So here is what I was just quoted on a 2006 330i w/ Automatic, Sport, Premium, Navigation, Heated Seats, and Satellite prep.

    Cap cost 42165
    MSRP 44945
    Residual 63%
Drive off 2000 total (1st payment, cap reduction of 368, tax 85.64, Registration 345.75, and "other" fees at 670)
36 months (not sure the mileage, but I asked for 15k/yr, so that's what I'm assuming)
Total payment per month is $530.62 (incl. tax)

He didn't give the MF, but with these numbers I get .00165 Is this where it should be for an 06 330i?

This is just the initial quote, so I think I can get the cap cost lower or maybe have them throw in the satellite radio and convenience package or something. But do the MF and Residual look right for this term of a lease? Also, does anyone know if the Xenon's can be added or do they have to come installed from the factory? Thank you for any help.
  • tcn2ktcn2k Member Posts: 277
For an 06, see if you can push them down to 500.00 bucks a month. 530 is still high in my opinion.
  • sprinkler13sprinkler13 Member Posts: 455
Yeah...I figure that I can probably get them to go right around invoice, and no cap cost money down. My big question is if those are the correct MF and residual numbers. Wondering if there is any wiggle room there. Especially since this is the end of the year and I'm sure they don't want any 06's left in 07. Thanks.

I am about to enter into this deal on a 2007 328i, nav, premium, sirius, xenons. $2,000 down, which includes first months payment, and $547 a month for 27 months. Is this a decent deal? Thank you for all your help.
  • sprinkler13sprinkler13 Member Posts: 455
mspeigs...do you have any other info on the lease? Do you know what they are selling you the car for and what the MSRP is? Do you know what the residual and money factor are? Does your $547 monthly payment include tax? Is the car auto or manual?

I received a quote for a 2007 328i w/ auto, sport, navigation, and premium for $555/month (including tax) and only 1600 down for 1st payment, registration, and fees.
  • delferdelfer Member Posts: 29
its at $499 per month for 36 months at 10,000 a year, with $3,499 Cash due at signing

    1. Can the lease deal go any lower with this same car, or are the internet-advertised offers the lowest they go?

    2. How much should I expect to pay per month if I ask for zero down?

    3. How much more should I pay per month if I ask for 15,000mi a year?

    Thanks for all your help
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,543
    1) Most advertised lease deals leave some room for a lower price... You might have to shop around to get the price down.

    2) Assuming you only make the 1st payment upfront, add about $85/mo.

    3) 15K/yr vs. 10K/yr. lowers the residual by 3%. On a $45K MSRP car, that will add about $37/mo. to the payment.

Ok, i just ordered a 335i. I'll be euro-delivering it, and leasing. The 335i came with most of what i wanted ( moonroof, xenons, logic 7, etc ) so i just added "cold weather" and montego blue. Streets are so bad around here i decided to eschew "sport." Plus the sport seats are a bit tight for me.

US MSRP on the car was a little over $40.5K and euro invoice was a 34.4K. My deal was for $900 over euro invoice. Rolled 6.5% illinois taxes into the lease, which is an unfortunate necessity here, made 6 extra security deposits ( i get those back ) and my zero-down lease figure came to $423/mo. Not a bad figure for such a wonderful car. It might be under 400 in a state with more reasonable taxation, such as new mexico, where i moved from... Oh well.

I could have probably shaved it down a bit, but i determined what i thought was a "fair" deal and smiled and made nice and they took it. I didn't want to spend a lot of time grinding, and my salesman wants to buy a 335i of his own. :)
  • bmw07bmw07 Member Posts: 2
Wow, that sounds like an excellent bargain....BTW, I assume you will be taking the delivery early next year....were you able to lock the MF from the current lease promotion on 3series, which expires 1/02/07 ?
  • tcn2ktcn2k Member Posts: 277
So I am about to lease a 335i having an MSRP price of 44695.00. Here is the breakdown:

    36 months / 12k miles

    Down: 0
    Monthly payment: 559+tax.
    MF: 0.00185
    Residual percentage 63%.

I am thinking this is a really good deal; anyone get better?
  • dhanleydhanley Member Posts: 1,531
Yes, i locked in the current rate, you do that when BMWFS approves the lease. If the rates happen to improve, i can reconfigure them down, up to a few weeks before delivery. I don't have a delivery date yet, it'll probably be late feb or early march. There's a bit of a lead time on europena delivery. I'll spend two weeks touring europe, and trying to break in the car so i can open it up on the autobahn.
  • sprinkler13sprinkler13 Member Posts: 455
The residual is right...the MF is a bit higher than I've seen. I was quoted .00165 with no security deposit. If there is a security deposit it would be .0015. And if you add additional security deposits it would keep going down. Can't give an accurate payment estimate without the cap cost of what the car is being "sold" for. Are they rolling the fees into the lease? It seems a bit high since I received an initial quote for a loaded 335i with an MSRP near 48k and the payment including tax was around 600/mo. and the drive off was 2k.

I don't have a pickup date yet. Probably late feb/early march.

