In a sincere attempt to offer some insight on driving a Coupe on a daily basis I would say this:
I only hear the exhaust when I have my foot in it. Other times I am either tuning it out or the “drone” is so low as to not intrude on my motoring pleasure.
The Seat belt issue was, for me, only noticeable the first few drives, then it’s ignored and just not a factor. Though I read the sedan has stops to ease the pressure, you might try the Parts Department for a set.
The issue you didn’t raise and maybe should look at is the placement of the power seat controls. This is an annoying issue brought to the forms from time to time. Nearly every time I get in the car I feel the pressure of the plastic facing for the seat controls on my right leg. After a few minutes, (2-3) my mind ignores the feeling of pressure on my leg and I settle into the seat. (Which otherwise is a wonderful fitting seat) I see in the 2007 sedan they finally moved the controls, something they should have done the second model year. Hopefully they will move the controls in the Coupe as well. You may want to pay attention to the feel of the seat with the top facing seat controls to see if this is something Mr/Mrs White can live with.
Finally, another annoying issue is the floor of the front passenger footwell. I haven’t read complaints from others about this but it is, in my opinion, the most irritating of all the idiosyncrasies of the Coupe. The floor pan is raised on the left side and directly in front of the seat. So while you have your legs stretched out in front you can be comfortable but don’t even think about trying to pull your legs up. The left side is so high it’s very uncomfortable. My wife and I joke about this when facing a trip to visit family some two hours away. I can drive the Coupe anywhere but I can’t ride in it (except for short distances). She has, among her fleet, a New Beetle she loves. I can ride in the Beetle but I hate driving it, (can’t get used to the mile of dashboard between the steering wheel and windscreen).
So there you are White ..a forthright opinion from one Coupe driver.

As for the shoulder harness, there are quite a few clips and doo-dads out there that might help, but my thought is they will annoy more than living with the stock position. If the harness is really that problematic, then it's deal breaker for you.
In the words of our beloved Sgt. Hulka: "Lighten up, Francis".
:P
note on a V8 such as the GTO and the exhaust
note on the G-Coupe, I love the sound on
both of these cars, although I'm not sure
about what the note sounds like exactly on a
GTO since I haven't had the opportuniy to be
close enough to one. But if it's anything
like a Mustang V8, then it is sweet! It
appears that the V8's on the American cars
have that muscular throaty burble, and I
think it's so cool! My next-door neighbor
has a 1995 Mustang convertible V8. This is
his weekend car that he uses. I always know
when he's leaving to go somewhere!(lol) and
he's not even flooring it, just regular-
type of driving off.
To me, the G35 Coupe exhaust reminds me of
an Italian car or something. I also love
the sound of the G-exhaust. It sounds like
you're driving an expensive car, much more
than what they cost.
I'm curious as to the exhaust note on the
G35 sedan. I take it it's not quite as
pronounced?? I figured it would be more
muted just by looking at how the tailpipes
are different from the Coupe tailpipes.
Exhaust note or "tone" is kinda subjective, I suppose. The G35 sedan we drove was definitely quieter. However, much to our suprise, the ride was quite coarse (as compared to the coupe). And it had the standard suspension/wheels/tires. I told the salesman he should probably have the tires checked; perhaps they had 60 psi in them. Anyway, I don't think the exhaust sound is a deal-breaker at this point. I think it may come down to how much the dealer is willing to negotiate price on the 06's. Acura dealer came $2,500 off without even asking on 06 TL. I know the BMW dealer here doesn't deal at all. MSRP or there's the door. I'm hoping the Infiniti dealer isn't that arrogant. We'll get serious about this time next month; if they aren't receptive then, I'll wait until September. My past experience has been that they get a little more "friendly" after Labor Day on current-model-year cars.
Not interested in manual trany; would like to see recent model Coupe with automatic.
Thanks

