  • What's the MF and RV for January lease of S550 4MATIC for 36 months with 10K miles.
A dealer gave me this quote but it looks very high:

    MSRP 107885
    SELL PRICE AFTER DISCOUNT 97168
    RESIDUAL VALUE 56100
    TOTAL DUE AT SIGNING $4,250

MONTHLY PAYMENT $1,564.81. Includes All taxes, fees, and registration.

I LIVE IN CHICAGO, COOK COUNTY, ZIP CODE 60622. SO WE HAVE TO DEAL WITH 8% "USE TAX" IN ADDITION TO 9.5% SALES TAX.

PLEASE ADVICE IF THIS IS A GOOD DEAL. THANKS IN ADVANCE!!

    .00130 MF and 52% residual.

I get $1340 + tax, assuming your CAP cost is the same as your selling price. That matches up pretty well.

Is it a good deal? No idea what an S-Class sells for... but, at least they aren't marking up the money factor. If you are happy with the selling price, it's probably the best you can do. I certainly wouldn't buy an S-Class.. Even at this price, you'll come out ahead over owning it, I would think.

    SDKath,

I have seen BMW discount the 7 series significantly in the June and July months. I know MB will occasionally offer significant cash/discounts during the summer months at times. Do not be surprised if the S500 lease is higher than the BMW7 series.

59 vs 52? So in 6 month months you lose 7% not 6?

You have to look at it relative to how many months vs. percentage of MSRP you are paying..

If you get a 5% discount from MSRP and the residual is 59% for 30 months, then you are paying 36% of MSRP for 30 months, or 1.2% of MSRP per month... 6 more months at 7% of MSRP is only 1.17% per month, so it's more cost efficient. Plus your fixed costs are spread over more months.

Now, if your discount from MSRP is 15%, then you are paying 26% of MSRP for 30 months, or 0.87% per month.. That would tilt the scales towards the 30 month term.

I don't have any particulars on the MB MSD program.

My point was that if a subvented MF is used, MSDs are not allowed. Only when the standard MF is being used.

Are you suggesting dealers will give a variable amount of discount towards MSRP based on the length of the lease?
  • Just to verify that my math is right,

    $111,165 MSRP
    8.5% discount as per TrueCar
    $101,715 net
$2k out of pocket dealer fees/inceptions
    36 months
    10k miles
    .00130 money factor
    52% residual
    6% tax

    $1,512/mo

That's a sweet spot?... With discount?...

Yes... discounted. Some of the higher volume models have lower money factors. And, yes.. standard = high.

Are you suggesting dealers will give a variable amount of discount towards MSRP based on the length of the lease?

No.. not at all. Just that the "sweet spot" on a lease isn't just dependent on the residuals, but also on the level of discounting from MSRP.

Your math is correct... but, the base MF for the 2015 S550 is .00095, not .00130.
.00095 MF would drop the payment to $1453/mo.
