You can go to tirerack.com and look in their brake section for brake pads. I'm not sure that they have any for the G35 yet. I haven't checked into it in detail, since I'm not in the market yet. (The powerslot rotors also look good.)

I would imagine that someone has something out now. It is just a matter of finding where. Maybe ask over at G35Driver.com or freshalloy.com... :)

looked at the Wood trims at g35accessories.com and i am curious to know if anyone ever tried one of those. What i mean to ask is, if anyone purchased those stuff..did they put them in themself or did they have the service department do it. any help would be appreciated

Just wanted anyone who is interested to know that I had my Infiniti mechanic check to see if there were any TSB out about the clock and he claimed he had never heard of such a problem. He went ahead and took it apart and showed me that the two tiny bulbs that are in there each have an orange plastic cover on them to make them glow amber. We decided to take them off and last night I checked out the result and it is definately brighter. Not great but improved!

I am extremely frustrated with the dealership. I recently purchase a 2003 G35. One of the options i requested on the car was xenon headlights. These were included in the original price quote when I went to pick up the car my sale person, rewrote the quote eliminating the xenon headlight. He claimed they came standard on the car and did not have to be listed separetly and priced the car at the same price. I purchased the care assuming the xenon headlights were on the car and payed the original price quote. It brought to my attention a couple of weeks ago by a friend that the car did not seem to have xenon headlights.

When I told the sales person and the manager this they said they will refund me the cost of the lights. I wanted to have the lights on the car that I originally requested and payed for. They both claimed that it was too costly for them to install and they would mail me a check and give me a free service. Now It is over three week, numerous phone calls and no check and no xenon headlights.

one of the reason I bought an infinity was because of dealer reputation. I have all the written documentation to support my recollection of events. I am frustrated and angry that a new car purchase of an infinity can lead to such fustration. At this point I am notifing you for satisfaction. I want the xenon headlights and nothing else. I find the intentional misrepresentation of the car
that was sold at best terrible representation of what infinit stands for and most likey illegal. What do you think or better yet what does the NYS Bureau of Conumer Affair think. I want satisfaction. I will settle for nothing less.

Take the matter to NNA customer service. There must be a way to retrofit the xenons to your car, it was wrong of them to lie to you and they should eat the cost of putting in the xenons or get you a new car with the xenons. I think you'll find NNA customer service very helpful, just make sure to follow all phone call with letters to both NNA and your dealer.
  • faenorfaenor Member Posts: 99
If the events transpired the way you describe then that is totally unacceptable behavior for even a car dealership with a horrible reputation. It becomes doubly unacceptable for an Infiniti dealership; a marque who stands on the pedestal of excellent customer service as a badge of what sets them apart from everyone else.

I would write NNA with copies to the Dealership, mention the offending representatives by name with an accounting of the timeline of events and supporting documents...

If you signed a delivery order and they changed it AFTER your signature was affixed, that was not only bad business practice, it was downright illegal.

I've had nothing but stellar service from my Infiniti Dealership (Infiniti of Pleasanton here in California) but unfortunately that doesn't mean that there aren't less than stellar reps at other Infiniti locations.

My read is that they are trying to see how much they can sweep under the rug with you for their mistake, in other words, how much you will swallow... Don't budge an inch... You made a good faith bargain and you put your money up for the product as listed... Retrofitted xenons be damned, they owe you a car that was built with them in it... If you roll over, then they will be just as sloppy with someone else (and this goes for any car brand) They should make the problem right to your satisfaction and take the cost out of the salespersons commission/paycheck...

That would keep anyone straight next time...

    Good luck to you!

I am getting about 13 miles per gallon in the city. Is this normal. What are you guys out there getting per gallon? I don't excessively accelerate.
    Please advise

I try to keep the rpm's below 3200, although I occasionally punch it. I'm getting around 15 with a 60/40 highway drive. I know this is low but I'm not sure what can be done. I'm thinking it might just be the break in period but I have 1500 miles on the car. Someone help me make more of my gas?!?!?!?!

