forgot what I even ordered b/c at the time I was debating whether or not to get the Lariat or XLT. I do remember I ordered wedgewood with silver two tone.
I got the Rhino in Mine-dealer only charged me the compact truck rate-$295. It is a rougher texture but cargo is less likely to slide on it. It will scuff but it is doing its job-protecting the bed.
karmannghia: I paid invoice for mine-Riverside Ford in Macon, see Ron Pollard, internet sales manager.
My vopc, jumped from the "foreign assy plant" straight to "shipped by convoy carrier". It seems these things are starting to pick up speed, from what I have read. I put my blazer up for sale, at the beginning of the week. How long after "convoy carrier" do you think I have, before it shows up?
I hadn't even heard of the supercrew until a week ago. I've been debating the replacement for my Expedition for months. Once I found this board, my knowledge of this truck sky-rocketed. I want to say "Thank you" to all who have posted. I went to test drive the "one" supercrew my local dealer had yesterday. It was a white Lariat - what a truck! I wanted something similar to the Expedition in size and performance, but without the price tag. The SuperCrew is the one! The one they had at the dealer didn't have all the options I "needed" (tow package in particular)so they offered to order one for me exactly as I wanted.
This is what I ordered: Lariat Oxford White w/ Parchment interior 5.4 Liter Trailer Tow Limited Slip Moonroof (wife insisted) Cab Steps 6 Disc CD Captains chairs with center console Bed Extender Engine Block heater (cold Chicago winters)
The dealer quoted 6 to 8 weeks, but I'm telling myself to be ready for longer just in case. Didn't get it for invoice - but pretty close - $400 over.
Now I'm trying to figure out what to do to cover the bed. Soft cover? Hard cover? Cap? Since the SuperCrew is a brand new model, I would guess it's gonna be a while before I'll be able to find a hard cover (that's how I'm leaning) for a while.
Do any of you have thoughts on how best to cover the bed?
Sorry for the long post...very excited about the new truck. I feel like you are friends of mine because of your sharing experiences. Thanks again.
Can any of you explain what the vopc is? I assume some kind of tracking number for the order? When does the dealer get the number? As soon as it's ordered? Any info appreciated.
The VOPC is the Vehicle Order Processing Center. It is a system for dealers to check on orders. It has an automated part which can be accessed by consumers- if you know how. There is a site called www.ford-diesel.com that used to have the instructions on their website, but Ford made them remove them. Anyway, You need the dealer code (from the DORA), the order # (from the DORA) and the body code (8243 for 4x4). Call the number and follow the instructions. Follow each entry with the # key. Ignore any letters in the dealer code. Ask your dealer what the body code is if your is a 4x2.
Go to www.ford.com Then go to Owners Connection, Register by using your order number or your Vin #. Then click on contact us, there's an 800 number there....use this, the vOPC has been password protected, because of unauthorized use.
I have yet to see the crew in a 2WD configuration. In the Lariat package, how much lower does the truck sit vs the 4WD? The factory brochure says fog lights on 4WD only, what do they use on the 2WD? I’ve driven a 4WD unit, how does the ride of the 2WD compare? Does the Lariat package get the BFG Long Trail T/As? On another note, does anybody know if the single CD head-unit is the same one used in the optional 6 CD changer package? Or does the 6 CD changer get a premium head unit?
The 2wd sits quite a bit lower and sags in the front. It does ride softer, but the ride of the 4wd is fine. My 4wd Lariat has Goodyear Wrangler ATs. I don't know the answer to your last question, but the sound of the premium AM/FM/cassette with the CD changer is very good. If you get the captains chairs, the changer is in the console where it can be easily accessed. If you get the 60/40 front seat it is located behind the rear seat on the passenger side near the jack.
Dealers in my area are quoting $2,100 over invoice up to full list for a new crew cab. Where did you get the $400 over invoice deal? What have others been getting for prices?
I have definitely been bitten by the crew, but can't get over the price!
"Mazilis", If you don't want to wait for the manufacturers to set up and build specific bedcovers for the Super Crew, hee is a suggestion.I think you could use a Pace Edwards Roll Top for a F-150 Short Bed, and just not extend it all the way back. Should work OK.
Dealer is Westfield Ford in Countryside, IL. They started by offering to take $1000 off the sticker. I am a prior customer there and told them while I realize this new truck is pulling a premium at most places, I wasn't in a rush to buy and would only discuss Invoice plus X. I offered $300 over. The manager came over and said $500 over. Once we got down to the details, we just about split the difference, so I said go ahead and order it up.
