I just had 3 dealers tell me that they could not match Open Road's prices on an EX. The closest price is 25163 which includes the destination fee.
Also, take into account 2 things - Open Roads doc fee, which is $298, and the sales tax is going up by 1% on Saturday in NJ (about $265 more).
So if you are in NJ and going to buy it in next week or so, do it by tomorrow.
Financing offer is as follows:
24-36 mo = 2.9, 3.9, 4.9, 5.9% depending on credit tier
37-60 mo = 4.9, 5.9, 6.9, 7.9% depending on credit tier
By the way, I just got a quote from David McDavid in Irving, Texas on an EXL 2WD for $25712. That may not the include destination fee.
I live in NY, so I will have to pay NY Taxes.
The quote for an EX is 23864 +550 destination +298 doc fee, which comes out to 24712. Its about 450 less (about 1 months payment) than the 25163 price I'm getting.
I just don't want to drive to Open Road and find out that I am wasting my time.
What prices are other people getting for an EX?
I'm not sure where you are, but if you can save some bucks by doing it, check Reliance out. Bringing a car in from out of state isn't a big deal. You'll end up paying the same taxes (your state's percentage) either way.
We're supremely happy with both the Pilot and the folks at Reliance.
Does any one know about good lease deals?
Thanks
Towing Package, black SideSteps and Crossbars from Sussman Honda in Philly. $28,240 OTD. This bid was one of the first of MANY! bids I entertained and remained the lowest when all others hidden and pop-up costs were taken into account. Really found the dealer honest and steadfast.
Considered the Nav option but dropped it because I couldnt see getting that much use out of it to warrant the extra $2200 and I think I would find that screen annoying and blinding at night. Besides we do have roadsigns! But I would like to hear from those with Navs.
tell all
Thanks

Also I'm picking up my Pilot in Philly and need Daytime Running Lights to qualify for import into Canada. Honda US and Honda Canada seem to be blocking the installation of this kit. Must be some trade agreement.
Dealerand Service Dep't at Sussman Honda in Philly (where I am buying the Pilot) don't seem to have access to parts or procedure to install. And when I talk to Honda Dealerships back in Canada they are reluctant to do work and tell me to look outside of Honda to get work done. Any info/places I could get this done stateside? Thanks for any advice you can give out there.
And what a great helpful site this is!!!
Told me they've had customers from as far as Seattle, Las Vegas, Denver and Albequerque coming to Lake Jackson to get their Pilots and save, so is no secret it seems.
I also saw a few EX-L 4WDs on their lot for those interested from Mountain regions.
I recommend them to all posters. Get there and save + experience great customer service!
I loved the dealer, along with being honest she was very enthu and happy person to deal with.
I will be more than happy to share her name, I know forum rules would not let me put it. But I feel lucky for dealing with a dealer like her. Low prices, good respectful approach. Now each time I drive my car, I don't have to remember any mean and insulting dealer face.
Let me know if you guys want her info, I am pretty sure you will be nothing but happy. Now a days it's difficult to find someone with constant non-artificial smile on face.
Please share with us your experience with crossing the border.
Driving back to Dallas from Houston my wife, who is completely afraid of downtown traffic w/ highway interchanges, left exits and such, was able to get us through Houston without waking me up to navigate
It's not as useful for everyday driving, but being able to speak the words "find nearest gas station" and having the thing give you instant directions sure is nice.
BTW, it auto-dims at night so the display isn't distracting at all.
Sunroof

Tinted windows.
did I miss anything or get anything wrong....just going by a viusal in my head last time I saw an LX
As far as NAV as an installed option....nice not to have to plug the unit in and nice to have the big screen, but for my money, a nice Garmin works great for Navigation.....I assume most of us only need NAV maybe 20% of our driving time....asssumption on my part.

