Yes, the different trim levels do effect headroom. Models with a sunroof loose a couple of inches, so make sure you sit in the trim level you plan on buying. I'm 6'1" and I have a 04 sedan with a sunroof, and still have plenty of headroom.

I bought me an Accord in april and my son an 05 Civic coupe in March. I was out in his car today. I am very comfortable driving it. It is a five speed and although it does not have the leg room of the accord it is comfortable for me at 6'6. I think you would be fine in it, but it is not the car the Accord is. I was going to purchase a Civic for myself but I decided on the Accord and I am glad I did. I could purchase a Civic VP for 12000 at Westgate Honda in Knoxville, Tennessee in March. The Accord EX-L five speed 4 cylinder was 21,800. If you have the money, the Accord is worth it.

Try it Chip-Mender brand touch up paint pen. It's works much better that Honda Touch Up Paint. You can buy it from: http://www.handa-accessories.com/accext03.html

I also have this problem (added barely 200 miles), but in my case there seems to be rattling in the back seats.. was slightly disappointed, but other than that the car is an absolute delight.

I'm 6'4 and fit nicely in the accord coupe. It's very differernt from the previous generation I drove. Leg room is fine. Head room is ok too. It's visibility out the front window and side windows that I have to get used to. Everything in this car is lower. The placement of the rear view mirror has taken some getting used to. I test drove this car 7 times before I finally bought one.

A few extended test drives is the best way to decide. I drove a civic coupe too. Not bad but the ride and speed doesn't compare to the EXL Coupe with MT.

You're probably right since she said she rubbed against a cement barrier. Just didn't want her to assume that the touch up paint will make her car look like new again. I've been able to eliminate key scratches with a good rotary buffer so was just suggesting that she take this in stages. Once the touch up paint goes on, it's pretty much there for good whether you like the results or not.

How soon after you bought your Accord did you install the K&N air filter?

    TIA!

Only a week or so :) About the same for the Borla and super-whites.

The Borla exhaust fit perfect and gives a very very nice sound on take-off and WOT. However, it is not intrusive at all cruis'n on the highway

I has some HIDs ordered through 7th generation group buy for $315, but it fell through. I found another place to order for about $450, but have never ordered. The installation didn't look too bad. Amazing on the Accord Coupe on left you take out the fender wheel cowling and the air feed to install a low beam headlight :confuse:

Thanks for the quick response :)

Another question ... Taking into consideration it was only a week for the air filter swap, how much of a difference would you say you noticed in gas mileage and performance?

    TIA, again!

I get mileage 23.5 comuting 45 miles a day ( about 10 miles 75--80, 8 mi les 55-60, 5.5 stop-n-go city). I took a road trip to Plano ,TX and go 29.6 on the highway mainly 75 mph.

Don't know about the performance before and haven't really timed the 0-60 mph time. I had a 98 M3 5-speed sedan with different exhaust. Accord is pleasingly close to the M3 in performance (acceleration). I think the estimates for the 6-speed Accord are 0-60 mph in 5.9 seconds and the M3 was rated at 5.6 seconds; maybe I got a .3 improvement. maybe not. I also have a 5-speed 2002 Lexus IS300; Accord is much faster in acceleration. The 5-speed Lexus is rated at 0-60 mph in 6.8 seconds.

Handling Accord is good, IS300 is better and the M3 was much better. I probably won't do anything about the handling though.

To be honest, the K&N Air Filter may not have added that much horsepower. I did put a cold air intake and Cat back exhaust on a 95 Acura Integra GSR and it made a noticable difference.

Good Luck and enjoy your car.

I just went today to get my 2005 Accord Coupe tinted and they told me that the cars rear window was impossible to tint because of the "black circles" that Honda manufactures onto the glass. He tried tinting it anyway and it looks like crap because the tint did not stick to the glass (prob. because he's not doing it right) I was just wondering if this was a problem that anyone else is running into, or is this guy just inexperienced????
    Thanks for your help guys!

I had the same thing see post #1368.. By the way, the Edmunds forum search works very well, try searching this message thread with the word "tint" for more responses.

    Good luck ,

I had my 03 Coupe tinted and the place had no problem with the black circles. We noticed a few very minor places where the tint didn't stick but, like MidCow said, overall it still looked fine. Maybe it depends on the experience of the place you are dealing with. We have plans to take our 04 sedan down to Florida next weekend and hopefully it will turn out as well as the other cars we have had done down there.

