It's income as well. If you have high enough income and minimal deductions, AMT still throttles back what deductions you do have, as well as throttles back the amount each exemption is worth.

I bought a basic Camry Hybrid in November. I paid sticker, about $26,500. Its white. I really wanted silver. The dealer has a silver TCH on the way. I can't find any reference to the trade-in value of an '07 TCH. It only has 2900 miles on it. I know I should have just hung on until a silver one arrived. Anyway, whats done is done.
Opinions on trade in values and what to expect are appreciated. The new one is a basic TCH at about $27,000.
    Thanks.

We got a new ’07 Camry CE with a manual transmission for $18,050. This includes the carpet floor/trunk mats and destination charge. This does not include tax and $90.00 in tag/document fees.

Very happy with everything, especially getting a Camry with a stick shift!!

    Hi ,

I just wanted to share ,my buying experience and get some opinions. I bought a loaner volvo S60 last year for $25K after much negotiation and drove it for another 8000 miles.
There was a snow storm in NJ recently and I got to my car in freezing cold and found the A/C dead.I tried all sorts of things with no use . I also called volvo road side assistance and they calmly replied that there was a 4 hour wait to be helped. My brother also bought a Volvo S40 and has similar experiences such as unexpected stalling and noises etc.. I went to a Toyota dealer yesterday with my car and they were willing to negotiate being month-end . I traded in my volvo for $22,500 and dealer offerred me a fully loaded Toyota camry hybrid for $27500( Includes leather package, heated seats and mirrors,NAV.system, 4 disc changer and Blue tooth) after much negotiation.
Since then I am dying to find out whether I made a bad decision i.e,trading volvo and for such a price.Did I get a good deal? Please share your opinions. Thanks in advance for your valuable time.

was dealing with the dealer in my local area i.e. Russel Automotive Group. 6624 BALTIMORE NATIONAL PIKE BALTIMORE, MD . This is my worst experience dealing with a dealer.
I spoke with the sales guy and Manager and even GM. THe General Manager (GM) was the rudest of all. They agree in writing for a price and later changed it when I wanted to purchase the vehicle. I have it in writing a price from them and when I agree to purchase they said, it would cost more by $1000. This is cheating the customer. It is unfair business practise. It is not ethical at all.
I am really disappointed at the way I have been treated and if toyota dealers treat customers like this the amount of time it has taken toyota to become no 1 in USA i.e 50 years, it would probably take 100 times less to become the worst company in USA.

Please be very very careful in dealing with Russel Group. They do sell other brand s of vehicle as well. their website is www.rcars.com

    Dumb post.
  • sandman46sandman46 Member Posts: 1,798
Why is it a dumb post? Appears that the dealer raised the price by $1000. when the customer went in to buy the car. Am I reading this wrong? And if indeed that's what happened, I'd be pissed off also and want to let as many people know about that scummy dealer as I could.
Someone please correct me if I read the previous post wrong.

    The Sandman :)

How many days before you were ready to buy, did they give you the previous lower price in writing? And was it for a specific car VIN #, and when you were ready to buy was it the same VIN# or a different car?
  • jb_turnerjb_turner Member Posts: 702
yashm has posted this at least 4 times in different threads and 3 of those were pulled.
  • kiawahkiawah Member Posts: 3,666
Yashm does not indicate how far in advance the 'written' quote was for (could have been in prior month or end-of-year special, for all we know), does not indicate whether this was on the same specific car (could have quoted a base LE initially, and now the one on the lot has alloy wheels and spoiler), the engine light could now be on for his trade, etc.

I suspect when emotions are put aside, there are more facts to this situation which will shed a little different light.

For all we know, the dealer tried to take him for an extra $1000 and didn't live up to his agreement.

    Hi all,

Thanks to this forum, once I made up my mind to buy a TCH, I knew that Fitzmall would be the measuring stick I'd use to compare against other deals offered, and I suspect that competition is good for us in the DC area. Since we're on the eastern side of Montgomery County, we stopped by DARCARS first to look over the car, test drive, etc, and see just how competitive their prices would be. To my happy surprise, I was able to get a similarly equipped car for a slightly better price than offered at Fitzmall ($300 below invoice), although I believe their approach was to make back the money on my trade-in, as they originally offered about 1/2 the KBB value of the car. Fortunately, I had printed my KBB evaluation (and was willing to walk away from the deal) so I was able to get a reasonable trade-in.

