I am about to buy a 2009 G37 Coupe from Sewell today or tommorrow... does that price include the $2500 incentive that is currently being offered, or did they just discount your car by $5K?

Can you tell me who you were dealing with there?

And who did you have to sleep with to get all the freebies?
• cdharmacdharma Member Posts: 2
From what I understand you should be offered two options at the moment:

Great interest from infiniti (e.g. 0.0% for 36 months)

OR

$2500 incentive

That incentive should be taken off the final price you negotiate with the car dealer since its paid directly to them.

For example the pricing I am working with my dealer (swell) does not include the $2500 discount, since I will decide when I go to financing if I want the 0.0% or the $2500.

Hope this helps

hey dat, all i know is what was written in the article. they said the G coupe and sedan would get the new engine mid-cycle before the next gen G comes out in 3 years. since this current gen G is about 2 years and there are 3 more years to go, i would say it comes out sometime next year, probably after the M debut.

I was quoted $31720 + ttl for a Journey sedan with the premium package and the performance wheel & tire package. They are also giving me a fair amount on my trade in. It seems like a great deal to me, but would like some opinions.
I am in the So Cal area. thanks!
• vjkatyvjkaty Member Posts: 19
That is a good deal for So Cal area. I have started to get quotes on about the same car and equipement. Where have you been quoted 31720 ?

Thanks :D

Looking to buy a G37 journey sedan w/premium, nav, and window tinting, but I can't seem to get the price that I'm looking for in the Phoenix metro area

Details are:

MSRP is $39,355 (including glass sentinel and cargo net) + 299 window tint
Invoice $36,196 + price of tinting
Selling for 34,443 which equals 38,250 OTD (including 688 plate fee, 369 doc fee, and 2,750 taxes)

I'm looking to get invoice minus the $2,500 marketing cash, which should have the car selling for about $33,700 or so. It is a cash deal with no trade-in, but I can't seem to get the dealers to go any lower than 38,250 OTD. It looks like there's another $700 in room for dealers to move (and other people are getting that price in the Phoenix metro area or better) and then there's a $369 doc fee on top of it.

Am i missing something or am I getting shafted? I'm already dealing with 4 dealers and trying anything I can to get them to lower prices, but they don't seem to want to budge. Even offered to buy on the last day of the month, and the dealer still wouldn't move off of his price. The dealers all have the car in stock, and I don't know what else is keeping the prices higher than what everyone else is getting.

Please help.

Just purchased a new 2009 G37x coupe with premium package. Paid $2500 under dealer invoice and also got 3.9% financing for 4 years from B of A through the dealer!
In/out of the dealership in 2.5 hours!

The price is great; however, the price of the vehicle you are buying is only part of a "deal". Remember, the value of the trade is just as important as is the financing package, not to mention any "extras" you may have bought in the business office. Tint is always great in Texas (it doesn't cost $399), Zaltek is nothing - Infiniti comes with clear coat paint from the factory, and On-Guard is nothing - it cost the dealer about $30. As long as you felt good about it - you should be happy.
• sewellgsmsewellgsm Member Posts: 775
Dharma is right. You work your best deal, probably around $1800 off the MSRP - then you decide if you want the $2500 or special rate - of course that will depend on what rate you can get with your credit - if it is high take the special rate, if you have great credit - take the $2500. The business manager should go over these two options with you. If they won't give you the full $2500 (total of around $4300 off MSRP) you may want to check another dealer. Of course, that is assuming there is another one in your area.

Dharma - thought you were getting the FX?

