Like I said, that would be silly to ask. The point I made is that the section of the loop 101 that has speed cameras, has had a reduction in the number of officers patrolling that area.
Back to inconsiderate behavior... This was a couple of years ago when my E430 Mercedes was in the shop for a minor rear bumper repair (Ford Ranger didn't stop in time and bumped me).
I was given a late model Saturn sedan... this was a basic entry level unit as it was a four door without power locks, had roll windows, air, automatic and radio. The rear locks were hard to reach so I just left the car unlocked for the two weeks that I had it.
I was driving on a main road in our town (3 lanes each side, center turning lane). I was in the far right lane driving faster than the 2 lanes to my left. As I was approaching a slower moving vehicle moving ahead of me, I signaled left into the center lane. There was a tow truck with a car on the back of the bed who, apparently, thought that he owned that lane and didn't like it at all that I changed lanes.
He immediately speeds up riding my bumper so I pass the vehicle that caused me to change lanes in the first place and got back into the right curb lane. Thinking the big tow truck (everything seems big when your in a Saturn) was going to pass me, he pulls in behind me and rides my bumper.
My turn is coming up so when I slow down to make my right turn, I slammed on the brakes. You should have seen his face in my rear view mirror. I know that the car he was carrying must have been ready to cut loose because he hit his brakes hard.
I know that I shouldn't have done it but he irritated the heck out of me for riding my bumper.

Now as I make the left turn the guy cuts over onto the shoulder and guns it. :confuse: I mean the guy couldn't wait two seconds for someone to make a turn?

Proper driving involves much more than knowing how to maneuver a vehicle. It involves knowing how to interact with all the other vehicles.
My daughter is nervous to begin with and she is becoming even more anxious glancing in the rear view mirror frequently. "Should I speed up?" No, she is doing the speed limit. He finally passed us (in a no passing zone and honking his horn like we were the problem) and zoomed off. My daughter was relieved, but I was ticked. Good grief, he must have seen the "student driver" sticker. And even if it wasn't a novice driving, really inconsiderate anyway.
Okay, rant over.
I had a pickemup truck related to lots of new construction pass me in the turnonly third lane in a 35 mph zone. After he passed I saw the turbine type kerosene heater he was taking to a job site. So I notified the local police and hoped they caught him to at least delay him for a while. When you're driving a giant white RAM pickup, you're easy to spot. The construction was probably one within the city limits.

The first 250,000 miles of my driving life I was concerned with doing the correct thing, justice
I followed a fully loaded tractor trailer across I 40 E in the great state of Texas (for several hours and several hundred miles) changing "lead dog status" MANY times and almost seamlessly. Yet some (local) PU trucks felt it necessary to get in front of him in the passing lane and NOT keep right (except to pass).
By in large most truck drivers have to drive their "torque" curve. So what happens is that drivers in passenger cars figure the trucks torque curve is EXACTLY the same as theirs (passenger cars) and of course that is categorically FALSE. Keep right except to pass really goes a long way in a more thoughtful and hopefully safer sharing of the roads. When it doesn't: pass on the right.
I saw a red light runner today at lunch. Not your typical the-light-just-turned-red-and-I-ain't-waitin' runner, but a REAL runner. The intersection runs three cycles. The north/south traffic gets the longest light. Then the west bound gets to go, followed by the eastbound.
I was second in line in the eastbound side waiting to turn left. Our light went green and out we went. Here comes a northbound black lexus zooming right through his red light that has been red for at least 20 seconds. He was in the center of 3 lanes and we were turning into the left most lane so we avoided contact. The guy was on his cell and he realized what he had done when he saw us coming at him. The miracle of it all was there was a motocycle cop right there to nab him. It's the first traffic stop like I've seen in Miami in 2 years.
Depends on where you are. In AZ, that would be breaking the law too.

the lite turns green and a car comming down the hill on my left (and in the left turn only lane) passes me and crosses in front of me (tires squeeling) as I proceed straight ahead through the intersection, and he turns right.
initially i thought he must be in pursuit by the police... but no such luck.
imagine if I had gotten T-boned on the driver's door (and survived) how difficult that one would be to explain.
Wait, that is a rare occurance in those parts for someone to hit the right shoulder to pass a left turner? I thought maybe I was being inconsiderate by NOT doing that since it is such a rarity to actually wait.....
as we proceed, we see comming at us going south on the access road a car fishtailing wildly with sparks flying from both back wheels.
we pass on the right the car going in the wrong direction and there is smoke billowing in the car, crunched front end, and it also occurs to us there is no rubber on the rear wheels.
it reminded me of some horror movie... where there'd be a skeleton behind the wheel.
and my wife asks me why i don't bring her downtown more often.
I'd be wondering where the police laid that spike strip down! Hahah, seriously though, it sounds to me like some thief/joyrider almost finished with his victim's car.
Well first off I wasn't stopped just slowing down enough to make the turn. Secondly there isn't much space along side the road to put a vehicle. Finally it is illegal to leave the pavement to pass another vehicle.

