tiramisu, 44444: I too am looking for the G35 in Houston. I'm wanting to lease the '05 Sedan, sunroof, wood pkg; possibly premium pkg IF I can get a good enough deal. 48 mo 15k/yr.
Just wondering which dealer you would recommend going to/ had the best experience at, and what to expect with residual, money factor, and purchase price/cap cost...
I have done some email - negotiating so far, but am waiting for their deals to improve.
I would love to hear any advice!! I am a first time buyer/leaser!!
I was given some lines when i went to look at the 05 6MT coupe that there is no way he could bring the price down below sticker? I have a feeling this isn't true at all from reading what others have gotten in this thread. I'm in SoCal OC area so what have been people been able to get these at?
"...there is no way he could bring the price down below sticker."
I don't know about your market, but if I was a sales guy and someone came in looking for a relatively rare model, that's the position I'd start with. You've got to decide what you're willing to pay then start negotiating. If you want to buy it worse than he wants to sell it, you're going to pay too much, imo.
Went into Fields Infiniti in Glenview, IL this afternoon. After driving around the lot a couple times due to the lack of parking spaces, we finally got into the showroom. There appeared to be salesmen available but no one approached me as I sat in a G35 or my wife as she got in an FX. We stood around for a couple more minutes and decided they didn't want our business and left.
They had also not responded to an email inquiry I sent recently. Business must be good if you can ignore potential customers.
Just bought a '05 Coupe 6MT in northern NJ (Ramsey Infiniti). I showed the salesman Edmund's TMV and the guy without hesitation wrote immediately the order for exactly that amount. It was that fast and very professional, no BS. Invoice $36,620 + TTL & Tx Paid $35,800 + TTL & Tx
I probably could have gotten the car for a few hundred bucks less if I haggled the price, but the smooth transaction was worth it. Comments welcomed
I'm looking to buy a G35 Coupe trim, Auto, with Premium package, and DVD Navigation System. I test drove the car today at "Kings Infiniti" (Brooklyn, NY) and it feels awesome. The dealer didn't want to give me an exact price to walk out with, but told me it would be in the ($34,200 to 35,200) range (including Destiation charges and other fees). Is that a good price? considering that the Invoice price for the car with my options is $33,801 (excluding Destination charge)
Sorry to hear about your experience at Fields. I have been having a nice email exchange with the Internet Sales Manager there, getting decent quotes. Not sure if that email is on the site, but I believe I contacted them through cars.com and got replies back quickly. I've always read that Saturdays are the worst to go car shopping, and it sounds like it's true!
When I go shopping for a car I prefer to be left alone until I'm ready. Did you ask any of the salesmen for help ?
As for the email, maybe they never received it. There's many of time I send emails to people and they never receive them. Did you followup with a second email?
When I've been in a showroom getting in and out of cars, I don't think I should have to ask for help. At the Acura dealer down the street, they had a couple of attractive young receptionists asking people how they could help you as soon as you walked in the door. If I had just been looking outside in the lot then I wouldn't necessarily have expected someone to come out.
I followed up with an email describing what happened the next day. No response yet and I'm not expecting anything. If I buy an Infiniti, it won't be from them.
pas21, I was just quoted $35,500 on an '05 G35x, premium C, nav, sirrius radio. This is a demo car with 5,000 miles on it. I calculated MSRP at $39,000 and invoice at $35,650 (the car has pre-increase pricing). I am in Ohio; the dealership is in Michigan.
I test drove a G35X this afternoon...loved this car. Then I asked for the best price they can give me for a G35X, with Moon roof as the only option (no premium package). Without any haggling, they quoted me $32,060. According to the sales person, this is $500 above their cost. I did not take this price on the spot, thinking probably I can get a better price, since my gut told me that their cost should be lower then they claimed, ( I don't believe that they are happy with making only $500 for this car).
What do you think of this price? Is it realistic to negotiate the price down to about $31k? Does someone has information about dealer rebate/incentive then their cost is below the published invoice price??
