catt- I use a system that I got from the web. You have to pay this guy $35, but it's well worth it. I don't think I can post a link here, it'll be censored, but it gives you a fightingchance. Google that, you'll find it. You will save money that way and save much hassle. This is my second time doing it this way and I won't hesitate to do it again.

I went to the infiniti website and then checked for dealerships within 150 miles of my zipcode. I then send a message to each of them via the infiniti website. Most places had someone contact me fairly shortly. I'll let you know how it goes.

Your very welcome. I'm glad it worked out for you. They actually had to get my car from OH, but were still able to give me a deal I was comfortable with. These local guys are just ridiculous, but as long as people like us are willing to go elsewhere for a better deal maybe eventually they will change their ways. I think you'll be very impressed with the personnel in L'ville when you go pick-up the car. It was very quick and painless for me, and they did not try to pull any fast ones. Just as we had agreed.

Enjoy your new car! See you on I-465.

called two places in Dallas. the first offered $33,261 and the second offered $32,877. neither know that I have called the other. the later is only $300 over invoice. Amazing, they haven't left much room to haggle.
  • envgeoenvgeo Member Posts: 8
one place countered at $31,700 including window tinting.

Just curious, why price out the vehicle with EVERY option selected?

i doubt you got dealer net cost.
you probably had an early 2005 version. when was your car made?

    rjb6:

    Thanks for your reply.

    I put a deposit down on a 2005 G35x with Prem C, wood trim & trunk mat for 33800.
I probably could have worked the salesguy harder, but I was doing most of my negotiations over email and a quick phone convo from work.

This is with Infiniti of Manhattan-anybody else have a good experience with the dealership before and after purchase with service?

The $500 deposit is refundable, so I'm thinking of shopping around this new lower price and seeing who will bite.

As a previous poster said, I hope Infiniti doesn't roll out a 1k cash back/rebate on the x as well...
  • rjb6rjb6 Member Posts: 29
    Yassy,

How do you find out when your car was made?? But yes I did get dealer net. I had to call the GM of the dealership about something after the purchase - when he pulled up my file one of the first things he said to me was, "Gee we didn't make a sent off you - you got the car a dealer net." Prior that I saw the invoice of the car, and I was 500 under invoice.

Thus far I have not seen another post saying they got 33,270 for g35x, premium C, trunk mats and mud flaps...

"why price out the vehicle with EVERY option selected? "

If you do that, then you get list and invoice for each option that might be on any car you see - you just have to match them up to the sticker. If you only did cars a limited specific way, and couldn't find one that matched, you be in the dark on mismatched options.

The sticker on the inside of the driver's door jamb (on the car, not the door) indicates month/year of the build. Mine is 05/02, pruchased in June 2002.
  • rjb6rjb6 Member Posts: 29
    Yassy,

My car was made 01/2005. Did the prices go up? What does that say about my price? I still saw an invoice price on my car of 33,7XX.
  • yassyyassy Member Posts: 70

yes prices went up from earlier 2005 versions. That being said, you still got a great deal!
I am still however trying to get mine. These fu..ing dealers try to work you. One said his holdback was 500 as you said, but I dont believe it.

CR states holdback is 873-947 on various g35 models.
They likely did make another 400 bucks off your sale.
Thats why I am wondering why any dealer would tell you what the holdback is.
I got into an argument with one dealer, telling him i didnt care what invoice was, that isnt dealer cost!

I hope they do offer 1000 buck incentive next month, we'll see
dont be upset if they do

CR's buyers guide is an excellent weapon against dealers, if you have a hard-copy in hand, there is not debate. :P
  • envgeoenvgeo Member Posts: 8
three dealers in dallas offered me 31,800 within a $100 for the four door, rwd, C package, with XM and the full size tire mat. Made my purchase today. Bought at Sewell and it was very straight forward.

Can anyone provide some insight on this quote that I received:

    G35 sedan, RWD w/
    -Prem. C pkg.
    -Navi
    -Trunk Mat
    -Splash guards
Quote: $33,000 + tax and license

He claims the MSRP is $37,180 which sounds about right....is this a good deal or can I do better?
  • yassyyassy Member Posts: 70
    frisconick
the dealers actually claim some numbers on CR wrong. CR was wrong about 1000 incentive on all g35 models.
    I question the holdback
anyone know for sure what it is. I know it is about 2-4% of msrp or invoice?
  • redz06redz06 Member Posts: 25
Please do a search. There are many threads on the Bose audio package. So many that the system has been nicknamed Blose. It does not compare to any quality system. Trust me. My G35 does not have the Blose. My Corvette Z06 does -- but only because I could not delete it at any price. Don't waste your money to by the Bose.

I am in orlando, fl. I just found the car which I wanted which is premium and satellite radio and tire and wheel package. msrp is 37150 they said 34500 out the door plust taxes tags and title. which is about 500 dollars above invoice. I asked about the dealer holdback because I had a paper stating 689 off the internet but they said they don't get anything. Which they are lying. the 500 over invoice is 200 + doc prep fee of 299. I couldn't get around it. They do not bargain at all. I don't know how anyone how people get below invoice. The would not budge at all. I haven't picked it up yet. so I still have time to back out. Any ideas? This was actually the dealership in Jacksonville, FL because the on in Orlando didn't have the color combo I wanted. but they best deal they would give me is the same thing. I didn't want to pay the prep fee and they said okay. then no deal. I walked out and left. I have been looking for this car for 1 year now. So I figure maybe thats the best deal I can get. Has any other floridians gotten a good deal on this g35 coupe automatic?

What is the invoice? I was about 800 below invoice. Hope that helps
  • grossiegrossie Member Posts: 41
redz- I would assume you are a real audiophile. I have a decent ear for sound and music (I'm a musician, I play several instruments) and I think this Bose system is quite good. It's pleasing to the ear, the definition is great and it plays well at loud volumes. I will admit I am not a true audiophile, but I can't imagine how anyone would say that this system blows. Is there better for the money? There always is. Is the average consumer going to want to bother? No, not really. IMO it's a fine stereo system.

I looked for the premium C package for the audio, the sunroof, the intelligent key (pretty cool if you ask me), and the memory heated seats. All together I couldn't imagine buying a luxury car without the luxury items.
  • guest123guest123 Member Posts: 27
After months of debate and research, I finally did it. I got my G35 4 dr, automatic today. The 1000 below invoice is true. atleast for the sedans. I would advise you to go with the Internet managers because they all gave me the 1000 below invoice.

I will not ask if I got a good deal because there will always be someone who got a better deal. Nothing spoils the fun of getting a new car like finding out someone paid a few 100s less!
Anyway, ended up NOT getting the Bose because the normal audio sounds just great. Nothing else is really attractive in the C package. I got the sunroof separately.
The interiors were much better than what I was expecting after the first test drive. I somehow thought they didnt look that good. It looks just fine now.
Its only been hours since I got it. Wish me luck
I was surprised to find out all Infinity dealerships around here give lifetime free oil change!

What do you mean "he claims the MSRP is $37,180?" What does the window sticker say? That's MSRP! Deduct about 10% and you got your invoice price so about $33,000. It's not rocket sciene! They got about a $1,000 holdback at year end. What other incentives do they have? Depends on model, month, region, etc..... I would say a sedan you should get slightly less but you are within $500. Good luck.
  • catt926catt926 Member Posts: 9
This is the first time that I'm actually buying a car on my own, so I'm not that familiar with all this, but I didn't get to see the window sticker because I got the quote over the phone. I'm in the So. Cal area - current incentives is 1.99% APR for financing and $1000 incentive (dealer cash); both offers can be combined together. The offers end tomorrow so I'm hoping to push for $33,000 out the door instead...is that asking for too much?? This is the lowest quote that I have received so far. Can someone pls explain exactly how the $1000 incentive works? Where is the $1000 incentive applied to?
  • rjb6rjb6 Member Posts: 29
    Larryallen707,

You can ask the dealership to see the exact invoice on the vechical you have chosen during the negotiation process. Once you have that dealer cost i.e. 20,000 - you subtract the $1000 dealer incentive that is on the car. This brings you to 19,000. You most likely can get the car at this price. However, there is another bucket of monies the dealer recieves i.e. Dealer Hold Back of about 500. (people have been debating the exact holdback money on this forum 500 to 800. Trying to take some of this money from a dealership is hard and requires luck.

    Recap:
    25,000 MSRP
    20,000 Dealer Invoice
    1,000 Dealer Incecntive
    500 Dealer Holdback
    -----------
    18,500 Dealer Net

Thus when you negotiate a price - start at the 18,500 price and then negotiate a bit up from there - do not go beyound paying 19,000. Good luck and please let us know what ends up happening.

I am using illustrative MSRP and Dealer invoice because in your post yo did not specifiy the options in your vechical which does not allow me to post the actual - which you can find within edmunds.

It's really me that you're answering to (not larryallen707). Anyhow, the car that I'm hoping to purchase is G35 sedan with prem. pkg C, navigation, splash guards, and trunk mat. I also wanted the rosewood trim, but one sales guy told me that the rosewood trim doesn't come in the model that I'm want.....is that even true or just a bunch of bs?! Anyhow, the best offer I've received so far is $33,000 + tax & license. I want to try to push $33,000 out the door instead. I'm hoping to get a deal finalized today because I would need to finance the car and the 1.99%APR deal ends tomorrow. Any thoughts?
  • larryallen707larryallen707 Member Posts: 174
If the window sticker (i.e. MSRP) is $37k you should be happy at about $36k out the door. Less than that you are doing well! I would think $35,500 is the bottom out the door (i.e. including tax, license, etc....). Good luck. :)
  • sd_diversd_diver Member Posts: 20
You did very well guest! I too got the 1K below invoice last weekend, but got the prem B and sport tuned susp. Out here in San Diego, we do not get the free oil changes - it costs about $30. At least they wash the car as well.
  • sd_diversd_diver Member Posts: 20
    Catt,
The rosewood only comes with Prem C. That said, you can only get Prem C with the 5AT if you do not get the sport tuned suspension. I liked the 18" wheels, which then left me unable to get the rosewood. After seeing the rosewood, I decided against it (IMHO the flat finish and dark color did not go that well with the stone interior). After reading what you want, it seems unlikely that you can do much better than 33K + tax/license, especially with the tax rate we have here in CA! Without the nav system, I was $34.6K after tax/license. The sales tax alone was nearly $2500!

Everytime I talked to the salesperson at the dealerships, they always gave me higher quotes than the internet guys. It is possible to play one dealership
against another and get lower pricing with the Internet guys too but the margin is very small. g_chick have you tried getting quotes using this (Edmunds) site?
If a dealership is not listed, you can still send an email from the dealership website. I got below invoice quotes from the G35, TL, Accord, Mazda and
about every other car I checked out.
I always take carsdirect.com's price as my starting point since it is pointless
to pay more than that when I know for sure I can buy at that price there.
Start with that and check the other quotes you get from internet managers
from the dealerships. I am sure you will get below invoice.
    Good luck

    g_chick,
Most dealerships have one salesperson who does fleet sales only. They are usually not commision-based like the rest of the sales force. They also usually have the back office that doubles as a storeage room! Call up that person. I got in touch with mine when I went thru Costco. Do you have a Costco in your area?
  • g_chickg_chick Member Posts: 3
yeah I did. Call already through the internet and he was actually 50 dollars higher. I called to every Infiniti dealership in Florida (miami, tampa and jacksonville, and orlando) and no one was budging on the price. They have specials for the Sedans but for the coupe it seems like they don't . I tried the quotes through Edmunds but all they do is put you in contact with the closet infiniti dealership for a price. I also did the dealership website and they do the same thing. I will check cars direct. Another post said check costco which Orlando does have one but I am not sure if that would change anything. Thanks for the info.

Congratulations. I, too, bought a similar G35 at Sewell. The process was much easier than anticipated, and I actually liked dealing with my salesman. Probably why I paid about $200 more for my car than you paid for yours. And Sewell was not even the lowest dealership in the area in terms of prices offered to me. The difference, however, did not warrant the drive north or west (ok, call me lazy).

You can order the 06 coupes first week of august, expect delivery around late october, early november. There are quite a few changes including bi-xenon projector headlamps, changed tail lights, optional active rear steer like in the new M, bluetooth, intelligent key, driver's seat and steering memory, new front fascias and side skirts for sport tuned models, new rear spoiler, speed sensitive steering, new steering ratio, new exterior color ( liquid platinum).
  • pmvipmvi Member Posts: 63
Does anyone know if there will be any incentives in August? There was a $1,000 incentive that expired today before I was able to get to the dealership. I located a sedan with the exact color and options I wanted (diamond graphite, premium, sport, navigation) for $1k under invoice but couldn't swallow the low trade-in for my current car. It looks like I will have my current car sold this week, but don't know if the deal will still hold up.

I would think they would continue with incentives since the 2006 models will be here soon, so hopefully the timing will work out and the car I want is still available later this week.
  • envgeoenvgeo Member Posts: 8
I got a quote of a $160 less than what i paid by another dealership in dallas. but I also went with Sewell because of their service and location.
  • vkchuvkchu Member Posts: 7
Any idea when the sedans will be available-in particular the 2006 G35x?
Bluetooth would be nice, and maybe a touch screen nav like the TL. Hopefully it is soon...
  • dampfnudeldampfnudel Member Posts: 131
October would be the earliest. I read on FA that the 2006 sedan will get bluetooth. No info on any Navi improvements. Yeah, I would like a touch screen as well, too bad Alpine can't license their navi systems to Nissan. I wonder if the sedan will also get the projector HID's.
  • pmvipmvi Member Posts: 63
In case anyone is wondering, the manufacturer incentive ($1,000) was extended this month. It's not listed on Carsdirect anymore, but I got it at the dealer.

    Bought my G35 sedan today!!

    fresh alloy.

We can't make up our mind, should we get a G35x or wait for the new IS250 AWD. The IS250 AWD has about 60-65 less hp (after Nissan lowers the HP rating for the G35 due to the new SAE standard), but everything else looks very good.

I'm really glad I checked out this message board before I purchased my new coupe. Everyone was so helpful and I really appreciate it. I got a great deal and my buying experience at the Louisville dealership was actually enjoyable. Is that possible for a new car buying experience? I did it all over email and phone and was treated like a queen...yes ma'm, no ma'm we'll do that for you, etc. When I got there they had the car up on the sidewalk like it was being showcased. I was in and out in an hour and on the road to Indy enjoying the ride home. They even called Monday to see if I was happy. I'll go along with teamboulton on this one, if you're in the midwest it's worth the trip to Louisville.

Catch me if you can on 465! :)

At www.sportzmagazine.com and they were quoting an NNA PR rep. The 06 should be in the ordering system by monda or tuesday next week so if you call your dealers you can find out for sure what the changes are. Prices probably wont be released till Sept or Oct. Delivery expected 1st week of Nov.
