Definition of "Heritage": the new word for Retro.
Bob - aren't you always commenting on how hard it is to update a retro design? What'll be next for them, then?
SSR is too heavy and too pricey, I bet it lasts no longer than the Prowler. At least it has a V8, speaking of heritage.
Early pics of the new STS look good. I like the new Caddy designs, FWIW. The exteriors more than the interiors, though.

Ditto Juice about the new caddys. They look pretty sharp.
Don't like the "ripple" effect on the hood of the new OB, but everything else looks good. Legacy looks better.

There's a big difference between 'trendy' retro/heritage and 'timeless' retro/heritage. The SSR, new Beetle, Prowler are all trendy, and will be out of favor before too long.
On the other hand something that is 'timeless' has staying power, and will be around for years. And yeah, it's hard to do it right.
Mercedes, Bentley, Rolls Royce, Volvo, Saab, BMW all are examples of timeless design. There current models are all visual direct descendents to their ancestors. This takes decades to do, and can't be done overnight.
Trendy = short-term profits
Timeless = long-term profits

Any how, for Subaru, there is an early benchmark for the 2005 SUW, with a competitive price.
The catch is the A class is tiny - I've seen them in Brazil. I wonder how big the CST will be.
-juice
Funny but the A Class is actually larger inside than a C Class. Just different packaging.
Cheers

Show me a dyno chart. Show me BSFC and compare that to a two-stroke, four-stroke and rotary engines.

Bob
As you can see by the video above, that we dyno trialled our 2001 Prototype last month to set up our new dyno test room. We are currently finalising our CCE2003-01 engine and are currently fitting it onto our dyno for tests and trials next month. After independent testing of this engine is completed, we will be publishing the test figures on our website and in the media. BTW, our first test results were better than what we expected! :-)

But whoa, check out the G35 wagon on that same site, squared off back and all! Tons of room, acres more than the FX35, probably for less money. Too bad they couldn't style it more like the coupe's front.
Acura should do a TSX wagon, they already have it in Europe. I was gonna say that latter pic was a TL, but someone beat me to it.
Remember the TL concept from NY? It didn't have wipers. I can't tell if the production car has them or not (I'm sure it does).
Anyone speak German?
Is that the new S class? Mercedes has styling nailed down, all over BMW. It used to be the other way around.

but the E46 sold very very well... so what do I know?
the 7 is awful and the new 5 as well.
-Colin
Some were giving statistics that the 7 was selling better than its predecessor, but we found out that was due to a longer model year. Turns out sales are slower, and for a brand new model that's a disaster.

Mind you, the Honda ain't much to look at, but Damn! That Z4 just plain looks WRONG, and the new 6-Series looks like it has hormone troubles.
The 1-Series really interested me until I saw that it's comprised of vehicles which appear to be bathtubs on wheels.

Interesting that the Quest is being produced on the same line (see bottom picture)!

BTW, this Auto Spies site is great for car news.

Next for Lexus: personality. I hear they may even try to add character in 2005! LOL
Looks like Ed doesn't have Cayennes on close-out yet.

I couldn't help cracking up when I heard him go on about "da peopul of Kalifonia".

Most important upgrade, IMO, is the 2nd-row seats now have a 100mm fore/aft adjustment, which means 3rd-row passengers could have about 4" more legroom if the middle-row seats are moved fully forward. This is a BIG improvement IMO.
Bob
-Brian
Bob - that was your pet peeve with the Pilot, right? Honda was on the ball...
I liked it, but I dunno, I'd just get an Odyssey. Pilot doesn't feel sporty at all.
The Chat *is* your excuse to miss it.

Yeah that was one of them. Now the 3rd-row seat can be made more adult-friendly, once the middle-row seat is moved forward.

And here I thought my own 2 kids were an armful to watch. Thank goodness the dewpoints dropped this evening - so all the kids could be outside. I can handle Brooke (and soon her brother Brogan) in our house, but 7 more kids inside and I go crazy! As my Grandma would say "Rousch-mitten" (sp?).
