We are getting ready to buy, working with Acura of Lynnwood has been a good experience so far. Looking at the the MDX with just the tech pkg. Where did your's fall between invocie and MSRP. Trying to gauge where I might come in and how far to push it. We have an offer from Bellevue Acura, but is about $2500 over invoice,
Just purchased an 07 MDX Sports pkg (not Entertainment), nimbus gray/taupe with added auto rearview mirror, roof racks, running boards, towing package and side moldings.
Some info to share with everyone on my shopping experience Southern California, South Bay Beach cities – LA/Orange County
This was a six month process for me as I was in no rush and I shopped 5 dealers: Santa Monica Acura, Planet Acura (Downey), Cerritos Acura, Tustin Acura, Power Acura (Torrance). I also tried AAA and Costco programs. Also I only dealt with Fleet Managers.
Power Acura of South Bay in Torrance was leaps and bounds lower in price and better shopping experience. I am talking many thousands of dollars difference as well as discount on accessories mentioned above. The Fleet/Internet Manager (and you can find the name from their website as I am not allowed to mention names here) was an absolute pleasure to work with. He put the invoice prices in front of me and informed me how much “below” invoice their offer would be as well as discounts on accessories. I am not naïve and well aware of dealer holdbacks and factory incentives. Not once there was any sales pressure, annoying phone calls, would you buy this now if I did xyz, nothing of the sort. During the course of the few days, we had intelligent and comfortable discussions and emails.
Not only other dealers couldn’t touch the prices, they wouldn’t even believe me. They also tried to lure me back with life-time free oil changes, after market “non-manufacturer” extended warranties, etc. etc. What good is free oil change if I have to drive 50+ miles each way to get it? I did not get the extended warranty as I found the cost of the manufacturer warranty to be very expensive and I was not able to negotiate it down. Be aware that some dealers do offer non-manufacturer extended warranties at lower prices that you can negotiate.
Power Acura’s Fleet/Internet manager delivered everything we spoke of, and then some. They were patient and very pleasant. I cannot recommend them enough. What a different and pleasant car shopping experience. I tried two methods of negotiation w/ some of the dealers and my suggestion to those of us who think we are tough negotiators: Be realistic on your expectations and be courteous and you’ll have a pleasant experience, freebies, discounts and more. Expect the same treatment in return if you choose to be an a-hole.
Depending on the model, color and immediate available inventory, you should be able to get the 07 MDX at dealers invoice or better. Also you should be able to get some discount on accessories. Probably you can do even better on the 07 models when the 2008s come out, pending your flexibility on colors and models. Hope you find this useful. Good luck and I thank others on this forum for wealth of information which helped me in the process.
I purchsed it On July 28th. I basically negotiated the price to $400 above invoice over the phone/email with "Mark W", their internet sales manager( I thought he was a nice guy). When I went to the dealership, they had sold the one I wanted. So I was about to head off to Sterling mccall when they agreed to $150 above invoice (including nitro/tint/ docfees..etc). Also purchased chrome side steps and body side molding ($717+$255). That may have sweetened the deal for them!!
Hi, I am thinking of getting an MDX, but am in no hurry. Given it's year end, how much discount can one expect? Most of the dealers have quoted me about 1-2 above invoice when I asked for quote on internet. Is that good, or is price at or below invoice possible given it's year end?
I just moved from Canada, so I am not too sure how aggressive prices are here. Can you actually get them to sell it below invoice? And when's the best time to buy given I have no urgency to get it.
From my own research and buying experience, prices within different parts of US may vary a lot even in the same time period. Just look at the last 100 posts in this forum and you will know what I mean.
I think if you are not very picky about the colors and options, August month end may be the best time to buy. I bought it in Central NJ in July month end and was able to get about 1K below invoice. The inventories in August end may be running low since 2008 model cars are coming to the dealer lots and they clear out 2007 models. Good luck.
I'm in Torrance and I'm shopping for a new vehicle. I was looking at Toyota and Lexus and they were the most useless and rude salesmen I've run into. The Manhattan beach Toyota is a Nordstrom's experience when it comes to service. I am now looking at the Acura MDX and I'm glad to hear you had a great experience with them. I was beginning to feel discouraged about my local dealerships. Did you have any ill experience at the toyota or Lexus of Torrance? I've met two other people who did. Do you know when the 08's are expected to arrive? I noticed how much the Lexus RX 350 lowered in price after the 08 arrived and I'm willing to wait for the Acura.
I just received this quote from a dealership on a base MDX. Invoice 36,950.00 They are willing to sell it for 37,850.00 36 month lease, 15,000 miles a year .00209 money factor and 56%RV(27,775)
monthly payment 563.00 plus tax w/663.00 plus tax at signing
I find it interesting that Power Acura was less than the other dealerships you mentioned. I live about 10 minutes driving from the dealership and they have terrific maintainance dept, but if I were going to buy a car I would not buy from them. I guess Ill take a look at their car prices again compared to others. Congratulations.
