it's about 6 blocks north of the Inner Harbor. Still walking distance, however. And... I think we may need to do some walking after all the eating. ;)

will probably join us, since she is in the band, too, and we'll be sound checking around 8-8:30. Dunno if I am free for dinner later in the week, but Ken, if you have time we can prolly do lunch....
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
OK, since we're bringing the families, how 'bout you Bob?

We can get the group up to 10-12 people, I bet.

Lucien -- I'll be around the convention center the whole time so lunch is a definite possibility. Tuesday or Wednesday is open right now. Let's decide on Saturday.

If you folks want to start it up a little earlier, please go ahead by all means! I'll try and get there as soon as I can.

BTW, what's the weather going to be like in Baltimore at this time of year?

Well today, it was in the low-mid 80s. I think they may be calling for scattered showers over this weekend. I would say prepare for anything from upper 50s (low) - mid 80s (high), with daytime around 65-70 or so.

Looks like unless I catch a ride down with Hypov, I'll be bailing. My SVX has no front end on it currently. The headlights are in the trunk, and bumper is in my buddy's garage.

    mike-
I'm weighing details of my very probable Saturday work day. I'm likely, if I do work, to get off @ 2:00pm. At that pace, we could be there by 6:00pm and back to NYC by 12:00 if we left @ 9:00pm. I've still got GF details to work out too, if she decides to come along.

Brenda, for some reason I thought you were out west, in Colorado, or thereabouts... I know you mentioned Texas in an earlier life...

    From 4Car, a UK site:

    WRX:

This link definitely mentions, besides improved handling, getting 7 more HP with better down-low power.

    Land Cruisers:

Ken: Since you enlightened me in How to Pronounce Subaru like a native (accent on the second syllable, suBAru), I'll repay the favor and prepare you for your trip to the Right Coast. Natives pronounce "Baltimore" as "Bawl'mer" (accent on first syllable). (Loosh and Bob, correct me if I blew it.) If you still have your Brooklyn accent and pronounce "Bawl'mer", you might be discovered, so be careful. ;)

juice: If mike and Dave make it on Sat., call my home from O'Shea's and I'll try to break free for a few beers (after dinner). Otherwise, I'll grab lunch with Ken and Loosh during the week.

    "Bawl'mer", "Bawl'mer" ,"Bawl'mer" ...ok, I think I got it.

Brooklyn accent? Never had one. It's funny how so many people think that all Brooklynites speak like they're from "Welcome Back Kotter". ;-)

Yes, you can take the girl out of Texas but you can't take the Texas out of the girl, y'all ....
Probably my comments about "snow country" made you think the mountains, but I'm in "lake effect snow" country .. and I'm not exaggerating when I say that my first winter here we had almost 80" of snow between mid-November and the end of December. We had mountains of snow in parking lots until the end of March.
But ... South Bend home of the fighting irish of Notre Dame and former home to Studebaker and current home of AM General (Hummers) is where I now call home ...

Bob: I meant dinner. But I think you mentioned the wife would be out of town this weekend. So it's still the same group I mentioned.

Serge: I was hoping you could time it with a job interview, so they'd fly you up!

Cool to see Subaru power in VWs. Proof that Subies last longer?

My wife was born in Brooklyn, FWIW. No accent, sorry!

It's not a full blown flu, so I'm pretty sure I could nip it.
I usually drug myself silly (Tylenol cold /Tera flu) during the weekend until I break out of it enough to get to work the following week and hold out till I relapse. :)

Worst case scenario, I'll be seating in the waiting room of the doctor's office listening for my name to be called.

I've struggled with an allergy attack all week... not quite bad enough to stay home from work, but just bad enough to wish I could!

Better than pneumonia in August (been there, done that), so I'll not complain any further :)

Cheers! (and hot tea & couch time, Dave!)

Great weather (low 80's & sunny), great location (Baltimore, Mick O'sheas, & the Inner Harbor), great company (Ken, juice, Lana, Tati, Charlie, Loosh, Q, Ben) , great food (Bangers & Mash), great music (Loosh's group), and ... great to *finally* meet Ken (who also picked up the tab!)!

    Bob
  • kenskens Member Posts: 5,869
Ditto to that, Bob! Had a great first day in Baltimore. Bob kindly drove out to pick my coworker and I at the airport and gave us a quick tour of the inner harbor area. We later hooked up with juice and his whole family, headed over to Mick O'Sheas and chowed down while listening to Loosh and Q play. Great company, great food and music. Thanks to everyone for their hospitality.

It was great to finally put some faces to people I've been chatting with for so long -- especially juice, who I've known for four years now.

Tonight, I just went to a very nice Greek/seafood restaurant called The Black Olive by recommendation of Lucien. I had some grilled portabella mushroom and red sea bream accompanied by some nice Frog's Leap Chardonnay. Finished it off with some home made mixed berry sorbet. Thanks for the tip Loosh -- you were right on.

I'm going to try and hook up with Mike Smith and Lucien on Tuesday for lunch. Anyone else available? Bob?

    Ken-
sorry we couldn't hook up Saturday. Was working on beating the flu/cold awakening. :(
Sounds like you had and am having a ball :D
I'll be sure to grab the next opportunity when I'm able.

Some news that I shared with my fellow crew members this weekend that I'd like to share with you -- my wife Kana is expecting our first!! She's still pretty early (about 4 weeks) so it's still a while away, but I couldn't help but share the great news with you guys!

Do we want a boy or girl? Well, if all little girls are as adorable as juice and Lana's daughter Tati, then I'm all for it. But then again, Charlie was pretty cool too... Ah, boy, girl, as long as it's healthy!

I don't know if your budget (or time) allows for a car rental, but if it does, you should head down to Annapolis. It's about a 45 minute - 1 hour drive south of Baltimore. It's right on the water and is very historic. I think you would love it there.

More Subie fans on the West Coast! Glad you've enjoyed "Bawl'mer" and got to see some of the East Coast Subie gang!
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
The crab dip was the best dish we got. My fish and chips were pretty good, too, I couldn't even finish the whole plate, and I was sharing with my daughter.

The big news was definitely the newly expected Crew member, please congratulate your wife, Ken! Maybe Kyle or Kara? Dave? Mike? Kate? Love those names with a K!

If you do a dinner, let me know. Lunch is hard 'cause I'm back to work, finally, after my LASIK.