I'm of the "snow tires and DSC keep you safe, not AWD" crowd. Frankly, based on the number of AWD vehicles i see off the road in bad weather, i could conclude that it's bad for icy conditions. :)

Good point. The alps may be off limits, but i don't believe it would be better with AWD and sports tires--i'll stick curves the same. I'll see how conditions are and plan accordingly.

I think I read it at the Bimmerfest forums that German government started legalized winter tire requirement, and that the BMW delivery center will comply with that. I don't remember exactly what they would do, but you may want to check it out.
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,543
Actually, I've heard that you can rent winter rims/tires from the delivery center for a reasonable cost ($150-$200 for a couple of weeks?).

I got .00185 with residual of 63% on 36 months 12k miles. Your MF of .0015 is really good; is that a 10k miles per year? How much down?
  • tcn2ktcn2k Member Posts: 277
Here is the breakdown. 36 months 12k miles. MSRP 44,695. Negotiated price of 42,695. Zero down, no due at signing. I just pay for the first month and registraction and doc fees of about 400.00. Monthly payment is 559.00 plus tax. MF was quoted to be 0.00185 with residual of 63%.
  • dhanleydhanley Member Posts: 1,531
.0015 is the standard US delivery money factor. The money factor is the same irrespective of mileage. 10K per year gives you a .65 residual, i think, that's the difference.

Hello, My name is Mike. I'm interested to buy the 335i coupe. Following is the break down of what I want. I live in Houston TX. This will be my first BMW experience. I will finance the car. I'm planning to finance for 60 months, The current rate for 60 months is 6%(considering perfect credit score). If I finance through the dealership what are the available rates? If I order it vs. buy one from the lot (if available) are there any other hidden costs to consider.

    On-Board Navigation $1,910 ($2,100)

  • dhanleydhanley Member Posts: 1,531
Well, i'm, not in southern CA, so i can't. But it is a national money factor. Some dealers may try to make extra profit by charging you more, of course.

"Actually, I've heard that you can rent winter rims/tires from the delivery center for a reasonable cost "

  • jb_shinjb_shin Member Posts: 357
I know they rent chains, but not sure about winter wheel/tire set. Bimmerfest actually posted letter from the delivery center going over possible alternatives, but sounded like picking up sports pkg car may be troublesome int he winter months.

Well, looks like I just signed my final paper. MF 0.00175 with 63 percent for 36 month 12k miles. MSRP 44,695. Zero down, zero due at signing. Payment is 550.00 plus tax. Now the long 2-3 months wait.....

Hello all. Here is what I am looking at:

2006 Used (11k miles) Certified 325I w/ Sports, Prem, Park Assist, and Xenon Lights. They asking $37,950, but not sure if that is what they are using for the below deal.

Here are the numbers they did supply me: Residual = $27,912.55 w/ a MF = .00242 - 24 month lease.

    Here is the deal:

    I am trading in a 1998 328IS w/ 62k miles, KBB says trade-in is $8,200 to $9,300 - mine falls into the $8,200 (fare) status.

I own the trade-in free and clear.

There offer: My trade-in plus $2,500 and I pay NO lease payment for 24 months. Essentially, if my trade-in was valued at $8k, plus I deposit $2,500, for a total of $10,500 / divided by 24 months = $437.50 per month.

Is this a good deal or am I correct in assuming that my trade-in of $8000.00 / 24 months = $333.00 is closer to what I should be paying on a used vehicle / Lease? Or is the Used status even applicable to a Lease, if indeed the Residual is the same whether new or used.

Is there an advantage or glaring disadvantage to Leasing a Certified Used BMW? Also, is the deal above good or should I insist on not paying the additional $2500?

"2006 Used (11k miles) Certified 325I w/ Sports, Prem, Park Assist, and Xenon Lights. They asking $37,950, but not sure if that is what they are using for the below deal."

Ummm, unless you've forgotten to mention quite a few options, this car is a total rip-off. Think about it this way, a brand new 2007 328i with Metallic Paint, PP, SP, Xenons and Park Distance Control is only $39,470. Said another way, a used 2006 325i with 11,000 miles on the clock should only fetch about $34,000 with the CPO warranty and only about $32,000 without it.

    Best Regards,
    Shipo

Well.. it is a lease deal.. and he doesn't know the actual selling price..

$437/mo. is fairly cheap to lease a 3-series on a 24 month lease, assuming his car has an actual value of $8K (which seems about right).

I would guess that leasing a new one would be considerably more expensive.. I don't see a downside to leasing a used one that will be under warranty the entire time.. I'm not even sure why they would certify it, unless the certification results in a higher residual.

Looking to complete a lease deal tonight.

    MSRP: 45700

    Residual 61%

    36 month/ 12000miles

600/month with tax, 564 without tax

At signing including the 1st payment $911 and drive away

The sum of all payments after 3 years= (600*36)+311=21911

Is this a decent deal? Please let me know

The dealer I'm working with told me this: The MF that the dealers get from BWM Financing is .0015 (I found this online somewhere, so saleslady had to admit this was correct). The dealerships then mark it up from there - I have gotten my dealer down to .0017 (started around .002), not sure if I can get them any lower but still trying.

I'm not sure if it is different for purchasing, this is for leasing.