I think that's a decent price but since that was their opening offer, they may go lower. Invoice is $31,502 according to Kelly BB. Fyi, the VPP price (available to Nissan suppliers) is $31,757. There are costs built into the invoice price that the dealer recoups if he meets his sales quotas so ultimately he will make a little more than $500 at your quoted price.
Last night, I read through almost all posts in this discussion from March to Nov 2004, hoping to find the price change trend through the rest of the year before holiday season. Year 2004 and year 2005 are comparable, in that they are not end-of-model-year and no new model is expected the following year. Therefore, the real-world price change history of last year should mirror what will happen this year.
A summary of what I found:
1. At March of 2004, the best price reported in this discussion is about $200 above invoice.
2. From April to July, no better price was reported, and $200 over invoice is still the best price reported.
3. From August to September, some people were able to get G35X at $700 below (!) invoice. Many people got invoice price.
4. On both October and November, some outrageous deals were reported. A few people got their 2004 G35 at $2000 below invoice. The best deal reported was $4000 below invoice!!
5. Starting at November, the discussion of 2004 winded down. I guess the dealer inventory dried up by that time.
6. Regional differences played an important role in what kind of deals people got. Almost all best deals were reported in NJ/MD area.
My strategy :
After going through this discussion, and evaluated my current situation, I try to answer two questions I have for myself: When do I have to make a purpose? What a price can I get at the purchase time?
1. The car I want to replace, a 2000 Camry, is still in excellent condition. I just had its timing belt replaced three months ago. All four tires were replaced during 2003 Christmas time, and they are in very good shape. Plus, I don’t think there will be much snow left to fall this winter, even in Minnesota (snow condition is the main reason to get an AWD). Therefore, probably I don’t need a new car until winter of this year – this will be November of 2005.
2. Based on the price trend of last year, October and November are two months when outrageous deals were reported. I guess IF dealers still have a big stock of the current years’ model, they are willing to deal to get room for the next year’s model. The only drawback is that there may not a good selection left, and I may not get the color combination I really like. But I don’t care much about colors, and any color other than red will do for me.
After I went through the above logic, I think I better wait until end of September to look for deals again.
Any comments and input are welcome. Hope our discussion can also help others who are in the market for a new G35(X).
Your analysis seems about right. I think there were still left over 2004s well into the new year at the larger dealers. Once the 2005s came out with their improved interiors, it became more difficult to move the 2004s without substantial discounts. One Chicago dealer is still showing 30 2004s but unless he has some off site storage, he didn't seem to have nearly that many when I cruised through a week ago.
I imagine the 06 models will be relative unchanged and dealers will be keeping closer tabs on their inventory so there probably won't be quite the selection of leftover 05s at the start of the 06 model year as there were this year.
***4. On both October and November, some outrageous deals were reported. A few people got their 2004 G35 at $2000 below invoice. The best deal reported was $4000 below invoice!! ***
WOW!!!$4K below invoice in Oct.? I hope that was a BRAND NEW car and not a demo with 5K or even 10K miles on it. With that hug discount he/she can drive for 1 year and trade it in with almost not losing money.
I am very interested in a 2004 G35X. I went on Carsdirect.com and its suggested price was $29860 and they forwared me to Infiniti in Lisle, IL.
It was the worst experience doing this on the internet. From the beginning, I told them the exact car/color I was looking for. In a matter of two hours they went from 9 cars down to zero (sure). I asked if they could meet the carsdirect suggested price and they kept asking me over and over what car I was looking for. It was all BS.
I refuse to internet shop for a car after this experience.
I have dealt with them via email also. I think they really try to get you in the store. I believe their inventory changes fairly quickly (they claim to be the largest dealer in the midwest) and they don't do a very good job keeping their website up to date. Got the same "what car are you looking for?" line. OTOH, Fields Infiniti doesn't even respond to website inquiries and ignores you when you walk into the showroom. Business must be good. They've pretty much steered me to a TL.
