I'm pretty sure there is paperwork and a transfer fee for that warranty (maybe $50?).

Dealers are Suckers. So there's no doubt they would make some money here, but as long as I can have it transferred under my name, I'm happy.
  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 33,771
i think you pay the fee directly to Honda. But I really don't know anything for sure. Might not even be a fee. You should be able to call honda directly and get the details.

I purchased extended warranty at the time of purchase, warranty is transferable if I decide to sell car to individual and transfer my warranty for fee of $50. There is a form that I can sent in order to transfer it. :D

    Hi, tdz,

Have you asked the folks in the Honda Accord Owners: Accessories discussion? They might be able to give you some ideas.

The warranty goes with the vin#; that is correct. You don't need to worry about it being under your name. I usually sell my cars rather than trade them. I have had extended warranty on a couple as a selling point when I was ready to sell. The warranty always goes with the vehicle. I did not think you had to pay a fee; it just went with the vehicle.
  • anonymouspostsanonymousposts Member Posts: 3,802
have to contact the warranty company and transfer the remainder to the new owner. Some warranty companies will charge a transfer fee. It's best to contact the warranty provider the find out their policy on it.

Looking @ a 2002 coupe EX V6 vtec 4-spd. auto. leather with 99,000 mi. It has multiple dings into the paint/primer, but not metal. Their asking $14,800. Any idea if this is fair price; and do I need to concern myself about timing belt or tranny updates? Thanks for the help in advance!
  • anonymouspostsanonymousposts Member Posts: 3,802
The miles are above average and it has multiple dings. I would try for no more than $11,000. Is it at a dealer or private party?
  • chilly2chilly2 Member Posts: 3
It's from a Honda dealer. They also told me that they'll refinish the paint and all the scratches will be gone, with the sell. The car must have been for a sales person due to the hi mi. and many small paint dings.
  • reticentreticent Member Posts: 11
A salesman at a honda dealer told me that I don't have to transfer the warranty to my name since it doesn't matter who brings the car in for service. What he meant is, the warranty is checked against the vin# as well as the membership ID# from the warranty tag, name doesn't matter in this case. However, just to make sure his words, I went to the service department and there I've learnt I have to transfer it to my name or else I have to pay for any system failure from my pocket, which means no warranty will be counted. The transfer fee is $50. Thanks.
  • reticentreticent Member Posts: 11
Ya I guess I have to transfer it now so please let me know what's the form number. Do you know if they ask for your driver license to verify the name for warranty when you take the car to the service (just curiosity)? Thanks.
  • anonymouspostsanonymousposts Member Posts: 3,802
the previous owner has to complete the form. Contact the warranty company, I'm assuming it's HondaCare in this case) and ask them where you can get the form. If it is a Honda warranty then you should be able to get the information from the F&I department.

chilly: $14800 is too high even if they fix the dings. You could probably get it cheaper through a private owner and then in most states you wouldn't have to pay sales tax on the car.

I looked through my documents and I did not find transfer form number (I was under impression that dealer told me that when I bought the car :confuse: )
Any way, I have Custom Guard II Schedule I titled paper work and at last page X. Transfer of Service Agreement is states that in order to transfer, I would have to in writing inform warranty provider about car being sold to the new owner in 30 days and pay fee..... I guess whomever you bought your car from should help you out with that.
Sorry about form idea, dealers that what they told me

I've figured that out. "Honda Care" wants me to send them 1.the copy of the title (both side), 2.a copy of the Sale's Receipt, 3.a letter from the seller where he authorizes me to transfer it to my name, and 4.a $50 check/Money Order to "Honda Care". Thanks.

..'05 Accord EX V-6 6-speed Coupe via CarsD:

Invoice minus $1300 (I am stoked).

..test drive was obviously convincing. In comparison, my age-5 manual SE-V6 Solara came off crude; sans spirit. feel like a traitor (owned my last Supra

My 03 accord has problem with the audio display. The problem is the light went off.
and Im out of warranty. If I switch my audio the whole display twith my friend who has the warranty and then my friend take to the dealer. Do you guys think this idea works?
  • mrbill1957mrbill1957 Member Posts: 823
In theory yes, but if there is a serial number on the radio that the dealer needs to enter for warranty reasons, both you and your friend could get caught. Your not the first person to post a complaint about the light going out.

I wish I had a junk radio here to see what it would take to swap out the bulb.

Are they really going to sell you that 05 EXV6 for 600 dollars LESS than they paid the factory for it?? That would be approx. what they would lose at l300 under invoice. Some deal. Grab it quick.
  • rcc8179rcc8179 Member Posts: 131
The problem might lie with the stereo itself, not the display--at least that's the case with my '03 Accord. In my case, the stereo (which attaches to the back of the display unit) was replaced and the problem was solved. I know the display was original because there were a couple scratches on it that were still there when I got the car back.

You might try looking on ebay for a complete unit from someone who replaced their stereo with an aftermarket unit. There were a couple that sold a few months ago for around $100-150. Good luck.

Well, to be fair, just because carsdirect says they can do it, doesn't mean they can or will. EZshift is going to have to commit to buying the car, then carsdirect will contact the dealers in their network and TRY to find one who will do the deal.

I'd really like to hear if it goes through, though, as I've often thought about using carsdirect.

I'm sure there woudl be some pretty irate potential customers out there if they were posting wrong numbers. Don't they have a guarantee? Not to mention the backlash. I haven't heard of any big problems with them and it would behoove them to NOT try to present false info. They've been in business for a long time too. I'd trust Carsdirect.