BOBH12:
I guess I'm leaning toward the new A.R.E hard cover that will be out in May. I really don't expect the new SuperCrew to be in until late April or into May, so the timing will probably work out.
General:
I heard on another message board that the Bed Extender and the rear seat Audio/Video VHS option are not immediately available options for the SuperCrew so orders are being held up if you chose either of those options. Of course I did order the Bed Extender and am wondering if anyone else heard the same thing. Also, on another web site, I saw a factory installed soft tonneau cover listed as an option - although it was listed as "late availability".
Hey All - great board, as usual. I've been debating between the Dodge Dakota Quad Cab, which I already drove and loved in the 4.7 V8 4x4, or the new Supercew. I finally got to test drive the F-150 yesterday. Dealer (Galpin Ford, near Los Angeles) is supposedly the biggest (by volume) in the whole nation (that's what they say. So they did have 3 or 4 of them on the lot, all in 4x4. I drove a 4x4 Lariat with the bigger V8. Some impressions:
pretty much drives like a F-150 Supercab, but a little better because of the weight distribution with such a big cab and a short box. the 4x4 was a touch bouncy on the freeway and surface streets, but who wouldn't expect that, right? V8 seemed strong and responsive, quiet, efficient - no problem in quick acceleration merging into highway traffic or passing. The area where I thought would be the bigeest pain, parking, actually was not that bad. This truck is pretty nimble, and the turning radius is very good. Steering was okay. A little correction on highway needed and it didn't track dead center. but compared to most Chrysler products (can you say Jeep GC) it's negligible.
As for the interior, Ford has really done their homework. I'm only 5'7" on a good day, so those pedal extenders, which raise or lower the gas and brake pedals up to 3", are amazing. I could kick way back and just tap the switch (very conveniently located driver's side left, just under the wheel) and bam - I was set. Also the driver's seat has all kinds of adjustments for height, lumbar, etc. all power in the Lariat. Back seat has tons of room, although I liked the Dodge flip up option a little better than Ford's solution, which fold forward and semi-flat like an SUV or a wagon.
Other neat touches: windows can be raised and lowered even with main power off (as long as the doors are closed), and the radio can be adjusted to be raised or lowered (volume) according to your speed. Goes up on the noisy highway, comes down on the surface streets, etc.
Controls seem a bit sharper and better placed than the Dodge, re radio, 4x4 transfer case switcher up off the floor and on the driver's console. Although Ford doesn't offer the radio/CD controls on the steering wheel like the Dodge.
Overall, I'd say this truck rocks pretty hard. It's an F-150 (for those who have driven or owned them). Not a whole lot of deviation from the line that has been the best selling vehicle in the country for like 30 years or something, save for the added cab space and shortened bed space. BTW: regarding the bed - it's not that bad! It's 5 1/2 feet and it's still very functional. bed extender should help if you work in construction and need to haul lumber etc.
WOODY24: what was that dealer you ordered from here in So Cal? Galpin was telling me these babies are going off at 1k or 2k OVER MSRP. I see all you guys talking about 200 under and 400 over and I'm like: is it just cuz I live in the most populous county in the nation, LA, where dealers have tons o' fish to fry?????
Thanks for bearing with this long post: finally, if anyone out there has driven the Dodge Quad Cab and the F-150 supercrew I'd love to compare notes - I still can't make up my mind!
It's good to hear from you. It's not good to hear the dealers are already raising the prices. The dealer who gave me $250. over invoice was, the fleet manager at Lew WEbb,s Ford in Garden Grove. His name is James Abercrombie. So far he's been a straight forward guy. I'm expecting mine next week or the one after, hopefully sooner. On a different note, hey mjohn and klloyd, did you guys forget about us? How's life with the new addition in your family? later.
asta, another note. Lew Webb hasn't gotten any in yet. I know I drive by every day. They might not fry anyone, not having any on the lot. Food for thought.
woody24: very cool on that referral. Can I use your name from the board if I decide to contact Lew Webb's in Garden Grove? I doubt I'm going to find anything better than $250 over invoice (unless I fly to south carolina for $200 under! ) I think you'll be very happy with your supercrew when it comes in. I did love the Dakota Quad Cab test drive I can't get the Ford out of my mind! Kinda like seeing an insane hotty when you've already got a girlfriend (guilty as charged) and not wanting to let her slip away.
BTW: did you check out Ford of Orange by any chance. A lady named Shawn at that dealership has been in contact with me about the new supercrews (if you wanna do a test drive before yours comes in) and she seems pretty straightforward, although we have not talked price at all as of yet.