I have G35 sport I picked up in april..has about
9000 miles on her right now. The first couple
months I was getting 15/19 mpg and on trip to
Las Vegas got 20/21 mpg...I now average about
17/21 mpg and on trips to Las Vegas and Reno
I got 23/24 mpg. I have a pretty heavy foot while
driving on the Southern California freeways..but
I did drive very conservative on the last trips
to Vegas/Reno and feel that 23/24 mpg is probably
the max I can expect on gas mileage.

I got my G35 back in August and tried the heated seats then just to see how hot they would get - they barely heated up at all, so I checked out the manual and found that the seats will only heat up if the outside temperature is cooler than the inside temperature in the car (I think it also depends on what temperature you have your climate control set to). Now that it is cooling down a bit, the heated seats are working much better...but still not as good as they were in my Audi A4.
  • ltnguye3ltnguye3 Member Posts: 6
I do mainly city driving, since I only live 3 miles from work. Any highway driving is done on weekends only. I've only had my car since August, but the mileage has been surprisingly good. It averaged about 17 MPG initially, but I now get about 19-20 MPG on a regular basis.
  • fntfnt Member Posts: 31
I have 2,700 miles and consistently get around 18 MPG in a mix of freeway and city driving (more city than freeway). Supposedly, mileage gets better past 4,000 miles.
  • yongbryongbr Member Posts: 6
When I first got my G35, I got about 19-20 mpg (50/50 city/highway). I now get 22.8mgp for the last 2500 miles ( I have 7400 mi now). Around 5500 miles, I took a trip on the highway at 70-75 mph and got 28 mph for the trip. I only occasionally have a lead foot.

At 15k miles on my G35 my very steady average is 27.5 this is with about 95% highway driving, my everday commute... and since that stinging speeding ticket I got in the VERY beginning of owning the car, I have calmed down, speedwise, quite a bit (75-80 very rarely over 85 for short times)... the 27.5 is the average of the last 7 fill ups...

I just switched over to Mobil 1 at the 15k service and I'm curious as to what it will do for me with gas mileage... I keep pretty comprehensive data for mileage, so I'll let people know if the synthetic makes a difference...

Hi Dane4...I'd be very interested to see if your mileage improves with the Mobil 1. Let me know how you make out.

    Good luck with your G!

One minor issue with the G: my driver side wiper blade is already completely worn and smearing rather than wiping away. It's only rained 3 times! No big deal, but the owner's manual doesn't seem to indicate the replacement size. Anyone know?
  • palmergpalmerg Member Posts: 40
I only looked back a few pages but couldn't find a reference to how long you have owned the G. If in your judgement its premature wear maybe you should bring it back to the dealer to see if they will replace it or if something may have caused this problem.

Anyone else notice this kind of early wear? I would like to know since my car will be in at the end of the month.

If you don't think it necessary to go to the dealer with this problem then hopefully Infiniti used standard sized blades that could be easily refilled (i.e. Anco blades, etc.)

    Good luck,
    Gary

I've owned my car since 9/25/02 and have 1600 miles in mostly highway driving. I just washed the car and put a coat of rain-X on, and checked out the wiper blades. They are definitely "el-cheapo" brand. lol. I'm not going to bug the dealer with such a trivial complaint, as I don't want to give myself a reputation with them. I'll just replace and move on. If the good ones wear quickly, then I'll know it's a problem with the wiper and not the blades.

Does anyone have a problem with the Speed Volume Control feature of the G35? I have been experimenting with it for the last few weeks. My experience has been that it properly increases the volume as my speed (and noise) increase, but then deceleration does not return the volume to my original level. I always end up adjusting it one or more times, and now this is getting annoying. Has anyone else had this difficulty? More importantly, is anyone aware of how this feature could be disabled? The owners manual says nothing on that point. Thanks!

i've been told that no kits/accessories are approved for replacement to xenon s. call infinity and ask the service manager.

with regards to fair play, i wouldn't hesitate to seek out the general sales manager in person with your documentation.

i've always found that writing is good for legal reasons , and telephone calls or face to face are good for quicker resolutions.

    good luck

I believe if you push the mode or might be audio button past bass, fade, balance and so on, you will find the svc and you can set it to low, med, or high. I'm not sure if you can turn it off completely, but this should point you in the right direction.
  • dulnevdulnev Member Posts: 652
The wiper cannot be worn out after just 3 months. It's simply dirty. I've had this problem on my Acura TL where I had to thoroughly wipe the wiper with a rag every 3-4 weeks. Try it, you'll see the difference immediately.