    Hope this helps.
  • melissac1melissac1 Member Posts: 4
I am working with a dealer on a 36-month lease for a 335i with premium package, cold weather pkg, automatic trans. Here are the terms of the lease we are working out:

    MSRP = $44,595
Sales price = $42,300 (approx. $1200 over invoice)
    Trade-in value for old car = $500
    Residual = 61% or $27,202
    Money factor = .0017

We expect to drive the car around 18,000 miles per year, so have a few scenarios by which to structure this deal:

    1) Do a 15k miles per year lease with numbers above makes monthly payment = $537/month (At lease-end, we would have to pay overage for miles equaling approx. $1800 based on actually driving 18k miles per year at $.20 cents per mile)
    2) Do an 18k miles per year lease with numbers above makes monthly payment = $573/month (This is because residual value drops to 58% with more miles in contract)

    My questions are:
    1) Do these numbers seem like reasonable deals?
    2) Which scenario is the best deal? We are leaning toward #1 thinking we might be able to negotiate down some of the overage fees in 36 months if we re-lease w/ BMW
    3) Is $500 a reasonable trade-in value for a 1997 Ford Escort with 160,000 miles on it, in pretty good condition?
    4) Does it make more sense to have the trade-in used to reduce the cap cost, or is it better to have the trade-in applied to our upfront fees to reduce our cash due at signing?
    5) Here are the fees we were quoted: Do these seem reasonable??
    Security deposit = $600
    First payment = $570
    Doc fee = $50
Acquisition fee = $825 (is this negotiable??)
    Plates, title, license = $535
    Taxes = $1300
Total upfront fees = Approx. $3960

Thanks for any advice you can give me!

I would appreciate your wisdom regarding the purchase of a 2006 325i. It's been several years since I've been in the car market and could use all the help navigating the buying process. The local Infinity dealer has a 2006 325i with 8000 miles and asking $30,990. The only option on the car is auto transmission. The dealer claims the car is in excellent condition but does not have a vehicle history or carfax. I took the VIN to the local BMW dealer and found they sold the car new in June '06 and the car has not yet been in for service. I drove the car briefly but between the salesman talking, air conditioner and radio I didn't focus on the driving experience. Since $30,990 is the dealers opening "internet sales price" I assume they will go lower. Would $27 or $28,000 be a reasonable offer? If I buy the car and plan to keep it 5-6 years would it make sense to ask BMW to CPO it or buy the extended warranty? I will be trading in a 2000 Acura TL. Also, while at the BMW dealer I drove a 2006 X-3 CPO.The car was a great drive but it's out of my price range. The salesman mentioned several times that late December is a great time to buy a car and prices could really change. Anyone have any experience in buying the end of the year? Thanks.
  • tcn2ktcn2k Member Posts: 277
Your deal is very similiar to mine, but mine was only 12k and msrp of 44695. Since you are quoting at 15k per year, the monthly sounds about right. I negotiated no due at signing on mine. Your upfront fees sounds about right but you can negotiate that for upfront as well since I hate putting money down for leases.

Acquisition fee i paid on mine was 800. 600 is bmw na, 200 is part of the dealer. You can negotiate that portion. I have seen acquisition fee ranging from 600-895 from dealer to dealer.

Security deposit can be negotiated to be waived.

I am not sure why they are charging you 1300 in taxes when this is a lease; something isn't right.

As for scenerio, I would got with scnerio 2. Since you are leasing and you know how much you plan on driving; why worry when you are paying that much money to have to worry or let the car sit because you are over.
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,543
Pricing a 6-month old used car is sort of tough... The easiest thing to compare it to.. might be a similar loaner car that the BMW dealer has for sale.... though the loaners will likely have more options than just automatic.

I'll let you do that research and see if the asking price is reasonable..

That said.. If they are asking $31,000, a starting offer of $28K-$29K is certainly reasonable.. assuming you think the car is a good value at that price point.

If the car is only 6 months old, I wouldn't bother with an extended warranty... you'll be covered for 3.5 years more under the existing warranty.

Be sure to have someone check that the car hasn't been in an accident or had paint work.

The only other issue? Will you be happy with a base model car with no options?

    Hi,

I just got the lease no. from a NJ dealer - 2007 328i metallic with premium pkg, auto and heated fron seats. The msrp with destination is 38495. 27 months 10k/year lease, 74% residual, MF .00175, $2600 due at signing (includes 1st month payment and $450 ref. security deposit, bank fee and title). $418/month payment and total lease cost is $13018. Is this good. I didn't discuss any further. Xenon can be rolled over for around $10/month more

I also asked about ED and there is approx. $2250 difference in base price ($30130 vs. $32400), although I will have to wait for more than 2 months for the car.

    Thanks,
    Tyag

Visit the ED board here. There's a 5k+ difference in price from MSRP to ED invoice pricing. Dealers will try to steer you toward BMWUSA's silly ED pricing but in reality if you follow that model the dealership makes a financial killing on the deal. Most people negotiate ED invoice + 800-1200 over for dealer profit.

My e90's MSRP was over 41k. I got the car via ED for 36.2k before my BMWCCA rebate.
