We were also able to get the 1.9% APR. Cvt...with the other dealerships that we contacted, they can't even beat 22000. If you are from northern Virginia, AVOID HENDRICK HONDA. They are the master of bait and switch.
Once again, all these fees are fake. They are nothing but dealer profit, the price divided into two parts with the intention of duping buyers to (1) visit the dealer due to a lower advertised price and (2) pay more for the vehicle.
These fake fees, as they are presented, are supposedly to cover the dealer's cost of preparing paperwork. Fact is that effort is just one more dealer cost which is, by definition, included in the selling price. Selling price is dealer cost plus dealer profit or loss. Fact is the actual cost of such effort is immaterial, certainly not hundreds of dollars.
This best way to combat these fake fees is to simply tell the dealer the price you will pay for the vehicle and that price includes all dealer "fees" but not the legitimate fees such as registration and sales tax. If the dealer balks, say thanks and walk away. A buyer rarely gets the dealer's best price until that dealer, recognizing the possibility of a real sale, believes the buyer is leaving to look elsewhere.
Always good to recognize it is the buyer, not the dealer, who controls the deal.
Cash price (incl destination) : 22500

One dealership also had a 2014 Accord Sedan EXL-Nav. Invoice (destination inclusive) is listed at $28,299. How much more of a discount can I expect to negotiate on the 2014 model assuming what I am seeing so far with the 2015 models?

CA. MD. and MA are in that over 1000 below range for 2015 Accords.
A 2014 model Accord may still be considered a new car but in reality its a 1 year old model. drive that vehicle out of the dealers lot crash and total it then you will see a depreciation value of about 3k.
On a 2014 model 3000 dollars below that years invoice price should be your final bottom line price to buy Today. Any price below that number I would pass and buy a 2015 model .
A smart shopper might be scanning dealers inventory and lots looking for a bargain on a left over 2014 model . A less desirable color will net you a very good deal right now.
Honda vehicles have great Resale value........................ better than almost all brands.

Yes it does seem that @biboy made a deal Unheard of at this time of the year. I would get @biboy's dealer contact info at his selling dealership and try for a similar deal.
here is the breakdown on @biboy deal that will help you with pricing.
..................................................................23,392.............. Invoice price w / dest charge
...............................................................- 20,727................Agreed selling price w/ dest charge included
...................................................................2665...................below dealers invoice
minus doc fee charge...............................- 585
.............................................sale price = 2080 below dealers invoice
Subtract any incentives and rebates to above number. A lot of dealers may tell you at this price I'm giving you we already added in the 500 cash incentive making it part of that better price you were quoted .

Some months you will find pricing better at A,B,C dealers . Other months X,Y, and Z might be selling cheaper. The more dealerships you get involved in the price wars the better you will do .
Always start your negotiations near the end of the month. Your target price goal is to start on the higher end of my target prices. If your not a good negotiator and can't get that higher target number. Shoot for a medium target price range. It will still be better than most buyers are getting walking into dealerships. Email or call each dealerships Internet dept. mgr. telling each dealership for x price I buy this vehicle from you TODAY holding with a credit card deposit. If your buying Out of State Make sure you get a faxed price conformation / Bill of sale from the sales manager before you give a deposit and travel x miles from your house.

What's the $500 Honda incentive on top of your 20,727 price ? College /Military rebate ?
thanks for the info, this has been helpful. I will be waiting closer to next weekend to further negotiate.
when you say to pit dealerships against each other, are you actually telling one dealership the lowest you've been offered and asking to beat it?
also, for some of the deals being listed here, unless there are some hidden incentives, it would appear that some vehicles are being sold at a loss? I usually look up the vehicle invoice (destination included) through Costco's auto program. So, in the example of the 2015 EX-L, invoice w/ destination would be at $26,817. After subtracting ~$600 for dealer holdback and then the $500 dealer cash incentive, how are dealerships making these deals?

