Yes it does include tax. It is 7%.
  • meusemanmeuseman Member Posts: 18
Ok, so according to my calculations, based on an MSRP of $33595, the dealer is quoting you a residual of 59%. At a MF of .00115 and a state sales tax rate of 7% on the monthly payment, the cap cost comes out to $31681. Now, here is my worry. According to what I have see on a different forum, the 36mo/12k residual for an 06 Pilot EX-L AWD is 61%. The 59% number I am seeing is for a 36mo/15k term.

Now as far as what your getting for a cap cost, that is pretty darn good. An MSRP of 33595 plus $746 in dealer add-ons, plus the acquistion fee of $595 for totals $34936. You are getting it for $31681. Not bad.

But that 59% residual bugs me. Call out the dealer on it. Say that you have seen the residual for the EX-L AWD 36mo/12k at 61%, why the discrepancy? They might have just written the wrong number on the worksheet. Who knows?

just got a final offer from the dealer for 2006 PILOT 4WD EX-L with Navigation.

$31,850 destination fee included (plus other fees and tax)

I am quite happy with this offer.

I really appreciate any thoughts on this offer, thanks.

Not sure where in the country you are located, I'm in MA and bought the exact same vehicle one week ago. I paid $31,750., also including destination charge, so I'd say you're right in the ballpark.

The best quote i was able to get was $32,007 + tax and fees for this particular model and i also have to wait a month. Do you guys think this is a good deal? I've been on this forum so much i thought i was able to get the car at $32,000 OTD. But the quotes i recieved were no where close to that. From what i hear from the dealers theres only like 25 Pilot in CA that are 4WD EX-L with NAV. Talk about limited production. I'm located in San Francisco. Thanks

I got the same model for $31,750. I think that is the figure you need to use to see if you're getting a good deal, as tax rates vary from state to state. I live in Taxachusetts and paid an additional $1,587.50 in state sales tax. Your figure of $32,007. is within a couple of hundred dollars. I checked local dealers here and most have between one or two to a half dozen 4WD EXL/NAV. The dealer I went to did not have one on the lot, but he went to rural NH to swap with another dealer and I took delivery three days later.
  • huskrhuskr Member Posts: 18
okay I talked to the dealer. He still quoted me the 59%. I did find it online that it is 61%. The 59% is if it has nav. I have not talked to him yet. How accurate is roadfly.com?

I got my '06 AWD EXL/NAV last Wednesday. I used the internet with four dealers and the best deal that I got was with Atamian Honda in Tewksbury, MA. I made a bid on their website of $31,750. I got a couple of emails back from them but no acceptance of my offer. I waited and they called me two days after my offer and accepted it. I went down the next morning, a Saturday, and signed a purchase and sale and left a $500. deposit. There was no high pressure for all kinds of accessories or extended warranties. All in all a very pleasant experience. They did not have one on the lot, but actually went to rural NH and brought one back. It had 118 miles on it which I deemed acceptable and I picked it up three days later. I added rear splashguards and crossbars for the roof. I would highly recommend them. I would also recommend you try Peters Honda in Nashua, NH. I would advise you stay clear of Herb Chambers Honda in Burlington MA, they would not take a deposit, but instead wanted payment in full. This would not have allowed me the day I needed to make my own financial arrangments.

Three different dealerships have given me the 59%. They said that it changed Nov.1st. October was 61%.

good board! i'm a honda/acura guy and want the exl-res AWD for my wife. i live on long island, land of the taxes, so no jokes! Honda City in Levittown lists msrp for $35,200 and the sale price $33,200. Is that quote on the high side or in the ballpark? Any help/insight would be appreciated.

    Hi,

I am also looking for the 2006 LX model. I am getting quotes of $24850(including destination) +Tax etc. Do you think it is a good price or should wait more for it to come down.

Just purchased 06 4wd exl Pilot with Nav for 32700 with 250 document fee. I also added towing package for 995. Total price 34002.47 (that is including destination, but without state taxes). I made that purchase in Roebuck Honda, AL.
SO far it is great. Navigation system is worth every penny. It reroutes the way for you if your make a wrong turn. Very fast and accurate.

Did the price you paid of $31,750 include the destination charge of $550.00?

I'm in San Francisco and I plan to pick up my car in a few days. Got the 06 PILOT 4WD EXL with navigation in silver with the price including destination fee = $31,850 plus about $320 for license, documentation and california tire fees and about $2,700 in sales tax for the the total out the door price of $34,870. The internet manager promised there will be no hidden fees once I am there to pick up the car.

I am happy with the deal. Any thoughts are appreciated.

