Can't help you with the sales price - use the "make model year" pull downs at the top of the page to set a target.
the best offer on the table that i have is Jetta GLI SEL (AUTO), 10K/year for 36 most - $310 / mos - all in except DMV. This is including the $500 VW is offering - Dealer is telling me 28200 but is not disclosing fees - my calculation would bring this at $303/mos not $310 - therefore am I to assume about $700 in fees?

$7 x 36 is about $250 in fees.
I am sorry I should've been clearer. When I run the calculations, .00001, 59% MSRP of 31,600 negotiated to 28200 I get $288/mos. The payment he is telling me is $310 a mos which would mean a price of 28900 - $700 difference -unless my math is off. Does that sound reasonable for fees - I don't want to haggle (go crazy) over a few dollars, but was just curious.

OK, I see what you're saying now.
With your numbers, I'm showing $266/mo before tax; if your tax rate is around 8.5%, then $288 is the final number.
Ask the dealer what the net cap cost is - I'm guessing it's higher than the $28,200 we're using. If so, find out what's been added to the selling price.

Exactly - thank you so much. Yes, with Tax I come up with 288/mos - glad to see that I'm doing the math right. Thanks for all the help
I was given the following lease quote for a 2015 Jetta SE with Connectivity- 12K miles / 36 mo:
$1500 down (value of trade in car only, this is less than I was hoping I'd get for my car.. was hoping at least $2000) $275 per month, which includes the lease payment, taxes, and the Dent Guard/Road Hazard additional coverage (the additional coverage is 720 over course of lease so 20/mo, the taxes are 15.57 per mo, so we're looking at really $239.43 before tax payment). This supposedly took into account my recent college grad status, Memorial Day bonus, and 'every other incentive they had'. I feel like I would be happier with this payment if I had put 0 down instead of my much loved car! They definitely acted like they couldn't budge any lower - and this was the same salesman my boyfriend just leased a car from for a ridiculous deal. I went to them specifically so they would also give me a great deal and because we trusted them, but now I'm not so sure.
Do I need to look further into this, or was this really a great deal? MF .00001, Residual 54%. Please help! thank you

what is the MSRP and selling price?
And, get a full accounting of how the $1500 is being applied - there are a number of up front costs that are due at the beginning of a lease (first payment, acquisition fee, dealer fee, tags/license) that could eat up that $1500 pretty quickly.

I have that the 'agreed upon value of the vehicle' is $22,877.29. Add acquisition fee, dent protection and tire and wheel and it says that the gross capitalized cost is $24,322.29. The capitalized cost reduction (says this inlcudes trade in and any rebates) is 2,275. Thus the adjusted capital cost is $22,047.29.

I believe the originally posted MSRP was 23,555
I get $259.44/mo before tax with those numbers.
Thank you! That's exactly what their number was. So would you say this is a 'good' deal on the car? I can't help but feel like it should be lower.. but I guess I don't really have any basis for that

The only way to improve on this deal is to negotiate a lower selling price - use the "make / model / year" tabs at the top of the page to figure out what a good price should be.
Is it typical to pay tax on the cap cost reduction? I was quoted the below information from a dealership in Southern California. When I asked about what fees were going to be charged at inception he mentioned title, registration, first month's payment, and tax for the cap cost reduction coming to about $800. Does this information look to be correct below?
2015 VW Jetta GLI SEL MSRP: $31,635 Sale Price: $29,699 Money Factor: .00055 Residual: 58% 12k miles a year 36 months Out of pocket: $800 + down payment
$1K down would be $381/mo inc. tax $1,500 down would be $367/mo inc. tax $2,600 down would be $335/mo inc. tax

Base MF is .00001, so that is being marked up.
Yes, you pay tax on the cap cost reduction - however, we don't recommend that you make any. If the car is stolen or totaled, you lose that money.
With the base MF and your MSRP and selling price, I calculate a pre-tax payment of $315.78/mo. 9% tax takes the payment to $344.20/mo
@holden7827 Anything taxable that isn't rolled into the CAP cost is taxed upfront.. This includes the acquistion fee, doc fee and any CAP cost reduction or consumer rebate.
Actual government fees are NON-taxable. (title/registration, etc).

So I just want to make sure that .00001 is the correct money factory? I'm showing that as .02% interest. Which is only about $0.47 per month. That seems super low? Are they having some crazy rates right now?