    Anyway, here are the specifics:
    Toyota Camry Hybrid
no NAV, cloth interior, moonroof MSRP $27989, invoice $25597, internet price $25300 (plus tax, tags, $100 processing)

I'll admit, the dealership is a little disorganized, and I suspect its a dealership that preys on those who aren't well informed (I made clear that I'd been researching internet deals from the outset, without going into particulars of the other dealership sites I'd visited), but for those in the area willing to do a little more work, I think a good TCH deal can be made there. As a bonus for us, since that's our "local" dealer, its probably the place we'll go for any specific dealer service (at least at first).
  • jb_turnerjb_turner Member Posts: 702
Sine a trade was involved there is no way to asertain the price of the Camry......What really matters is that you are satisfied.
  • choatewardchoateward Member Posts: 4
True enough, but in their defense, the below invoice price was offered before I'd agreed to trade-in our other car. I remember thinking once the price was offered (a couple of days before we settled) that they would try to make their money off the trade-in, so I was careful when asked if we were going to trade ("I'm still considering whether or not to trade-in here, sell myself, or donate.") So, I think a person who's done their homework can get a fair deal there without a tade, but I can't guarantee it.

As you said, I was pretty happy, which is what really matters.

i keep reading a lot of california camry le owners paying as low as $18,600.i bought mine with auto trans and only (cf)floor/trunk mats as option for $20,007+399 doc. fee+$1,581.47 NV sales tax+28.25 title fee, total of $22,015.72 OTD.i'm just thinking they might have gotten a ce model or le with manual trans, as what my salesman told me since he cannnot give it to me on that price, or is there any other vegas sucker like me out there?

I am looking for a 2007 Camry basic LE.I checked with dealers over the phone aroun south florida, (west palm beach), usually they ask for $21,000~23,000 as the out of door price. What would be the bottom line price(out of door price) I am targeting at $19,000 but less than $20,000. Is this practical?
  • mcdawggmcdawgg Member Posts: 1,722
You could always get a CE. It is exactly the same as an LE, except it does not have a power driver's seat and it does not have keyless entry. You could always add keyless later to a CE, for much less $. And I see no reason for a power driver's seat? The CE is about $1,400 less than an LE. Even if you pay $400 to add keyless (it is about $200), you are still $1,000 ahead, unless you need that power seat.

Sorry to say that, I think it could be lower. But hey! who cares, enjoy!

I purchased a Toyota Camry LE out of state approximately one month ago. When I was there, the dealer stated that he had a book that listed the vehicle tag and title fee's for every state including mine. These fee's were all included in the signed "purchase order". I drove the car off the lot. One month later, they call me up and ask me to give them a credit card # so they can collect more money. They claim they made a mistake, and undercharged me.

In the interim, I asked them to provide me with proof that they paid these additional tag and title fee's. It was never provided, but they called again, asking for a credit card number. I called them back, and left a message reiterating my request for some proof.

    My questions are:

    1) Has anyone else ever experienced this?
    2) Am I under any obligation to reimburse the dealer for additional costs of getting the tags for me? (I have yet to receive any license plates, aside from the temporary ones that came with the car)

I won't post the name of the dealer because it is my understanding that this forum prohibits disclosing the name of specific dealers.
  • kiawahkiawah Member Posts: 3,666
You can post dealers (ie, the company), you just can't post individual employee names or phone numbers. Basic data privacy issues.

I don't know the specifics of your situation, but I would think what is 'fair' is you paying the legitimate registration fees for your state. If you would go to register in your state and they'd charge you 100, the dealer thought it would be 85 and charged you only 85.....i'd pay up the 15 difference. They saved you the hassle of handling it separately on your own.
  • wvgasguywvgasguy Member Posts: 1,405
Have you received your new registration card proving that they have indeed already paid the fees? Is it possible they have not paid it yet? You ultimately would be responsible unless you signed an additional contract. When I bought out of state (in PA) I signed a statement that kept me from paying their taxes and they collected the amount due to my state.

Hummm, if I studied the document well and understood it before I bought and I was happy with the car price deal, I'm the type that would probably pay the extra for the mistake, because ultimately it was a fee I owed. I don't know though that I would send them my credit card number.
  • eaw7100eaw7100 Member Posts: 4
    >Have you received your new registration card proving that >they have indeed already paid the fees?

    No.

    >Is it possible they have not paid it yet?

Yes. However, they say they have already paid the fee's to the state and are now looking to collect the difference from me. However, I've requested proof (i.e. a cancelled check) from them, and they have yet to produce that.
  • kiawahkiawah Member Posts: 3,666
So do you agree, or not agree, that the registration charges that they now indicate it costs to register in your state are accurate? ie...it costs 100 to register, and they want to charge you 100
  • esteezeesteeze Member Posts: 102
Has anyone actually looked for / seen the 50th anniversary edition of the TCH in dealerships yet?

I'm kind of interested in it, but I won't be in the market until the Summer. Hopefully, they will still be available then.
  • eaw7100eaw7100 Member Posts: 4
    > So do you agree, or not agree, that the registration
    > charges that they now indicate it costs to register in
    > your state are accurate?

    Disagree.

If they really paid this $100, why are they refusing to provide me with the appropriate documentation?