Asta, I think 'themacguy' gave a good comparison of the Dodge QC vs the Supercrew back in post #187. I've been torn between which to buy, too, but after driving them both I've gotta say that the Supercrew has won me over. There's no question that the Dodge handles great and is a lot of fun to drive, but to me the Supercrew is just superior (yeah, about $10k superior). Its far more plush inside (especially the Lariat), particularly the seats which are far more comfortable then the Dodge's rather 'thin' seats. It has excellent accelleration and breaking power (maybe that's because I've been driving an Albatross, aka, Tahoe for the past 4 years) and certainly has more room in the front and rear of the cab compared with the Dodge QC. I test drove a Supercrew a week ago and really put it thru its paces and that was it, I was sold.
FYI in the Denver market, I was at a dealership last week who, due to obvious limited supplies, was adding a $3k market adjustment to its Supercrews making the asking price for a Lariat +$37,000! So I worked with an auto broker (which I've never done before) who found me a Supercrew, Lariat trim with Harvest Gold paint and all the bells & whistles that was still in the "port" (whatever that is) and hadn't arrived at the dealership yet. He ended up getting me $1,100 off the MSRP and although I could probably get a better deal later in the year, I caved in and said "Buy it!" (the broker also helped me get rid of my Albatross at a good price, too). So in less than a week's time, I fell in love with a Supercrew, found the exact model I wanted, and I'll be driving it home tomorrow after work (yes, I had a good week last week.) Of course, I'm not in it yet, and I guess something could throw a kink in my plans, but I guess I'll know tomorrow! Will keep you posted...
I was wondering what dealerships are selling these vehicles around invoice, I have a dealer in that will sell to me for 1750 over invoice but would like the names/mumber/location of any dealerships willing to sell for less in the southeast (I live in Montgomery,AL).
Also, does anyone know if I can load up an ATV in an F-150 Supercrew...will the tailgate support the weight and will the tailgate extender keep it in the truck? The ATV is a Honda 400, approximately 75 inches long. Any help on these issues will be greatly appreciated!
nicely done comparison. I agree with your sentiments about sport utility vs. plain ol' utility. The Ford does sit pretty high, especially in the 4x4 model, and rides much bigger and heavier than the QC. It's funny but after driving the Ford I was like, wow, this is awesome. I was seriously ready to go for it. Now after reading your comparison, I'm missing that little QC and the 4.7 V8. It rode amazingly quiet for a truck. In fact, it didn't even ride like a truck, and that was with the bed empty in the 4x4 trim! The supercrew is, of course, a truck. No mistaking that. Although I really prefer Ford's interior touches to Dodge, which seem spartan. I actually had to measure my garage space to make sure the Ford would fit, and it does, but just barely. Which do you think would be the more agile and quicker off-road. My vote is the Dak. I guess the thing about the Supercrew is because the bed is the same size as the Dak's (give or take) I still don't think of the supercrew as a "full-size" pickup. Therefore I was wanting it to ride lighter, quicker, and more nimbly, like the Dakota. Sounds like I'm suddenly leaning toward the QC, huh?
Better go drive both of 'em one more time ot make sure.
clysdale1: congrats on your supercrew buy. Sounds like a definite winner. when you say autobroker do you mean somebody on-line to help you out? Does he charge you a fee aka a percentage of the purchase price?
Asta, the broker I used (HM Brown) has offices in the Denver area and I don't know if they are available where you are, but they do have a web site (hmbrown.com) if you want to check out the services they offer; if they don't service your area perhaps there are other brokers who do. In my case, they charged a $500 flat fee to find the vehicle I wanted and to get rid of the one I have. If you don't like the deal they can get, you say 'nevermind' and you pay nothing. They also worked out all the financing/leasing options, found the best rates from a bunch of different lenders, showed me the options and asked me what I wanted to do.
Like I said, I never used a broker before and I figured I didn't have anything to lose and a lot to gain, so I went for it and although you pay a bit of a premium, you avoid a lot of the headaches and leg work. Not for everyone, but certainly for folks as lazy as me.
The company I work for, provides their superintendants with full size trucks. They have Fords, Chevys and two Dodges. From the two Dodges a full size ex cab, and a Dakota ex cab. The reviews I have gotten are, the full size Dodge is the most uncomfortable in the full size. The Dakota is, hands down, the most uncomfortable of all the trucks. Now these trucks get a lot of miles every year, so we see how fast the interiors break down on all the brands. The Dodges in our company did not hold up very well, especially the Dakota. The Dakota seats are thin, hard, and tough on the body on long trips. I considered a full size Dodge before my comparison. After my comparison it was down to Ford or Chevy. Well you know which one I chose. These are just my opinions. What ever you buy will be expensive, try to envision what it's going to be like down the road. Just my $.02 Later. Asta, I have your e-mail address. I'll e-mail more info on my dealer.