it was as if we were in a twilight zone episode or something. we just couldn't believe what we were seeing.
Here in central CT, packs of motorcyclists like to tour New England highways and (especially) scenic byways. Heaven forbid they get separated at intersections, so they routinely have a couple of bikes block the intersection against the light, holding up other traffic, so their pack can have their communal "Rrraahhhhd." Costumed clowns!!
And can the "stuffed animalathons" please cease? Just put all the toys and stuff in a pickup truck and deliver it to the med center or whatever. You can still have your photo op. But please cease the adolescent, traffic jamming look-at-me, look- at-me routine.
Also stop fighting the laws of physics. Couple springs ago a biker blasted by me on the right on a road clearly posted with signs: "Frost Heaves Ahead." He found a dandy about a mile up the road which catapulted him off the road, over a snow fence and deep into a line of trees. To quote Jonathan Swift, you would hardly believe how the experience altered his appearance for the worse.
There's a stretch of Interstate near Hartford that would make the autobahn look like a school zone. When traffic is heavy, bikers like to roar through the five (?) lanes, weaving from far right to far left and back again, leaving a bare inch to spare on each end. A while back, traffic was heavy but moving briskly and a biker was weaving through it at approx 80 per. He tried to move into the lane to his left, but his front wheel just ticked the bumper of the car ahead of him and the contact dumped him right in front of the vehicle in that lane. It was a double tractor trailer. Sic transit gloria mundi.
"There's a very good reason why "slower traffic keep right" is the "right" thing to do."
What makes you think LLC's are interested in doing the "right" thing?
Those who accuse a LLC of being like police are the same who resent official police. Sour grapes.
Again, LLC proceeding at the limit are fine with me because that's the limit.
When a line of cars form behind the LLC - not to worry, their rear wheels are going forward and lines are everywhere in this world.
I have a sister who used to (not sure if she does anymore) sit in the left lane doing the speed limit with the attitude that the speed limit is the maximum speed allowed and that everyone else had to do speed limit too.
2011 Hyundai Sonata, 2014 BMW 428i convertible, 2015 Honda CTX700D
Sorry I tend to disagree with you. I know a few that think that they sitting in the left lane doing speed limit is enforcing the law, I am sure than many LLC's feel the same way. To me these are petty little people who only feel good when they inconvience others.
2011 Hyundai Sonata, 2014 BMW 428i convertible, 2015 Honda CTX700D
You state that LLC's driving along at the speed limit are pefectly fine with you...
But what about their blatant disregard for posted signs that state "Keep Right Except To Pass" and "Slower Traffic Keep Right"?????
The signs DON'T say "Keep Right, Unless You're Driving The Speed Limit".
Driving on the left is a ticketable offense. A few months ago, a friend of mine was pulled over and cited for cruising along in the left lane.
The only ones inconvenienced are those wanting to go substantially faster than the speed limit and wanting everyone to be clear of 'their' fast lane.
For the signs that say "Slower traffic keep right," etc., check the signs that say "Speed Limit 65" is my response. If I'm doing 65 in the left lane in heavier traffic, then I'm following the signage.
What's really funny is to watch the LLDs come roaring up on somebody, force them over by dominating them with their (usually) SUV grill, then gaining 150 feet to tailgate the next person. Psychotherapy is in order for a few of those people.
Other people who want to go fast, move into the 2nd lane when there are longer spaces and they can continue at their preferred speed, then move back over to the 3rd lane to pass. For those people I make the effort to squeeze into the 2nd lane and let them through.
Before someone tries to extrapolate, I don't drive in the left lane of 3 when there is convenient room in the first and second lanes. In fact my nicest trips to Cinci are in the right hand lane at 52-55 when I don't have to hurry.
2014 Malibu 2LT, 2015 Cruze 2LT,
Truly your quote is THE place for the behavior you describe and advocate. It is really too bad the LLC'ers do not cop a clue on this issue.
I'd admit that I usually drive pretty fast on the interstate and regardless of the speed limit I have one rule: Doesn't matter how fast I am driving on the left lane, as long as there are cars going faster than me, I'll yield. I really think that's the basic courtesy that every driver should have.
Also, here's a good rule of thumb...If you are driving on the left lane and EVERY (not one or two) cars on the right lanes are going faster than you, maybe it's a good line to switch lane.
Have you ever heard of passive-agreesive behavior?
Again, LLC proceeding at the limit are fine with me because that's the limit.
That's funny, because, last I checked, it was against the law not to follow the signs on the road. Notice that the sign does not say "Keep Right...Unless you don't feel like it" or "Keep Right...Unless you are going the speed limit". No, the sign says "Keep Right Except to Pass". If it is wrong to speed, it is wrong to break those signs. In fact, AZ law explicitly says, that if you are going less than the flow of traffic (and not passing) then you must move to the right. Notice it does not say, less than the speed limit. If you're going to get upset about people speeding, at least be consistent and get upset at people breaking other sections of equally valid law.
Another reason to be upset at LLCs going the SL: They delay emergency services.
I second that statement.

On the interstates around here it's often two lanes. A major part of I75 is 3 lanes. But rarely are the right two lanes going faster than the third lane. But in other metros I've been in that can be true and not true depending on the hour of the day and the commuters.

Sounds to me like that's a dangerous driving style, aggressive driving, endangering others. I hope someone calls you on it some day. A mature driver gets around and moves on out. We can always hope the left laner figures out others want to pass and moves over.
There have been a few convictions of aggressive drivers and roadrage drivers in SW Ohio.
