I think that's a good price i paid 35865 for the RES/NAV and i have the Dark Cherry with beige interior. They are not many because as at 2-3weeks ago they were less than 5 in New England and when i went to the Boston Car port (where most deaers store their inventory) there were only 2. They have plenty of Dark cherry with Black interior but i love the beige contrast. I also know the Black on black interior are not too many compared to the black with grey interior. I hope this helps and enjoy your shopping.

    Hello All,

I have been looking at 2005 Pilot EX-L's. I can pick one up from a small dealer that buys at auction for around $16.5k with DVD, sunroof and around 40k miles. My wife really likes one at a dealer that we could pick upfor around $20k. It has 23k miles and is certified. HOWever, I don't know if the certification is worth an extra $3,500. The 17k less miles certianly has a value though.

When I run a TMV analysis it seems Edmunds is providing high values. The values are more than the asking price of many dealers so I do not really trust TMV when it comes to SUV's in this market. Can anyone give me any input on this? We are thinking about buying alter today so any help is appreciated!

    Thanks!

Picking up an '09 AWD Touring with Nav and RES tonight. Negotiated to $35,000 purchase price with special financing offer and trade-in value right in line with wholesale values on my existing vehicle.

Probably could have gotten up to $500 more off (at most) if willing to do more internet quote shopping and haggling, but not with certainty. Dealer that I wanted to buy from had the exact car that I wanted and the last few hundred wasn't worth having to settle on either of those two factors.

Just got an offer on 2009 Pilot EX-L for 29,300. Not including TTL. Any thoughts?
  • bigdadi118bigdadi118 Member Posts: 1,207
If you factor in 17k less miles x 0.15 per mile, that is $2,550, plus the longer warranty period dealer offers, so they are close after these adjustment. I would offer 19K on the dealer one.
  • formulaveeformulavee Member Posts: 14
Thanks Bigdadi. They are asking $23.9k and I was thinking about offering $19k. The internet manager told me $20.5k was his bottom line. Im sure there has to be a bit more room to mvoe. Is $19k a fair value?

Yep, buy it if you like it and satisfied with the price and dealer you are purchasing from.

This seems like a great price
Is the EX-L a 2WD or 4WD and in what city are you in.

    Thanks

I purchased my 09 Pilot 2WD EX-L non RES in the bay area for 28388.00 so see if they can get it close to that instead. BTW it is White with blue leather interior. Love the 2 tone blue and black inside. The blue is so dark, only when the sunlight hits it right on then you see the blue tint.

What have people been getting for OTD cost for the EX FWD? I see a lot of discussion on pricing for AWD with NAV, etc., but I don't need all the bells and whistles. Also what are the current residual values and money factors on this model with 24 and 36 month leases (good credit)? Any info would help as may need to bite the bullet soon on purchase or lease. Thank you.
  • auto33botauto33bot Member Posts: 6
I received an offer of $28,700.00 OTD price for AWD EX'09. Finally i went to the dealership to check them out and knowing that i have a good credit to get the 3.9% APR. But, i was wrong sigh. When i checked my credit reports through freecreditreport.com I was on high 720's. But when the Honda run my credit they used a trans union credit report site and got a 690. So Honda said i'm only qualified for 4.9%. Is anybody knows that Honda use this site officially for running customer's credit or they will try hard to find a credit reports site that they can compare scores? Thanks.

Finally took the plunge on a 2009 Pilot Touring AWD with RES. Purchase price was $34,890 (plus $218 for license and title, but no sales tax in OR!). We had hoped to get one without RES, but my first color choice wouldn't have been available until late Sept/early Oct. Since there's no way of knowing whether the Honda financing and incentives would last that long, we got one with RES. The color is Billet Silver Metallic with Gray interior. Pretty good shopping experience with our local dealer (University Honda).

Thanks to everyone for posting their prices and shopping tales.

I purchased 2009 pilot 4wd touring with res total price for $37,000 that included trade in value, license, and tax. I traded in my 99 accord ex v6 (145,503 mi.). And i paid in cash$$
I was surprised that 2009 pilot costs that much of money... On the sticker price, the dealer put $45,000 for total price. and i just noticed today, the dealer put adjusted market value? (i don't know what that is) for, almost, 2grands.
Do you guys think that i had a good deal on my pilot?
it seems little pricey and i over paid..
  • bigdadi118bigdadi118 Member Posts: 1,207
the dealer put adjusted market value = dealer markup on top of MSRP
They think 09 new design is so popular that buyers will pay premium for it. Something like when the Mazda Miata was out the first year.

