But wanted to get some pricing advice. I have a 02 Max GLE that I am going to trade for a G35 Sedan 6MT. I looked at carsdirect's pricing, and they show only a $500 above invoice price. Some details:

    05 Sedan 6MT

    premium pkg

    aero boy kit with spoiler

    nav

the pricing is as follows from carsdirect:

    Invoice:34,151 Target:34,651 MSRP:37,460

I went through the process to have a dealer contact me, and if they would go for the target price, which if its there I would assume thats the price I should get, does everyone think that 500 over invoice is a super deal? On a new model with all these revisions? Or has anyone had a problem actually using this site and the price is more of a wish list price that never actually happens?

I want to move quick on this since my Max is depreciating faster than I pay it off with the miles I drive...:(

I test drove an '05 Coupe yesterday with the Performance Tire and Wheel package and had nearly decided on the car until I drove it for a few miles on the freeway. I was very surprised by the excessive road and tire noise between 65 and 75 mph. The salesman agreed with my comment, and after talking to his sales mgr, suggested that the car had not been fully "dealer prepped" yet and that the reason for the excess road noise was "over-inflated tire pressure, please come back and test drive later, ..., etc.".

Seems a bit fishy to me but said I would take a 2nd look before I dismissed the car (or the wheels). I commute 30 min a day each way to work on the freeway at highway speeds (turnpike), so having a reasonably comfortable ride in a fun to drive car is what I'm looking for.

Anyone have any comments / experience with road noise and the Infiniti 18" wheels? I'd just settle for the standard 17" wheels but don't like their appearance as much.

I have read here and in other forums that it is not that uncommon to have a new car's tires overpressurized while they sit on the lot.

I am interested in buying a 05 sedan 6MT in the Mpls MN area. I too was intrigued by the carsdirect.com route and am thinking of bypassing carsdirect.com, going to the dealer, and saying give it to me for $300 over invoice cause i can get it at $500 over thru carsdirect.com Has anyone else tried this? Also, what area are you looking at? Our two dealers here are not good at stocking 6MTs or with satellite radio, my 2 requirements.

I am in the Southern NH/Boston area and am not shy inlooking in the NE area. I doubt I'll find the model I want locally as I looked through the infiniti website and found none. The dealer in Nashua has a black one with everything I want, but after having one black truck, never again. This time I want the silver. I went through the cars driect website and sent the quote request to the dealers listed, there were two. I am hoping I'll hear back tomorrow from them and that they stick to that price. That will be the best option. If not, I'll try the live chat or call cars direct directly and see what they say about their price. If it isnt something that is held to, why bother giving it online.

Will let you know. I dont mind paying $500 orver or $300 over, but got a feeling that I will have to order the car I want withthe options I want rather than locate it, as they seem in short supply everywhere.

I was visiting my folks in Nashua a year ago (I'm from Indiana). Stopped by the Infiniti dealer and inquired about a test drive. When he saw my driver's license, he started making excuses and wouldn't let me drive anything. It was Saturday morning and no one was in the store. I was pretty annoyed. I've never had a dealer refuse a test drive just because I was from out of town.

    I got 04 G35 Auto RWD with

    Premium Package

    Sports suspension

    MSRP $34,345

    Invoice $31450

    I got it for

    Invoice - $2000 - $1000 + tax + tags + title.

    31450 - 2000 - 1000 = 28,450.

I took 2.9% APR for 60 months financing.

    Is this a good deal?

I am negotiating with an Infiniti dealer for an '05 coupe and am interested in leasing the car for 39 months. Anyone know what the best lease rate (or money factor) that Infiniti offers for folks with an excellent credit history for a 39 month period? I didn't think the initial 6.67% lease rate (0.00279 money factor) they offered was all that competitive, thus this inquiry.

BTW - the Edmunds online article:

    http://www.edmunds.com/finance/leasing/articles/48365/article.htm- l

is an excellent source for those like me that need a refresher on leases and how they work and are calculated. It had been a few years since I've done a lease and within 15-minutes, had an Excel spreadsheet developed and I confirmed the lease from Infinity came up within $0.01 when compared to the spreadsheet derivation.