Then I noticed that I could get a G35 base coupe for only a few thousand more than a Mustang GT. I test drove a G35, and was enthralled. The G35 coupe combines looks, power, comfort, and price like no other car. (I've since looked at many makes and models).
Here's my problem. The only exterior color that I like is Lakeshore Slate, but it doesn't come with a black interior, and I must have a black interior! I'm convinced Infiniti is just trying to torment me. Why is black available with Athens Blue but not Lakeshore Slate?
Does anybody know if there will be new colors on the 2007 coupe, and if so, which colors? I'll even settle for guesses at this point.
I want the G35 badly, but I'd hate to settle for one of the other colors, only to see a color I like (with a black interior) on the 2007. On the other hand, I don't want to wait just to see the same old colors. I'm also concerned that I might not like the looks of the 2007 model.
I know. I know. I'm being too picky. Perhaps because this is my first brand new car, and I'm paying what seems like a fortune for it, I want it to be to my liking.
The dealer tells me that there won't be any 2007 G35 coupes until February 2007, but maybe he's just saying that so I'll buy now.
Any advice?
convinced to get the Athens Blue? I really
like that color, but at the Infiniti of Tampa
dealer, they don't seem to have any in the
Athens Blue, and they've got a lot of Coupes.
All I've seen in the back of the dealership
is the Lakeshore Slate, silver, Diamond Graphite, black, one white one and one or two
Laser Reds. I hardly see any Athens Blue
G-Coupes on the road. I'd take another look at it if I were you! Good luck.
Now I'm certain that I want a brand new G35. Just don't know whether to get a 2006, and settle for a color that I'm not crazy about (Diamond Graphite), or wait to see if there are new colors on the 2007.
I'm beginning to realize how, just like it's hard to make a great movie, it's equally difficult to make a great car. There are so many pieces to the puzzle. Infiniti got so many things right with the G35 coupe, but they blew it when it came to the colors. Look at the choices on the 2006 coupe. We have two shades of gray, black, white, and sand. Not very exciting. I suppose black is okay, but it's hard to keep clean, and I don't have a garage. Then there is the Laser Red, which really should be named Screaming Red, or Please Give Me a Ticket Red. Not boring, for sure, but too loud and unoriginal. The Athens Blue is just a mediocre blue. Now I like dark blue, and I like light blue. But not medium blue. Maybe I shouldn't blame Infiniti, but rather the customers, who want the same old colors. (I heard the the Twilight Blue was discontinued because it didn't sell.)
Perhaps Infiniti saw the color problem, and so introduced the Lakeshore Slate. Great! I love it! But why not a black interior? I'd like to wring the neck of whoever made that decision.
So I guess I'm stuck waiting for the 2007. Just hope it doesn't take until February.
It's funny. I had been so willing to just keep driving the old Toyota, but once I started checking out the new cars, I got car fever bad!
The Lakeshore Slate is beautiful but really, looks best paired with the Wheat (tan) interior. IMO
I tried to get this combo but nothing was available in the US or inbound on ship in this color combo with Navigation. Ended up with second choice, Ivory with the Wheat, which I now absolutely love.
My red had a black interior. I found it ordinary. Are you sure you won't reconsider the Wheat? The Slate and Wheat combo is really pretty and is a classy look.

2007 Infiniti Lineup
I agree with Roll. The tan ("wheat") interior is the best color for the "slate" exterior. Frankly, I don't think the slate would even look very attractive with a black interior. But it's a moot point anyway, since they don't offer it. I was at the dealer the other day, and they had a slate/wheat coupe. I liked it a lot.
And since the red color was brought up, I think a lot of people on this board would discourage anyone from buying a red coupe, for far bigger reasons than a simple color preference.
And thanks to you others regarding the Lakeshore / Wheat combo. I still want a black interior, so I'll have to decide which non-Lakeshore exterior color I can live with.
Infiniti has always marched to their own drummer when it comes to the timing of new vehicle release dates haven't they? That's my impression anyway.

as bad as the black when it comes to keeping it clean.
I have the dark blue(Majestic Blue)on my '02 Maxima.
It's been very difficult to keep clean, not to mention that
it shows every scratch and paint chip.
I actually have a photo of the Red G-Coupe on my desktop on my computer. It looks really nice. At this point, my favorite coloron the G is the Ivory Pearl. I really like these new white colors in most of the cars today.
I feel the same way about the different goodies and gizmos
that the various cars either have or don't have. I've
experienced the same thing while checking out the various
cars that I'm interested in. One car may have that extra
something, but missing something else, and the same thing
goes with the next car and on and on. It really is a
challenge to pick the perfect car for each individual's
needs or desires.
Funny, I've had automatic headlights on my last two cars, yet I haven't ever used the auto setting. I guess I'm just too much of a control freak! I also never use the cruise control, even on a long trek.
I just set it and forget it, and I don't have to worry
about turning my lights on when it starts to get dark.
Also, I've been doing this for four years on my '02 Max,
and I have the Xenon's also. So far, so good.
Control freak.
Thanks!
How is the quality for your Bluetooth? I can hear others just fine but some complain I break up and they can't hear me very well.