Needg - I'm in Texas, but the dealers have to make some profit. It makes no sense for them to buy a vehicle from Japan, get it ready to sell, advertise it, pay a staff of sales and support and sell it for nothing. Holdback for Infiniti is only 1.5% - that is roughly $600 - they can't survive on that. Look at all the domestic dealers going under. If all 4 are about the same, pick the one closest to you or the one you like best and go buy it. Your not getting shafted. They are selling for about that down here - you will love the car.
• needgneedg Member Posts: 13
sewellgsm, I understand that dealers need to make a profit and all that, but I know of no other industry where the actual price has so many variables that make it virtually impossible to figure out what is a good price. Therefore, I have to use prices other people are getting to establish what the best price is. I don't need any kind of personal attention from a car dealer, and know more about the features than they do (I mean that literally as I had to explain some of the features on my test drive to the salesman). The only variable I care about is price, and if a dealer is willing to let a car go for invoice less $2,500 for some and not others then that is the dealers fault for allowing it to take place. If the best price was invoice or $2000 above invoice, then I'd be happy to pay it, but I cannot pay $1000 more than other people just because the car dealer might not make a good profit. The car industry is in need of a realignment, but I have no sympathy for them given all of the games they have played in the past (and most continue to play).
• sewellgsmsewellgsm Member Posts: 775
In your last post you said that all 4 dealers in your city were at about the same price, so that must be where they are able to sell them to other customers. I think you said $700 over invoice - $2500 = which puts you $1800 back of invoice. That is a great deal. I know a bunch of people who bought their G's a few months ago and they were no where close to that. This $2500 has really helped the G's move, I know it sounds like BS, but supply on the G will get short in the next couple of months as Infiniti starts getting ready for the 2010 - I don't think the deals will get any better. And as supply gets low, the dealers will start to inch up their prices - I've seen it on the FX and QX right now. My advice is to go get it - you've already done your shopping - time to buy. I assure you are not paying more than anyone else.

Bought a 2009 G37 Sedan with PREM/NAV and a few accessories for less than $33,800, or about $2300 below invoice, which works out to be less than 1.5% dealer profit :D:blush:

The best other deals I got were around 2-2.5% dealer profit.
• wongster1wongster1 Member Posts: 6
Out the door for $33,800. Is this G37 Journey?
• sewellgsmsewellgsm Member Posts: 775
That would be before TTL (so not out the door) and yes and G37 sedan with a premium pkg and navigation pkg would be on a Journey. Almost all G37 sedans are Journeys - there are very few "base" - most of those are bought by loan car companies.

Just remember the sale price is just part of a "deal". This price is fantastic, but there is always the trade-in and the financing to consider - and watch out for any "dealer fees". I've seen a lot of post where folks bought a vehicle for a few hundred over the final cost of the dealer, then paid $495 in "prep fee" - so they really paid $700 over the dealers final cost.
• profusprofus Member Posts: 3
Well said.

Yes that was before TTL. There were no other charges: No prep charges, no doc fees, etc. No trade in, cash deal. They tried really hard to sell me extended warranty ("no thanks") and the newest one with "maintenance packages". I told them to discount it by 67% and I might think about it, but they did not want to do that. So the net-net for them is less than 1.5%. And thanks for saying it was fantastic price.

Lesson here: I came well prepared with all the lists for invoices, rebates, holdbacks, etc. from Consumer Reports, and told them to give me their best price, and of course I had a couple of other offers. Everything via email then visit to dealer and closed in less than 1.5 hours. Very professional dealer.
• jjg37jjg37 Member Posts: 12
Just want to share with all you here that I have successfully cancelled my G37 maintenance plan (which I bought at $1600 when I purchased my car). I got my full money back without any hassle from the dealership. The only question they asked is "are you sure you want to cancel it?". Of course, you have to cancel within certain time period otherwise they will start to charge you a fee.

Hope this helps if you also happen to have purchased such a plan along with your g37.

I hear what you are saying, and I agree with most of your data. My problem with accepting the rates that I was getting is that other people on this board with the same dealers have been broadcasting lower deals to the tune of $700-$1,000. It has all been recent activity, so I was trying to figure out what the difference was attributable to. Infiniti of Peoria was actually able to step in and give me a number closer to what I was expecting, so I will be giving them my business. I agree that it is a great car; thanks for your thoughtful analysis. I will post the final numbers once they have been agreed upon, but it looks to be about $300 over invoice (plus 2 years free maintenance), minus $2,500 dealer marketing cash.
• asterix4asterix4 Member Posts: 16
Profus - Looks like that you scored a good deal!
Can you provide the list of all your options & accessories.
• profusprofus Member Posts: 3
As I wrote before here is what I negotiated for <$33,800: G37 Journey Sedan with Prem, Nav, also Trunk Net, splash guards.