I'm ready to trade my '02 MDX for and '07 Sport/Ent in the Seattle Area. We have bought cars from Bellevue and Lynwood stores without great service. Where are Seattle Buyers going, and what are you paying? Do we need to buy down in Oregon as another post suggests? Thanks for any advice.
Hi, Where in Ohio did you get your quote? I have been researching the MDX pricing in the northeast Ohio area. I have yet to get a quote but I've only been in touch with one dealership so far and starting numbers were mentioned at around 40,000 for the base. Now that I see what you were offered, I couldn't help but ask where the dealership was located.
I finished my search yesterday. Bought my MDX with Tech and Ent pkg for 42460. A little more then I wanted to pay for but Houston market only had 4 more the MDX's i wanted.
Anyone here buy an extended warranty...any recommendations?
Well...the way I did it was that I negotiated with all of them over the email. Champion was the first one to offer me the best deal..42700...but they did not have the color i wanted...but i used their price to ask everyone else to match it and they did....then i focused on the dealer who had the most number of MDX on their lot...they would be ready to make the best deal...
The sales guy at all the dealerships were not ready to give me the deal...i had to talk to the sales managers and they were the ones who got me the deal...it took over a month to get it all together...
The name of the sales manager at Sterling McCall was Tony Chan.
Looking at an MDX Tech & Ent in Atlanta. What dealership did you deal with. I've been getting quotes from most in the Atlanta area but haven't actually been on-site to haggle with any yet.
I tend to differentiate between the purchase and the service. We have been shopping for a Sport ppkg MDX and have been to Bellevue and Seattle.
Bellevue was the worst car buying experience I have ever had. The salespersons attitude was atrocious and they were asking for $2200 over invoice. No negotiation. We walked out. Friends at work related similar purchase experiences but claimed that the service department was good.
We were at Acura of Seattle and they wanted $46k plus change as their opening bid, including NW Pro Package, dest and prep. Then they dropped to $44.6k for special group pricing for the above. That was still high by $2050 over invoice. I countered with $400 over invoice. They went into the song and dance about "True dealer cost" but ignored my rebuttal of having "True dealer cost" including holdback and incentives. They were pitching it as 3% over TDC. We left and they came down to 2% within 5 minutes on the phone. Today their general manager called and offered 1% over TDC. Roughly $750 over invoice. Still high but not exorbitant. Our DIO package is close to another $1500 so there is more profit in there for them.
I was just contacted today by Acura of Lynnwood. They quoted lower prices for the DIOs and wanted to talk about the base price.
Trouble is, Bellevue is the closest and they jack up their service prices 10% (or so I heard) if you don't have their "purchase discount". :P
I completed a comments form on the web site for their dealership, describing how bad things have been. I addressed it to the dealership owner. I don't know whether anyone will contact us or not.
I think you can find one here if you can negotiate and I don't know that running down to Oregon is worth the difference.
Purchased a 2007 MDX Sport last night for 41,500 including destination plus TTL. No hassle, no negotiating... I called Friday morning checking for a 2007 Nimbus Gray w/Ebony interior Sport / Entertainment and their was only one at the dealership... So I requested the salesman check the miles... he called back 30 minutes later and advised another salesman called their customer and they immediately put a deposit down... Okay... no problem... I'll just keep checking... So I started thinking... Do we really need the DVD? So I inquired if they had a Nimbus Grey Sport on the lot, and luckily they did... he ask how much I was willing 2 pay... I gave him my price of $41.5, advised I'm a repeat customer and the deal was done! Picked up the SUV later that day with no problems..
Yes, 41500 is a great price for the tech/ent package along with the accessories you mentioned. I'm a little upset I didn't get the accessories also... Good Luck!!!
Sorry - let me clarify - that's consumer reports bottom line price. According to them, invoice is $42533 and there is a dealer holdback of $1371, making their bottom line price $41162 - this is the place they suggest starting your negotiations and going up from there instead of down from MSRP. The other place I got a lower Invoice price than what you're showing was at Consumer Guide (how stuff works) - they showed $41193 for invoice on the Tech/Ent MDX. Hope that helps.
I bought a tech package the last week of July from Fairfield,CA. I paid $41,200 before taxes and registration. This included the sport running board, roof rail and racks. This is the closest to the invoice price I got.
The sales staff Tariq/Nick were very pleasant to work with and would highly recommend it. Avoid the Marin Acura, the sales guy Ben is a nut.
Just got back from a first round of negotiations with three Acura dealers in the Boston area for a 2007 MDX sport pkg.
Best price so far is $300 over invoice, but I have gotten some guidance from one sales guy that he might be able to get me an invoice deal if I was going to sign today.
I thought that I read somewhere in this forum that Acura is providing dealers with a $1,000 price adjustment on 2007 MDX's so that dealer invoice is now effectively $41,004 (rather than $42,004) for the sports trim pkg (including destination). Is this accurate?