Thanks Edmunds for this excellent refresher article!

How did you make out with this? I chatted with carsdirect and was told the dealer may be free to set whatever price they wish and that the cars direct price is not rock solid...then why have it??? the edmunds tmv price is almost a couple thousand higher than the cars-direct price. ill go anywhere in the country to get a better deal...drive it home.

That's a great price you got here. I tried to get an '05 coup and one dealer (West Chester, PA)wanted to sell at MSRP. After I mentioned about Invoice and stated that "we're about 3k diff." The manager said to me "Have a nice day". This dealer even wanted to sell an '04 for close to MSRP as well and never called me back. 2 other dealers want to get around 1200 to 2k over invoice for an '05 coup.
  • vgrinshpunvgrinshpun Member Posts: 36
Congratulations, I think it is excellent price. I got a similar discount on the base 2004 G35 (cloth), except for the dealer incentive, which was $1000 last month, vs. $2000 now. Selling price was 24,996 +2.9% financing. See post 2043 for details.

I just left a deposit on a '05 coupe, AT, premium package. I don't know the money factor or what the cap cost is, but I got the following lease deal over the phone:

    39 month

    15k miles per year

    $1200 total due

$431 per month [including NJ tax]

I think this is a decent deal. Are there any better deals our there?
  • billykrebsbillykrebs Member Posts: 33
That sounds like a really good deal. I have tried to get some lease quotes on the G35 sedan and without the premium package. I didn't get that close. I was in the $450 range for a lesser priced car.

I am still looking at getting one but just can't find a deal I want.

Looking for pricing guidance for last 04 g35x on dealer lot - twilight blue, premium, nav system, wood and trunk mat. Their opening offer was $35,600.

From previous posts it sounds like I should offer and they could be willing to take invoice - 2,000 = abt $32,300. Could that be right!?!? I may even be able to subtract holdback (abt $900 more) bringing price down to $31,300.

Alternative is waiting a few mths and getting an 05 minus the nav package in a color I really want.

    Appreciate your feedback.
  • medochmedoch Member Posts: 1
Wow! I bought the base (cloth) model on January 31. Carsdirect had it for around 27,280 or so. I offered the dealer $27,200 and he took it very quickly. I also researched kbb.com, which indicated a range with a median value ~$27,090.

Edmunds did not have 2004 model pricing.

Of course, a few days later carsdirect price dropped by $1000.

Where did you learn about the other incentives?

    That is incredible! Congratulations!
  • vikramgvikramg Member Posts: 13
You should get it for at least invoice-$3000. If the dealer is not willing to sell the car for the price, try other dealers. Most dealers will want to clear their lots of 04s by the end of feb.
  • vgrinshpunvgrinshpun Member Posts: 36
Learned about factory to dealer incentives on this site, this thread. Then verified information on consumerguide.com.

Learned about infiniti holdback formula using google search.

Interestingly, I also bought my car on January 31. The factory to dealer incentive actually went up on February 1, from $1000 to $2000. So my car potentially could be bought now for $23,996. That combined with 1.9% / 2.9% financing is an excellent opportunity !

...You may wish to check out Passport Infiniti. Apparently they have a lot of '04 G35 sedans leftover. They even have one new '04 marked down to 23,888$. It has no options whatsoever. But even as a basic car that's not a bad price. Most of the rest of their remaining '04 inventory is heavily discounted and they are advertising a sale for the rest of the week that leftover '04 models are being sold for 1250$ below invoice. So if you're shopping and in the area you may want to check it out. They have a website. www.passportinfiniti.com

I personally would call first if there is a specific model you are interested in to make sure it's available. Most of these dealerships strike me as slow to update their website info.
  • billykrebsbillykrebs Member Posts: 33
Well, I think I am finally going to do it. I have a deal on a 05 6mt with the base package. I have the VPP pricing. I want to lease. Here is the deal. I think it looks pretty good. No options on this car.