    Thanks!
  • bogiejimbogiejim Member Posts: 51
Sounds like you got a good deal on the vehicle with destination. I thought I had it bad in MA with sales tax of $1587., you really get clobbered in CA. They are talking about some light snow here early next week, I can't wait to experience the AWD, as I have never had a vehicle equiped with it. Good Luck you're going to love the vehicle.

    Thanks for sharing the info.

What's the dealer you worked with? What were the other quotes you got?

I'm in SF bay area too and planning to buy one next month.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,

Ron36, can you tell us which dealership gave you that price. Like dennis65, I have in the SF Bay Area. I have been looking in the North Bay, but wanted to wait until November or December to buy. I came pretty close to buying a 2005 unit, but like the 2006s better. Thanks.
  • whampa65whampa65 Member Posts: 36
I just bought a Pilot EX today. I paid 28300.00 plus taxes and dmv. It sounded like a decent price. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks. It's an '06 by the way. "4WD"
  • bogiejimbogiejim Member Posts: 51
If that price includes the destination charge, you're about $85. over dealer invoice. I would say that's probably not too bad. I didn't really research pricing in my area on that particular model. Enjoy the vehicle, I'm one week in to mine and so far I'm impressed.
  • whampa65whampa65 Member Posts: 36
That does include destination charge. I'm shocked I got it for only a little over invoice.
  • whampa65whampa65 Member Posts: 36
It's going to take me some time too get used to driving something so big. It seems like a great vehicle and I live in the Northeast so I'm looking forward to seeing how it handles the snow. One thing I think they should have done on all the '06s is having the cruise and steering wheel control light up. Small thing though!!!
  • bogiejimbogiejim Member Posts: 51
I live in Northeast MA on the NH border, and I never thought I'd say this, but I'm also looking forward to the first snow to check out the handling. I have driven a Camry for the past 12 years and it is also taking a little time getting used to the size of the vehicle. I have always been one to curse an SUV or minivan in front of me on the highway, but now I enjoy being so high up off the road surface.

I have seen that the carsdirect.com price for 2006 LX Pilot is 26521, which I thought was good. I would like to know how to get the 24850 price you mentioned.

Anyone have opinions on using companies like carsdirect?

    Thanks
  • pltbyrpltbyr Member Posts: 15
I think your price is for 4WD. my price is for 2WD 2006 Pilot LX. I am in bay area and I got this price from 2 dealers using internet quote.
  • smiles2smiles2 Member Posts: 8
    was wondering the same thing?
did he pay with or without destination charge and was that the bottom line deal with everything?
  • bogiejimbogiejim Member Posts: 51
The price they accepted from me was $31,750., this included the destination charge. Other fees that I paid were "document prep" fee of $204., I then had the MA sales tax on the $31,750. which amounted to $1,587.50, and $65. to transfer my registration to the new vehicle. They will take care of all the registry work at the dealership. The bottom line for your comparison is that my sales price with "doc. prep" was $31,954. So if your price from them is $32,200., and that includes the document prep fee then your price is $246. more than I paid. I may have just gotten lucky, in that they could get their hands on one in a couple of days, that may be why they won't come down. You can make offers on other dealer websites. If you can get another dealer to give you a lower price, they may match it. I had done business with Atamian before and know they are reputable and they are only 10 minutes from my house, that is one reason, beside price, that I did business with them. Maybe if they won't come down any further, you an get them to throw in some accessory, like splash guards or cross bars for the roof. Don't be too anxious (I know this can be difficult) if they sense you are ready to walk away from the deal they may come down.
  • smiles2smiles2 Member Posts: 8
I really appreciate your time in talking to me on this..I don't plan to be anxious on this.I do want to at least pay close to what you paid. So I will be keep checking around and let you know... ;)
  • bogiejimbogiejim Member Posts: 51
Where are you located? It seemed to me that other than Atamian, Peters in Nashua, NH was willing to match pricing with other dealers. You can check their website for inventory to see if they might have one. They offered to match prices for me, but only if they had one "on the lot". When I was at Atamian, they must have had at least 25-30 Pilots on the lot, but none with NAV. Seems that this is a popular feature and people must feel if they are spending in the 30K area they might as well go for this feature. I keep a vehicle for about 10-12 years so it was worth it to me to get the NAV. I'm going to the Patriots game tomorrow, first tailgate for the new Pilot!
  • retc3retc3 Member Posts: 3
Yes, you are correct that it was 4WD and included destination charge of $550. I assume your quote does not include destination charge.

When I test drove the LX in Freehold, NJ the dealer said their invoice was in the 27's range, which seemed outrageous. I didn't even negotiate, since I knew I could do better with carsdirect (25971 + 550 dest charge) and it seemed just too high a starting value.