    Hi everyone!
I have a 2005 ex coupe, I'm looking to install bright whites headlight bulbs, what brend it's the best for this car? It's very difficult for me to find one that fits, so if you have the model # and make that would be great.
    Thank-you in advance
  • midnightcowboymidnightcowboy Member Posts: 1,978
I don't understand your statement "..It's very difficult for me to find on that fits." The headlight bulbs are a standard size, 9006 (low) 9005 (high). Normally you only replace the low beams and any 9006 bulb will work. However, get one that has a similar wattage; I believe the standard is 55 watts. Example, if you go to 110 watts you double your amperage and if can melt wires.

I installed Sylvania Super Whites and iIam very pleased. I also have fog lights and with both on, the fogs look very Yellow. The only downside, if you read forums, is that the bulbs only last about 6 months.

If you really want some bright lights install true xexon HID lights see this link for an example. http://www.xenonfactory.com/

You will find out when you change headlight bulbs that you have to go in through the front wheel cowling from the wheel well. On the left side you also have to remove the engine air intake. Not a big deal, but not as easy as most cars.

How much is it to have fog lights put on? I have an '05 coupe EX-L
  • midnightcowboymidnightcowboy Member Posts: 1,978
Installation by Honda is fairly expensive about $500 installed ($330 part cost). They install a relay so that they only operate when your low beams are on and put a on-off lite dash switch.

They look very good and fit well into the front openings. However, the light they put out and their true fog ability is only marginal. If you really want fog lights, they make very bright Xexon fog lights.

You could probably go to an auto store and get aftermarket fog lights installed much less. Or if you want an adventure go to H & A accesories and buy your own OEM fogs for $ 238.00 and install them yourself. I say adventure becuse even though it sounds simple, installing fog lights involves quite a bit of ingenuity and labor; there are good , detailed , easy to follow instructions.

    Fog -on :surprise:

Midnight, Thanks for the information. I will not spend that, I don't think. I would not attempt to put them on because i know it would be involved. i am in nashville and i have not seen any around here. Thanks again.

Hey there! Am starting to look at getting a new car. My current one is 1998 Honda Civic; has been a great car but need to get new one since mine is getting on a bit and has so many miles on it (135,000) miles. I was thinking of getting Honda Accord Coupe. What do you think?
  • atlantabennyatlantabenny Member Posts: 735
We had a 98 Civic and now we're driving current gen Accords (wife has the 4-cyl 4 door and I, the 6-cyl coupe), so I can relate quite a bit with your situation.

What strikes a new Civic-to-Accord driver is the latter's quietness and an overall sense of higher quality. What remains the same is the sure-footedness on the road, something that's not present in the Toyotas and Nissans I've owned regardless of size.

Since you're shopping, you're bound to compare the Accord coupe with other similar options, which I did at the time. The Accord's interior and exterior were - to me - of more sound design than the Solara's, whose more pampering ride wasn't enough. Against the G35, the Accord fit my budget and had a better interior for the price. The RX-8 was compelling because of its originality and affordability but its reliability was suspect (mostly because of the rotary engine), so I didn't go with that one.

A somewhat "grey" choice is the Acura RSX because it can be a hands-down decision for a younger person but not for a middle-ager like me.

Pre-owned options within a new Accord coupe's price range are a BMW 323/325 or 328/330ci (classic design, but road noise and overall comfort are similar to a Civic's - had a 323 for a year), or a MB CLK (old school steering and dated interior).

All told, if you're looking for a comfort/performance/reliability balance, the Accord 4 or 6 cylinder coupe wins. If performance and handling are more important, a new RSX or pre-owned 325ci fits the bill best imo.

    Hope this helps.

I've owned this car for almost a year. I bought it off of someone who couldn't afford the payments, but it seemed like it was not in the best shape. It was bought in Nov. 2002 when they first came out, but now my car is making these horrible noises. When I start the car, I hear a bunch of rattling inside the hood. My boyfriend said it was the motor, but to me, it never happened before. Then, when I put my car in drive (this is a 5-speed automatic), it makes this loud clicking noise. Also, when I make a stop, there is also another loud clicking noise. Then ride isn't as smooth as when I first got it when it had 28,000 miles on it. It now just turned 45,000 miles. Also, when I'm driving, my sunroof cover rattles. I have been trying to read the owners manual, but I can't seem to figure out when in the world is going on. If anyone knows, or has had this happen to them, PLEASE tell me so I can get my car back to normal.
  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 33,771
    Have you checked the oil??

I'm going to be blunt ... based on the comment of the loud clicking noise and your boyfriend saying "its the motor" ... sounds to me like you and your boyfriend don't know very much about cars and you are someone that NEEDS to take it to a professional mechanic and have it checked out. so just go ahead and do it before it gets worse.

