I purchased a FWD Touring with Nav and RES for $33,100 at the end of August. The destination charge was included in this price. Optional equipment of the front grille (looks much better), premium side boards and a cargo tray with tax, title and license got me out the door for $35,600. I purchase my car in Charlotte NC.

When you post FWD, do you mean 2WD? The 2009 Pilot either comes in 2WD or 4WD and when you post, it would be very helpful if you post either 2WD or 4WD for comparison.

Can I get an MDX tech/ ent for $38,000 with AHFC financing or without.? I kind of like the 2004-2006 MDX shape over the new shape, reason I am looking maybe at pilot or 2006 MDX?
  • scottgbwiscottgbwi Member Posts: 85
I have sent out quotes to other dealers & then knocked the price down to about 35,950 if I want to drive a bit. Locally (green bay) they wanted about 36,400 i think. I might not even go with one of these. Probably the favorite car I tried, but the $$ is still a little steep. Was hoping a cash rebate offer would come out soon, might influence my decision. Any local information you could contribute might help.

Seems like Honda is offering a $4000 incentive on all 2008 Honda Pilots (from http://www.edmunds.com/new/2008/honda/pilot/100891100/incentives.html?vdp=off&se- tzip=98007&state=WA) -- are people able a 2008 Pilot for $4000 less than the invoice price?

First off, this site was very helpful. I never considered e-mailing dealers to get prices but it was a great way to go.

I bought the 2009 Pilot EX-L 4WD dark cherry with black leather. We did not add any accessories.

    Price: $31,300.00
    Title/Reg fee: $109.00
    Ma Sales tax: $1215.00
    Doc fee: $259.00

    OTD price: $32883.00

Very easy deal, low pressure, pleasant experience. They low balled us on our trade in but easily came up to the price we wanted. We financed about half the cost because we just could not resist the cheap money 0.9% for 36 months.

We love the car. Much nicer ride than I expected. I was not really thrilled to make this purchase. It is basically a people mover for us but now that I have it I am pleasantly surprised as to how much I like it. I hope other buyers find this information helpful.

Did I get a decent deal???

You think that is some kind of snafu? What's next?... offer a $15,000 cash rebate on a new 2007 Pilot! I got excited for a minute, I didn't catch that it was a 2008 & not a 2009. I'm 50/50 which way to go, but a good rebate would push me over the edge. I can't wait much longer, any body have any good info on when to expect another cash back? Maybe based on history or current economic times....Thanks!

    Honda Vehicle Sales

The link shows how Honda has been doing. Pilot sales way up last month compared to August 2007. Sales for the year are down compared to 2007.

    Quote from article on yahoo.

The Honda Motor Co. plant in Lincoln said it would reduce production of its Pilot SUVs and Odyssey minivans by 10,000 vehicles this year. A Toyota Motor Corp. engine factory in Huntsville plans to suspend production of V-8 engines from August to November in response to plans by the Japanese automaker to reduce production of pickup trucks and SUVs.

    Looks like lower prices ahead.
  • scottgbwiscottgbwi Member Posts: 85
I almost think it would be better for prices if they would be increasing output. If there is a limited supply, then won't offer cash rebates. If there is a pile up at the dealers because they are producing too many, they are going to want to offer the rebate to move em' out. Just my guess.

    Edmunds Test Drive

You may want to think twice before you purchase a 2009 Pilot. The review wasn't horrible, but it wasn't very positive. Makes me think twice now. When I finally think I have it pegged what I want, this happens. Please try to tell me the problems the testers found aren't that big of a deal & this is still the car to buy! :)

maybe someone who has already bought one can expand on the power and braking issues. anyone?
  • rexfrexf Member Posts: 20
I am driving a 2006 Pilot AWD EX-L that I like extremely well and have had no problems with. I went to look at the 2009 Pilot. Nicer, but not that much. Then, the Edmunds road test completely put me off. They are pretty objective at Edmunds, so I respect their view. Car & Driver still has not posted a full road test. The competition is stiff in this product line. Is the 2009 Pilot the ultimate vehicle for you? You have to drive it and the competition and decide for yourself. I was very disappointed that they did not put the 3.7 litre motor in the Pilot that comes in the MDX. The braking distances are unacceptable. So, I'm not buying one. I am certain that incentives will return shortly. The reality is that this vehicle will not sell in sufficient numbers without incentives. At least not in the next 12 months.

listen everybody knows about the poor mileage. but every suv has bad mileage. and how often do you stop from 60 to 0. I never have in my 20 years of driving. As far as the horsepower goes if you do a compairason between the pilot and highlander, the pilots torque is better. isn't that what matters more? Do I still need to test drive, yes. did this article change anything about my plans to buy one in march, not at all.