The only negative that might be involved in working with the carsdirect dealer which is in Edison, NJ is that the doc fee is $298. The doc fee at Freehold, NJ was $130. So they are taking a little something extra for the good price from carsdirect, I think.

If anyone has any input on the internet sales sites, please post. Thanks.

I just picked up an 05 EXL w/NAV at Boch for 28,982 plus $600 for cross bars, side steps, chrome bumpers and mirrors to total with dest was right at $29,500. This seemed liked a fair deal to me. They were very good to deal with . Steer clear of Herb Chambers in Burlington.
  • dr_chuckdr_chuck Member Posts: 4
Did you try Kay Honda in Eatontown. Their doc fee is $99. I bought a 2005 EX-L from them on 8/31 $27700 with no trade. Which seemed to be a good price according to most other posts at that time. Good luck shopping for your new Pilot!

i'm working with a dealership on long island and they suggeseted i look into 'smart buying' to keep my monthly payments down as oppossed to a straight finance. here's my situation: i am pretty confident i will be able to get the 06 exl-res for 31, 750 including destination. my trade in is 9000, leaving me a balance of 24, 712 w/tax. their finance rate is low for the first 41 months(1.9 -3%) with the balloon payment due on the 42nd payment. regulare financing is %5-%6. i asked them for the bottom line price of the truck and they kept telling me "forget about that price, what do you want your monthly payments to be?" when i informed them i want $400 or lower they said that could be possible if i put down $1500. there's no way that's happening and today i get to tell them what i want:
    31,750 for the car
    9000 for the trade
    24, 712 as a balance.
low finance for the 41 months, balloon payment on the 42nd.
    questions:
    is this a fair request?
should i push for either a lower price or a greater trade in? does a dealership benefit one way or the other from a trade in, or is the bottom line of the sale of the car all that matters? any help would be appreciated.
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,412
$24,700 financed for 60 months at 5% is only $467/mo..

I'd be really worried about them playing with the numbers.. If they are focused on the monthly payment, and tell you not to worry about the price? That is when you should start worrying...

You've got a nice big trade-in.. Just do conventional financing, and pay that loan down... You'll be a lot happier the next time you trade, because you'll have another big down payment saved up in the form of equity in your vehicle...

Most people use the balloon note programs in lieu of leasing... I don't think they are a very good alternative to conventional financing..

i totally agree! they kept steering me away from the price and concentrated on my monthly payment. help with one thing: do i have better bargaining with the trade-in or the price of the car or is it six of one, half dozen of the other? my wife better appreciate this since this is for her! thans!

By far the best deals on 06's I have found in the New England area are at Berlin City in New Hampshire.

    2006 EXL - 29699$ (including delivery) + tax (if applicable, doc fees of 129$ + license) - that's it!

    no haggle.

    $581 off invoice.

Just bought mine - they even deliver for $125.

do not think any incentives are coming on 2006's for a while...2005's left so Honda in no rush - they never are and rarely need to be.

    You can check their website.
  • laxcoachlaxcoach Member Posts: 36
does this affect commission to a salesperson:
price of car 30000 price of car 30000
trade in 10000 or trade in 11000
bottom line 20000 bottom line 19000

trying to see if dealers prefer negotiating trade-in over price of the new car. sorry if this is an obvious answer, trying to to get the best deal and my brain is fried from doing the numbers!! thanks
  • pltbyrpltbyr Member Posts: 15
My quote did include the destination charges. I think it is worth trying with different dealers in 25-30 mile radius.
  • crv77crv77 Member Posts: 12
Purchased last week for $31,898 including destination. Only additional fees were $45 doc plus tax and title. I live in SoCal area. If anyone is interested in where I purchased just email me.

Got a quote for $28300 for a 06 Pilot EXL from Staten Island Honda. Looks good, will go on friday to check it out.
Has anyone seen a lower price on this?
  • pilothondapilothonda Member Posts: 8
I don't think anyone on this forum has seen a lower price than this for an 06 4WD EXL. Please let us all know how it turns out. I would not be surprised (although I hope I'm wrong) if it turns out to be an 05, EX or a 2WD Pilot.

    Good Luck.

Can anybody share the price information about 06 Pilot around Bay Area in Northern Cal?

    I am looking for 06 4WD EX or 4WD EXL-NAV.

    Thanks.
  • whampa65whampa65 Member Posts: 36
I paid $28259 for a 06 Honda Pilot EX (4WD)and that was invoice. I find it hard to believe that you can get that for the price you were quoted because that would be about $1500 under invoice. I would call them again and make sure it's a 4WD EXL.