Hi Woody, I still drop in and check the forum from time to time. I've got 500 miles on my Supercrew and couldn't be more pleased. Absolutely no problems or surprises. Lots of power and very smooth and quiet. Just checked my mileage today and got 15.5 mpg combined city and highway. You and all the other to be owners will be thrilled with your new supercrews. MJohn
Hey Woody, I'm still here as well. I have over 1000 miles on the SuperCrew and still love it very much. Getting about 14.5 mpg with mostly city driving. Still hoping this improves as engine is broken in around 2k to 3k.
I would be happy to answer any questions you guys have. Bear with me, work has really heated up and may not respond all that timely.
Mjohn, thanks for the information on the spray in. Thats probably the next thing.
Only other mod that is imperative for me is some kind of bed cover. I have been thinking that a vinyl cover would be fine and easier to use. But seeing some of the hard covers on other style trucks they do look pretty cool, just not sure how managable they are, ie. removal with one person etc. Just more research to do. Any comments appreciated.
I can't decide. Funny thing is the SportTrac actually has slight edge on seating room! (About equal everywhere, but slight edge in rear legroom)I like that the SportTrac has newer features- power rear slider window - indash 6 cd - Available hard tonneau - head turning style. BUT -the SC has an 8, available rear seat video - a more solid look...and, well, my friends told me the SportTrac looked like a "Chic Truck." I will never tow and haul infrequently enough that bed length is not an issue. Opinions? Thanks!
jjjjeff: I went down to testdrive both the SportTrac and the Supercrew. Only had the SC in 4x4, so I will test the SportTrac later in the month, when the 4x4 comes in. I did get to poke around the 2x4 sportTrac, and managed to bump my head twice! on both sides! The entry portal for both rear and front doors is small and tight, although the step-in height is a lot lower than the Supercrew. The bed of the SportTrac is made of this really cool modled composite (plastic?) or graphite or something - it doesn't need a bedliner and looks insanely durable - all pickups should take a clue from this approach. However, the bed itself is tiny ! It's like a big trunk - much too small for cargo - maybe with the bed extender you'd be better off. Driving a vehicle, of course, is always the final arbiter for me, no matter how cherry the interior and exterior look and feel. The rubber flooring on the SportTrac is a good concept, and washing down the entire interior with a garden hose sounds kinda nifty - but it looks terrible, even with the berber floor mats, and if you're using the inside of the truck for dirty cargo, then something is wrong - it's not a truck, it's a wagon! The instrument panel is tech looking - reminded me of a poor imitation of the Audi panel. But, like I said, I still haven't driven it so my mind is not completely closed (yet).
Chic truck? Do you mean "chick" truck as in for girls? Well, it is an explorer!
I've been following the posts here for some time and deliberating whether to "get serious"about purchasing a Supercrew however,I have a question for any of you who are now driving one. Do the rear seats fold ENTIRELY flat? (note emphasis). Thanks
Entirely flat? not quite, according to the following link. http://www.f150online.com/gallery/supercrew28.html I looked at one last weekend and as I remember, it was still at a bit of an angle when folded completely down. Hope this helps.
Thief - the rear seats in a BMW wagon, or a Lexus RX-300 (or even a Chevy Blazer) fold ENTIRELY flat, meaning perpindicular to a 90 degree angle with front seat backs. The Supercrew seat backs do not fold entirely flat - there is a slight grade. It seemed okay for cargo, and dogs and such. Of course it's that much more added -step-in height for an animal to jump up etc. I prefer Chrysler's solution in the Dakota, where the seats fold back (flat) againt the back of the cab, leaving the rear floor area of the cab as the added cargo container. But, there is quite a bit of cargo volume in the Supercrew when you fold down the seats. As much as my little wagon has now!
Hope that helps some. I'm going for my 2nd test drive of the supercrew this weekend. gonna check out the 2x4 just for comparison after driving the 4x4.
I'm considering buying either a 250 crew cab 4X4 short bed or a 4X4 150 supercrew. each has its good and bad points: The 250 is bigger inside (about 10" more hip room)and out - bigger bed but being bigger outside makes it harder to maneuver too. I think that the 250 looks better on the outside - not "Taurusized" - a truck isn't supposed to be soft; the 250 looks tougher. the 250 costs more to operate (and buy with the same options?). But on the other hand the 150 will ride smoother - and this will be used mainly for family hauling - not a work truck except for the occasional yard of topsoil/lumber etc. And the supercrew is nicer on the inside Anybody have any thoughts on this comparison?