    $31,210 MSRP

    $28,987 cap cost(purchase price)

    +$909 fees

    =$29,958 Net Cap Cost

    $401/month - 15k year lease for 39 months

    $401 dollars down.

What do you think about this deal?

Also, has anybody seen the Lakeshore Slate and Stone interior? If so, what do you think?
  • sysadmin1sysadmin1 Member Posts: 122
I am this close to buying a G35 Sedan, and part of the deal that seems non-negotiable is the fact the dealer has added this "simonize treatment" to the exterior and interior. This seems like garbage to me but since this is the ONLY car in the northeast of it's kind, and I want it, I am kind of stuck on this charge. They have it listed for $495.

Has anyone else ever seen this and is it hogwash or worth it?
  • 4zoom4zoom Member Posts: 3
We paid $800 over invoice plus the $590 destination charge and a $145 freight charge on a 6mt coupe. Based on your MSRP I guess your looking at a sedan. We saw the Lakeshore in the sedan with the stone interior. The Lakeshore was a grayish blue not quite but close to the Atlantic blue on the BMW Z. I liked it but my husband prefered the diamond graphite and since we couldn't see the lakeshore in the coupe, we went with the graphite. The stone is just a shade too light for our taste so we went with the graphite interior. The dealer did say he had put 2 lakeshore 5at coupes in the showroom and they sold quickly.
  • gongjoo04gongjoo04 Member Posts: 11
If you are in SoCal, you can pick one up for $200-$300 over invoice through "edmunds price quotes". I got a sedan with premium pkg, sports suspension pkg, splash guards, and trunk net for $200 over invoice. This car rocks! It's a true sports car with 4 doors.
  • billykrebsbillykrebs Member Posts: 33
Well it is done. I bit the bullet. Leased an 05 G35 6MT in Lakeshore Blue/Stone Interior. Base package to give me more headroom. I am getting them to add XM radio. That is the only add on. Don't want the auto rear window, tilt rear seats, auto on/off headlights. Will miss homelink and maybe the BOSE.

Paid .5% over invoice which is like $145 dollars over. Waived the security deposit and any disposition fees. Only money down is $393. That is the payment for 42 months at 15k miles a year.

Pretty pleased with this after my 4 month research effort. I was really close to getting the TL but after all the vibration issues, transmission issues I just decided on the G. I loved the G from the beginning but it gave up more headroom. My solution was to get rid of the sunroof and that adds 1.5 inches, per the spec sheet. I have not sat in the car yet or seen it in person. I have seen pictures of interior and exterior.

Any thoughts on this? colors? price, etc.?

    billykrebs,

I've seen several people referring to the VPP prices. Can you tel how do you participate in the program, it it available to general public or a limited group of the lucky ones :) Thanks for the info
  • lmacmillmacmil Member Posts: 1,758
I believe VPP is limited to employees of Nissan suppliers. The formula works out to .8% (.008) over invoice.
  • billykrebsbillykrebs Member Posts: 33
Maybe it was .8% percent, not .5% percent. I knew it was under 1% percent and I rounded.

My father works for a big company and that company is on the list of VPP customers. Maybe Nissan is a supplier to this company. I don't know. I do know that it is a big company and there are pages and pages of other companies that qualify for this as well. It is not just his company.

I know that it isn't available to the general public, because I have tried to use VPP in other states where his company is not located and they wouldn't do it.

The VPP is pretty good. It also waives the Security Deposit and disposition fee as well on the lease. That is why I am putting down so little.

I would check with whatever company you work for and see if they are on the list. If it is a big company it is probably a good chance from the companies that I saw on the list.

Hi Wilt, I got this deal from Ramsey Infinity on rt 17. Just signed the sales agreement yesterday. It also includes splash guards. Picking up my new G35 Coupe next Thursday!!! I'll post all the numbers such as cap cost, money factor, etc. after I pick it up. A comparison review between this car and the 2002 BMW 330i that I am returning at lease end will follow a few weeks later in the main Infiniti G35 Coupe tread.