    Hi..

We're in STL as well.. can you tell us which dealership you were working with as we are looking for EX 2wd and seems like our internet quotes are only running as low as $28,195 at Huey's...
  • poodog13poodog13 Member Posts: 320
Bought one in August and haven't had it on the highway yet. My wife has and didn't seem to find the power to be of any concern. Neither of us has used the cruise control.

Driving around town, primarily suburban driving, I've seen no power problems myself. I drive a Nissan Maxima, so I'm used to having a good power to weight ratio, and while it's not my sports sedan it's also not that bad.
  • fred25fred25 Member Posts: 92
I think many of you are going overboard - lets keep in mind the is ONE REVIEW.
Don't base your purchase on only one review that silly.

You should base your purchase on your test drive, and I mean test drive.
If I am spending more than 30,000 plus on a vehicle, I will be taking several test drives. I take it at different dealers and I also take it at different times of the day and conditions. At night, day, rain, and snow conditions. You will learn a great deal about how the vehicle rides, handles, and brakes. If you only base your opinion on only one review you are cheating yourself. Remember the review should be treated as a guide to help you make a correct decision for your needs, it should not be your only criteria.

Took one Sept 3, 2009 Pilot EX-L with RES. The car has plenty of power for its size. The brakes, well adequate but could be better. You see, the car is quite heavy but the assist braking does help but it's not as good as my Lexus RX300. Overall, for the price, it's a bargain. Paid $31,683 + TTL, can't complaint. My wife loves it.
  • calbears1calbears1 Member Posts: 54
Did you get a 2wd or AWD for $31,683? I think you did well regardless. What city/state did you pruchase it in.

I'm in the market and live in the Bay Area. thanks!
  • budimanbudiman Member Posts: 4
We worked with Bommarito Honda. Per the deal, I got it for $28133 with ~$3K trade in already included, so the actual price for the car was $31133. This was also with the August $2K incentive, which has disappeared (where people are hoping will reappear soon).

    Good luck.

    AWD, NY.
  • lufacalufaca Member Posts: 31
You should treat it as an unsed car. It is for all practical purposes an used car. I would offer at least 6K below dealer invoice
  • lufacalufaca Member Posts: 31
Fred, I like the price. What part of the country are you in?
  • calbears1calbears1 Member Posts: 54
Anyone know about incentives in October or November? Honda is still offering the .9% financing thru 11/3.
    thanks,
  • scottgbwiscottgbwi Member Posts: 85
.9 for a 36 month loan. That's useless for lots of people.

    Is it a good price for 2009 Pilot 2WD-Black Color-Nothing added-$31,202 including $99 document fee. :)
    Norman, Oklahoma.
I am looking at buying before the end of month, so tomorrow.
    What are my negotiating points?

  • scottgbwiscottgbwi Member Posts: 85
Why not wait until October 1st...2 days. There may be some additional incentives. No incentives are expiring by tomorrow night. Just my two cents worth.
  • bigdadi118bigdadi118 Member Posts: 1,207
I think Oct incentive, if any, won't be out around the 4th or 5th of the month. It takes a lil time to figure out Sep sales numbers.
  • mplshondadlrmplshondadlr Member Posts: 409
Incentives (if any) will be available Wednesday 10/01
  • schaannschaann Member Posts: 3
Right, good advice to wait till Wednesday to see if some more incentive come in.
I was just trying to see if i could get a better than normal deal at the end of the month.
  • dacc0917dacc0917 Member Posts: 21
In this environment you definately wait, all manufacturers cutting production, loan defaults, and slowing economy and demand. I would say $2000 incentive will certainly be back.
