Waltrip didn't want to play - wouldn't quote online - just kept sending me marketing e-mails.
Reddell's internet price quote was basically cost plus destination charge plus $700 ($1200 MSRP) for the accessories included and installed - $28,200. They were a bit low on my trade (a high-mileage 02 Mazda), but were willing to work the price a bit to get the deal. Very low pressure, honest salesman. Sales manager was great. Finance guy did his spiel on the usual add-ons (ex warranty, paint protect, insurance, etc.) but took no for an answer without pressure. They are doing a dealer trade for my vehicle and should be ready for pickup Monday or Tuesday. Also got 2.9% Honda financing.
Overall, a very positive experience. I'd recommend Reddell to anyone looking for an honest, no BS deal on a Honda. A bit out of my way (50 mile drive one way), but worth the trip.
As for Crest Honda, just say no.

I saved $1,750 under MSRP using my AAA discount and acquired a 2.9% rate. AAA saves me on accessories, service and parts. I added chrome steps and rear splash guards. It looks great.
My experience with the finance person left me very disappointed however. He got me for a protection package and the gap insurance. I don't mind the extra warranty. He caught me off guard because I was going to stick to my guns but some how I was blind sided. After a sleepless night. I did some research online and by contact relatives with other suvs. I called to make changes and he tried to give me the run around saying the papers had already been fedexed and couldn't get them back until a few days later.
I think I have 72 hours to make changes and I hope they don't reneg on our other contract features.
Do your research, you can protect you interior with several cans off scotch guard and just wax it by yourself. You can also save on gap insurance, if needed, by going through your own auto insurance agent.
Overall Classic Honda is a nice place to deal with and offer a lot of services.
$25.25 title. very friendly internet sales. maurice is the man. what a guy. i'm flying to pick it up with my daughter. and he will pick us up at the airport.
can't wait to pick it up.
I paid 29,100 + Tax + lic = 31,800 (out of dealership). Not the greatest deal if you compare Ohio, Arizona or LA dealerships (other discussions on the board). But, I am happy. Also, got 2.9% APR. I got Bridgestone tires with it. Can somebody advise if they are ok. I thought EX came with Goodyear tires.
Meant to post it as soon as I bought -- but I became busy driving around in my PILOT.
LOVE IT and my son loves the RES too.
Everything is great -- but I wish for a couple more things that I have in my Older Toyota.
So my question is for those of you getting 2.9%, is this for 60 months, and do you know if this is regional promotion, or is this just a "regular" rate?
I've got two weeks until my new EX-L is delivered, and my dealer said that if a better rate is in effect at the date of delivery that we'll get the lower rate.
Thanks!
Elliot

Thanks to the postings on this board, I found out about Mike Pruitt Honda in Akron. After a series of emails with their internet manager, I flew out there this past Saturday morning, spent an hour and a half at the dealership filling out paperwork and then took a leisurely 8-hour drive back to NY. It couldn't have been easier.
I highly recommend Pruitt. Try Airtran for cheap airfares to Akron-Canton airport. I got a one-way internet special for $70 (LaGuardia to Akron-Canton).
IMHO, the midnight blue will be replaced by something more along the lines of the indigo blue you see on Tahoe/Yukon. There's not enough differentiation currently between the black and the blue colors on the Pilot/MDX.
2nd phase:
Can anyone tell me recent experiences on what their monthly lease payment is on Pilot EX-L without nav or res?

I got the extended warranty from Curry Honda in Chicopee, MA. The $980 I paid was for the 7 yr, 75K mi one.
Have been reading the board for a few weeks and was hoping that someone in the Atlanta area could provide feedback on the specific dealers in and around the area that were willing to offer the best price / least hassle buying experience. I'm intent on an EX with leather and possibly RES.
HP123, I see that you got a great deal, could you please share which dealer you worked with?
Thanks much,
jeff
If anyone can help, thanks in advance. HP123, if you're out there and can post your deal details and dealer, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks,
jeff
Also bought 7/75000 warranty for $1,100
Being around for a while, but just registered today and want to thank the members and the host who share their experiences and tips.
If you have a deal, you should have a contract with a VIN on it somewhere that notes the specific car you have purchased and what the price is.

Wanted to thank everyone on the message board.
A lot of people on this thread have mentioned that Austin Honda dealers are really stingy on their prices, so let me relate to you my buying experience..
I took my time deciding what new vehicle to buy. I have been driving a 2002 Explorer for the last two years, and due to my lack of trust in the Explorer now that the warranty has expired (problem with the rear-end, has been replaced by Ford once already and still makes a whining sound at 60-70 mph), I decided to go back to Honda. I had a 2000 Accord before I bought the Explorer and I was missing the Honda quality.
I decided that the Pilot was the best SUV for me, but I knew that Austin was not the place to get it. After gleaning several stategies from this page, I sent an email out to several dealers in the vicinity. This included Austin, Round Rock, Killeen, San Marcos, etc. Based on another poster's experience, I also sent a quote request to Gunn Honda in San Antonio. The email basically said I wanted an EXL-RES in sagebrush or black, and I wanted to pay no more that $500 over invoice.
Almost immediately I got a message back from Gunn Honda, saying that their no-haggle price was $30,250, and they could even deliver it to me in Austin unless I had a trade-in. This was less than I expected to pay, and about $1000 over invoice. So this sounded pretty good to me. Later that day I began receiving emails from all the other dealerships. Most of these emails said that I was crazy to think that I could get it for $500 over invoice, and demand was high, blah blah. So I responded to the salesman at Gunn that the price sounded great and I would be coming down on Saturday.
The next day, Friday, I received another email from Gunn saying that they had lowered the price that morning, and the new price was $28,500! I was shocked that they would actually lower their price after I had already agreed to pay $30,250. And, $28,500 was actually under invoice, which as fas as I know is almost unheard of with Hondas. Apparently they only had one of each color I wanted, and I knew they wouldn't last long at that price.
So Saturday morning I raced down to the dealership, about 90 miles away. I took the Sage Brush Pearl model, and added side steps for another $500 or so. My cash price before TT&L was $29,089. Including TT&L I paid $31,156. The guys down at Gunn Honda were great. I'm very happy with the deal, and it was easily the best car buying experience I've had. Thanks to everyone who posted here, I owe it all to you! If anyone wants more info, just post here and I will gladly email you my salesman's name and contact info.
All the local dealers are quoting msrp or msrp-100. The kicker here - it's an out of state dealer, I'll need to ship it or fly out and drive it back. I'm leaning toward driving it myself.
There are 2 fees, $100 for documentation and $25 for temp tags.
Of course I'll need to get it inspected, registered and pay state taxes in my home state, but I'd have to do that with a local dealer anyway.
Anyone out there buy their pilot from out of state?
- fog lights
- auto dim rearview mirror
- mud flaps
- crossbars
Good deal?

I'm in Columbus, Ohio, and wonder if I can afford a $30k car. Lease estimators state $500/mo.
Thanks
$1,000 below sticker for a used EX-Res with the mentioned accessories and 7/100 warranty doesn't sound like a good deal to me at all. Not sure where you are at, but there are plenty of examples of $400-$700 over invoice deals out there for a brand new vehicle. The 7/100 warranty on a Pilot shouldn't be more than about $1,000, as I was just offered that deal by the official "Hondacares" for my 2002 S2000. DVD or not, I'm not sure I'd even pay that amount on a Pilot, since they appear to be as dependable as it gets.
I admit that I may be a bit biased against a "never titled" vehicle with 7,500 miles. The chances of my buying an S2000 with 7,500 miles at any price was exactly 0. But even with the Pilot, I'd still rather know that I broke the car in properly and take a spanking new one. If you were saving more like 10-15% vs. brand new, that would be a different story. But it appears that you are actually paying about the same or more than I could get a brand new one with about 7.5 miles on the odometer, rather than 7.5K miles. Great deal for the dealer and his wife, not you. Just my opinion, for what it's worth.
but, so far, we've got an EXL RES with a sticker of $33,360
6-CD ~$300 + install
sidesteps ~$400 + install
roofrails ~$125 + install
warranty ~$1,000
So my guesstimation puts you in the ballpark of getting about $3750 off total sticker (i figured $250 total labor). So it really is a bit more than 10% off the new price.
'11 GMC Sierra 1500; '98 Alfa 156 2.0TS; '08 Maser QP; '67 Coronet R/T; '13 Fiat 500c; '20 S90 T6; '22 MB Sprinter 2500 4x4 diesel; '97 Suzuki R Wagon; '96 Opel Astra; '11 Mini Cooper S
I don't consider the options, with the exception of maybe the CD changer, worth much. And, having owned a 1995 Maxima SE for 151k miles that didn't need a single "repair" until 8 years and 120k miles, I wouldn't spend $1,000 on a 7year/100k warranty either.
If the price were 10%-15% off the new car actual price (not MSRP), then it would be in the $26k-27.5k range and that would be worth considering. Maybe even $28k. But more than a new one?? Doesn't sound good to me.