    Stay tuned...
  • sysadmin1sysadmin1 Member Posts: 122
I think I am getting an awesome deal..

Just put a deposit to hold:
    05 G35 Sedan 6MT
    Silver with graphite interior

    Premium Package
    Aero Package
    Splash guards
    Trunk Mat
    MSRP 35090
My price 32995 which is 800 over invoice.
This is the first 6MT sedan this dealer has received! I tried another dealer that had a loaded 6MT sedan, with NAv that started at sticker and said since it was the only one around in NE, that sticker is the price.

This dealer shocked me with the price.

DO you think it is a good price? Was told that only 1200 6MT sedans were coming to US this year by the first dealer. Anyone else heard that story?

We havent talked trade yet but I dont think I'll get too beat up over my 02 Max I'm trading.

Might have dealer install XM and a clear 3M bra on it before I pick it up though.

Is $500 over invoice a good price for 05 G35C 5AT, or can i go lower?
  • andyjayandyjay Member Posts: 1
    Hope everyone is doing great.

I am looking to buy a G35 sedan RWD with a Premium package in the Illinois area and am in talks with dealers. The best quote I have at the moment is 32,290. Is this even near a good deal? By reading the mails here, I thought I could get one as low as 29,500. Please let me know if you have recently got a deal on G35.

    Thanks,
    Andy

Hi, after following this group for a while, finally signed a lease on a G35 AWD today at a dealer in North Jersey. Settled on a Lakeshore Slate with Premium Pkg. 42 months, 15K/yr for $450/mos including NY tax. Inception fees $1500 incl 1st mos pmt. Dealer also paying my last mos on a current lease to close the deal. LMK what you all think.

Thanks for all the excellent info provided to me through this forum... I've found it very informative and it has helped me significantly in making my decision...

I just purchased a 2004 Infiniti G35 coupe (Black with Graphite interior) for roughly $1450 below invoice cost... In NJ, that was very difficult to come by. No one in the neighborhood was willing to negotiate. After visiting 5 dealerships in about 3 weeks, I finally managed to get a heck of a deal at the 6th during this President's Day weekend.

The car was 36K+ and invoiced at 32.4K. The dealer, who was extremely friendly and helpful, worked to get me the car for 31K. Bottom line, taxes, doc fee, etc included came out to 33.2K with 1.9% financing for 36 months. (Over 3 years, if I put 0 down, assume that I would normally get 3.5% at the bank in CD's, I am saving nearly 900 dollars by financing). Therefore, for me, the car is costing 32.3K for everything...

I'm extremely happy and looking forward to learning some more on these forums.
  • dre3dre3 Member Posts: 1
    Hey Newbie,

How did you get 1.9% financing? I just bought a G35 coupe fully loaded without nav just last week.
My story and figures are just like yours and I am paying 6.75%. I have excellent credit. Did I get ripped off?
  • sysadmin1sysadmin1 Member Posts: 122
Waiting for a Sedan 6MT to arrive from truck or port at dealer. I am doing 60mo 2.9%. Infiniti has 1.9% up to 36mo until Feb28. 48 and 60mo go to 2.9% but still much better than the 4.75 I can get from my local credit union.

Hopefully my trade talks go as well as the price talks.

I'll know the last few details in a day or so I hope and will post them.
  • lmacmillmacmil Member Posts: 1,758
You talking a 2004? I asked for an email quote from Fields Infiniti in Glenview and told them I was expecting $2000 under invoice (based on posts here.) I never got a response.
  • jiminbjiminb Member Posts: 3
    I bought a 2004 where they are offering 2.9% for 48 Months and 60 Months. 1.9% for 12, 24 and 36 months.

All dealers should have this and requires roughly a 700+ credit score...
  • jiminbjiminb Member Posts: 3
Well one thing to bear in mind is that $2000 below invoice is being offered for dealers on the 2004 Sedans.

As far as the coupe is concerned, I don't believe they are offering this. On a good note, I believe most of the dealers probably have a deadline to get rid of the 2004 models. Here are the dealers in NJ that refused any types of deals (however I went to most of these dealers prior to President's day):

    Ray Catena
    Lynnes (nice folks)
    Ramsey
    Salerno Duane (nice folks)

Dealer where I was able to negotiate:

    Douglas Infiniti in Summit, NJ.