I must admit, one of the big reasons I'm considering the Pilot is the great NAV, pull a trigger on the steering wheel and say 'GO HOME' and it directs you home,,, pull the trigger and say NEAREST GAS' and there you go.
I used to live on 151st Place, which was next to 151st Street,,,, out here in seattle area, you can be going down a street and the name will change 3 times in 1/4 mile---yes, they make maps and street signs,,, enjoy.
also, with the NAV system, you can change things verbally like the A/C or radio.
I'd almost consider another trailblazer--even though it's All American and at 67k miles I'm worried about what will break next, a 3 year lease would probably be mostly trouble free,,, and the chevy is more powerful and a bit roomier,,, But, Honda just is so good with the details.
the biggest reason I've not pulled the trigger on the pilot is not being able to get diddly for trade in on my 02 chevy
-Neat installation so looks part of the suv
-As Nav is voice activated, suv has inbuild microphone (i.e. voice activation feature).
-When Nav alerts before exits(with voice command on), automatically audio volume for CD/Radio goes down and then comes back up after Nav's command finishes. I like this feature as it ensures I will not miss my exit (All nav does this, even garmin so nothing new)
Future plans (not sure if will materialize)
-------------------------------------------
-With inbuild microphone and ofcourse speakers I can anytime install bluetooth capability with just $300 investment.
After that, I will be able to sync in cellphones (upto 5 different phone profiles) and whenever call comes in, audio volume will go down and i can talk via factory installed micorphone and speakers. When i hang up phone, audio/music will be restored.
If you have taken "MDX Touring with Nav" test drive, you know what i mean. MDX with this trim comes with bluetooth capabilities.
Though i agree installation will be a challenge and need lot of knowledge/manual, it's worth a try.
the one thing I liked about the durrango was the bluetooth, phone intergation,,,,, the rest of the vehicle fell short.
I received a very competitive quote from Reliance, had a great experience with their sales team, and was planning on making a crazy drive back from Houston to Washington with a new Pilot. My quotes in the Seattle, Portland areas were in the 28.5K range for a EX-L 4WD no RES, or NAV...even with the plane ticket and gas cost I still would have saved $1000 bucks.
I ended up finding a dealership in Washington to work with and will post some info. on that next but I wanted to give kudos to Reliance and their professionalism. After canceling the deal with them I got a "glad you found a good deal close by, and thank you for thinking about doing business with us."
If you are in Texas I (even though I didn't complete the transaction) would highly recommend giving Reliance a call and see what they can do for you. No hassles and very competitive pricing.

$40.00 per month x 60 months is $2,400.00 That is a far cry from a one time charge of $50.00 to get the vehicle you want.
p.s. we inform our customers the second we know it will be a locate! No surprises here!

The best quote I got from any dealership I called or visited in WA or OR was 28.3K from Bellevue Honda. I was prepared to travel out-of-state to make the purchase but finally agreed to 27.8 + TTL (they put on wheel locks and mud flaps and included them in the price) from Renton Honda.
Deal was made over the phone, they hit my price and we drove over the mountains to purchase it. In and out in an hour, no hassles or tricks. Both the salesman and manager kept their word and treated my wife and I well. It's always nerve-racking making a 3 hour drive just on the "word" of someone you don't know but everyone held up their end of the deal and we are very happy with our purchase.
One thing I learned while shopping around, if the dealership hasn't hit its target sales mark and is receiving the full $3000 cash incentive, you won't get the good deal. Most of the dealers in WA and OR that I contacted were only getting $1500-$2000 back so the prices were all way off. I just resigned to fact that I had to pay a little more than someone on the East coast or south.
Good luck everyone. If I can help anyone in WA email me.
Thanks for any help!!!
I can't believe they would try that with as much information as there is out there!

(They are gonna be mad at me for ratting em out)
Be sure your credit is good before planning to get the good rate (I guess if you're spending 28K on a vehicle you probably have a good credit score.)
"FYI, I just got these details from a dealer about the financing offer which begins tomorrow July 14.
Financing offer is as follows:
24-36 mo = 2.9, 3.9, 4.9, 5.9% depending on credit tier
37-60 mo = 4.9, 5.9, 6.9, 7.9% depending on credit tier "