I have been looking for a G35 in Chicago, and the pricing for a 2004 G35 is all over the place for what new ones remain. The dealership experience also varies from no response (see above post) to response (Orland Park) with an outrageous price about a week after the initial request (not very timely). The approach to trade-in value is equally daunting with about a $5,000 difference on a $18,000 trade amongst the dealerships. Nothing has changed with respect to the sales experience and attempting to squeeze as much as possible out of the buyer. Good luck to all!
I was at this particular dealership on Sunday looking what they had in stock. I saw quite a few 2004 G35's that were marked sold and said new service loaner. Maybe that is why they didn't have any when you called.
This board has been very informative. Thanks to all contributors.
I am in the process of purchasing a 2005 G35x and have settled on a price of $750 over invoice, plus dealer-trade costs to procure the specific car I'm looking for.
I would appreciate your opinions on the wisdom of this deal, and what the cost of a typical dealer-trade might be.
Just got a quote in Atlanta market for 2005 G35 Sedan, base model (w/ sunroof) for $29, 750. The dealer told me that is 1% over invoice. Does anyone know if this is true? Also, do you think I can do better? Your help is much appreciated! Thanks.
I was quoted $32,060 for a G35x with sunroof without any haggling. I think I should be able to do better. This weekend I will offer $31,060 to them. If they don't take it, I will walk away, and wait for a few months before looking again.
Hi friends, Just bought G35 sedan this weekend. Ended up paying 28000 for the base sedan without any options. I stay in Sunnyvale, CA. I guess I got the car below the invoice price because of quarter ending. No dealer initially was ready to go below invoice as the car normally sells for 500-800 over invoice. But I managed to get this price quote from a dealer 40 miles away. (I guess they were trying to get rid of a few long standing base cars). I took the quote to other dealers and after hard negotiations, they agreed to match. I also got the color I wanted. I hope this helps someone out there. But please be prepared for serious negotiation with dealers. Almost everyone is trying to squeeze that last dollar out of you. Especially be weary of those finance guys. The sales man will try to show that he/she is on your side and is trying to get you a good deal. And would try to show as if his/her manager is not agreeing. The manager will never speak to you directly during the negotiations. It’s a big dirty game. The key is PATIENCE. Be prepared to walk out and let the sales guy know that you could walk out. And I am loving every minute in my new G35 awesome car
But ...."I ended up paying close to 30,660 (28k + Taxes and Fees)out the door.". If the sales tax is around 6%, the destination charge should be on top of the 28k price.
But anyway, it is a very good deal at this time of the year. If I can do as good as you, I should be able to get 35X with Moon roof below 31k, a price I will try to get this weekend.
I am in talks with two dealerships in the tri-state area... Pepe Infiniti and Ramsey Infiniti... The lease quotes below are from each dealership for an '05 G35x fully loaded including navi + XM radio:
Sale Price: $35,978 Acquisition Costs: $1995 Duration: 42 Months Miles Per Term: 12,000 Miles Monthly Payment: $489 Including tax
Sale Price: $36,500 Acquisition Costs: $3050 Duration: 39 Months Miles Per Term: 15,000 miles Monthly Payment: $472 (Discluding tax I imagine.)
Now the first one is from the internet manager who neglected to remember I requested 39 months, 15,000 miles. I requested she give me an updated quote but I don't think it'll go much higher... Thoughts on these quotes for a lease in NY?
I saw a lease deal on a dealer's web site. It is for G35x with moon roof, for $299/m, 39 mons, with $2995 acquisition fee. Don't know the miles limit. It is in Minnesota..
I was offered the following lease deal on VPP pricing for a G35 Coupe. MSRP: 35810 (premium package, splash guards, mats) VPP: 33103 Residual: 61% Money factor: 0.00255 Acquisition fee, title, licence etc: 709 Taxes: 2066 (state of texas) Monthly lease with downpayment of 2K is about $475
Do you think its a good deal? Since pricing is pretty much fixed, i have no leverage over it. Money factor was initially 0.0027 reduced to current rate.
Would you mind telling us which dealer you got this car at? I'm looking and would love to pick up a similar one with premium package C near that price.