Actually the boyfriend works on cars for living and the niose he heard was a
different noise that he identified as the pcv valve ticking to take unburn gases from the motor and route it back into the intake manifold. He doesnt know everything about cars but knows a fair amount and cant solve everything. He needs to ride around in my car more so he can hear some of the new noise that the car is making.

i have my windows tinted and it dosnt look that bad . My friend said that some people spraypaint the upper part of the back window. I wouldnt recommend doing that. if you want i can send you pics of my back window. to help you decide what to do
  • sleeper92sleeper92 Member Posts: 10
My friend was driving my car on the freeway and was going quite fast. I downshifted into either 1st or 3rd and really over reved the motor.(for like 2 seconds it over reved) he put the clutch in but by that time the damage was already done. I clicking noise is comming from the motor. the dealership says that the lifters need to be adjusted. they are telling me that lifter adjustment is not covered under warranty. what should i do? i am thinking about buying the service book for it and doing it myself. Also i have read from different sites that people are having problems with lifters on the accord. is this true
  • mrbill1957mrbill1957 Member Posts: 823
Normally, it takes many miles of wear before clearances increase enough for the clicking to be heard. How many miles are on the car? I would not think that over revving the motor would cause the lifters to be out of adjustment.

The only lifters I adjusted were on an older 4 cyl Accord, which was very easy to do. Hopefully they are as easy on your V6
  • sleeper92sleeper92 Member Posts: 10
    35000 miles
  • mrbill1957mrbill1957 Member Posts: 823
If you would have said <10,000 miles, then I would say "no way", but 35,000 miles, well, maybe they do just need to be adjusted. Like I mentioned before, I haven't adjusted valves on a Honda V6, just on the 4 cyl, so I don't know how hard it would be. Reaching to the back bank will be rougher then the front bank. You might check to see if a Haynes or Chiltons manual is available for a '03 Accord. Although the manuals won't be as detailed overall as a factory manual they should have detailed info on how to adjust the valves. You could also buy a Honda manual, but they will be around $75, where a Haynes will run under $20.

Good luck on what you decide

    hey guys,
quick question, i thinking about this 02 coupe ex, v6 for about 10k. car drives really great and its in amazing condition expcet it has 90k miles on it. since my budget is 10k this seems like a good deal ,so should i get it or should i get a 2000 model with around 60k miles for the same price.
    thanks

    hi,

I was wondering if you guys could tell me if this is a good deal. I got a quote for a 2005 Honda Accord Coupe LX (special edition), Automatic, 2.4l, for 19,500 out the door price. Is that the best deal or can I do better? I am planning on buying the car in the next day or two.

  • sleeper92sleeper92 Member Posts: 10
just wondering what everyones driving? and what do you have done to your car?

I have a 03 silver ex v6 6spd with nav. i have the AEM V2 cold air intake and 19 konig verdicts with some nitto 555s. I would like to lower the car but i dont want all the hassle of tire wear, and the bounce ride.
  • fsubranfsubran Member Posts: 6
Vikool, honestly, because they have both the same body style, there is really no reason to go with the one with higher milage. But you can also look at it from the angle that Hondas can go 200,000 miles with no HUGE problems. that 02 is just getting broken in! :) What I would do if I was in your position, is take the 02 to a trusted mechanic and see what he thinks. He would prob be able to see if there were any major problems that might pop up soon. Either way you are going to end up with a nice car for the money!
  • sdnsdn Member Posts: 1
When the car s cold sometines it does not want to start. Cranks fine, but acts like no fuel or flooded. Eventually I get it started and then it runs fine and starts easy until it sits overnight. What could the problem be? Fuel filter, etc.?

    Thanks, SDN
  • anonymouspostsanonymousposts Member Posts: 3,802
is slightly different than a 2000. The 02 was the "refreshed" design and had a couple of added features. I would buy the 02 because I prefer the body-style but I would also have to consider the mileage as a factor. Buy the one that looks like it was taken better care of.

I too have this problem with my 03 Accord.I have complained about this since last year and the Dealer refuses to fix this issue. Now after a year they tell me that it ia bad Cltch Master Cylinder Assy.that had some issues with and that it needs to be replaced.Honda will not cover the cost because it is and I Quote a "wear and tear item" Here's my beef with this. I purchased extended warranty when I bought the Car thinking that I would have a worry free few years out of this car.Boy! was I wrong. I'll never buy extended warranty ever again! Now they want $330.00 to fix a problem that is  a geniune issue at Honda. There is just no Honesty left in this world! They just want your Money but when it comes time for any problems they turn the other cheek! What a world we live in!

I have a 2000 Accord Coupe EXV6 with about 75,000 miles. Late last week, I started hearing a "whine" sound (the pitch varies along with the sound of the engine). It's very noticeable while idling, and it gets harder to hear on the highway when the RPM is usually above 2,000.

Any ideas as to what this could be? The car still runs fine but I'm not taking any chances. :)