If this the case, what ought to be a reasonable and fair price to pay for the MDX?
I do not plan to take advantage of the dealer financing incentive. Does this effect the price the dealer should be willing to sell the MDX?
Plan to add the following accessories: *roof rails *body side molding *cargo cover *wheel locks
Lisam35 - from consumer's reports, they are showing the invoice of the Sport/Tech as $42443 incl destination. They show a $1368 dealer holdback on this model. For the Sport/Tech/Ent model invoice is $44423 incl dest with a $1434 dealer holdback. They also recommend that you not talk about financing until after you've agreed on a final price since dealerships make money on financing. They suggest that if the salesperson asks about a trade in or financing you just say you haven't decided yet and keep negotiating for the best price. I don't have any information on the accessories since those are all dealer installed and not factory based. Hope that helps.
So am I correct to conclude that the net dealer cost, incl destination, for the Sport/Tech model, after holdback, is $41,075? Is the holdback a specific model year-end incentive or has Acura always provided this for 2007?
Edmunds shows dealer invoice of $42,004, incl destination, with no other incentives except for financing. Any thoughts whether Consumer's Reports or Edmunds is more accurate?
Yes $41075 is what they call their bottom line price and they suggest negotiating UP from this point. The dealer holdback is a % of the MSRP that the manufacturer holds and then gives back to the dealer either at the end of the year or quarter. I'm not sure which this one is referencing. Holdbacks are different from incentives which typically are given by the manufacturer to increase sales of a particular vehicle. CR isn't showing any dealer incentives on this vehicle. I also checked on Consumer Guide.com and they are showing the invoice for this as $41103 plus $670 destination for a total of $41773. Found this interesting because that's what CR reported as base w/o dest. Sorry to throw a lot of numbers, not sure which one is exact, but hopefully it will help you.
i bought a base MDX in NC 1 month ago for $37,100 and they thew in rubber mats and wheels locks (usually $399). so you should be able to get a base for less than $37k.
I took delivery of an '07 MDC/Tech last week after dealing with four Boston-area dealers (internet managers). Acura of Boston was the best to deal with, and offered the most competitive pricing. At the time, they also had the biggest selection of inventory, as we had our choice of colors in the Tech-equipped model. I'd be happy to furnish specifics if you're interested.
Thanks, I am interested in your deal specs if you don't mind sharing them with me. I'm going through in-store sales guys, but assume they have access to the same pricing as internet mgrs. I've been to Fram, Walpole and Boston.
I'm going to the Riverside dealership tonight. Price I received after multiple price matches was $43,090 for the Sport & Ent package, including dealer installed wheel locks. It should be a little under $47 out the door. I will update once I actually have the vehicle in hand!
That seems like a great price. I paid $41,800 which was the lowest at the time in our area for Entertainment/Tech package. The prices are coming down since they are getting ready for the 2008 but the color/interior selection may not be exactly what you want. Look at the edmunds invoice price for a base model and you should be able to get it for around $200 under that if you really look and call around
Guys, can anyone let me know if you bought mdx sport package recently, and what was the price you paid for..am looking to finalise this weekend.live in NJ
lisam35 - you should also check Sunnyside in Nashua. A few weeks back while we were shopping for a CPO, the salesman commented "we could offer you a brand new one for very close to invoice". Though that may just have been a carrot - but they had lotsa 07's in the back.
I bought MDX Base model in Central NJ with Wheel Locks, All-season floor mats and Cargo Tray for 39,150 Out the door price. This includes every single price/fee/charge.
The deal at Riverside didn't go through. But I was able to get one the MDX sport/ent but I did purchase one from Weir Canyon for $43,400, including wheel locks, cargo tray and cargo cover. OTD price came out to $47,250. Overall it was a good experience! Thanks for all the knowledge from the website!

- includes cargo mats

- all weather mats
is that a goog price ?
please respond asap.
thanks.
I'm a little confused. Nowhere did I read the base invoice for mdx tech/ent was 41,162. Can you let me know where you got that number.
Edmunds quotes the invoice price without destination which comes to $42094 - $670. Whereas kbb.com quotes invoice which includes destination $42094.
I am hoping I am looking at the right numbers and websites.
Please respond.

Can you please share your drive out costs? Can you please share the breakout figures? Did they charge, dealver inventory fee?
I had discussions with the same delaer ship and one of the other costs i see is dealer inventory fee / tax.
Thx.

I got a quote through email from Northeast Acura with the price of $38,785 plus taxes and mv fees. What do you think about the price?
Thanks in advanced!
good luck. let me know how it turns out.
How's the LCD monitor on the Base MDX? I know how does it look on the Tech package (it is the NAV screen) but how is it on the Base?
what is the difference in the price of the Base MDX and MDX w/ Tech package?