Another question. Who installs the splash guards, the dealer or the factory? I'm a little concerned about the screws or rivets that hold the splash guards in place. Do you think any bare metal under there was exposed in the process? I live near the ocean, and it seems as if bare metal, wherever it is, and however small, will start to rust. I think the car looks better WITH the splash guards, but if they lead to rust then I'll forego them. Any advice?
I'm getting closer to buying a G35. The only two issues remaining are whether to wait for possible new colors on the 2007 model (because I'm not really excited about the ones currently available), and whether to get splash guards.
I couldn't disagree with you more about their aesthetic value (or lack thereof). I personally think they're nothing short of absolutely hideous. The rear ones are ridiculously huge.
I find the G35 a little chunky in the back in the first place. The splash guards make it look even fatter. I made sure the coupe I bought didn't have them.
Word of warning with respect to colour on the G35 Coupe. DO NOT BUY RED. As you can probably see by the posts the Red is prone to stone chips. I own a 2006 G35 Coupe Sport, Red and the stone chips are awful. I had one salesman tell me that Nissan in general has poor paint, but especially the red.
GeoRocks22
I love the car. Fun to drive, comfortable on a long trip and plenty of push (though as usual, I've never had a car that couldn't use a little more).
As for splash guards I think you may have a hard time finding one without them. I've never see a car without splash guards. Mine came from the distribution port with them installed (I saw it come off the truck) but I think the installation was done at the port, not at the factory.
I have a white over tan (Ivory over Wheat) combo that I like a lot. The Lakeside Slate (silver blue) is very nice with the Wheat too. I suggest you stay away from the red. It's pretty but there have been paint problems with the red, (chipping off all over). I have not had that problem with the Ivory, (2006 model).
As for the colors, I think the Coupe is due for a major rework in 2008 so they may not be offering new 07 colors as they gear up for 08. (I don't know why they couldn't use some of the nice sedan colors on the Coupe though.)
I think you'll like the car, enjoy.

Only 2 problems: the cupholder has a flimsy popup divider which broke 3 months into my ownership and the onboard computer has never worked for computing mileage. I've been keeping my mileage faithfully by manually dividing the distance by the # gallons. I average 19 overall; 26 on long drives to San Diego. Has anyone had onboard computer problems or a busted cup holder?
Someone in another post said they remind him of the handles of shopping carts. The ones I find the funniest are huge formula one style spoilers on front wheel drive cars. The whole idea of the spoiler is to increase downforce. Increasing downforce at the rear of a front wheel drive car is counter-productive.
The funniest
The Infiniti G35 coupe spoiler from 2003-2005 looked like someone left their ironing board on the trunk. It really ruined the lines of an aesthetically clean car.
The dealer is offering an installation for $750, but I have a couple of concerns. First, it seems a bit expensive. Second, I wonder if a dealer or third-party installation will be as good as the factory installation. Any advice?
I too would have preferred the sat radio to have come from the factory, but in '05, it seemed they didn't do many factory installations, in contrast to '06. My dealer did a pretty good job with the installation. One of the trim pieces that they installed in the trunk came loose a couple of months ago, but they glued it back on.
Are the dealer-installed sat radio antennas the same tiny ones that come from the factory for '06? The ones in the past (like on my car) were huge. It's pretty ugly, especially since it's a black antenna on a white car.
BTW, I'm SO glad you changed your mind on the splash guards.
Roll And I just can't agree on the splash guards or the rear lip. :P I like them both. I'm running 10 inch wheels on the rear though so the wheel wells are full.
With your dealer-installed XM or Sirius, can you change the satellite channels with the control on the steering wheel?
And, do you get the clear digital sound, or is it routed through the FM antenna? I'm not well-versed in electronics. Just regurgitating some stuff I've read online.
I had one installed in my ash tray on my '05 coupe, and the antenna is on my dash, on the right, in the corner, very very unnoticeable. It works perfectly. It's hard-wired into FM, so all I do is access the FM channel and turn on the Commander. It's crystal clear 98% of the time. (sometimes when going through heavy trees or downtown, it gets a bit of static). It comes with a remote, and best of all, because it's in my ashtray, it closes up, and noone knows it is there. No worries about taking it out so as to not get stolen. Just my bit of advice!
At the link below, you can take a look at the dealer's instructions for installing satellite radio on a G35 Coupe. Just click on "Click Here to Download Installation Instructions for 06+ Coupe."

So there is no direct connection from the tuner to the car radio?
From step number 7, it appears that the sat radio tuner plugs into the wiring harness, which in turn is plugged into the head unit.