Listed invoice price for the same configuration is $36,240
Manufacturer to Dealer rebate is $2500 (subtract from invoice) = $33,740
That is the public dealer cost (except for volume discount, holdback, showroom fees, etc.)
Sales price before TTL was <$33,800 (incl. $200 profit –– haha if you can figure it out, congrats ;) TTL are state allowed cost, registration, sales taxes (sigh....), etc.

We just finished our month last night at Sewell Infiniti. We sold 48 G37 sedans (mostly RWD) and averaged $1081 over invoice - $2500 dealer cash = $1419 below invoice. Keep in mind this was the average, some folks were less and some more. Some bought chrome wheels, tint, and other accessories and money we made on those accessories is in these figure too.

The one common theme I've seen on this site is all of people get great deals because you do your due diligence, you shop around, you don't rush into anything. You guys are the minority, many customers come in - pick out what they want - negoiate for a few minutes - buy the car and move on happy as can be. I post these numbers to let you guys know you stand in your deals. Always remember, the price of the new car is part of the deal - don't forget the trade and financing. Feel free to ask any questions and enjoy your G's!! :)

I test drove a G37 sedan with Premium and Sports Package at a California dealer yesterday. I like the car a lot.
I would like to know the lowest price you have seen to start a negotiation.

Thanks for all your information on this forum. :shades:
• sewellgsmsewellgsm Member Posts: 775
In Texas, if we are negotiating over the phone or the internet and trying to get someone to come to our dealership we will offer around $4500 off the MSRP - that is about the going price in Dallas. The least expensive G37 sedan with Premium and Sport Pkg I have has a window sticker of $39,165 - if you were here I'd offer it to you for $34,601 + TTL. Out if California, you may get a couple hundred more off - don't forget your trade and financing are just as important - have fun - the car is worth it!

PS The price will be $2500 higher if you take the special financing (0% for 36 months, etc) or if you lease. :)

I am interested in leasing a G37 sedan with premium and nav. What can I expect, based on the experience of the members on this board? Thanks!
• sewellgsmsewellgsm Member Posts: 775
This is tricky because there are so many variables. Big one is the state you live in and how they asses taxes, another is how many miles a year you need along with how long do you plan to lease it for, then do you have a trade along with do you own an Infiniti (currently have a loyalty rebate for those who own an Infiniti) and finally your credit - Infiniti have 5 Tiers of credit.

But here is a ballpark for you - for a Texas resident - I picked out a 09 G37 sedan, Premium Pkg and Navigation with some other minor options - the MSRP is $39,425 - assuming no trade, no loyalty rebate, good credit (Tier 1), driving 15k per year - a 39 month lease should work out for around $554/month with $800 due at signing (covers 1st payment and title and license). This is just an idea for you - remember all the considerations listed above. :)

'09 G37 - Coupe : Prem, nav, sport, cargo mats etc, dest, MSRP $45080

is $40,000 out the door with trade and TTL included good including all the incentives etc. at this time?

what is the most one should pay for this. this is the last one with options and color i want in the area. I don't expect too many 09 G37 to ship with the new '10 models coming out.

thanks for the help. This forum has been super helpful. I felt much more prepared to go into the dealer than ever before. :)

Closed a deal with Peoria Infiniti in Arizona the other day. It was a great shopping experience with no surprises. The details are as follows:

G37 sedan black ext/ graphite interior, premium and nav package, glass breakage sentinel, splash guards, illuminated kick plates, and cargo net, built in June 2009 and 11 miles on the odometer

MSRP 39,905
Invoice 36,606

Negotiated out the door cash price of $37,900, so the dealer backed in the rest of the numbers. The breakdown of price is as follows:

Car Price 36,556
Taxes 2,758
TTL 636
Doc Fee 449
Rebate -2,500

The car also had door guards, tint, and wheel locks as extras. It was a great price lower than all of the other Phoenix metro dealers by a few hundred. Got the deal on the last day of the month, which was a needed to get that price. I had the same salesperson as someone from an earlier post; her name begins with an M and she was very straight forward and upfront about pricing, etc. She was also able to comply with my various requests as I was requesting various things in writing before I would go to the dealership.