I said I will wait until later this year to make the purchase, but I will make a try this weekend, hopefully taking advantage of the end-of-fiscal-year situation and the low APRs (good through the end of this month).
I will show up in one or more Infiniti dealerships, and offer $30,500 (including destination charge) for a 2005 G35x with Sun Roof as the only option. If I have no luck, I then have the right excuse to wait for a few more months.
What do you think of this? Will they laugh at me??
Just wanted to see what everyone thought of this lease offer I have on the table. Is this a good deal?
2005 G35 6MT with following options: Premium Package, Nav, Aero package w/o spoiler, trunk mat
39 month lease, $456/mo. First payment due at time of acquisition.
$35042 sale price. Acquisition and TT&L rolled into deal, total cap cost of $35,752, Residual value of $22,188, rent charge of $4205, total monthly payments of $17,769. = $456/mo
The dealer did offer a maintenace plan for $625 that included all scheduled maintenance and tire warranty for duration of lease. Anyone have experience with these? Is it worth it?
The lease is through Nissan-Infiniti and includes Gap insurance.
Anything I am missing? Good deal or not? Room to negotiate?
There's a nice Excel spreadsheet at carbuyingtips.com you can download for leases. I plugged in these numbers (still figuring it out) -- is your local sales tax near 4.5%? With that, and your numbers, it gets to a payment of $380.83 per month. It would seem from that there are no hidden charges. Interesting to see the "real" APR is 4.42%... Good luck!
If you like the car, find the best price in YOUR AREA and buy it. It's difficult to define the best deal because it depends on location, dealers, and the moment of time for the dealer. If you wait a couple more months and get the '05, you're more likely to get a better price but the '06 is around the corner.
Also, if you have a 3 or 4 years old trade, your trade will go down as well when the time goes by.
Even thought I like to change cars every 3 years or so, I hate car shopping. You need to spend so much time...2 or 3 days to buy a car. So if shop now and decide to wait a couple more months, you need to redo all of your work again...price...negotiation...
I live in PA and if I can get a G35 sedan at invoice, I will be happy already. I think it's really tought to get it at invoice not to mention below invoice.
One thing that I noticed for the Infiniti dealers around my area is that they don't beg customers to come back. I went to negotiate with 4 dealers when I bought my coup in Jan. The 3 dealers that I did not make the deal, never call and beg me to come back to do/negotiate the deal. Honda, Toyota, and Nissan always call back at least around 10 times...
It seems that people who can get a better deals usually live around NY city, LA, or San Francisco.
Thanks for your input. I like the car very much but feel that waiting for a few months will be better for me. But right now I am just a little too excited to put the whole thing aside. By offering a low price, I guess I just ask to be turned down and it will give me an "excuse" to wait for a few more months... But if they take it, I will be more than happy to make the deal.
Has anyone ever dealt with Infinit of Cincinnati? I have been corresponding with their Internet manager online and he seems to be a nice enough and knowledgeable guy. I would just feel more comfortable if somebody on this forum could relate their experiences with this dealer.
Hi - just wondering if anyone has recently bought a G35X from an Infiniti dealer in Massachusetts - specifically, Quirk Infiniti and what people have been getting for deals - I was looking at a G35X with premium package and wood trim..
These several days I have posted and read messages in this forum. Today I had a deal on the table, and I put a deposit for it already. It is for a 2005 G35X with Moon Roof, Splash Guards, and trunk mat. The price quoted is dead on the invoice. I will finish up the deal and pick up the car on Monday.
Anyone want to comment on this deal? I think it is a decent deal. I am happy about it!!

I buying in New Jersey if that matters at all.
Thank you!

Has anyone dealt with Infiniti Of Huntsville (Alabama)?
How was your buying and/or service experience?
I am primarily looking at the M35 but I figured more people from the G35 thread may have dealt with my local dealer.
Thanks.
I guess it included the destination charges. I ended up paying close to 30,660 (28k + Taxes and Fees)out the door.
Look like an awesome deal!