Try to read the thread starting June 2006 and you will be able to come up with the price you are looking for, for that specific vehicle in your area. Then e-mail your local dealers, get a quote from Honda dealerships that the people here at edmunds are referring and you will know what's the best price for you.
We got EXL with Navi, 4WD, on the 12th for around 28,500
Depends where you are.. few areas have good deals while few won't
All the best
Asked Phillipsburg Honda in NJ to match. They REFUSED to trust that offer and match or beat it, because the other dealer wouldn't fax or email me his quote to prove it. So I told them I was driving right by them to the other dealership and they didn't care. Was tempted to stop by with my bill of sale on the way home to prove to them that the price was real and that they blew the deal. Not worth it. Not sure why they need proof to discount the car. Either $28000 is an acceptable offer for the car or it isn't. What does it matter if there was a printed offer from someone else? Money is money. They are illogical!
Best of Luck to others. Hope this post helps.
It turns out that with of all the homework I did, other than becoming very familiar with all the options and typical dealer adds on the Pilot, the thing that helped save me money more than anything else was to have a great quote from one dealership. It was for $25712 which I have to assume was before destination of $550. The others were for $28000. I took all of those printed emails, plus a pre-approval from a credit union for 5% APR and a pre-approval from American Honda Finance which I got online.
Right away the sales rep wanted to know what price I was looking for, so I showed him the emails. He took them back to his sales manager which sent him back saying there was no way the $25712 bid was real but that he would match the $28000 bids. I responded that it was worth the money for me to drive to the other dealership to see for myself if the bid was real. The rep went back to tell his manager that, and the manager came to see me, which I was thrilled by; I had only been there about 10 minutes! Now I'm talking to the decision maker.
He asked me to give him a bid up from the $25712 + 550 for destination so he would have something to work with. Instead I asked him for his best offer. Then he began to talk about the dealer adds that had already been put on and that he would lose too much money at that price. I explained that I didn't ask for those adds and didn't want to pay for them. I would rather have had a car with nothing added or removed after delivery. This continued for another 10 minutes until we finally agreed that I would pay for the back mat and locking wheel lugs but would not pay for the visor. That made the final price $26999 before TTL.
The finance guy went very easy on me and understood that would decline everything he reviewed with me. I allowed him to make his presentation anyway. I got the 2.9% financing and was out the door. This was one of the few pleasant car buying experiences I've had! Thanks to Honda Frisco!
But now, I see that is an available dealer add on that I could still have installed.
Anyone have experience in getting this trim kit, how much it is,and if you find it worth while.
something about that wood trim defines it as a nice car
Sent an email to Paramus Honda asking if they could match Open Roads Price (23864+doc fee+destination+tax). I get a call back from the Internet manager and he said he will match it. Since I had the day off (thurs). I told him 12noon. Showed up 12noon, he has another customer and they give me this young kid. This kid did not know anything (said H.I.D lights were high illuminating driving lights). Told him I did not want to hear about the car, just wanted number. He comes back with msrp minus 1500. I just walked out.
Since I had the day off, I went to Honda of Nanuet. No one bothered to help me. I left after 15 minutes. Just to be curious I went back on Friday after work and in my suit. I probably was 5 feet past the entrance door when someone wanted to assist. I told them I was just looking and turned around and walked out.
My brother works for Middletown Honda and he is telling that there is no way that they can beat Open Roads price. The cheapest price is 25213+ 45 doc fee + tax.
I guess I'm going to have to drive to Open Road and see if the price is true.
Also regarding best price. Bid as many as you want. Pick your lowest bid. Ensure that each bid is their Out-the-Door price. Post the lowest bid. Say "beat it by $500 or no deal"
No more dickering. Don't even think of entertaining dealer add-ons. More than likely your original low bid will stand the test. Walk, drive or fly to you lowest bid and buy your Pilot. You are rewarding the best dealer and sending a message to the others. And that's what this forum does. We all benefit and prices will drop nationwide. I live on West Coast and bought a Pilot EX/L from Sussman in Philadelphia. No one beat his original bid. So I spend $200 for a cheap flight Seattle-Philly and spend a wonderful week on the road westbound, mid-summer, enjoying my EX/L purhased from an honest dealer!! :shades:
LX BASE MODEL
EX A CUT ABOVE
EX-L AN EX WITH LEATHER
EX-L RES EX WITH LEATHER AND A REAR ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM (DVD)
EX-L NAV EX WITH LEATHER AND NAVIGATION SYSTEM
THE TRIM LEVELS ARE REPEATED FOR 4WD
The Pilot is available with either the Rear entertainment system OR the Navigation system. The vehicle is not offered with BOTH from the factory and is not an available option at the Dealer level. If you want BOTH one of them would need to be "Aftermarket" (installed by a third-party vendor)
