"The 3 day resintion rule only works if someone goes to ones house"

There is no such rule/law in the US for automobiles PERIOD.

We only have been told part of the story and not the whole story.

you are correct you need the JBL in order to get XM throught the head unit. The JBL is standard on the XLE and Hybrid models but optional on the SE and Le models. The 449 package is for the reciever , wiring harness antenna and fit kit. It also waves the actrivation fee and covers the fee for 90 days.
  • joecarnutjoecarnut Member Posts: 215
    Thanks dreasdad for the info.

I thought so but the configurator on the buytoyota.com site didn't add the JBL system to the price of a camry when choosing the XM radio option nor was there a JBL system to pick.. Just the XM price was added.

Maybe they are coming with the JBL here in SoCal as we bought a Corolla a year back and it was working out that way for them.

    Anyways just some wishful thinking,

    Moolman,

Congratulations! That was an awesome deal! I’m taking my parents to Longo tomorrow (2/18/07). The best offer so far is $21,600 OTD for ‘07 Camry LE 4cyl - automatic. Obviously $20,200 is a lot better. Would it possible to get the salesman’s info via email?

    Thanks!

Finally I have bought my 2007 Camry LE Auto with the Z1 package (Floor mats, cargo nets etc). I got mine for 18750 + TTL + Extended Warranty 7 yrs- 100k - $0 deductible, the entire total being 20,950 OTD.

I was negotiating with 9 dealers or so around this area, and finally selected on one.

If someone wants to know which dealer, let me know.

Thanks again for all your help.
  • joecarnutjoecarnut Member Posts: 215
Longo usually has good prices but I have found Claremont does too. You ought to see if one or the other will beat the others price. Maybe you could get it into the 19's?

    They both have huge inventories.

I need to buy a Camry LE or Camry Hybrid urgently in NJ as my 1996 Camry just died after 203000 miles.

What is the best price & at what dealership have people paid in NJ recently?

The best I have got is $2000 off the MSRP for a basic LE 4-cylinder with Car mats. i.e. $19,800. Is that good or can I do better?

How good are the deals on a Camry Hybrid, I undersatnd the MSRP is $27,078 whic incl. Dest. charges, Carpets & wheel locks?

Would appreciate any help? Please send price, dealer/ salesperson name & location.

I need to close the deal in next 2 days.

I purchased Camry LE (AT) on 2/16 for $21010 (Out the door price). This includes 6% CT tax, tax, title registration. It includes the CF Matts as the only optional item.

The break up for my CAMRY LE (4 CYL) AT:

    Camry LE with Matts: 19,600
    CT Tax 6% : 1,176
    Reg and Plates: 235
    Total (out the door): 21,011

Note: some dealers were asking extra $500 for Silver exterior (Titanium Metallic). I did not pay anything extra at this dealer where I purchased the car from.

How much does Toyota's (not 3rd party) extended warranty cost for the 2007 Camry LE?
What does it cover i.e. (1) Bumber-to-Bumper or Powertrain (2) How much does it extend beyond the original 36 month/36000 miles B2B or 60 month/60000 miles powertrain (3) What is the deductible.

I am also deciding to add extended warranty for 2006 RAV4 4WD I bought last summer. Anybody know the pricing for that

I have signed a contract for basic 2007 Camry LE 4-cyl with carpets for $19,700 (MSRP=$21,754) at Freehold Toyota, NJ and am picking it up on Thursday

Could someone tell me their buying experience with the 2007 Toyota Camry XLE with the optional VSC and body side molding?

I have not been able to find what I want in inventory, so will the price be higher if I order one?

And how long does it take to get one?

There appears to be additional admin fees associated with the southeast (I'm in FL).

Sorry for all the questions

Thank you for all your assistance

What is considered "old" on the new car lot? How much time passes until the dealer is more desparate to sell the car? Like the camry, which "flies off the lots", when would the dealer be inclined to give you a better deal? weeks, months?
  • stlpike07stlpike07 Member Posts: 229
There are different types of warranties. The warranty I got through Toyota was much less expensive then an identical coverage plan through a third party.

I purchased the 36 Month/50,000 mile "Platinum" coverage for my Camry LE I4 for around $650 through Toyota.....I'll have to check the receipt.

I leased the car for 3 years/45,000 miles. The "Platinum" coverage provides me with free towing, tire changing service, gas service, battery service, rentals, possible reimbursements, and so on with a $0 deductible. It also covers things the factory warranty doesn't during the term of my lease.

The private party plan for the same coverage was about $300 more. Ask your dealer. Mine tried to go with the private party plan and I asked about Toyota.

The dealership said I could cancel the plan when I turn the vehicle in and receive reimbursement for the portion of the coverage that wasn't used too.

    Good luck!

wondering what anyone knows about this fitzmall. their prices seem to be really good. is there a catch? i'm in ohio so i'm not sure about the hassle or cost of getting a car in maryland. any help would be appreciated. looking to get a camry hybrid perhaps.
  • dreasdaddreasdad Member Posts: 276
90 days , but most Toyota models turn over in around 45-- usually has to be a weird model or options to stay longer than 45.

Only way to tell on some lots is to look at inspection stickers if your state requires them. In Texas the vehicle has to hve an inspection sticker in order to be driven
so I aleays look at the month to see how old the unit is

A couple of weeks ago I've picked up one of the loss leaders which are the "old" new cars the dealers want to get rid ASAP.
According to the sticker on the door it's been manufactured in November and had 5 miles on the odometer.

I purchased the 36 Month/50,000 mile "Platinum" coverage for my Camry LE I4 for around $650 through Toyota.....I'll have to check the receipt.

Is this a warranty or a service contract? $650 for a 3yr/50,000 mile sounds steep (and needless) for a car with a full 3yr/36000 warranty and additional coverage for the entire powertrain well past the 50,000 listed.

What could it possibly cover that a full bumper to bumper warranty does not???
  • stlpike07stlpike07 Member Posts: 229
    It is an extended warranty.

-If I get a flat tire Toyota will come out and change it for me or tow me
-If I run out of gas or need a jump start Toyota will send someone out
-It guarantees that I get a loaner veh or a rental (up to $50 a day) for any covered work.
-I also get unlimited towing if the car "breaks down."
-It provides travel coverage up to $100 a day (hotel, food, etc.) if I'm out of town and it "breaks down."

Those are just some things off the top of my head. My girlfriend has my car right now and the warranty info is in the glove box.......Basically, it provides more extensive coverage than the factory warranty and I will be "completely" covered during the term of my lease.

I guess I would rather be safe than sorry and I didn't think the coverage was that expensive, especially compared to the third party warranties I looked at that were $300 to $500 more.

This is not a extended warranty at all... this is a Profit Contract... er umm high priced Service Contract. Please do yourself a favor if you value money and get your money back and purchase a Toyota backed extended warranty online.
  • kiawahkiawah Member Posts: 3,666
stlpike07 leased the car, makes no sense to purchase extended warranty.
  • wvgasguywvgasguy Member Posts: 1,405
I guess I would rather be safe than sorry and I didn't think the coverage was that expensive,

To each their own, but if I was only keeping the car for 45,000 miles, $650 sounds like a lot more "assurance" than I would need, especially since none of those things occur all that frequently to anyone.

    Hello,

Recently bought a LE camry with heated leather to be installed as after market deal. Dealer arranges for the installation. Wondering will this affect my warranty 3yrs/36000 miles by any chance? Will I lose it since I am installing heated leather seat!? Please clarify.

    Thanks,
    Shannu

You don't say which part of PA you are in, but you can check www.fitzmall. They have both a chambersburg,pa and gaithersburg,md dealerships. True non-haggle, published (low) internet pricing.