    4wd touring MSRP 38,395 + RES 2,000 should be around 40,395
    45,000 is ridiculous
  • ben_jamminben_jammin Member Posts: 15
I have negotiated a price of $33,100 plus TTL for a FWD Touring w/RES with chrome steps installed. In addition, dealer is supposed to pay the last two payments on my current pilot of $385/month. I am not sure they are planning on honoring this ultimately as they have been monkeying with me on the financing side of things. What do folks think about this deal? Good enough to put up with their antics?
  • dacc0917dacc0917 Member Posts: 21
Just be careful that they don't put those last 2 payments on your old pilot into your financing for your 09. Bring a calculator to do the math on all of your numbers.
  • bigdadi118bigdadi118 Member Posts: 1,207
You are responsible re your credit history if the dealer paid late or not even paid that last 2 months that they agreed. I experienced that I had hard time to explain to new creditor what happened with supporting documents while I applied credit later and was denied.

I have a price offer for '$30,240 for a 2WD EXL-RES. This is about $2300 below invoice. Has anyone gotten any better pricing than that. Doc fee is 399.
  • cheapchinkcheapchink Member Posts: 3
Auto33bot, I had my credit ran as well and noticed they came back with a lower score that I definitely knew wasn't that low. They explained that everyone has an auto score and a FICO score. My FICO score is what I am familiar with but they explained that my auto score was lower so when they explained it to me that way, it made sense. Either way, 4.9% is still a pretty good rate.

We have been searching throughout NJ for the best deal on the Pilot. So far we have been given For an EX-L AWD OTD price of 32,295. I want the touring AWD but prices are a little steep. So far best we found was AWD with RES for 37,000 OTD.
Has anyone seen or done better? Please post and let me know. Thanks.
  • poodog13poodog13 Member Posts: 320
Can't common on OTD pricing because I'm not familiar with your taxes, better to discuss pre-tax numbers. Best pricing available on Touring NAV / RES appears to be around $34900.
  • jeremiastanjeremiastan Member Posts: 25
Also don't know the OTD pricing without the taxes and fees. I got an offer on the car itself (definitely a 2009), Pilot 4WD EX-L for 29,363. Then got a coupon for 500 more off, but of course have to act soon. I haven't gotten that far in the process but the prices seems reasonable. Anyone else have any ideas/prices? Is this good?

Still trying to decide between MDX or Pilot, looking for best value and deal with options:

Live in Omaha, Nebraska. (working with Acura of Omaha, ODaniel Honda, Superior Honda). I wonder if mplshondadlr can comment on current prices?

    First Offers from Dealers:

    2008 VP 4x4 NEW -- 112 miles
    VIN: 5FNYF18238B047873
    $23,000

    2009 EX-L 4x4 w/RES
    VIN: 5FNYF48659B015044
    $31,000

2006 Acura MDX AWD Touring w/RES
    VIN: 2HNYD18606H509476
    50,000 miles
    $29,000 (seems WAY too high)

    2007 EX 4x4
    VIN: 2HKYF18457H512686
    22,000 miles
$23,500 (this would be our 2nd car from dealer within 1 year)

    Opinions? I would appreciate any.

The dealers think the incentives will be worse (4.9% 60 months) but I would disagree with sales being down 40% or so. Then again would like to get 0.9/2.9 while it is here.

    Thanks in advance!

ask for H.P. like the printer at Mahwah Honda, NJ

AWD Touring Nav/Res 34,700 including dest +199 doc fee, +ttl

Remember the financing and $2000 marketing incentive ends 9/2.

Your mileage may vary. Everything over the net, picked a color with my wife on Thursday. Signed and picked up car on Fri. No big push on anything from the Finance guy either. I did pick up the 2 year full coverage to make it 5 year total coverage. the chicken in me worries about the backup camera and the RES/NAV.

If you do, tell him Andre says thanks again.