Please bear in mind that the type of price that I received on a 04 with Premium package is being offered on an 05 with just sunroof at Ramsey Infiniti.

    Good luck negotiating...
  • gooddeal2gooddeal2 Member Posts: 750
I'm not sure about the rate now but when I bought my coup in Jan. there was no special APR for the coup even on '04. I got '05 instead cuz the dealer here in Philadelphia are not willing to go lower than invoice even on '04 (coup).

However, to pay over 6% for a car loan is a little too much, IMO, if you have an excellence credit score. I have like 15 credit cards and I got their balance transfer offer every week which are a lot lower than that: 0.9%, 1.9% OR 2.9% for life. Currently, I owe around 23k with citicard at 0.9% rate till paid off.

If you don't have that many credit cards like me, you might try to shop for a new rate with your bank...
  • vladc2000vladc2000 Member Posts: 43
This is so funny, my story is 100% opposite (see my post from January if you want a complete story).

Salerno Duane and Ramsey were very flexible
(So was the on in Englwood) while Douglass was very ridgid and the best they offered was a few hundreds more than my deal at either Salerno or Ramsey. I guess it depends on individual dealership targets, manager's mood, and perhaps the phase of the moon :)
    Bottom line: shop around!
  • grannickgrannick Member Posts: 2
sysadmin1, I am also from the Nashua NH area, and I'm curious what kind of deal you got through carsdirect. The Nashua Infiniti dealership was offering (Prez Day Sale) an '05 (I think!) G35x with prem pkg for $328/month, $2k up front, 42 mo lease. Not sure of a few things here, I'm going to call them this weekend to clarify, but
    1) are these for the '04 or '05 models?
    2) mileage on the lease term?

So far I'm leaning towards the RWD sedan because I heard the AWD have poor gas mileage and I want a 6MT (AWD only comes in AT), plus the 6MT is up to ~300hp this year. Not too keen on the RWD though, as I have driven 4x4 and AWD vehicles for the last 8 years now.

Let me know if you find any good deals out there, maybe we can leverage 2 deals to negotiate better terms?

I'm looking to lease a G35, but (for a number of reasons) I won't be leasing until this summer. I'm doing my research now but I was wondering if anyone had any idea how much I can rely on price figures that reflect current prices now as a prediction of the general price range this summer. Do prices generally rise or fall during the summer months? Is there any way to generalize? I know this may be tough to answer, so my apologies. Just giving it a shot.
  • lmacmillmacmil Member Posts: 1,758
As you get later into the model year, prices might fall somewhat and certainly lease residual will. No way to predict the money factor.

Last Valentine weekend, I bought a 2005 G35 Sedan w/ premium package (full size spare) for $170 below invoice. That's $3100 off MSRP. I also got Ininiti 1.9% for 3 years. Can someone comment on the deal I got. I bought it from a dealer from the South San Francisco bay dealer. Thanks.
  • ruag35onerruag35oner Member Posts: 12
Well, I picked up my new 2005 G35 Coupe today :o) Here are the final lease details as promised...

Leased a 2005 G35 Coupe [no Nav] AT, Premium Package, Splash Guards and Trunk Mat.

    39 Month Lease
    15k Miles Per Year
    MSRP = $35,710
    Final Cap Cost = $33,877
    Residual $21,538
    Money Factor = Not Listed
Total Due @ Signing = $1,200 [MV Fees, Doc Fees, Anti-Theft Etching, 1st Mo Payment]
Monthly Payment = $430 [including NJ tax]

Edmunds says the invoice price with these options should be $32,869, so based upon my final cap cost I paid about $1,000 over invoice. The Edmonds TMV price for my area was $35,078.

I picked up the car just as it started snowing hard here in Jersey, so I only drove it straight home. But that was a great 18 minute drive!! Kept the stereo off and just listened to the engine purr.