No affiliation with these guys, just know many who have bought there.
  • wildcats2wildcats2 Member Posts: 2
    Its in Norristown area.
  • dreasdaddreasdad Member Posts: 276
No it will not, the dealer will probably be using Classic Soft Trim to install the leather, the package is made the Camry and has seems built in for the side airbags. Dealer can not install anything that will conflict with warranty.
after market leather is better quality as well and they will give you longer warranty as well.

It's amazing to me that bad sales people still exist, and apparently thrive, given the amount of competition there is out there. So I guess it should come as no surprise when I visited Keyes Toyota in Van Nuys that their sales person was terrible. He was unfamiliar with the product - to an astonishing degree - I'm not splitting hairs here he couldn't answer basic questions about the vehicle. I believe he even got the warranty information wrong on the battery. Even so it is a close dealership and my wife and I didn't want to look to hard so we asked about pricing. We were ready to buy and almost any reasonable response would have closed us, instead he acted as if selling me the vehicle ABOVE MSRP would be doing me a favor. Needless to say we started to shop elsewhere. I had a similar experience when we bought our E-Class at a Keyes dealership so I am saddened to say it is a corporate culture issue.

I made a few calls, found the car we wanted at Northridge Toyota spoke with their Internet department and made an appointment to come in. We had to postpone a day but called in advance the next morning to be sure the salesman would be there, so we confirmed our appointment for mid-afternoon. He acted as if there were no changes from our previous conversations. Needless to say when we got there he took us out to the lot showed us a different color combination and confessed they had sold our car the day before. He had my number, and had he called to give me a heads-up we would have come out and looked at different colors, but by manipulating me into coming out to the dealership so that he could get paid for booking an appointment he lost my business.

I was beginning to lose hope when I called Longo in El Monte and spoke a fleet manager who shares the first name of a Nintendo game character "Super M... Brothers". M was like a breath of fresh air. He didn't try and play games, he shot straight with me and he gave me a great price fast. But you be the judge of it: 2007 Camry Hybrid loaded: MSRP $31,458 - "Super M" price $28,000 period. No hidden fees or additional charges (obviously I had to pay TTL). My experience at the dealership was exceptional we were in and out in 90-minutes. Including time we spent checking out the car. I am a believer. Codes on car are: CQ, LA, NV, SR, CF, V4.

I think it varies by dealer and salesman. My wife and I got several long test drives the past Friday/Saturday after: 1) saying we were close to deciding, 2) specifying the vehicles we were torn between, and 3) simply asking what was the longest possible test drive. Result--Continental Toyota (Chicago) gave us the keys (after photocopying license and insurance card) for separate 3-4 hr test drives of both an Avalon and a Camry XLE. Also took a shorter drive in a Hybrid (alone again). Napleton Acura gave us 24 hours with a TL, requesting only that we keep the total miles under 90...I could hardly believe it. (The TL ride was much firmer (rougher) than I expected--broke my heart as it is a fabulous car otherwise and I had been set to buy one) We were running out of time when we got to Honda and settled for the 10 minute drive with the Accord salesman. After the prior experiences I was almost surprised when he got in the backseat.

Another suggestion...do the visit during a busy time (Saturday) when the salesman might be more distracted and less inclined to ride along.

Well, I just did my taxes and as I thought I was able to claim the full $2600 tax credit on my Federal Tax Return. There are a lot of folks out there throwing out a scare that most people won't be able to claim this because of the Alternative Minimum Tax issue. Granted a lot of people won't be able to, but I'm guessing most of them already know who they are.

It's not so much about income I don't believe than it is about the type of deductions you claim. My guess is that most Californians who are griping are probably stuck with high mortage interest (same for any large metropolitian area I assume) with the high cost of real estate. Although I understand that small business owners may have issues as well.

My income was in (well, it's a lot higher than average) and I still didn't have to pay the AMT.

It is something that everyone should have checked into if they were expecting the credit, but I don't think it's a big issue (except as always to those that are affected).