Purchased my 2009 Pilot EX-L 2WD Sterling Gray Metallic for $28,413 plus $670 destination and TT&L. Amazingly easy to get that price. I had done my research through this forum and knew this is price that I eventually wanted, but figured that I'd really have to work for it. The salesman initially offered an internet quote of about $500 higher than that, but he quickly agreed to match a price that I received from a dealership in Dallas. The salesman did renege on a deal to sell me some accessories at the prices on the collegehillshonda.com website, but I'll just order directly from them. The important thing was getting the right price on the vehicle. I added some window tinting to the front windows for $65.

My biggest complaint with Honda is their color selections. There is an almost indiscernable difference between Sterling Gray Metallic and Nimbus Gray Metallic. Why produce 2 gray colors that close together? The white color is rather plain...toyota produces a much more luxurious white for the Highlander. The maroon color almost looks purple in some lights. I don't understand why Honda cannot provide a good bright red. Nissan has a good brown/gold color, but the closest Honda can do is the Mocha Metallic, which just looks like the same gold that they've always produced...boring. Although that opinion is based on the way the color appears on the internet, as my dealership did not have any in stock. Honda has some interesting colors for the CRV and the Odyssey, so I can't see why they couldn't have done a better job on color selections for the Pilot. I came fairly close to purchasing a Highlander (pretty good vehicle) based of color options.

i just bought 09 4WD EXL BLACK Pilot from Herson Honda in rockville MD - the experience was very good, this is my 3rd car from the same dealer in last 6 years. he gave me the best deal i could get in MD and VA.
    i paid
    32500 (OTD)

    so
    Price + Tax + Tag + Processing + Wheel Locks + Side Board + pin stripe = 32500
2500 down and 30000 @ 1.9 apr from Honda finance

i think it is a good deal if you go there find smitty but do final negotiations with Rahul - he is the best

Good Job! I am jealous. That is the exact color and model I want- I do not have much of a selection at my dealership. (Alabama). My color will not come in for another month. I am waiting to see what type of quote I will receive next month. Hopefully, they will still offer 29, 500. I completely agree with the color selection. I want the gray leather interior and none on the entire lot have this. Again- excellent price- enjoy!!!
  • allhartsallharts Member Posts: 3
Thank you. We negotiated a price of 32,295 OTD. I was going back tomorrow to tell them I would take the deal if they added the boards. My guess is they will come to 32,500. Then we will deal. Thanks again. :)

Just bought a FWD Touring with Nav and RES for $33,100 including destination in the Charlotte market. I got the premium side boards, optional front grille (looks much better than the original "belt buckle") and a cargo tray for a $1000 more. With TTL the total OTD price was $35,620. I might have been able to negotiate it down a couple of more bucks but I feel like I got a lot of car for the money. If you are thinking about the EX-L spend the extra money for the Touring model. Very cool to be able to run your Ipod through your Nav system and the hands free phone system is very handy and much safer than holding and dialing your cell.

Couldn't agree more about your color comments. I was hoping to get the Sterling Gray Metallic, but I would have had to wait almost a month before it came in (and the incentives might not be in effect). I went with the Billet Silver Metallic with Gray interior, which is a pretty nice combination. My friend got the Highlander in one of the two blue colors; really looks nice. I saw one of the Highlanders in the Pearl White color, but they wanted $220 more for that color!

I am also in the market for a Pilot in the Charlotte area. Can you tell me the dealership you dealt with.
  • mkepleymkepley Member Posts: 5
I got internet quotes from Crown, Hendrick, Lake Norman and Concord. Crown and Hendrick came back with the best 1st quotes but I'd test driven the car at Concord and it was the closest to my house so I gave the salesman a chance to beat the best offer which he did by $200.

Be very specific on what you want and have them itemize the cost of each item or option. Good luck.

Great info & Thanks. I live in Concord near Harrisburg & the Concord Dealership is right around the corner. This should get me in the ballpark. Thanks again! :)

Great point. My wife loves white, but she want it with the beige leather, They do not do that combination. I dont understand Honda's colors.

