Opinions on trade in values and what to expect are appreciated. The new one is a basic TCH at about $27,000.
Thanks.
Very happy with everything, especially getting a Camry with a stick shift!!
I just wanted to share ,my buying experience and get some opinions. I bought a loaner volvo S60 last year for $25K after much negotiation and drove it for another 8000 miles.
There was a snow storm in NJ recently and I got to my car in freezing cold and found the A/C dead.I tried all sorts of things with no use . I also called volvo road side assistance and they calmly replied that there was a 4 hour wait to be helped. My brother also bought a Volvo S40 and has similar experiences such as unexpected stalling and noises etc.. I went to a Toyota dealer yesterday with my car and they were willing to negotiate being month-end . I traded in my volvo for $22,500 and dealer offerred me a fully loaded Toyota camry hybrid for $27500( Includes leather package, heated seats and mirrors,NAV.system, 4 disc changer and Blue tooth) after much negotiation.
Since then I am dying to find out whether I made a bad decision i.e,trading volvo and for such a price.Did I get a good deal? Please share your opinions. Thanks in advance for your valuable time.
Thanks
Also, any Toyota dealerships recomendation for camry 07 LE in central NJ area ?
Thanks
I spoke with the sales guy and Manager and even GM. THe General Manager (GM) was the rudest of all. They agree in writing for a price and later changed it when I wanted to purchase the vehicle. I have it in writing a price from them and when I agree to purchase they said, it would cost more by $1000. This is cheating the customer. It is unfair business practise. It is not ethical at all.
I am really disappointed at the way I have been treated and if toyota dealers treat customers like this the amount of time it has taken toyota to become no 1 in USA i.e 50 years, it would probably take 100 times less to become the worst company in USA.
Please be very very careful in dealing with Russel Group. They do sell other brand s of vehicle as well. their website is www.rcars.com
Someone please correct me if I read the previous post wrong.

I suspect when emotions are put aside, there are more facts to this situation which will shed a little different light.

Thanks to this forum, once I made up my mind to buy a TCH, I knew that Fitzmall would be the measuring stick I'd use to compare against other deals offered, and I suspect that competition is good for us in the DC area. Since we're on the eastern side of Montgomery County, we stopped by DARCARS first to look over the car, test drive, etc, and see just how competitive their prices would be. To my happy surprise, I was able to get a similarly equipped car for a slightly better price than offered at Fitzmall ($300 below invoice), although I believe their approach was to make back the money on my trade-in, as they originally offered about 1/2 the KBB value of the car. Fortunately, I had printed my KBB evaluation (and was willing to walk away from the deal) so I was able to get a reasonable trade-in.
Anyway, here are the specifics:
Toyota Camry Hybrid
no NAV, cloth interior, moonroof MSRP $27989, invoice $25597, internet price $25300 (plus tax, tags, $100 processing)
I'll admit, the dealership is a little disorganized, and I suspect its a dealership that preys on those who aren't well informed (I made clear that I'd been researching internet deals from the outset, without going into particulars of the other dealership sites I'd visited), but for those in the area willing to do a little more work, I think a good TCH deal can be made there. As a bonus for us, since that's our "local" dealer, its probably the place we'll go for any specific dealer service (at least at first).
As you said, I was pretty happy, which is what really matters.
In the interim, I asked them to provide me with proof that they paid these additional tag and title fee's. It was never provided, but they called again, asking for a credit card number. I called them back, and left a message reiterating my request for some proof.
My questions are:
1) Has anyone else ever experienced this?
2) Am I under any obligation to reimburse the dealer for additional costs of getting the tags for me? (I have yet to receive any license plates, aside from the temporary ones that came with the car)
I won't post the name of the dealer because it is my understanding that this forum prohibits disclosing the name of specific dealers.
I don't know the specifics of your situation, but I would think what is 'fair' is you paying the legitimate registration fees for your state. If you would go to register in your state and they'd charge you 100, the dealer thought it would be 85 and charged you only 85.....i'd pay up the 15 difference. They saved you the hassle of handling it separately on your own.
Hummm, if I studied the document well and understood it before I bought and I was happy with the car price deal, I'm the type that would probably pay the extra for the mistake, because ultimately it was a fee I owed. I don't know though that I would send them my credit card number.
No.
>Is it possible they have not paid it yet?
Yes. However, they say they have already paid the fee's to the state and are now looking to collect the difference from me. However, I've requested proof (i.e. a cancelled check) from them, and they have yet to produce that.
I'm kind of interested in it, but I won't be in the market until the Summer. Hopefully, they will still be available then.
> charges that they now indicate it costs to register in
> your state are accurate?
Disagree.
If they really paid this $100, why are they refusing to provide me with the appropriate documentation?
Today, they left another message, again asking for the money, and still have provided -no- documentation.
I would think this would settle the issue (at least as I understand it)
With sales tax (1715.23) and other CA state fees and filing fees ($244.75) the Out the Door total came to $24091.98. I paid cash for the car so there was no special financing (they even let me put $3000 on my credit card).
I had bad experiences at Miller Toyota of Anaheim and even worse at Power Toyota in Buena Park. When I went to Miller Toyota, I introduced myself to the sales man and immediately asked if the dealership would honor other advertised prices to which he replied they would. After test driving the vehicle I wanted (white), I told him the advertised price, filled out the credit information and told him that I needed to leave to take my daughter to soccer try-outs and would return by 2:00 to pick up the car and fill out any final paperwork. After spending an additional 2 hours at the dealership, they decided to not honor the price and told me that they would sell it to me for $23,900. At this point I called Elmore Toyota and they told me that they had 2 of the 3 Camrys still in stock. I piled the family into the van and drove down there where they had quite a few Hybrids. I told them that I was interested in the Camrys that were advertised. They proceeded to let me test drive other vehicles which had the same MSRP and implied I would get the same deal as was advertised. When we eventually sat down to buy the car, they told me that the cars in the add had been sold. Because I wanted a white, I didn't push the issue and left. I started calling dealers in the area (about 20) and told them what I was looking for and the price I wanted to pay and if they had it I would come by within 1/2 an hour to purchase it. Although I could find white cars, no one would go below invoice for this car. Sunday Morning I woke up found the same add for Elmore Toyota and called up asking if they had any left. The salesman (a different one from the night before) said that they had 2 left (black and red). I got there within 30 minutes with the ad prepared to look for the ID numbers on the cars in the lot. I met the salesman (Gabe) and he set me up with another salesman (Nick). Nick found the black car, I took it for a test drive and bought it. It took a little while to get the car cleaned up but Nick and Gabe treated me right. I now have my new Camry in the garage and the Black is pretty sweet looking. :shades:
I hope this helps people and is anyone interested in a 98 Ford Windstar with 120000 miles?
THNX
Good Luck
Want to let you know that got a good deal from Team toyota, PA on 2007 camry LE, the sales person was very good and he kept his word...
Called a few dealers in central jersey and went to Team Toyota....
We live in Birmingham, and I'm looking into doing something similar towards the end of the Summer.
They told me the monthly payments would be $ 455 for 12k miles, 36 months. This seems extremely high, considering the historical residuals and low money factors.
To complicate things furhter, last May I leased a 2006 Sienna LE, sticker $ 27,000, 12k miles/yr, 36 months for $ 356.00/month from the same dealer. I would have to think that this vehicle would have a favorable residual also.
Any resonable explainations? Thank you in advance. :confuse:
