Any information about the winter event at infiniti??
Dealer1 said the 3000 discount on MSRP and no financing deals
Dealer2 said 1500 casback and 2.9 Apr for 60 months and is willing to negotiate on the price.
any advise is appreciated
That is a nice deal. For whatever reason we cannot seem to get 2005 G35xs in NJ with Splash Guards. Had 3 different dealers tell me they were coming from Japan without them. I will be going back to get them aftermarket. I am curious how the Sirius radio thing works. Nice to have but my commute is too short to make it worth while.
Good luck with the auto and enjoy.
That sounds like a good deal. Can you PM with the sales person you dealt with? I'm thinking of going over there at the MV dealership and see what kind of deal they're willing to work with!
Enjoy your new ride!
This board was a great help to me so I figured I'd give back by providing the results of my shopping experience. The details are a bit verbose but they help capture the overall feel of the experience...
All prices listed are "out the door" prices and include all doc prep fees etc. I'm from NH so there's no sales tax.
All quotes were for Lakeshore exterior with Wheat interior, and were for specific vehicles in dealer inventory (at least I thought, see below).
$34,416 Infiniti Nashua (MSRP $36,660, premium, trunk mat)
$33,769 Herb Chambers (MSRP $36,660, premium, trunk)
$33,979 Herb Chambers (MSRP $36,830, premium, wood)
$33,850 Kelly Infiniti (MSRP $36,660, premium, trunk)
$34,000 Kelly Infiniti (MSRP $36,910, premium, wood, trunk)
$35,800 Kelly Infiniti (MSRP $38,910, premium, nav, wood, trunk)
$34,000 Infiniti of Norwood (MSRP $36,910 premium, wood, trunk - not positive about this one)
Below is a recount of the purchase experience just for fun...
At first, my best price was way above invoice and I was discouraged and planned to wait until end of March (fiscal year end) because I read good deals could be had then. Then, I got a quote from Chambers that was nearly $3k off MSRP and I got interested again. Next I had to make final color and option choices and locate the exact car I wanted. I decided on Lakeshore/Wheat with premium. I was flexible on the wood.
I gave the first crack to Nashua because they were a tad closer and could get me a temp plate. They wouldn't deal much so I walked.
Next, I worked with Kelly. They matched my best price. I liked the sales guy there and they had the car I wanted, so I signed a contract for Lakeshore/Wheat, premium, no wood. A while later, the salesguy calls to say there was a “situation”. My car has 300 miles on it. He tries to locate another (new) car and seems confident, but there's time pressure since the other deals were only good until Jan 3.
Meanwhile, Norwood gets back to me and although I didn't work on a specific vehicle with them, it seemed like they would match my best price.
Next, I get cold feet about the colors and options and about the Kelly deal in general. I'm afraid if I don't get the car by Jan 3rd, I may be out of luck. So my wife and I drove to Kelly and looked at the inventory ourselves. She reassured me on my color choices and we both thought that the wood was a nice addition. Unfortunately, Kelly only had wood on a car with nav ($2k list). I wanted the Nav originally, but I thought it was too expensive. This was a drag because no nav means no trip computer on the G35x.
In any case, my wife convinced me to splurge on the Nav (like the car wasn't enough!!!) so we could close the deal with Kelly then and there. I figured I should have no trouble getting the Nav at invoice (1800) since the deal had been such a hassle with the demo car and all. I was wrong. The sales manager became indignant that I was pushing so hard on the deal and demanded list for nav.
Since the Nav was a nice to have, I was ready to walk and I did. I was pretty shocked that they made it so hard at that point, especially because part of the reason I was going with the Nav was to close the deal with them today without needing them to do a locate (after they tried to sell me a demo).
I got kind of pissed at the sales manager and at that point was moving on to the next dealer. I was determined to close a deal today. Before I got my car started, the salesguy came out and agreed to our final price of $35,800 for Premium, nav, wood, and trunk. Whew!!! That last $200 was a ton of work, but there was no way I was going to pay above invoice after the headache I had from them.
The rest of the purchase was very straightforward and professional. I pick up the car tomorrow. Overall, I’m very happy with my choices on the car and with Kelly. I’m not sure how hard these numbers will be to replicate, especially once the end of year sales are over.
Hope someone finds this help
the only thing was the right rear back seat was not reclining properly. we never used that in our negotiation so I can't say if that was a big deal or not, but we had the folks write down that it was to be fixed for free and it was (it is under warranty anyway, I think).
good luck!
Even though east & west coast buyers on this forum seem to dominate the buying experiences I'm hopeful that someone can advise me before I start the buying process here in Houston. Of the 3 Houston dealers North Houston Infiniti is only 20 miles from my home and, of course, I hope I can deal with them.
Edmunds prices: '05 G35 RWD, AT, sedan with Prem C pkg, Nav, Wood, and trunk mat at MSRP $37,110 INV $33,928 TMV $36,871
1)Is Edmunds advising that I should expect to pay $2943 over invoice (MSRP-$239)while I see most of you paying $500-$1000 over invoice?
With relatives in Big D and in the Columbus, OH area if forced it may not be unreasonable to buy there.
2)Can anyone offer any pricing advice in those areas?
3)If I buy elsewhere should I still expect to be treated well by a local dealer when I go in for scheduled services?
4)Would someone please critique the Infiniti Nav system? Never used a car nav but thought it would be handy as we plan to do some traveling both in & out of Texas.
I'm very appreciative to all for the info you have shared with your previous posts and will be grateful to any who may find the time to help with my questions. I want to join your "Club" but at a reasonable price. Thank you Edmunds for providing this great service!
Check posts 1843 and 1847 and others to see what tactics I took on the purchase of my '04. I bought at an out of town dealership, but it was only four weeks ago and I haven't gone in for service from the local dealer yet.
I have been somewhat disappointed with the Nav. A major dislike is that the only source I know of for updating the map DVD costs $185 per update! So, you either pay up or be satisfied with less frequent updates. If you're in an area where there's a lot of roadbuilding going on, an older database could be a problem.
Last week, I was traveling along a road parallel to an Interstate spur. The system thought I was on the Interstate. Even after I passed under the Interstate and was a couple hundred feet away and traveling in a different direction, the system still thought I was on the Interstate and gave me some really screwy directions. This had nothing to do with new road construction, as both roads had been there many years.
Certain major cities have more complete maps than other parts. I have already had several instances of where the system sent me on an obviously inferior route. This comes from experience in my local area as well as occurrences from a recent trip. I've had a couple of other instances where the system seemed confused.
However, I believe it will always get you there, and having a function that will point out the nearest gas stations, hotels, restaurants, etc., is certainly nice. Also, it surprises me very much that a car in this class has no trip computer unless you buy the NAV. I really like the trip computer function. It is a great source of entertainment on long trips and helps keep me alert.
For Nav only, you might consider getting a pocket PC with a GPS and some mapping software. It accomplishes the navigation function at less than half the price. A friend bought one to put in his plane, and got an aviation program that showed the location of all airports and various types of airspace, etc. It worked quite well. I know that street level software with voice guidance is available, but don't know how well it works compared to the Infiniti navigation system.
If I had it to do again, I'd probably still get the Infiniti nav, partly for the convenience and partly for the trip computer functions. However, if I didn't care about the trip computer stuff, I'd go with the pocket PC system.

Anyway, the price was more than fair at just $500 over invoice. I told them what I wanted and the price I was looking for. They came in more than $500 better than anyother price I was quoted. Virtually no hassle. Considering it was an 05, with no manufacurer incentives going on, this was a good deal and relatively painless buying experience.
No to mention, any of their locations throughout IL and WI will give you free carwashes for as long as you own the car. If you live with a lot of snow and salt on the roads, you know how expensive regular car washes can be!
My recommendation is that you find a dealership near you and test-drive the G35. Find out what they're offering for a best price. Don't bother haggling. Then go to a site like Edmunds and request online quotes. My last two car buying experiences have been through online bids...YOU WILL BE AMAZED AT THE REDUCTION IN COST with an online quote. Typically speaking, online quotes are "no-haggle best price the first time". Fields Infiniti came back to me with a quotes on various trims in less than a few hours. There was no shopping around for the options I wanted or didn't want.
Good luck buying your G35. It is great!
You're quite welcome. This forum saved me a few bucks because others shared their info previously. On the nav, I neglected the standalone dedicated GPS units, as sueny mentioned. I have a friend who has one of the Garmin units and it has served him quite well. I mentioned the pocket PC route, as those come more cheaply than the dedicated GPS units and they also have other capabilities. But you've decided to get the nav, and I think you'll probably have similar feelings about it. It's not perfect, but pretty cool.
Good luck with your purchase!
Pay the driver $25 per hour (just a guess), and add insurance and other costs, and it gets pretty expensive when you do it a car at a time. Your cost is less than what I was quoted to get a car delivered to me, although the mileage for me was a bit further.
If it bothers you that much, just buy from the other dealer and go pick it up yourself. That's what I did, and it's not so bad. Fortunately, we live in a free country where you can make that choice.
Make sure you ask all the right questions of the dealer so there won't be any surprises after you've used that one-way plane ticket. It worked fine for me.
You can check any dealer's inventory from the Infiniti site, and the other dealer is likely to give you the same deal as the local dealer. When you're looking for an exact model and configuration, you sometimes have to pay a price.
Do you know if the 04's are mostly RWD or AWD? My guess would be many made the mistake of not thinking about the winder with a RWD vehicle. Obviously, that's just a guess.
My advice would be to go with the 05. Depending on how much your putting down, the financing cost between 1.9 or 2.9 and 5% is minimal. Te extra couple thousand for the 05 is WELL WORTH IT.
Improvements from 04 to 05:
Power Telescope Wheel w/ Memory Seat
Illuminated Wheel Controls
Improved Interior Quality
Intelligent Key (ONE OF MY FAVORITE FEATURES but requires premium package)
Increased HP to 280 (298 on MT)
If you ask me...these improvements are well worth the added cost of the 05.