I'm about to take delivery of a 00 F250 CC Lariat loaded up but I ordered the 5.4 with the 4.10 LS, the supercrew has an advailable CD changer which the 250 doesn't, but like you said I have 10" more in the back seat, more then a foot in the bed. A F250 CC Short bed is 2" shorter then a SuperCab with a 8 foot bed. Go figure. I feel you get more truck for your money with a Super Duty. wheather 4x4 or 2x2 the trucks are comparible in price, you will have to decide on what you want...sit in the back, would you want to ride cross country back there. I would in a heart beat in my Super Duty Crew Cab, I'm 6'3" and I have 4-6" from my knees to the back of the front seat in the position I drive from. Plus they are comfortable seats. But then again this is my opinion. Which ever you choose, choose for yourself & the comfort of those in the back seat.

Well worth the wait.
bowhuntwi:I drove the Superduty CC 4x4 and liked it; however it won't fit in my garage, and I didn't want a diesel, I don't tow enough to justify the V-10, and the 5.4 is too slow in the SD. I don't think the SD will hold its value any better, and even if it does there are many more buyers in the market for an F-150 than the SD.
Thanks,
Louis
Called A.R.E who make a good looking topper called the Z Series. They are waiting for Ford to deliver a truck for them to make/check their fiberglass molds. The sales rep said they didn't think they'd have any Supercrew available until after 1 May. Sorry...I'll wait for this one.
Bill
Any thoughts as to why you selected line-x instead of Rhinoliner. I'm considering the options while waiting for my supercrew to arrive. I'm tending toward Line-X myself as I think it goes on better and is a little harder.
I've been so busy with work the last few months I forgot what I even ordered b/c at the time I was debating whether or not to get the Lariat or XLT. I do remember I ordered wedgewood with silver two tone.
Will post my impressions later this weekend.
karmannghia: I paid invoice for mine-Riverside Ford in Macon, see Ron Pollard, internet sales manager.
This is what I ordered:
Lariat
Oxford White w/ Parchment interior
5.4 Liter
Trailer Tow
Limited Slip
Moonroof (wife insisted)
Cab Steps
6 Disc CD
Captains chairs with center console
Bed Extender
Engine Block heater (cold Chicago winters)

Then go to Owners Connection, Register by using your order number or your Vin #. Then click on contact us, there's an 800 number there....use this, the vOPC has been password protected, because of unauthorized use.
Dealers in my area are quoting $2,100 over invoice up to full list for a new crew cab. Where did you get the $400 over invoice deal? What have others been getting for prices?
I have definitely been bitten by the crew, but can't get over the price!
If you don't want to wait for the manufacturers to set up and build specific bedcovers for the Super Crew, hee is a suggestion.I think you could use a Pace Edwards Roll Top for a F-150 Short Bed, and just not extend it all the way back.
Also, on another web site, I saw a factory installed soft tonneau cover listed as an option - although it was listed as "late availability".
pretty much drives like a F-150 Supercab, but a little better because of the weight distribution with such a big cab and a short box. the 4x4 was a touch bouncy on the freeway and surface streets, but who wouldn't expect that, right?
BTW: did you check out Ford of Orange by any chance. A lady named Shawn at that dealership has been in contact with me about the new supercrews (if you wanna do a test drive before yours comes in) and she seems pretty straightforward, although we have not talked price at all as of yet.
BTW 2: what color, trim, options did you go for?
Like I said, I never used a broker before and I figured I didn't have anything to lose and a lot to gain, so I went for it and although you pay a bit of a premium, you avoid a lot of the headaches and leg work. Not for everyone, but certainly for folks as lazy as me.
Chic truck? Do you mean "chick" truck as in for girls? Well, it is an explorer!

I looked at one last weekend and as I remember, it was still at a bit of an angle when folded completely down. Hope this helps.
Hope that helps some. I'm going for my 2nd test drive of the supercrew this weekend. gonna check out the 2x4 just for comparison after driving the 4x4.
Anybody have any thoughts on this comparison?
Thanks - Rob H.
loaded up but I ordered the 5.4 with the 4.10 LS, the supercrew has an advailable CD changer which the 250 doesn't, but like you said I have 10" more in the back seat, more then a foot in the bed.