    Hi everyone,

Over the weekend, I plugged something into the cigarette lighter/adapters and unfortunately for me, the metal piece got stuck inside. (When I went to pull it out, the cord broke and left the little metal piece still attached to the inside). Sorry if I'm not making sense, but I don't know how to better phrase this.

It wasn't much of a concern, cause there are multiple outlets in the car. But I noticed that the other one wasn't working anymore.

What could you recommend for me to do to help fix this?

    Thanks everyone.
  • mrbill1957mrbill1957 Member Posts: 823
You may have blown a fuse. Check the owners manual to see if the 2 outlets use the same fuse.

If the fuse is blown, leave it and take a needle nose pliers and pull out whats left of the broken plug. If the fuse is not blown for that outlet, I would remove the fuse first before you try and remove the pieces.

I am looking at buying a 2000-02 accord coupe. Are there great benifits in getting a 6 cyl over a 4 cyl?
  • blaneblane Member Posts: 2,017
    ifish,

Here's the link that details the answer to your question:

    http://automobiles.honda.com/models/specifications_descriptions.asp?ModelName=Accord+Coupe-
  • mrbill1957mrbill1957 Member Posts: 823
Besides the obvious extra horsepower, and usually a slightly smoother sound and feel of the 6 cyl, there really isn't really any advantage of a 6 over a 4.

For many people, (including me) the negatives of the 6 cyl were reasons enough to purchase the 4 cyl. Honda makes great 4 cyl and 6 cyl engines, it just costs more to purchase a 6 cyl, more in gas, and more for maintenance.

i have the same problem and its not even covered under the extended warranty. my dealer quoted me 700.. what did you do, are there any updates?
  • miamicrv1miamicrv1 Member Posts: 66
I'm going to check out Honda's 36 month lease deal on an EX coupe w leather. Honda's finance arm is offering a $1449 Cap Reduction. What I don't quite understand is....If MSRP is $25,300 and people are actually paying $23,300...is it a legitimate offer to offer $23,300 and expect to get the additional Cap Reduction of Honda's Finance arm on top of that? In another words a net cost of $21,850 not including tax, license etc.?

You might want to ask your question in the Lease Questions: Ask Here discussion. The host and members are whizzes at figuring these things out.

    Hi guys,

I purchased a '05 Accord Coupe V6 6M last December. So far the car has been great with a few minor hiccups along the way. I recently had the windows tinted on the car and the door panels were removed to allow for a better tinting job. Like I was afraid of the door panels now make noise when riding over sharp bumps in the road. The noise will drive you crazy. Is there a technique to use when reattaching the panels so that they are secured tightly? I thought about applying adhesive to the top edge of the panel then attaching it back to the door. I'm open for suggestions.
  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 33,771
well, since you "had" them tinted, I'm assuming it was done by a 3rd party... in which case I would bring it back to them and tell them to reattach the panels correctly.

    '11 GMC Sierra 1500; '98 Alfa 156 2.0TS; '08 Maser QP; '67 Coronet R/T; '13 Fiat 500c; '20 S90 T6; '22 MB Sprinter 2500 4x4 diesel; '97 Suzuki R Wagon; '96 Opel Astra; '11 Mini Cooper S

If you don't go back to the folks who put on the tint, another spot for help might be a body shop; in my opinion the smaller the better.
  • ezshift5ezshift5 Member Posts: 858
    ...regret your "aftertint" panel glitch.....

I bought a 6MT Coupe recently and would like to hear more about the 'minor hiccups' after your panel troubles are addressed.

    It's starting out to be a great car...first accurate fill-up - 27.7 MPG.

With only 500 miles, I've not dipped into the throttle too much.....but the clutch and transmission seem flawless.

    best, ez
  • dslacldslacl Member Posts: 9
I probably will speak with the folks that tinted the windows. I've had them tint windows for me in the past but they didn't have to remove the panels for the other vehicle. Before they tinted the windows I knew that the panels would have to be removed and I wasn't too thrilled about it to say the least. But, they reassured me time and time again that the panels would not rattle afterwards. Once you remove the panels you open the door for things to happen like I'm experiencing right now. Anyway, I'll let you know how things go. Just be aware if you decide to have your windows tinted what can happen.

The hiccups are very minimal but after driving Hondas for so many years I expect a lot out of their product. The first thing that I noticed shortly after buying the car was the CD player makes a whining noise as soon as it is put into use. Very annoying and really noticeable between tracks. Also, the passenger side dash speaker (at least that is where it sounds like it is coming from) likes to make a lot of fuss from time to time. Lastly, the paint! Check the corners of the headlights where they come to a point and see if the paint is starting to lift away. I'll have to load a pic or two in the future. I have since had the paint issue resolved by Honda but I did notice the same problem on another identical white '05 V6 AT Coupe shortly before I had my paint repaired. Might want to look into it on your car just to be safe. Other than that, I am very pleased with the car! I have just over 8K on now and wouldn't get rid of it for the world. Nothing out there can touch it for the money and equipment that comes standard with it.

....mine's white also. Paint at headlite corners checks out OK.

has anyone ever been in the backseat of an accord coupe? is it cramped? becuz from pics like
these, it doesnt look like theres much legroom in the back.
  • blaneblane Member Posts: 2,017
Actually, the back seat of my 2004 Accord Coupe is quite roomy. Adequate kneeroom, footroom and headroom for anyone short of six feet tall. The only concern is that it requires a bit of agility to get into and out of ANY coupe's rear seat. The Accord's is fine for most people, except those with back or age problems.

Sliding the front passenger's "memory" seat forward allows for a spacious entry. Try it, you'll like it.

..never adequately replaced Supra Turbo rear-ended 2000. 6MT has better numbers
