Before signing the paperwork, I insisted on driving it. First thing I noticed was that the turn signals did not work. The salesman explained that the prep guy forgot to insert the "fuse" for the turn signals. Everything else was working.
Next on highway, I noticed the car does not hold a straight line. It pulled to the left. The salesperson said it is probably "the crown" of the road. So I moved over to the right lane. The car still pulled to the left. He then said that it is probably the tire pressure.
So we went back to the dealer and he had the service manager take the car in and adjust pressure. I went back out on another test drive and now noticed that the car is pulling to the right.
The only thing unique about this 2006 G35x was that I had the dealer install the 18" sport wheel package. That option is perfectly legal on G35 sedans. He said the pulling probably has something to do with those wheels? :confuse:
Any idea? Needledd to say that I did not sign and take delivery. I am not convinced that it is simple problem. I will go back to the dealer this coming Saturday and drive a 2006 G35X w/o the 18" wheel.
Thanks in advance for your feedback.
I would suggest you check out 3M tint. Around 3 years ago they came out with a special tint (can't remember the name) that was more durable and effective than the "base" tint they sold -more on par with the effectiveness of the tint that had metal in it. I have had it on the back window of my maxima for three years and have been happy with it. I have also had experience with the "base" 3M tint on another vehicle and was happy with it too (no peeling). Who knows they may have something even better out now. The shop that did the tinting encouraged me to stay away from the tint with metal in it. Hope this helps.
Thanks
Have you resolved your problem?
As it is, right now I am driving the car with rotors that are not smooth. In fact, I doubt that the car would pass inspection in NY State with the rotors the way they are.
That just seems really odd. Do you drive especially hard? I might try another dealer if these guys don't have any ideas left on fixing your problem. Good luck and let us all know if you find a solution.
ANYONE who has black front rims has the SAME problem.
I sent a 3 page letter to Infiniti Consumer Affairs.
Everyone should do the same. I am also telling everyone that I see with a G35X with black front rims to complain to the dealer. Now when my car goes in there every 2500 miles, I am going to insist on a brake report and hold them to it.
I am looking to buy a 2003 G35.
I currently drive an 1989 acura legend with which I have not had much in the way of problems. Original rotors lasted 125,000 miles.
I have test driven a 2003 and really like the car.
What worries me is the number of problems I have read on this board. Warped rotors, squeaking noises , etc on cars that are only a couple of years old if that.
Cans someone re-assure me that this is a really solid car.
Thank you.
I love the 05x it is an awesome drive
Good luck on your search.
What year is your car. I have a 2005 G35x and you seem to have the same problem that I have. I have brand new rotors with 1500 miles on them that are already cut up.
We (ok my wife) has a beautiful, loaded, dealer serviced, 2003 g35 sedan with low miles in great condition with everything but NAV which we are considering selling because we need a wagon of some sort! Let me know if you are interested, We are in SW FL.
Oh by the way, it has been nearly flawless mechanically and has no problems whatsoever.

I sent a 3 page letter to Infiniti Consumer Affairs last week and I am awaiting their response.
So it sounds like they basically saying, "we will give you a car with 265 hp but won't give you the proper brakes to stop the car without damaging it." I wonder it your car would pass a NYS safety inspection according to the letter of the law if the rotors are worn. I don't think that mine will.
I don't want to say what dealer yet as I want to give them the chance to make the problem right, but it's on Long Island. That should narrow it down.
Do you have a 2005? How many miles and what have they done so far?
I have a new 2006 M35X with the exact same problem. I found a service bulletin that might help you and your dealer. Go to www.infinitihelp.com and search under FX and 2003. Service Bulletin 04043 dated 9/07/2004 on page 2 deals with this problem and provides a dealer solution. I'm scheduled to take mine in next Tuesday. Hope this helps.

As far as replacing it take a chance it's easy.
Please let me know what the dealer says. Obviously, that is something that if it were common, they would sell no cars at all. I'm sure they'll take care of it under warranty.
ECU Resetting Procedures
Timing is extremely critical. If it is NOT DONE within the specify time, the ECU will not reset and the Check Engine Light (CEL) will continue to remain ON.
A stop watch or an analog clock with a second’s needle will be useful.
Operations Procedures for Basic reset.
1. Confirm that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch “ON” and wait 3 seconds.
2. Repeat the following steps (2a and 2b) procedures quickly five times within 5 seconds.
2a. Fully depress the accelerator pedal (HARD).
2b. Fully release the accelerator pedal.
3. Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 10 seconds until the CEL starts blinking.
4. Fully release the accelerator pedal (while the CEL is still blinking)
5. Wait about 10 second.
6. Fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for more than 10 seconds.
7. Fully release the accelerator pedal (The CEL light will continue to blink).
8. Turn ignition switch to “OFF” position and now you can start the car. The CEL light should be gone.
If the CEL light continues to remain ON, repeat the above steps. Timing is EXTREMELY critical to resetting the ECU.
I sent a 3 page letter to consumer affairs and just mentioned the brake noise in passing and the rest was about premature brake pad wear. I got a letter back that said brake noise is a problem with all manufacturers, if you have a problem other than that bring it to your authorized dealer.
They are worse than any other American can manufacturer.
Help!!
To anyone thinking of buying a G35 coupe specially with the sports package...beware. Infiniti dealers are worse than Nissan dealerships.
If you are determined that oem is the only type of NAV you want, I have heard the Acura NAV has many more features like voice commands than the Infiniti version. I wouldn't choose one car over the other based on this factor alone though.
I just bought a 6mt coupe. This morning when I was sitting inside to car(car was shut off), I found that I could shift the gear shifter into any gear without pressing the clutch at all. Is this normal? Can you guys do this on your 6mt? When the engine is shut off, don't we have to press the clutch in order to shift into gears?
Thanks
To refresh, at 6,000 miles my front brakes were grinding and the front rotors were scored. The dealer resurfaced the rotors
At 7,000 miles the front brakes were grinding again and the resurfaced front rotors were scored again. Dealer replaced the rotors and brakes
At 8,000 miles the NEW front brakes were grinding again and the new front rotors were scored again. Took it back to the dealer who told me to call Infiniti Consumer Affairs as he didn't know what else to do.
Consumer Affairs initially told me they would send a divisional techincal specialist (DTS) to look at my car. After waiting over a month for them to schedule an appointment, they now tell me that since the brakes are a maintenance item and they won't even inspect the car despite the abnormal wear that I am experiencing on these brakes. When I insisted that my car be repaired correctly as it hasn't been properly fixed from the first time I brought the car in, their answer was that since the car was fixed when I left the dealer (i.e. new brakes and rotors), it's not their problem that the brake problems keeps coming back. They said I could bring the car back to the dealer to be fixed, but CA wouldn't say that I wouldn't have to pay for repairs. Think about it, why would I pay for new brakes and rotors that might only last for 1,000 miles. CA told me to either call the General Manager of the dealership or the Better Business Bureau and that there was nothing more that they could do. It seems to me that Infiniti Consumer Affairs is no more than a sham as they've done nothing to help me, THE CONSUMER. I called the GM and he's currently looking into the problem but can't do anything until after the 1st of the year as Infinti corporate is closed until them but he assured me that he would try to solve the problem.
