The standard money factor seems to fluctuate between .0018-.0020..

57% residual for 30/12

A dealer gave me this quote but it looks very high:

I get $1340 + tax, assuming your CAP cost is the same as your selling price. That matches up pretty well.

Is it a good deal? No idea what an S-Class sells for... but, at least they aren't marking up the money factor. If you are happy with the selling price, it's probably the best you can do. I certainly wouldn't buy an S-Class.. Even at this price, you'll come out ahead over owning it, I would think.

I have seen BMW discount the 7 series significantly in the June and July months. I know MB will occasionally offer significant cash/discounts during the summer months at times. Do not be surprised if the S500 lease is higher than the BMW7 series.

You have to look at it relative to how many months vs. percentage of MSRP you are paying..

If you get a 5% discount from MSRP and the residual is 59% for 30 months, then you are paying 36% of MSRP for 30 months, or 1.2% of MSRP per month... 6 more months at 7% of MSRP is only 1.17% per month, so it's more cost efficient. Plus your fixed costs are spread over more months.

Now, if your discount from MSRP is 15%, then you are paying 26% of MSRP for 30 months, or 0.87% per month.. That would tilt the scales towards the 30 month term.

I'd love to know what dealers are giving 15k off msrp. The ones here aren't close to that. I'd travel for that deal.

Yes... discounted. Some of the higher volume models have lower money factors. And, yes.. standard = high.

No.. not at all. Just that the "sweet spot" on a lease isn't just dependent on the residuals, but also on the level of discounting from MSRP.


Your math is correct... but, the base MF for the 2015 S550 is .00095, not .00130.
.00095 MF would drop the payment to $1453/mo.