I don't have the G yet, just looking at it right now. During the test drive I noticed that lumbar support was in a completely incorrect position - too low. Has anyone else found this to be the case?
  • frozefroze Member Posts: 40
My G35 has a light rattle comming from the front drivers side of the car. My previous experience with dealers finding rattles has not been good. Just wondering if anyone else had this problem and if so where was it comming from, and was it fixed.
  • mvargo1mvargo1 Member Posts: 298
The audio buttom can be used to turn off SCV

Lumbar for the driver's seat can be adjusted via a lever on the inboard side of the seat.
  • stsurbrookstsurbrook Member Posts: 285
Thanks for your post about the radio. The volume increase from standstill to highway speeds was driving me nuts as I was constantly increasing the volume at highway speeds and decreasing it when stopped. The default is "High" and changing it to "Med" appears to be just about perfect for me.

    Thanks again!

I am very interested in purchasing a G35 but found some issues on 1st test drive earlier this week. Drove a 2003.5 G w/leather,premium/wood/winter pkgs. The car arrived at dealer ~ 2 weeks ago, had 13 miles on odo. Handling seemed ~ as good as BMW 530! However, as noted in previous postings on this board, I felt a vibration through the gas pedal between 30-50 mph a few times during my 12 mile test drive... rather annoying since I do a lot of driving in this range. The dealer said he had not been told that before (obviously does not read this town hall). I did not get a chance to thoroughly exercise the A/C so don't know if it has been fixed. Dealer did acknowledge that the clock lighting was weak as has been the case for years on other infiniti products. I also found the interior materials to be inferior and cheap looking compared to the competition. Overall, I am still interested in purchasing a G35 but will likely wait until next year in the hope that Infiniti listens to their customers and fixes these and other startup year issues.

I just picked up my G35 sedan yesterday and noticed something odd driving in to work this morning. When accelerating gently the car seems to shift from 1st to 2nd gear normally but then immediately shifts again...like it's only in 2nd gear for a second. The result is a kind of stutter feeling since it shifts twice so close together. If I accelerate more quickly it seems to shift more normally.

Anyone had any similar issues? Does it sound like the tranny is a little off?
  • nycarbuyernycarbuyer Member Posts: 23
I have experienced the same thing, though I've never really been bothered by it. When you accelerate so slowly, the adaptive transmission senses the ease of your throttle inputs and responds by shifting quickly up the gears, "thinking" because you won't need the torque that is available at high RPMs in the low gears at the rate you are accelerating. So, it upshifts so quickly because based upon the throttle input, the only power you need is available at the higher gears, and fuel consumption is maximized at a high gear at ultra-low RPMs as opposed to burning gas simply for the sake of working your way through the gears.

It's great technology, and it's doing what it's supposed to do, but it is also extremely sensitive (maybe too sensitive) and takes some getting used to.

Follow-up to a continuing problem with movement in front seat. The dealer has decided to replace the seat (at this point I am waiting for them to call and say the seat is in).

Nissan of North America tells me ther is nothing wrong with the seat - however they have not driven the car. I now have 13K miles and have experienced similar problems as other G35 owners:
AC Noise, Clock Light poor, CD Skips - doesn't load.

Overall I am happy with the G - gas mileage averages 25 plus using top grade of gas.

Has anyone had the A/C or seat problems with the 2003.5 model.
  • pfschimpfschim Member Posts: 29
I just experienced an odd and potentially troubling problem. Taking my son to school this morning, typical N.Cal Oct morning with temp at about 55, clear otherwise, stepped on the gas pedal a bit and the car just very slowly sped up to about 5 mph and would go no faster. Stopped with car running and pressed it down a bit again and same thing ... 10 sec just to rev to about 1500rpm. So, I stopped the car, put it in park and turned it off. I waited about 30 sec, started it up and all was fine. One thing I can tell you is that it was NOT the floor mat, I checked that right away.

Have not called local Infiniti yet, but am interested in any feedback/opinions from this group. I really like the G and have not had any real problems (did get the CD changer replaced due to mistracking/skipping)with it so far. But this is a bit troubling. Let me know what you think.