If you have an 05, the Garmin mounts perfectly where the Nav would normally pop out from (although you will need to permantly afix the mount as the sand bag will not fit). If you have an 04 or older model, you might be tight on space. The other problem is that the dash space is the G35 is limited. I guess its a personal preference, but being able to take my GPS with me when I travel and/or rent a vehicle is great. Just can't do that with the Infiniti nav.
On the other hand, I really liked the size and look of the infinit Nav...just couldn't justify paying $2k for it.
Good Luck with the car
Thanks for the heads up. I already got the car in late December at Douglas. I went up to Infiniti of Denvill having an Internet quote in hand and asked a sales rep about it. He said the Internet guy was not there and unless I was willing to do a deal on the spot to come back. I also asked for a 2005 quote and they had given me a 2004. Sort of a classic bait and switch. I got on here and realized the quote was too good to be true.
I felt like they were jerking me around and I am closer to Summit anyway so I ended up buying at Douglas. I am glad you got a good deal though and you are happy.
Good Luck with your car.

However, that brings up a way Edmunds could improve the service, by changing the search format. Select the make and model first, and the display results could show the zips where an incentive is available. That way, prospective buyers would know immediately if going just into the next zip code would bear fruit or be totally senseless.
As a forum host, maybe you could present the idea to them.
If we changed it to display each ZIP code, the page could end up miles long, especially if the incentive is available nearly nationwide - we'd have a list of over 90,000 ZIP codes
Personally, I don't think that works well, but you're welcome to make the suggestion yourself using our "help" link at the top.

There are different factors that affect prices.
The prices posted here may be higher than what you can get it there in HOUSTON or vice versa.
The fact is, you need to get feel of your market.
Start low and work your way around.
You have to be firm and be prepared to leave if the price gets out of hand. (Set up a price that you feel is comfortable before you walk in.)
You don't necessarily need to purchase your car on your first visit. Let them know that you are in the market but you want to check out the car first. Take it for a test drive ask question abou the car's feature and price. (although you're more likely notto get a true price)
The thing is, if you do your research, the sales people will be a little more cautious.
IN REGARDS TO SERVICE.
It is very unlikely that they will drive you away because servicing your car is still business for the dealer. You are doing them a favor by bringing in your car for service. They might even treat you better so that you buy from them next time.
Should there be anyone that gives you problem, contact management and tell them about it.
Always remember, consumer are always treated with courtesy by PROFESSIONAL as long as the consumer are not RUDE!
Great car! thanks for all the info. Great help.
My 1996 Audi A4 felt like it had more head room, although the objective difference is small. A 2005 Mercedes E sedan feels like it has much more headroom and the seat adjusts much lower. There are more tall people in Europe, and there is not the same fashion for a raised seating position--see the new Ford 500 for example.
I am also a bit disappointed with the bolsters of the seat cushion. I am not at all overweight, but I feel the bolsters are rather confining. Also the length of the seat cushion is a bit small given the length of my thighs. Again, the Mercedes and Audi are better on this.
Any advice on pricing or when RWD will truly be available.
2005
G35X (AWD)
with sunroof, mats and trunk tray as option.
i know the inventories are still piled up from 2004. the 2005 RWD with prem pkg, you sould be able to get for 31500 easily. i know it looks below invoice, but thats a real possiblity. also checkout the infinti.com and go to build and price and then locate dealer and the inventory. infiniti web site is much more up to date than many other car websites regaring dealer inventories. i know the RWD is not in a great supply but they are available..
I made the deal last Friday & picked it up Sat. I really like the car but in retrospect I'm not proud of the deal that I got. Would now appreciate opinions from others on my deal:
2005 G35 RWD auto sedan/Prem Pkg C/Nav/Wood/trunk mat/free maint/paid $35,210 (MSRP $37,110 Inv $33,928) Hit me with your critique, please!
does anyone know if the fiscal year end of March 31 is actually a correct date and is it really worth waiting for it?
thanks.
However, I am nothing if not persistent :-)
19090 for Willow Grove PA, I just checked they have 5 G35 cars (I mean RWD) in stock. Search for 150 miles from this zip code, and I am sure you will get many more.
Just put in different zip codes to do your search, as someone has suggested. When doing my search, I picked out several places I thought I could get cheap plane tickets to, and weren't too far to drive back. It worked well for me.
Feeling a mite better about my deal now with 2 yrs maintenance valued at $600. Guess $628 over inv is not too bad for a country boy since 2 owners control the market here in Big H. I did request a quote from Grubbs w/o response & Crest/Dallas quoted inv+$1000 w/o maintenance.
Assuming you are referring to Infiniti's year end for best deal on a 2004 (?). If you like I'll call my salesman & get you an answer (?).
If you think your dealer will tell you this info, that would be great, but usually they play dumb when asked about fiscal year end
To everyone:
What's the cheapest price you can get "quote" on a new 05 coup? I think it's easier if we can just state "over or under invoice and by how much"
Thanks. Mike