Does anyone know if the incentives on the new Pilot will be continued after Labor Day? They still do not have the color I want (not anything close) at both local dealerships. Also- I live on the coast and car shopping right now , with this weather, is almost impossible. Thanks in advance for any responses.
  • tdr_hondatdr_honda Member Posts: 8
Has anyone heard what will happen to the incentives for the 2009 Pilot in September? I am assuming with SUV sales down that the incentives will continue, and probably increase to $2500 or maybe even $3000.

If anyone hears from the dealers, please post on here.

    I received a quote on a EX for $25987 + $365 fees + TTL.
Other quotes from the same dealership are:
    EX-L for $28802 + $365 fees + TTL
    EX-L RES for $30191 + $365 fees + TTL.
  • jeremiastanjeremiastan Member Posts: 25
FRED: AWD/4WD. We live in Fairfax VA. I think the incentive ends this week, I also had received a coupon for 500 more off if used by 9/2. The internet rep confirmed the price last week. Of course, "You have to act soon." I'm probably not ready to buy just yet but I'm confident with the way sales are going and by how much they already discounted a 2009 EX-L AWD, I'm confident the price will hold. Might not drop much more, but I'm sure it will hold. And if it doesn't I can wait until the next deal.
  • fred25fred25 Member Posts: 92
Thanks for the response. As I stated before if you can wait a bit prices may come down a bit - it all a matter of supply and demand. I guess you just have to keep watching this board.
  • kcelliskcellis Member Posts: 18
I visited our local Honda dealer here in OH over the weekend. Was surprised to find that every '09 Pilot on the lot had a $4,000 discount "red tag" on it.
Is this a good deal would you say?

Since the dealership was closed ... I am now trying to find out how long these discounts will last.
  • bigdadi118bigdadi118 Member Posts: 1,207
Consider below that dealer still makes profit on 4000 off MSRP...

LX FWD (cheapest model) MSRP - Invoice = 2585.00
Honda to dealer cash = 2500.00
Dealer Hold Back 2 to 3%
    Profit on options / Dealer add-ons = 50%
  • leodlion8leodlion8 Member Posts: 6
Hi. Is the $28,413 + $670 OTD price? Or do you have to add tax, etc.? Thanks for your reply.
  • dbcajjdbcajj Member Posts: 1
I purchased about a 1.5 weeks ago from Renton Honda. $34,885 + $50 doc fee, sales tax and license. They threw in wheel locks.

I nogociated the deal mostly via email and a few phone calls then went into the dealership to pick a color and sign the paperwork. A excellent experience all in all.

I am loving the car so far. I just need to spend more time to figure out all of the bells and whistles.

    Hi.

After browsing around this forum for awhile, and test driving all kinds of cars, we decided on the Pilot. In the end, I can't find my perfect car/van/suv/family hauler, the Pilot IMO has the best averaged score in my mind based on my preferences/needs. We're in St. Louis, BTW.

Went in the dealer on Monday, basically insisted on the color we like (Silver with Grey leather, would've liked black leather but not possible, didn't quite like the blue leather), which they didn't have, but they said they can do a dealer transfer.

Have a 96 Camry with 130K miles as a trade-in. Camry is almost fully loaded (leather LE V6 with everything sans sunroof), we negotiate a price of $28133 for the Pilot. Altogether I thought it was a decent deal (dealer price should be: $31878 invoice + $670 dest. charge + ~$400 Premium running board invoice - $2000 incentive = 30948), which meant dealer valued my trade-in at $2815. Trade-in calculator says such a Camry should be worth $2900 if in excellent condition - I don't consider mine is, it should be between fair to good.

Got a call today, dealer managed to find the car with the color we want, so went in today and managed to get 1.9% for 3 years (last day too). Because it is a dealer transfer, car has 80 miles when we got out of the lot. The premium running boards didn't look as good as I thought, oh well...

Altogether, I think dealer only makes money on the holdback, unless Honda has other hidden incentives. Other prices posted by everyone here seems to be better; however my trade-in value makes up for the difference IMHO.

    Good luck to others.

oldcamry: I think your prices are comparable to mine, so I think it's a decent deal.

I purchased a 2009 Pilot 2WD Touring w/Nav on Friday for $31,352 + TTL. It's Sterling Gray with gray leather. I like it just as much as the 2003 Pilot EX that I sold private party.
