I have been looking at 2005 Pilot EX-L's. I can pick one up from a small dealer that buys at auction for around $16.5k with DVD, sunroof and around 40k miles. My wife really likes one at a dealer that we could pick upfor around $20k. It has 23k miles and is certified. HOWever, I don't know if the certification is worth an extra $3,500. The 17k less miles certianly has a value though.
When I run a TMV analysis it seems Edmunds is providing high values. The values are more than the asking price of many dealers so I do not really trust TMV when it comes to SUV's in this market. Can anyone give me any input on this? We are thinking about buying alter today so any help is appreciated!
Thanks!
Probably could have gotten up to $500 more off (at most) if willing to do more internet quote shopping and haggling, but not with certainty. Dealer that I wanted to buy from had the exact car that I wanted and the last few hundred wasn't worth having to settle on either of those two factors.
This seems like a great price
Is the EX-L a 2WD or 4WD and in what city are you in.
Thanks

Thanks to everyone for posting their prices and shopping tales.
I was surprised that 2009 pilot costs that much of money... On the sticker price, the dealer put $45,000 for total price. and i just noticed today, the dealer put adjusted market value? (i don't know what that is) for, almost, 2grands.
Do you guys think that i had a good deal on my pilot?
it seems little pricey and i over paid..
They think 09 new design is so popular that buyers will pay premium for it. Something like when the Mazda Miata was out the first year.
4wd touring MSRP 38,395 + RES 2,000 should be around 40,395
45,000 is ridiculous
Has anyone seen or done better? Please post and let me know. Thanks.
$312.00/mo includes everything. tax fee's etc
thanks
Live in Omaha, Nebraska. (working with Acura of Omaha, ODaniel Honda, Superior Honda). I wonder if mplshondadlr can comment on current prices?

Opinions? I would appreciate any.
The dealers think the incentives will be worse (4.9% 60 months) but I would disagree with sales being down 40% or so. Then again would like to get 0.9/2.9 while it is here.
Thanks in advance!
AWD Touring Nav/Res 34,700 including dest +199 doc fee, +ttl
Remember the financing and $2000 marketing incentive ends 9/2.
Your mileage may vary. Everything over the net, picked a color with my wife on Thursday. Signed and picked up car on Fri. No big push on anything from the Finance guy either. I did pick up the 2 year full coverage to make it 5 year total coverage. the chicken in me worries about the backup camera and the RES/NAV.
If you do, tell him Andre says thanks again.
My biggest complaint with Honda is their color selections. There is an almost indiscernable difference between Sterling Gray Metallic and Nimbus Gray Metallic. Why produce 2 gray colors that close together? The white color is rather plain...toyota produces a much more luxurious white for the Highlander. The maroon color almost looks purple in some lights. I don't understand why Honda cannot provide a good bright red. Nissan has a good brown/gold color, but the closest Honda can do is the Mocha Metallic, which just looks like the same gold that they've always produced...boring. Although that opinion is based on the way the color appears on the internet, as my dealership did not have any in stock. Honda has some interesting colors for the CRV and the Odyssey, so I can't see why they couldn't have done a better job on color selections for the Pilot. I came fairly close to purchasing a Highlander (pretty good vehicle) based of color options.
i paid
32500 (OTD)
so
Price + Tax + Tag + Processing + Wheel Locks + Side Board + pin stripe = 32500
2500 down and 30000 @ 1.9 apr from Honda finance
i think it is a good deal if you go there find smitty but do final negotiations with Rahul - he is the best
Couldn't agree more about your color comments. I was hoping to get the Sterling Gray Metallic, but I would have had to wait almost a month before it came in (and the incentives might not be in effect). I went with the Billet Silver Metallic with Gray interior, which is a pretty nice combination. My friend got the Highlander in one of the two blue colors; really looks nice. I saw one of the Highlanders in the Pearl White color, but they wanted $220 more for that color!
Be very specific on what you want and have them itemize the cost of each item or option. Good luck.
If anyone hears from the dealers, please post on here.
Other quotes from the same dealership are:
EX-L for $28802 + $365 fees + TTL
EX-L RES for $30191 + $365 fees + TTL.
Is this a good deal would you say?
Since the dealership was closed ... I am now trying to find out how long these discounts will last.
LX FWD (cheapest model) MSRP - Invoice = 2585.00
Honda to dealer cash = 2500.00
Dealer Hold Back 2 to 3%
Profit on options / Dealer add-ons = 50%
I nogociated the deal mostly via email and a few phone calls then went into the dealership to pick a color and sign the paperwork. A excellent experience all in all.
I am loving the car so far. I just need to spend more time to figure out all of the bells and whistles.
After browsing around this forum for awhile, and test driving all kinds of cars, we decided on the Pilot. In the end, I can't find my perfect car/van/suv/family hauler, the Pilot IMO has the best averaged score in my mind based on my preferences/needs. We're in St. Louis, BTW.
Went in the dealer on Monday, basically insisted on the color we like (Silver with Grey leather, would've liked black leather but not possible, didn't quite like the blue leather), which they didn't have, but they said they can do a dealer transfer.
Have a 96 Camry with 130K miles as a trade-in. Camry is almost fully loaded (leather LE V6 with everything sans sunroof), we negotiate a price of $28133 for the Pilot. Altogether I thought it was a decent deal (dealer price should be: $31878 invoice + $670 dest. charge + ~$400 Premium running board invoice - $2000 incentive = 30948), which meant dealer valued my trade-in at $2815. Trade-in calculator says such a Camry should be worth $2900 if in excellent condition - I don't consider mine is, it should be between fair to good.
Got a call today, dealer managed to find the car with the color we want, so went in today and managed to get 1.9% for 3 years (last day too). Because it is a dealer transfer, car has 80 miles when we got out of the lot. The premium running boards didn't look as good as I thought, oh well...
Altogether, I think dealer only makes money on the holdback, unless Honda has other hidden incentives. Other prices posted by everyone here seems to be better; however my trade-in value makes up for the difference IMHO.
Good luck to others.
oldcamry: I think your prices are comparable to mine, so I think it's a decent deal.