VW is having trouble moving cars, so they are using the low MF on a number of different models (Jetta, Tiguan, Passat)

I've just stumbled across this forum and I'm hoping I can get some advice/answers.Long story short I'm about 10k upside down on my current car and about 1 year into the 7 year loan. A friend mentioned looking into the possibility of leasing a car and rolling as much of the negative equity into it. That way I'd be done in 3/4 years rather than 7 and I can start fresh. That sounds great, but I don't really know how leases work and how much (if any) negative equity can be rolled into one. Right now my local VW dealer is offering a lease on a Jetta S for 99/month with 999 down and I've read that VW has some pretty good lease incentive so I figured if anything can be done my chances are best with a VW. So I guess my main question is how much negative equity can I roll into a lease?

Thanks, Dan
I doubt you can roll $10K of negative equity into any lease.. Certainly not on a $20K car... Maybe on a $40K car..
Rolling over negative equity is usually not a quick way out of debt. Sticking it out and saving up some extra money is usually the best way. Anyone that financed the full amount on a vehicle for 7 years is going to be in a negative equity situation for awhile.. Keep the car for three more years (the length of a typical lease), then see how your negative equity situation is at that time.
Just got a a deal of 330 a month for 36 months with 540 out of pocket. That includes sales tax at 8.5%. IfII recall sale price was 28,850 a 2015 Gli SEL trim. Also this is at 12k miles per year. I think that is fair.

Looking to get into a 2015 Jetta SE with conn and Nav..what would be a good price to make a deal at? Was gonna offer 20,900 and not go any higher than 22,000 (21,500 is ideal)
12k miles per year..can put 2k down if need be. In Texas.

What kind of monthly payments am I looking at?
We would need to know the MSRP as well as the lease term in order to model a payment

Msrp - 24,890 Lease term 36/12 A tier credit - not sure if that helps
The residual value of this car fluctuates based on a percentage of the sales price or is set from Vw?
Residual is fixed by VW Credit as a percentage of MSRP.
.00001 and 54% for 36/12 on the SE. $750 lease cash.
Using a sell price of $21,500, I get a payment of $224/mo+tax. Note that in Texas you pay sales tax against the entire selling price of the car, not just the monthly payment. This will make your lease payment somewhat higher.

Ok great, thanks!
Did you factor any money down into this?
No - my calculations always assume $0 cap cost reduction - that is not the same as $0 due at lease signing, however. You have the first payment, bank fee, dealer fee and any license or tag costs due.
Hi everyone, looking to lease Jetta SE w/connectivity. This is my first time lease. Need your advice here.
From LA dealer was offered: 36 months/12k miles a year.
Sticker Price: $23580 Seling Price: $21500 MF: 0.00001 Residual: 54% at 12k miles a year (Residual Value $12,733.20) Acq. Fee: $625
Drife off: $680.89 Monthly Payment: $269.85 including CA Tax.
I think selling price is high. However, is this offer reasonable?
Thank you.
Those are the base rates.. There is a $750 lease bonus on this model, but even with that, $2100 is a pretty good discount on a VW. The advertised deal only assumes about $1250 discount, including the lease bonus.

With your numbers, I'm showing $266/mo before tax; if your tax rate is around 8.5%, then $288 is the final number.
Ask the dealer what the net cap cost is - I'm guessing it's higher than the $28,200 we're using. If so, find out what's been added to the selling price.

$1500 down (value of trade in car only, this is less than I was hoping I'd get for my car.. was hoping at least $2000)
$275 per month, which includes the lease payment, taxes, and the Dent Guard/Road Hazard additional coverage (the additional coverage is 720 over course of lease so 20/mo, the taxes are 15.57 per mo, so we're looking at really $239.43 before tax payment).
Please help! thank you
And, get a full accounting of how the $1500 is being applied - there are a number of up front costs that are due at the beginning of a lease (first payment, acquisition fee, dealer fee, tags/license) that could eat up that $1500 pretty quickly.

2015 VW Jetta GLI SEL
MSRP: $31,635
Sale Price: $29,699
Money Factor: .00055
Residual: 58%
12k miles a year
36 months
Out of pocket: $800 + down payment
$1K down would be $381/mo inc. tax
$1,500 down would be $367/mo inc. tax
$2,600 down would be $335/mo inc. tax

Thanks,
Dan
Rolling over negative equity is usually not a quick way out of debt. Sticking it out and saving up some extra money is usually the best way. Anyone that financed the full amount on a vehicle for 7 years is going to be in a negative equity situation for awhile.. Keep the car for three more years (the length of a typical lease), then see how your negative equity situation is at that time.