Dealer incentives are cash or credit provided by a manufacturer to its dealers to incentivize sales of certain models or styles. Dealer eligibility varies based on dealer location, and is not based on consumer location. Dealers have the option to pass on all or a portion of incentives to consumers. Incentive and Rebate information is provided subject to the terms of our Visitor Agreement.
There is no military or college rebates right now on the 2015 model accords

The real invoice price of these vehicles are not known by the general consumer. Only the car manufacturers and dealerships know the exact price. We can only go by sites like Edmunds, KBB, CR reports and other online sources .
As you have just learned the math does not add up.
Pitting dealers means telling them....... I'm also dealing with x and y dealerships.
Scenarios that your telling dealerships on the phone / emails .
X dealership will sell me vehicle for this price. xx price gets deal done today. . your price is higher then X. Do you want to lose the sale to X dealership or Y dealership. WILL YOU MEET MY PRICE. Yes or NO I'm willing to buy for xxx price today. Joes Honda which is 60 miles away will sell me this vehicle. I am willing to travel there to get vehicle but want to offer my local dealerships the sale today.. Beat/ match Joe's offer I buy from your dealership right NOW. I called/ emailed 20 dealers the first dealer to meet my price I buy today. Do you want the sale? If YOU WONT TAKE MY MONEY ANOTHER DEALER WILL........ yes or no........ I have 16 more dealers I need to call. If you want to counter my offer I will consider it........... BUT xxx price gets deal done this minute.
My way of negotiating is just like these dealers play most buyers... For suckers. dealers love to prey on the un-educated buyer . Shame on them and good for them in the same breath. Don't let it be you. Educate yourself with pricing and do your homework 1st before you start to negotiate. Play there game. Be firm, Be in control, and make each dealership feel like if they wont take you money another Honda dealer will.
I love the art of car buying with well over 1000 vehicles purchased for family and friends over 40yrs. play by the rules they set up.
At the end of the day dealers love me or hate me. I could care less. And here is why. That 30k I'm dropping down to buy there product is my hard earned money not there's. I'm looking out for my pockets not there's.
Get the picture. Stay in control of your negotiations.

I plan on buying 2 Subaru Forrester's this month for a family member and a golf buddy . Subaru's are hard to buy cause dealers break up all there added options. Not like buying a Honda for sure. you could never find exactly what you want or are forced to spend more money. limited production makes for a hard sale with this vehicle. But to prove my above point I have exact model and pricing desired , A Target list of 12 N.J. Subaru dealers with Int/ managers Names, Numbers, there doc fee charges. On the day of my calls to buy I will be ready. My friend said next week he will check out a handful of those dealers lots for what were looking for as is my daughter in-law. My target price is taking back each dealerships high doc fee charge plus the holdback for starters. Being I have no clue what prices I could net.. I will play it by ear and negotiate a very low price then work back closer to invoice price if I'm to low. I'm figuring 800 to 1000 below dealers invoice may be tops in NJ. The fact of the matter is a Subaru Forrester will never sell for 1500 below invoice right now with no incentives or rebates for the dealers.......
Here is the best part. I will be making my calls/ buying from my home in Myrtle beach S.C.
keep you posted.

You said my target price for MD should be 1200 to 2000 below dealer's invoice but do you think that this is still possible for the end of this month or even next esp on the EX? I don't expect dealers to pay much for a trade-in but I currently have a beat up 2000 Nissan Maxima (170,000 miles), what do you think a dealer would pay for such an old, high mileage vehicle?
You mentioned that Honda presently has no rebates/offers for college grads but I see that the Honda financing site is still offering $500 for college grads and I would like to take advantage of this before I become ineligible this May; so is this info on their site incorrect/not current?
Thanks in advance for your response.

I would call the 1800 Honda corp. number to find out about the college rebate. I would also call 3 local dealerships and ask them what incentives outside of the dealer cash offered =500 ) being offered on the 2015 model.
Try to make your best deal here in the NY/ NJ area first before considering going down to MD. Use my targeted dealerships next week and start at 1000 below dealers invoice and see who comes the closest to that number.
If you need NJ dealers let me know I will post some of the better dealers with pricing.