Does anyone have any idea what a good price on the 7 year/100,000 mile extended warranty and 5 year maintenance plan is? That thread is pretty much dead. Sewellgsm, it looks like you work for a dealership, any idea on what a fair price is for these items? I'm interested in both because we usually take our cars to the dealers for the first 5 years and with all of the tech on these cars would be nightmare to replace in the Arizona heat.

If you don't mind waiting a few months it's probably worth waiting for the 2010 (if) it comes with direct injection which will yield some more ponies and better MPG. Good luck!

Bought an 09 6mt coupe, msrp at about 45k. Got it for about 44k otd, $40,101 before fees, almost 1k below invoice. Used their promotional financing at 2.9% for 60 months. This was at Beshoff in San Jose. I guess you can take advantage of the 2,500 rebate if paid in cash full i suppose..

I understand there is a $2500 incentive right now but I was curious if that would negate the good APR offers Infiniti Financing is offering?
• sam_ksam_k Member Posts: 243
Yes, you cannot combine the $2500 with the special financing rates from IFS.

Goto the following link to the incentives and scroll down to restrictions under financing.

Before you buy a maintenance plan take a look at the required maintenance. Its oil changes and inspections. I pay my dealer $45 for an oil change and he does all of the required inspections at the same time.

• mannix77mannix77 Member Posts: 76
I think you would be best served by going to a Credit Union, get preapproved with a known rate and then see what they offer you. This puts in you in a copetitive position and preserve your credit rating should IFS not offer you what you want.
• dalntgeniusdalntgenius Member Posts: 11
I noticed that in order to get the $2500 dealer cash it requires you to go through IFS. I definitely don't want to negotiate a super price and then get hosed in the finance department.
• kingpcgeekkingpcgeek Member Posts: 1,051
I have never seen that requirement enforced. There are people on this forum that have paid cash and gotten the $2500 discount.

You can get the $2500 without going through IFS - you get if even if you pay cash for the vehicle. IFS has 5 tiers they measure people on so the rate will depend on your credit along with how long you want to finance. Right now a person with fantastic credit - qualifies for Tier 0 (best) the rate is 5.49% up to 63 months. (5.99 for 66 months and 6.64% for up to 72 months) :)

It doesn't seem like Infiniti will negotiate at all on the g37 convertible. Is that your experience?
• dalntgeniusdalntgenius Member Posts: 11
Do you know what the Tier 1 APR would be for 63 months? I'm hovering somewhere near the 700 score which is probably not good enough for Tier 0.

A large newspaper reporter is looking to speak to consumers who went from owning a luxury car (BMW, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz, etc.) to a premium non-luxury vehicle recently. If you purchased the vehicle using the Cash for Clunkers program, please let me know as well. Please send your daytime phone number and the vehicle you own to ctalati@edmunds.com by Wednesday, August 5.

Please let me know if 32K + Taxes, title and registration is a reasonable price for a PRE-OWNED 2008 G35X with Premium, Tech and Navigation packages. The car has 24,000 miles on it. TTL would be about 2K, so out of the door price would be 34K. I would be buying it from the dealer.

If you are on the East coast I would recommend contacting Tysons Corner and MD dealerships for deep discounts and huge AWD inventories. However, if you are not getting at least $5,000 off MSRP contact Ron at Metro Infiniti (it is in CA but they will ship).
• sewellgsmsewellgsm Member Posts: 775
I think you should expect about $2200 off the MSRP, then you can choose the special financing or an additional $2500. Good luck. :)
• members78members78 Member Posts: 140
no, i dont think that is a good price. im not particularly knowledgeable of the sedan g37x, but i know it's several thousands less than the coupe, and in light of the $2500 incentive, one can purchase a g37x with the same packages for around $37k.

that's substantially more than $32k, however, it's the latest sedan equipped with the latest tech and with a more powerful engine that's also more fuel efficient. im not sure what the depreciation is on a 2008 g35x, but in the long run i think you will recoup more from the current sedan than the pre-own.