Today, they left another message, again asking for the money, and still have provided -no- documentation.
  • jbolltjbollt Member Posts: 736
Just a thought...have you contacted your states DMV (or what ever it is called in your state) with your VIN and asked what the registration costs actually are? and if they have been paid by the dealer?

I would think this would settle the issue (at least as I understand it)

I just picked up my new Black Toyota Camry Hybrid (I wanted white) from Elmore Toyota today. The price I paid was the price that they advertised in the paper ($22,077). There was no trade-in involved in this deal. This is the base model hybrid. The only options were the floor mats and the decal on the rear bumper. The MSRP was $26,200 and the options were CF (carpet/Trunk Mat set $199) and EF (Rear Bumper Applique $49). The delivery, processing and handling fee was $620 for a total MSRP of $27068.

With sales tax (1715.23) and other CA state fees and filing fees ($244.75) the Out the Door total came to $24091.98. I paid cash for the car so there was no special financing (they even let me put $3000 on my credit card).

I had bad experiences at Miller Toyota of Anaheim and even worse at Power Toyota in Buena Park. When I went to Miller Toyota, I introduced myself to the sales man and immediately asked if the dealership would honor other advertised prices to which he replied they would. After test driving the vehicle I wanted (white), I told him the advertised price, filled out the credit information and told him that I needed to leave to take my daughter to soccer try-outs and would return by 2:00 to pick up the car and fill out any final paperwork. After spending an additional 2 hours at the dealership, they decided to not honor the price and told me that they would sell it to me for $23,900. At this point I called Elmore Toyota and they told me that they had 2 of the 3 Camrys still in stock. I piled the family into the van and drove down there where they had quite a few Hybrids. I told them that I was interested in the Camrys that were advertised. They proceeded to let me test drive other vehicles which had the same MSRP and implied I would get the same deal as was advertised. When we eventually sat down to buy the car, they told me that the cars in the add had been sold. Because I wanted a white, I didn't push the issue and left. I started calling dealers in the area (about 20) and told them what I was looking for and the price I wanted to pay and if they had it I would come by within 1/2 an hour to purchase it. Although I could find white cars, no one would go below invoice for this car. Sunday Morning I woke up found the same add for Elmore Toyota and called up asking if they had any left. The salesman (a different one from the night before) said that they had 2 left (black and red). I got there within 30 minutes with the ad prepared to look for the ID numbers on the cars in the lot. I met the salesman (Gabe) and he set me up with another salesman (Nick). Nick found the black car, I took it for a test drive and bought it. It took a little while to get the car cleaned up but Nick and Gabe treated me right. I now have my new Camry in the garage and the Black is pretty sweet looking. :shades:

I hope this helps people and is anyone interested in a 98 Ford Windstar with 120000 miles?

Live in Atlanta and have bought Toyotas in Atlanta. After reading about others buying out-of-state from Fitzmall, we decided to contact them about purchasing a 2007 Camry Hybrid. Glad we did. No haggle price. Seemed to be the lowest in the DC area and $3500 less than any quotes we received from Atlanta dealerships. Flew to DC, the salesperson met us at our hotel in DC, we looked over the car, we signed the paperwork, he showed us all the features and poof, we had a fully-loaded TCH. MSRP was $30,929, invoice price was $28,009, we paid $27,922 plus $19 for MD temporary tags. They waived their $99 processing fee since we were paying the tax, tag and title in GA. They whole process couldn’t have been easier and the salesperson couldn’t have been nicer. The drive back to Atlanta from DC was great…gave us time to play with the NAV system. Thanks to others in the forum for sharing their experiences buying from Fitzmall!

Greeting to all - new board member here. I recieved the following offer from my local dealer (Dennison Toyota, Bloomington, IL): 2007 Camry SE, dark gray, sunroof, CD player, satellite radio (I have XM already) and aftermarket leather. Sticker was $ 25,025. Also, this will be the third Toyota that I have leased from this dealer.

They told me the monthly payments would be $ 455 for 12k miles, 36 months. This seems extremely high, considering the historical residuals and low money factors.

To complicate things furhter, last May I leased a 2006 Sienna LE, sticker $ 27,000, 12k miles/yr, 36 months for $ 356.00/month from the same dealer. I would have to think that this vehicle would have a favorable residual also.

Any resonable explainations? Thank you in advance. :confuse:

Would like to know if anyone has experience driving Camry Hybrid in Rocky Mountains. Also, when I test drove the hybrid, there was a sound when car started moving. Salesman said it was the engine kicking in. Is this common? We were on flat ground at the time. Purpose of car will include vacationing in all kinds of terrain. Even though I would like to save gas, would I be better off in the long run buying a conventional engine? From the discussions I've read, it sounds as though the V6 engine would be better than the V4 although I DO NOT want to have to purchase premium gas. :confuse:
