I just paid $30 over invoice for G35x INCLUDING all fees except tax

Premium package C, Satellite Radio, Splash Guards & Trunk Mat

    Price Paid: $34,330
    Invoice = $34,297

Watchout for document fees which can range from $0 to $60 to $200 or more depending on the dealer. Most people here state the price relative to invoice which could be incouraging but incomplete if they also paid a document fee. It might be helpful to specify any additional fees.

Splash guards and the trunk mat seem to come on most cars so it was good advice I picked up here to leave them out of the equation when calculating the "invoice" price used to bargain with.

I appreciate all the info I picked up from this forum. It gave me the confidence to hold my bargaining position and get the G35x I wanted at a satisfactory price. Most quotes I was getting were $500 to $1000 over invoice and dealers without a lot of nearby competition seemed unwilling to bargain. Definitely wise to shop around.

I am looking to buy the exact same car. Can you tell me who at Lupient you talked to? Luther Infinity is stuck on 700 over invoice.

I bought my G35 coupe last night here in the Sacramento area. $500 over. They nickeled and dimed $60 for the "detail job when the car first arrived" and another $60 for the document fee but other than that it was $500 over invoice. I believe I could have gotten it for a little less if I had more time but not a lot less. I think if I have played two dealers off each other I could have gotten it down to $300. That's just my opinion but I have bought many new cars in my life. I prefer to be under invoice and into the holdback money but was not able to do that on the coupe. My coupe has prem package and that's about it. There is a dealer down near San Jose with several 6MT's with navi but I didn't think it was worth $2,000 (and didn't want to drive 2 hours) so I bought without navi. So far the car is awesome!

Was this an MT? What dealership? Was Infiniti financing available? What rate? Thanks!
  • yassyyassy Member Posts: 70
i hate to tell you, but could of got below invoice by several hundreds of dollars. I was getting quotes for same package without satellite for 33, 550. i think you could of done way way better than that

If you are looking at G35's Coupes currently on dealer's lots I would pay close attention to the base MSRP on the window stickers of the cars you are looking at. On one lot as I was looking at G35 Coupe Automatics, there were vehicles there with base MSRP's (before added accessories) of $32,400, $32,550 and recently arrived vehicles at $32,750. The base prices reflect how long that car has been on the lot as there were at least two price increases I know of for the 2005 model year. The true invoices should reflect those numbers.........the current invoice listed on Edmunds would be for the current base MSRP of $32,750. Make the necessary adjustment as you go into making your deal if the dealer is not showing you the invoice. I would think same would be applicable to the G35 Sedans and G35 Coupe 6MT as well. $200-350 swing if you find a vehicle with the older pricing.

    Yassy,

Didn't see this earlier, sorry. The G35X has already been equipped as below:

Prem C, Navigation, Wood Trim, Splash; $35,000 + taxes at 6%, plates + 4 years registration $320, doc fee $179 and tire tax 7.50 (total in NJ just over 37,500 all inclusive). (Black/Grey)

If you don't want the above, I'll negotiate with my salesman for what you're looking for and let you know. I get $100 credit for referral, we can split it! I still haven't picked up the car, probably won't till Tues next week (~that is if I decide to take it *scratching head*!).

P.S. They still have the 1.9% financing on 3-year, that can give you a small profit margin if you were planning to pay cash but invested instead.
  • bergoniacbergoniac Member Posts: 2
It all depends. If you take them on for the 3.99% finance and only can afford a $500 monthly payment; then you need a final price of about $27000. Final price is selling cost + tax + license fees - downpayment. The number of years and finance rate with what you think you can afford montly will determine you downpayment.

I got a 05 G35X with Premium Package C + Splash guards + Carpeted Trunk mat + All season rubber mats for $33,656 + taxes (7.5% in IL) + title + license. Mine came out to be approx $36,200 out of the door with 2.9% financing for 5 years.

If anyone needs a similar deal, let me know and I get a $100 reference from the dealer and we can split it.

I got my deal in CHICAGO SUBURBS,

Hey Olympus. I live in Chicago however I'm moving to Atlanta next month. I'm still debating whether I should wait until I get to Atlanta and purchase a similarly equipped G35 like yours(except no need for AWD) or see if I can get a deal here in Chicago and just drive it down. I thought IL taxes was 8.75%, if it's 7.5 then that's not too much of a difference from Georgia(Gwinnett County taxes 6.0%. I would like to know which dealer you got that deal from. Also, did you have the aero package and satellite radio included?
  • larryallen707larryallen707 Member Posts: 174
Yes, an MT coupe. Sacramento Infiniti (in Roseville). I had other financing arrangements so didn't ask about Infiniti financing. They had 3 or 4 other MT coupes on the lot when I got mine. None with nav. All had prem. 1 had spoiler. Good luck.
  • bk2500bk2500 Member Posts: 1
Have purchased the G35x yet? If so, where in the philly area did you go. Im looking to buy by the end of the month.

Also, what type of gas does the X take? I've heard numerous reports

VPP program on G-35 coupes is being honored by Towbin Infiniti, Las Vegas, NV. Got to figure out shipping expense but even with that included its cheaper than most local dealers. Just picked up the following:

G35, Ivory Pearl, wheat interior with Sport, Premium, Nav, Aero packages had it shipped and under cut local dealer by a wide margin.
  • 235home235home Member Posts: 5
How much did they discount from MSRP?

What are current rates on VPP?

Does anyone know whether these dealers will price just as aggressively on 2006 models at the beginning of 2006 shipments or are these discounts due to it being late in the 2005 model year?

    Thanks!

I live in the SF bay area and was wondering what your OTD cost was, because it would be no big deal for me to go San Jose and get a $2,000 lower cost. I plan to pull the trigger very soon.

Bought G35x yesterday. Pricing was similar, got same options except satellite package but bought wheel locks. Paid $34,249 ($200 over invoice) and took the 3.99% financing. I agree, few dealer options to choose from here in NYC. But it is a great riding car; clearly a 3-series killer (price and performance). :D
  • frisconickfrisconick Member Posts: 1,275
Congratz on your new ride!!! :shades: And the price seems right.

I drove 3 hrs to Boston last Saturday to sign the papers for my 2005 G35 5AT Coupe Lakeshore Slate with premium package, splash guards, and trunk mat. The sticker is $35,880 but I got it for $31,999. The surprising thing was the whole deal was done through the telephone a day earlier. The dealer name is Quirk Infiniti and I saw their advertisement over the internet. You can search 'Quirk Infiniti' and check out their web specials. The only issue I have is I live in Connecticut and I have to register the car here before I can drive the G35 off the dealer's lot. What a bummer!!! I will pick up the car on Tuesday. I'm coming from a 2003 5-speed Mazda Miata, which I traded-in, and a baby carseat forced me to drive a G35 Coupe. The automatic transmission was dearly requested by my wife. All in all, I lost a convertible and a 5-speed to this G35 5AT. Due to these losses my heart doesn't really jump at this car but who knows... I plan to put nice aftermarket 19" wheels later on.
  • frisconickfrisconick Member Posts: 1,275
You are crying for a Miata, when you just bought a G35 coupe? AT or not, the G35 coupe is twice the car! Hey I know, you liked the car, but the G35 coupe will very quickly win you over. ;)
  • g35_rong35_ron Member Posts: 12
    roca,

oddly, i went to that dealer today to look at the tan interior on a black coupe to see if I like that color scheme.

equally odd, i called all the dealers in massachusetts last weekend and none would sale for 500 over invoice. i ended up finding one for near invoice in Connecticut. What was the invoice for the base car at Quirk? 31999 for sticker would put the base car at (31999 - 2112 prem - 58 trunk - 154 splash = 29675) which sounds like a great deal. most places have the invoice base at 30300 after the holdback is taken out.

maybe he was willing to deal because it was automatic. what color scheme did you get?

    thanks
    ron

Olympus- I am interested in the same deal. I think I know where you got this car, but could you please confirm by posting the dealer name? If you don't want to do that you can email me, my address is available in my member profile.

    Thx

I'm finally ready to move on from my 2000 Passat GLX, and the G35 is one of the cars I'll be looking at. Any recommendations? Probably interested in the AWD to help pull through the DC area winter slush. Any particular buying experiences in the area to pass along?

    Thanks.

    Hi folks

I'd like to get the 2005 G35 automatic with Navigator, Premium package, Protection package (splash guards, Carpeted trunk mats, wheel lock).
What's thethe best price out there ? I'm in Northern CA.
    Thanks for your advice.
  • larryallen707larryallen707 Member Posts: 174
They had a lot at Sacramento Infiniti in Roseville last week. I bought my coupe there. Without too much hassle got a competitive price. Good luck!
  • allenchungallenchung Member Posts: 5
Hey this is what I was quoted from the dealer, do you think I can work the price more and by how much?

    05 Coupe 6-Speed
    * Ivory Pearl with Stone Leather interior
    * Splash Guards
    * Body Side Moulding
    * Trunk Mat
    * Premium Package (which includes the Power Sunroof, etc.)
    * Navigation

$36,630 before tax, tag, title and freight

How much is infiniti's feight cost? Or is that another term for processing fee. I think the price is just a bit high.

    Thanks for your input
  • larryallen707larryallen707 Member Posts: 174
That sounds good to me... except better figure out exactly what "freight" is. Assuming freight is $100 or so then it's a good deal in my opinion. Good luck!
  • frisconickfrisconick Member Posts: 1,275
It sounds a little on the high side. I would check other dealers in your area. You can do it on line very easy. Don't let them know you are stuck on just one car, let them think you are checking out other cars like a BMW.
  • mklmkl Member Posts: 1
I live in S. Texas. Looking to buy a base G Sedan w/ sunroof. No premium package. This is a quote I was given from an area dealer:

    MSRP $32,530
    Invoice $29,939
    Price $30,439 + tt&l

Do you think that is a good price? any thoughts? The dealers I have checked around here seem to be pricing $500 over invoice. I may be able to get them to sell for lower but not sure by much.

Also, has anyone seen the $1K manufacturer to dealer incentive listed here on Edmunds for G sedans? Is that incentive passed onto the customer by the dealer? Or is that just an incentive for the dealers to sell their 05's?

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
  • rocaroca Member Posts: 8
MSRP: 35,880 with premium package, splash guard, and trunk mat.
    Invoice: 33,055
    Got it: 31,999

This is like 1,055 below invoice.
The Quirk dealer gave me a discount of 3881. It came down to 31,999. I have the lakeshore slate with wheat interior. I drove it home last night and the car was so quiet and smooth on the freeway. This is just totally different from my ex-Miata for good and bad personal reasons...
  • moodgardmoodgard Member Posts: 37
mkl I think you should be able to use the $1,000 incentive as a bargaining tool to reduce the price further. It's not "passed on" as such, but it's their profit if you don't cut into it. I noticed the incentive is only on the G35 sedan, not the G35X or the coupe. Leads me to believe Infiniti has excess RWD G35 sedans to sell. I would look into a price significantly below invoice if I were you.
  • moodgardmoodgard Member Posts: 37
Congratulations on the new car, and the great price. I'm curious what your OTD price is, if something was tacked on in fees etc.
  • olympus8080olympus8080 Member Posts: 9
I got it at Infiniti Of Lisle. I have a salesperson who is very good and easy to work with. I highly recommend him. I don't think I can give out sales person names in this forum. If you need his contact email me (email address available in my profile) with your contacts and I can forward it to him or I can give you his details.

I paid $500 over invoice for a similarly equiped sedan. I think the price was fair given that there aren't many Infiniti dealers in my area. Unless you want to wait until the 2006s come out, I really don't think that is a bad price. What's a few hundred plus or minus?
  • migurusmigurus Member Posts: 4
    I got 4.9% 60mos, financed around 15,000
  • migurusmigurus Member Posts: 4
I have paid 31,300 for base model white ext/sand int. in Apr' 2005 (So Calif)
    Dealer asked initially for 33,700

I hate sunroof that is why I did not get upgrades, as dealer made clear I can not pick and choose features - I wished I could get 18" wheels. Every upgrade has been WITH sun roof, so I skipped.

It is just my thing - hate to have a hole in the roof, makes me feel insecure (rollovers, break-ins and such...)
  • yassyyassy Member Posts: 70
i personally think anyone here should be able to work and get 500 bucks below invoice. I have seen it before. I am going back to dealer later towards end of month. If you know dealer holdback, you are set
  • larryallen707larryallen707 Member Posts: 174
I paid $500 over invoice for my '05 6mt coupe... but with dealer prep and BS it was $600 over. I didn't quivel about the extra hundred as I wanted the car. I thought it was a good price. I figured there was another $100 or $200 but I didn't have time or patience to go to more dealers. Then yesterday someone above posted buying a '05 coupe 6mt for substantially UNDER invoice. I am very impressed and it was a real blow to my ego. Am curious though if you had a trade in? I am assuming you did and they got you there but I digress.... Today it was confirmed I must have paid too much as I got a call from Sherri's Berry's (a local chocolate covered strawberry delivery place) that the dealer was sending me a gift of thanks. Darn it! Nothing says you paid too much for a car than a "free" gift.
  • yassyyassy Member Posts: 70
I would walk away from any dealer saying they cant sell you a g35 for at maximum invoice price. They get a huge holdback.

There is also cash incentive now on the g35 sedans except awd version.
  • larryallen707larryallen707 Member Posts: 174
I think you are half right Yassy. I think there is a huge difference in the market for sedans v. coupes. In reviewing the board above the last month lots of people have bought sedans below invoice but only one, that I remember, bought the coupe below invoice!? Incentives (cash and/or financing) have been on sedans only I believe. I have bought a lot of new cars over the years and have bought several via email/fax/phone so am expeirenced in drawing out potential sellers. When I mentioned $500 above invoice on this car I didn't get much action. Usually you get responses like, "just come on in and we will take good care of you..." which means MAYBE they will beat the price you are talking about paying; but I didn't even get that much back. I think $500 over on a 6mt coupe, no financing and no trade in is a decent price. They have about a grand hold back and, at least on the coupes, no other known incentives I believe.
  • g35_rong35_ron Member Posts: 12
For a coupe the Infiniti dealer is offering 4.99% financing. Is that good?
  • g35_rong35_ron Member Posts: 12
    roca,

was it an automatic or manual?

you really did get a good deal. i'm suprised the sales person balked at the quote I have from the dealer in CT.
  • rocaroca Member Posts: 8
I got the automatic. Print out the ad from Quirk website and bring it to your dealer and you might get the same deal without travelling to MA.
  • moodgardmoodgard Member Posts: 37
    Yassy,

Just curious if you had a chance to read my last post to you, and had any interest. I still haven't been able to pick up my car, since the salesman is out sick! I've enabled my email id to be visible, please email if you have interest. (I realize it's out of state and can be a pain in the a**).

By the way, I do regret making my email id visible, I'm getting spammed like crazy, and it's been spam-free for over a year since I got the id.

    Hello every one,

I read this forum with a heavy heart because I know I got screwed on the price of my car. I leased it for:
    3k down
    $461 per month
    39 months
    15k miles per month

The car is a manual coupe with premium package but without navigation.

I really love the car and agreed on their price way to soon. I guess I did not haggle too much because I knew this was one of the only three coupe manuals in the SD area and one of the others had a color i did not like.
  • moodgardmoodgard Member Posts: 37
Sorry to hear you didn't get the best deal on your lease, but don't feel bad about it. You got one of only 3 cars in your area, and you liked the color on the one you got. Plus, you already have it, and are enjoying it, so it's different from those of us who are yet to buy or lease the car late in its model year.

I hope you get the full mileage from the lease (is it 1500 miles per month or 15,000 per year - not very clear), that's one way to make sure you did the best with what you got. I leased a J30 for 36 months several years ago, with a total 36,000 mile provision, and when I returned it, I had used only 8,000 miles. I probably paid a lot also, since these forums weren't available then.

Once the deal is done, all that's left is to have fun with the stuff. Good luck.
  • nyrefugeenyrefugee Member Posts: 35
I meant 15k miles per year. Sorry about the screw up. It is the most miles they will offer in a lease. It is going to be my only car, so I do not want to worry about going over the limit.

I need some help here guys. I spent the afternoon at the local bmw/infiniti dealership and weeded out everything but the g35 coupe. There's only one dealership in the city so I don't have any competition without traveling 2 hours. Here's my issue. There wasn't one exactly like I think I want on the lot(g35 couple auto w/premium package). So the salesperson pulled out the price book and said it would be $32 & change for the base model plus $2,400 for the premium package and looked at me like get out your checkbook. How did you all get them to negotiate or even talk invoice pricing. I noticed a few of the cars had the stickers missing from the windows and she said she didn't know what happened to them. I find this a little odd but it is a very reputable dealership. What would your next step be? Now I'm waiting on the insult value of my trade to arrive via email. Any help you guys can give me would be great.
  • g35_rong35_ron Member Posts: 12
i messed around trying to talk some of the local car salepeople down without much luck -- they truely can be jerks. i went to consumer reports:

    http://www.consumerreports.org/main/newaps/aps_home.jsp?aps_type=new&KEYID=nc5&KEYADID=nch- ome

and ordered the single report for the g35 coupe. it lists all of the invoice prices for each option on the car including expected holdback and shipping fees. it also outlined what price to start with.

i calculated what the expected invoice price is for the car i want and then started calling dealers. i didnt mess around and just said, i've got the invoice price and i'll pay 300 over and no more... interested? i found one who was (granted i still dont have the car :| but the salespeople cut the crap after i had the invoice prices).

    the other advice is:
    1. if they agree -- get it in writing then and there (i had them fax it to me)
    2. they will do anything they can to get you to put a downpayment on the car while they continue processing... dont do it unless they have the car and youre ready to buy right then.

the place im dealing with doesnt have the car and i stupidly gave them 500 bucks down, now they are dragging their feet getting it....

    good luck
