That is a lot of mileage for the front pads. I have changed my front pads every 15,000 miles! Next time ask them for measurements on the pads. "okay" doesn't really tell you much. I believe new pads are 10 mm and pads are replaced at about 2 to 3 mm.

I replaced my Eagle GS-D tires with some Yokohama tires (YK 420). They seem pretty good to me. I do not drive my car very hard and I could not justify paying over $200 for the michelin pilot tires. I have only used toyo tires about 10 years ago on my celica. As far as I can remember, they were ok. They are probably different now, hopefully better too...

    Good luck

Thanks Eticketride. I was afraid of the pads. I need to do my homework before I go to the dealer next time. I just don't know enough about cars to know the exact questions to ask, but I sure am learning here.

I am thinking about the Toyos, but I don't want to lose any performance or have problems in the rain. Maybe others have tried them on the G35. I got a price of The Michelin MXV4 that are V rated in the 90s for $729.00. Goodyear Eagles were priced at $831 and the Toyos at $535. I will check out the Yokohama tires.
    Thank you!

We got an Infiniti loaner under duress for one week - they said you cannot drive it outside the city. After that, the dealer wanted it back and we got an Enterprise rental car - Jeep Liberty. Everyone at Infiniti says we were treated OK but a Jeep Liberty is not a loaded G35X. I am not 100% happy but we did get some kind of loaner. Its still Infiniti's fault that they could not identify the right part and took two weeks to figure this out (both US and Infiniti Canada customer service were involved from the start, so it's not just the dealer).

My AC abruptly quick working (after stopping for 30 min). The dealer said that a rock severed one of the tubes in the condenser (in front of hood area). Given the shield on the bottom, I am having a hard time with this explanation. I will get to see it but have not yet. Obviously, it is not covered under the warrenty (approx $700). I saw one other person post a very similar problem on the G35driver.com board. Anyone else encounter this problem or have any suggestions?

    Hi all-

I hope someone can help me with this. I have a 2003 G35 sedan that has the normal factory radio. It is RDS enable and works fine. The radio station scrolls on the screen as well as the name of the song playing on many stations. I bought a 2005 g35 coupe not too long ago and also have the RDS enable. However, the radio station nor the name of the songs appear on the radio screen. Does anyone know what I could be doing wrong?? Thanks in advance!

I also have a 04 G35X. About a week ago I experienced the acceleration while braking problem twice within 15 sec. As I was traveling on business as soon as I arrived at my destination I found a Infiniti dealer and reported the problem. They had the car for a week and could not duplicate the problem, big surprise!!!
I also spoke with Infiniti Customer Service, again no help. Then this last Tuesday on my way home the cruise control disengaged on its own, this happened so often that I just turned the cruise off. This vehicle is now in with my local dealer, I told them I do not want it back until they can tell me that this problem is fixed, but my gut feeling is that I am going to get nowhere with this problem. This problem is a time bomb just waiting to go off again. This is too bad as I was pretty pleased with the car with the exception of the seat controls built into the seat, but I did not find out about that problem until I spent 7 hrs. in the car on a business trip. Which really caused a pain in the butt. Does anyone know of a way that I can get out of my lease and get rid of this accident waiting to happen?

I have a 2004 G35 coupe. My SRS light now stays on. It seemed to happen about the time I repaced the cabin air filter, I beilieve I may have disconnected the wire to the air bag to gain easy access to the filter. I did reconnect it but????Would this cause the problem? Is there an easy way to reset? I've done similar things before to repace steering wheels with no such issues. Can anyone help?Thanks.....

I have a 2005 G35 coupe with the sports-tuned suspension. The ride is firm to say the least but it goes around corners like it's on rails - wheee!

However, from day 1, I've had a persistent problem with rattles from the dash. After a while, I narrowed it down to the air vents. The problem is in fact possible to eliminate by pointing the vents all the way up or all the way down but I live in California and it's summer so that's not really a solution.

Has anyone else experienced this problem. I'm wondering whether it happens on non-sports suspension models and whether anyone else has complained to their dealership about it?

I have noticed a similar problem with my 2003.5 G35 5AT during the last month or so.

At first I thought it was me letting you of the accelerator and the car jerks or hessitates for a brief second. I have noticed it at speeds between 30-40mph (2nd to 3rd), as well as highway driving over 65mph. I have not paid attendtion to the rpm needle to see if it is in fact happening between 1-2000 rpms. It happens about once a week, but I can't explain it to the dealer or duplicate the problem if I try. So I have not had the car looked at. I may go soon for my 30K service and get it looked at.

Lately I have been driving the car harder so I don't notice it anymore!

Just so you know my ( SELF ) acceleration happen during hard acceleration, I pressed hard on the gas pedal and I was pushing about 6000 rpm's and the gas pedal just left my foot as it accelerated on its own going over 6000 rpm's!!! This happen three times!!!!!!! I had to hit the brakes to disengage it!!!!!!!!

I have the same problem Jeremy - I have a '05 G35x and at times I can hear high-pitched rattles from somewhere on the dash - either the right side, or sometimes the left. It's usually when I'm playing music...when I drive home today and if I hear the rattles, I am going to shut off the A/C to see if that alleviates the problem. Frustrating.

Acceleration when braking: could it be problem with the cruise control kicking in? if the braking deactivates the acceleration, could be.

I actually came out here to see if anyone with a 6MT has had the clutch stick on them. Mine did this morning and before I realized it (radio was up with windows down) RPMs hit pretty high. Not a big deal, except I was going nowhere with traffic barreling down on me. Had to tap the clutch a couple times before it came loose. Checked when I got to work and I know it didn't stick on the floor mats. Anyone else have this problem?

Air Vent Rattles: I have heard this in mine too. I play my music/radio loud sometimes so I don't notice it as much. I try to listen to it again tonight.

Ok, while sitting in the car the other day I set the memory seats for both 1 and 2. Now if my wife had to use the car, the seat is pushed all the way forward. When I open the door and hit the '1' button for me, it doesn't move the seat and steering wheel to my position. The only way I can get it to work is to turn the car on, then hit '1' -- what am I doing wrong? It is a pain in the butt to do this - I thought I could just hit the button when I was standing outside the car (with the car turned off) and it would work. Thanks.

Hi -- our 2004 G35 Sedan had the same problem -- people thought it was the tire eqt, but it wasn't. The dealer knew what it was and fixed it: there is a strut in the rear that had worked lose, so they fixed it. Problem solved immediately.

    Hope this helps!
  • dkmdkm Member Posts: 19
Thank you for the note. The proble just went away on its own after a few weeks. The dealer didn't know what it was. The strut problem only applies to the 2004 sedans I was told. The 2005 sedans "apparently" don't have that problm. Anyways my car is working 100% and I am happy.

I had the same problem. Turns out there was nothing wrong, it's just that the system only adjusts for a new driver if you actually use the key fob to interact with the car.

The RFID signal will get you into the car and let you start it, but the car doesn;t recognize a new driver unless you actually lock/unlock etc., via the key fob.

Try reprogramming both fobs according to the owner's manual and then keep the above info in mind.

    Hi all,

My 2004 G35 sedan is due for a 15k maintenance service. How much should 15k service cost at a dealership? I am in Southern California.

Also, I heard that there's free brakepad replacement till 30,000 miles on 2004 G35 Sedan. Is this true?

    Thanks

Mine seems to take an unreasonable amount of time before it registers anything close to an accurate temperature reading. I plan on mentioning it the next time I service my vehicle.
  • mkrzyzekmkrzyzek Member Posts: 17
I have the same problem with mine. One day it was in the 80's and the temp gauge read 102. What the...???
  • neptungrllneptungrll Member Posts: 48
I went today at 40,141 miles and got new tires. I had Eagle RSA and have now put on the Michelin MXM4 S8. They are P215/55/R17 93V. I paid $707.29 on, balanced and out the door. I like them so far. A smoother and quieter ride. Of course the other tires were about gone.

I asked about the brakes at this tire place. He told me the slight pulsing is probably a rotor needing turned. I am getting an alignment there Tuesday and the guy is going to put the rotors on the machine to check them. I am wondering about the pads too since they have 40,000 miles on them! I sure have a lot of brake dust to clean every week when I wash my car.

Anyone have suggestions for aftermarket pads that don't make as much dust? I probably asked this too soon and will just go back and search the files here.

Thanks for everyone's help. I appreciate it.

I am having problems with the electric motor for the driver's side and the window is stuck in the down position. I have tried to remove the door panel to raise the window until I can go to the dealership but seem to be missing a screw or latch somewhere. Does anyone have a set of instructions on how to remove this panel?
    This is on a 2003 G35 coupe.

Has anyone else seen other threads related to this? My '03 has the same problem. Temp varies greatly and changes at odd times. I'm wondering if the Japanese have a different temperature scale they use.... :confuse:
  • neptungrllneptungrll Member Posts: 48
Mine has always taken a while after I get going in the car to register correctly. I will get in the car and the temp will say 99 degrees or some odd number. After about 5 minues of driving it gradually comes down to the real temp. I have checked it on banks that project the temp and it is consistent. I am not sure why it starts out so high all the time...........maybe it is the sun, although it does it when the car is in the garage. 2003 sedan G35.

Looks like you got the same size replacement tire. Maybe more companies are starting to make that size. As far as brake dust, there are several aftermarket brake pads that you can buy. I think two of the most popular are the EBC Greenstuff and Hawk. I am not sure on how different they will perform compared to the original. But they will give you less dust. I will have to make that decision too pretty soon. Have you tried search this and the other forum? It is very confusing because everyone has a different opinion and different ideas on what their needs are. Good luck!

Can't help w/ the door panel, but the same thing happened to my window. But mine started by rolling up very slow for about 2 weeks, then got stuck down. I managed to roll it up cause it would come up about 2 inches and then hit some limit sensor and go back down, but I helped it up. Just have to leave it there till next week when I get it to the dealer.

I have noticed a strange noise in my engine, usually only happens in the morning (or first time of the day I drive it). It sounds almost like a clutch is kicking in but it happens even w/ the ac is off, it is kind of a click and then a swooshing noise and I only notice it if I take off pretty slowly. After it is warm it doesn't happen anymore or even later in the day. I plan to take it to the dealer for some other problems but wondered if anyone has heard this noise.

Also, the auto tranny seems to get confused on shifts once in a great while. It kind of forgets to shift, probably a tcm software problem or something, but just wanted to make sure this is not a sympton of this car's tranny going out. Has 40k pretty easy highway miles. I'll ask the dealer to check it out but they probably won't do anything cause it's not really serious.

While driving on the highway last week something (that fell of a truck) hit and shattered the windshield of my 2005 G35x sedan. Replacing the windshield is fully covered under my insurance policy so I requested OEM glass. It has been a week and the glass still has not been delivered. I called the dealership and they said it was delivered twice and broken both times. They also said that the windshield may have to be ordered 5 times before I get one that is not broken!! The problem is with how the windshields are packaged and shipped from the manufacturer. Since my car is undrivable with the shattered windshield and I cannot wait indefinitely for a pristine replacement, I have no choice now but to get after-market glass.

Does anyone have any experience using after-market glass of an Infiniti?? The auto glass repair shop says that the after-market glass meets all of the Infiniti standards except that it does not have the logo on it.
  • esfoadesfoad Member Posts: 210
I also had a windshield replaced on my 05 G35X. Mine was from a stone that came off a vehicle going the other way on a highway since there were no vehicles near me on my side. Anyway, the shop replaced the windshiels with a PPG one. Other than the Infiniti logo, it's identical, with the same markings around the edges and the mirror mounting as original. So, as long as the replacement is from a quality manufacturer, it should be fine.

Hi - I just bought a certified 2003 G35 sedan, but the dealership forgot to include the owner's manual. I'm going to go back for it tomorrow, but for now I'd really appreciate it if somebody could tell me how to release the gas cap cover. I couldn't find the button (if there is one) anywhere inside the car. Thanks.
  • naddynaddy Member Posts: 2
Please ignore the question. I figured it out. I had to unlock all doors using the key fob, then press the right side of the gas cap cover lid. (How intuitive...lol.)

On the bright side, the acceleration, braking, cornering are absolutely top notch. I love this car and I'm so glad I now know how to feed it.

The problem (in subject line) when I googled on it appears to be wide-spread. This afternoon, I will be dropping of my 6mth old G35 (2004) to the dealer for the 4th time, reporting the exact same problem. To date, they have replaced the entire gas-tank twice, and pressure release vent system once, and the shutter value twice (as part of service bulletin #05031). Infiniti (both the dealer and the company) kept my car for 1 week determined to find the problem. They had the entire rear end in pieces, and basically, replaced anything to do with the fuel tank.

Well, the problem went away for 2 months, and yesterday, when trying to "fill up" with that liquid gold, it started all over again. Tank (near empty) took about 20 bucks, then the pump "clicked". I was unable to sqeeze any more in to the tank. Well, I could have stood there for another 15 minutes, and squeezed it in about 1 cup at a time, but at that point, I was pretty pissed.

In my state (MN), they have a "lemon law" which I am now thinking of pursuing. It allows for an outright replacement of a vehicle if they can't fix the same problem with 4 attempts.

I would like to hear from others who are running into this inability to fix this problem. Post here, and cc back to nmarriott (AT) sjm (DOT) com

It is definitely a bigger issue with a small number of cars, and a smaller issue with a few cars. I've had my sedan since June 2002. For the first couple of months, I had this problem a few times (less than 5). I fixed it by not placing the nozzle entirely in the tank, leaving about 1/2 inch of space for it to vent (there was no service bulletin at the time AFAIK). I haven't had the problem again in almost 3 years, and did not have any part replaced. I hope you get your car fixed.
  • shmoopyshmoopy Member Posts: 24
See the owner's manual, it's simply the ABS system doing an automatic self-test. It happens each time you start up and get to about 12 mph.

so whats up with the fogging of the headlight lenses?? has anyone had any luck with the dealerships replaceing them??
  • pinkblondiepinkblondie Member Posts: 2
Hey...have u had any luck with the fogging lenses? My 2005 does the same thing...
  • rmejiarmejia Member Posts: 8
no, took it to the dealership, all they did was take them off and clean them. that lasted about a week, then went back to be fogged again. they will not replace them or fix them. I went and looked at the '05's and asked if they had the same problem, they said they fixed it by putting the translucent film that you'll find on the edge of your doors, and sealed the lenses with that. I guess it didn't work for you....
  • robertrrobertr Member Posts: 125
Why do you think the problem "went away for 2 months", then "mysteriously reappeared"? I think the problem has to do with the sending device in the fuel pump you are using to fill your tank. I have experienced this "problem" also, but it has always been "fixed" by switching to a different fuel pump. At the station I use most often, for a while I always had this problem at one of their pumps so I avoided using that pump. I had complained about it, and they subsequently fixed it. That said, I think some cars are more prone to it than others, but I think it is the interplay between the cars fuel tank design and the gas pump being used.

Sorry...not sure if I am posting in the right section. I just lowered my G with Tein springs and had it aligned. The mechanic told me he made everything as straight as possible but, the front is -1.5 and the back is -2.5. Has anyone else gone this route and just wondering how bad the tire ware is at this setting.
  • pinkblondiepinkblondie Member Posts: 2
i wonder how hard it would be to take the lenses off myself and clean them. have u done that? if so...let me know how it went....thanks...kori

i've had my 04' g35x for a month now, and ive got to say, the AWD was a big selling point for me,but it SUCKS. When i was driving around in a loaner 04' G35 (not awd) today and yesterday, it simply has more power than mine. i mean it flies compared to my g35x. Has anyone else experenced this?
  • klpeelklpeel Member Posts: 46
I haven't noticed a difference. You might want to check to see if there is a problem with your car. The AWD does add a modest amount of weight, but otherwise, it should function just like the RWD until and unless you encounter a slippery road (oil, water, gravel, snow, etc.), at which time power is shifted to the front wheels (up to 50/50, depending on the need). I don't know if there is a difference between the '04 x and the '05 x, though. I am just a couple months into my '05 x ownership, and have found it an absolute pleasure, particularly the week I spent in August racing around the twisty country roads of West Virginia.

I think your car is locked in "snow mode".

    Check the snow mode button.

Black stains have appeared on the rims of my 3 month old 05' coupe. The dealership said it was something that probably splashed on them from the road and pretty much blew me off. Anyone have the same problem or know what it could be.
  • roxy2roxy2 Member Posts: 1
I too have one wheel with black stains on it. My car was purchased in May and noticed it about two week ago. I think it is a manufacturers defect that should be corrected, good luck.
  • modifikationmodifikation Member Posts: 8
i should have test drove more cars, ie- not at AWD model! im sorry to all the g35x owners, but i hate my g35x, im trading mine in for a coupe tomorrow, its just not as fast and light as the RWD models and is too heavy, tru it does have speed and i drove it alot around Virginia last night, but its not fast enough for me. If i cant get a good deal for the trade, ull see my stock g35x for sale up here most likely.
  • esfoadesfoad Member Posts: 210
I have an 05 G35X too. I love my car. It has plenty of power for me and I love the handlong. I picked it up in April so no experience with the AWD in wnter yet but I'm certain to be impressed. Perhaps you should look at the G35 6MT. It has the same HP as the coupe but gives you the convenience of 4 doors, if that's a consideration.

Hi. Would like to know.....what does a regular tune-up cost? My Audi was $500. every time I went in... but the Buick is $200. And how often does the mfg. recommend tuning? Thanks!!!