    Happy Driving

I've noticed the instrument panel reflection in the windshield at night and have done some crude testing by placing my finger along the top edge of the dash which seems to completely block the reflection in the windshield. Has anyone experimented with adding about 1" of some material to the front of the dash to block the reflection? Any suggestions on what material or aftermarket gizmo that may be used to accomplish this effect without trashing the asthetics?

    Generic info:

G35 w/leather, sunroof, winter package, no other extras

I've had my G for a little under a month, it has 1900 miles on it and I'm averaging 18mpg city(80%)/hwy(20%) using premium fuel. I am, in general, a bit of a lead foot but for the most part I accelerate strongly to about 10-15 miles over the posted speed limit and let the tranny catch up when I hold the desired speed.

Besides the dash reflection, I have had to clean my windshield and wiper blades a couple times but the blades are still giving me minor trouble, they're definitely cheapies.

I haven't yet noticed the A/C problem or the seat belt problem.

I have the standard stereo system and no problems with skipping, etc. as related to the Bose system.

Yes, getting used to the adaptive transmission is still an ongoing process.

So far, the overall performance is fantastic for the price (my driveout was $900+ over MSRP including TT&L).
  • frozefroze Member Posts: 40
I've found that the problem mostly goes away if you turn the dash light intensity down.
  • rpawlak98rpawlak98 Member Posts: 28
I read about the fuel line problem with the G35 about a month ago but I still have not received a TSB letter from my dealership. Does anyone else know what the story is with this?
  • cheerioboy26cheerioboy26 Member Posts: 412
You should have received a letter from Infiniti in California directly. I probably got mine three weeks ago and got my car checked yesterday. I'd call your dealer to schedule an appointment.
  • stsurbrookstsurbrook Member Posts: 285
I think that there were only a limited number of the G35's that were affected by the recall. Since yours is only one month old, it probably isn't affected.

    Scott
  • doubloondoubloon Member Posts: 13
    Correct Froze...

I had the intensity maximized (beyond the click)on the dash lights. Adjusting the intensity to the maximum level before rolling over the click brings the reflection down to an acceptable level.

I also neglected to mention in my earlier post that I have occasionally noticed some driver seat rocking. When I bring my car in for it's first oil change I plan to have the service center check it out.

This brings the total number of complaints I have about my G down to 2, both of which I expect to be addressed on my first service visit.

I think it speaks volumes that it has been more than 2 weeks since anyone has been unhappy about their G!!! I certainly am enjoying mine!! Although I'm not looking forward to driving in the snow that we in Indiana have to look forward to.
  • maxima4maxima4 Member Posts: 74
If and when you do take your G out for a drive in the snow, can you report on how it handled? Also, can you tell us what type of tires you are riding on and if you have the winter sports package? Much appreciated. Glad you're having fun with your G. Truely an awesome machine!
  • gabmangabman Member Posts: 284
Had the pleasure of driving thru a few storms, first last March, a week after taking delivery and more recently an 8" dump a few weeks ago. Last March I had on the original 17" Turanzas, and this year I put on Toyo Observe G02's ( winters)in size 215 x 60 x 16. The Toyo's are fine , just a bit noisy , but I have yet to find a silent winter tire.

The car handles surprisingly well for a rear wheel drive. Expect the slip light to come on alot if you are heavy on the peddle. Despite this I left many a cars behind at every traffic light.

Last year when I was driving on all seasons I found the car handled much better in manual mode than in automatic, in snowy conditions.

My opinion is to spring for a set of winter tires.
Toyo does make a 17" winter but they are expensive. Just make sure that whatever tire you get, that they are designed for rear wheel drive cars and not front wheel drive cars.
  • maxima4maxima4 Member Posts: 74
Gabman....Thanks for the valuable information you provided. I am going to bookmark #294 for future reference. I have had Toyo tires before and they have performed well and have provided long tire life. Here's my plan....My lease is up on my '00 Altima on 1/28/03. I'm going to put my order in for the G35 sedan 6MT around the beginning of January.

I hope to accomplish two things, one...hopefully taking delivery late winter early spring to avoid most of the snow and ice. Two, with taking later delivery it will allow me to put down at least 13k to 15k. I want to keep my monthly payments as low as possible. (Nissan leasing said I can carry my lease month to month once it expires until I take delivery of the new car.)