I checked both Edmunds and Nada on Accord incentives. Seems like they pulled of the college rebate of 500. 1st week of march Honda will put out the new rebate / incentives. If you notice a lot of sites except @Edmunds posts the 500 dealer cash..... Why? If you read the fine print the cash Rebate can be applied to the sale at the dealers discretion.
NJ dealers to email / call. You will receive a better deal if your model and color are on dealers lot.

New to this forum. I am in desperate need of advice.
I just accepted this offer for a 36 month 15k miles lease - Accord EX-L V6 no nav.
MSRP: $31,500
Selling for around $27k
After taxes (NYC 8.875% + title ($75) + dealer fee + acquisition ($595) It comes out to around $28.5k
55% Residual - .00039 MF - Got it to $399 a month, and with $0 down... they only want me to pay 1st month along with dealer fee.
My calculations brought this to around $365-$380 after I calculated the numbers again upon leaving the dealership... did I do alright with $399?
Is there anything I can do now before I completely commit to this deal to bring the monthly cost down???
Thank you so much!
when it comes to timing, is there much difference in month end vs month end & quarter end to get better pricing?
you mentioned before that 2k below factory invoice is not feasible currently. if I do wait, when would you suggest to work with dealerships on pricing?
If your a good negotiator last 2 days, last day of any month start your emails and calls to dealerships. If your not good or new to this car game start your negotiations 4 days before the end of any month.
I plan on buying to Subaru Foresters. So on Feb. 27th at 6pm I will start my calls/ emails to dealerships for a sale that night or holding out till the 28th hoping I could pit 2 or 3 dealers against each other in pricing wars.

Last October I was offered Accord Sport MY'14 with $25,3xxMSRP for $20,3xx , no rebates involved.
Sport invoice with dest/ charge included = $23,392. In MA. A good deal should fall in between my target price of 1200 to 1800 below invoice after considering dealers high doc fee's into the price equation
Always work new car deals invoice down and not MSRP down.
Your 2014 deal was a end of the year deal. You wont get a price like that now on a 15 model.
Good luck

Vehicle Price: $29,240.00
Dealer Price: $25,000.00 plus tax, title, and $700.00 dealer service fee. It appears that the quote already includes destination fee because that is not explicitly mentioned like the other stuff.
So my "balance due" after everything would be $27,803.51.
I can get 1.9% financing @ 60 months through Honda.
Thank you very much everyone for your consideration.
thanks for the advice. in terms of getting the best pricing, would dealerships be more motivated/inclined to negotiate during quarter ends vs month-ends? in other words, if I can wait, would it be better to try and purchase end of march instead of this weekend?
also, I'm curious how you are coming up with what kind of price below invoice that's achievable each month. is this just based on the incentives listed on Edmunds (which I assume are also region-specific)?
one dealership recommended for me to look at pricing on truecars.com and see what prices people have gotten--do you consider the data on that website reliable/accurate?
A lot of Dealers are more motivate at the end of every month compared with the first 3 weeks. Better deals happen at the very end of the month. Dealers know who the smart shopper is and who is not. Guys like me who have bought over a thousand vehicles in 45 years will tell you ( buying at months end and on a ending sales quarter ) Usually add a few more dollars to your deal.
Have you ever heard me say Dec 30th/ 31st is like the superbowl of car buying...............( It is ) . End of the year, last quarter for all car companies.............. Unbelievable deals are made in Dec.
If time is on your side next couple of days you should be looking to make a deal at your Target price this month . You could always extending buying to next month if pricings not what you like.
True car buyers here is my take : Nice service for folks looking for a No haggle price . No negotiating is required. The price you get on Feb,1st is the price you get Feb, 31st.
My biggest problem with Truecar is - A very large percentage of there buyers are Un-educated buyers that have no clue what pricing they can really get. Its best used as a pricing guide and no more. Majority of educated buyers will tell you they can do better than a True-car price
Your target price should be based on Your Area, Incentives, The month, Your model, Dealer- holdback, your states Doc fee charges, supply and demand.
My target pricing comes from above mentioned ( some inside dealer info ) and many folks past and present who email me across the country for advice with deals they are trying to make or made.
We all help each other in here... When you complete your deal post this info .
Name of dealership, buying State, breakdown your deal and dealer experience.