Down here on the coast of Southwestern Connecticut our winters are a mixed bag. Most years I have been lucky to get away with all season tires and FWD. I'll deal with a set of snows once they become more plentiful for the G35 next season. Right now the selection is pretty sparse.

Have fun driving your G35. I wish you and your family the best of the upcoming holidays :-)

Has anyone experienced the lack of a laminate over this interior trim resulting in getting scratched very very easily? We're very careful and still have had to replace the driver door handle panel and cup holder door. We too had CD changer replaced for issues previously spoke of. I've complained to Infiniti Corp. but figure that there are far fewer "sport" out there and not enough complaints will be made to get a change made. I really like the way this trim looks however the quality is below average. The aftermarket kits I've seen look cheap and most don't come with pieces to cover all the factory panels. My dealer said he would replace it with a full wood kit for $290....didn't think so. I love the way the car drives, handles & looks.... It however is not quite up to the quality standard the 01 QX4 we traded. Even though it's an Infiniti I feel as if I should have waited for the 04 edition.....
  • maxima4maxima4 Member Posts: 74
That's the only place Infiniti didn't give enough thought to was the interior trim pieces. A lot of people have been complaining about what you are speaking of. Even some of the industry trade mags have commented on how cheap some of the interior pieces looked in an otherwise outstanding car. Infiniti are you listening?? :-)

I was able to slip and slide through my first winter on the 17" A/S but by the second winter it was scary to drive the car in anything more than 2". I swapped to the dedicated snows and now wouldn't even think about driving in winter weather with A/S tires.

The 17" tire size on the G35 (and Maxima and Altima) is not a widely available size and they have been out since the 00 Maxima came out in mid 1999 so I don't think your going to see more available anytime soon.

You'll save a lot of money in the long run by purchasing a set of 16" steel wheel with "decent" looking hubcaps (that's an oxymoron!) and swapping out your beautiful 17" wheels and tires for the snows for December-February/March.

I found that the best All Season tires are no match for the cheapest dedicated snow tires and you get the added benefit of reducing the miles you drive on those 17" (which are way more expensive to replace) than the snows. (Just my 2 cents.)
  • maxima4maxima4 Member Posts: 74
I have a friend that swaps out his good spring/summer/fall rims for winter rims for his Honda. The winter rims look pretty good!

The stocks rims are expensive and doing what you said is a great idea. I can do it myself since I have all the equipment. Looks like tirerack.com might my next best friend :-)

    Great advice. Thanks again :-)

I've owned my G35 since April of this year and recently I went out of town for 4 days and returned to find rust on all of the brakes. I called Infiniti and they said this can happen when the car sits, but typically brake dust would eliminate the rust when the car is driven. Either way I'm a little disappointed that I'm seeing Rust after only a few months with the car. Has anyone else noticed this?
  • nycanyca Member Posts: 232
that is totally normal if the car is left outside in a climate with even a slight amount of humidity. A few applications of the brakes after they come up to temperature on the first drive should get that "rust" off right away.
  • peeetepeeete Member Posts: 136
Here is one I have not seen commented on. A couple of days ago I started my G and it ran VERY rough. Acceleration was terrible and the motor felt and sounded like a two-cycle Johnson outboard with fouled plugs (I have a lot of experience with that!). Naturally the service engine light came on.

I called the dealer..they thought it might be bad gas (Ihad filled the tank the day before but it ran fine after filling, and again that morning).

The dealer tested it and said the ignition coils were bad. They have ordered a set. My concern is that they said the car is OK to drive until they come in. Obviously the timing is way off, and Im afraid of damaging the engine. Naturally they had no loaners, and they are closed over the holiday weekend.

Shoudl I be concerned? Could I fry the entire electrical system? Thanks
  • cpranger22cpranger22 Member Posts: 21
I've got 7500 miles on my G35 and just can't get use to the sensitivity of the gas and especially the break pedals. It's almost to the point where I feel it's dangerous especially after driving a different car for a couple of days. I have driven many cars, luxury, sport, SUV, and nothing even comes close to the sensitivity of these breaks. Thanks for your replies
