In southeast Massachusetts between Providence and the Cape it's near impossible to get your hands on a 2007 CRV EX-L 2WD w/no navi. They wouldn't even order it for me, saying production was devoted to 4WD in the near future. You will have better luck for a 4WD EX-L with navi. If you want metallic blue in anything it's a four to six week wait. If you want 4WD EX-L with no navi it's also four to six weeks. My friend was first promised a week and that's moved up to five weeks. The car is still "in transit" across the midwest I've been working with several dealers for the last month. First offers coming in around a thousand under MSRP and some willingness negotiate a bit more but nothing down near invoice in the EX-L models. Barry in Dartmouth is a hardball-hardsell outfit. I've had great reports on sales and delivery from Salcucci (sp?) in Newport, RI and good ones from Silko in Raynham although they seem unable to promise anything in terms of when you will actually see your car so I advise not buying until they have what you want right in front of you at their dealership. The people I spoke to that were happy were the ones who were able to make a deal for a CRV on the lot. The rest of us are waiting. I'll report back on final price and delivery date when I get my car.

"I never had to use the 100K Hondacare extended warranty"

But is the CRV 4WD new (and unproven) technology?
  • dvu1dvu1 Member Posts: 1
The TMV as quoted on Edmunds for the 2WD LX I want is $20,0800. Is this the out-the-door price I should expect or is this just the starting point? A dealership here in South Florida quoted a out-the-door price of 22,700. Is that any good? Thanks for any help.
  • yankeefan2yankeefan2 Member Posts: 53
I don't know what else you want in it But the 2wd LX is:

    MSRP > $21,195

    Invoice > $19,656 add 2% ($393.12) it should only go for $20,049.12 + T,T,& R ;)

    Hello Wavegry,

If you go to Message # 4354 you will see what I paid at Saccucci in Middletown, RI. Your right Barry's in Dartmouth are idiot's. You should also check Majestic Honda they gave me a Quote of 2 1/2 over invoice first Quote for a 4wd. Your right 2wd are hard to get in New England. All the dealers thing we get a lot of snow here but, trust me I'm from Upstate NY and the Snow around here is nothing. I had to wait about 2 1/2 weeks for mine.

I guess if you don't have the cash around a lease might appear attractive...but with the noted high resale values cash is king here.
  • feefoefeefoe Member Posts: 36
Oh, now I get it. Supply and demand only apply to transactions involving the dealer and consumer and have no effect on transactions between the manufacturer and dealer.

Where did you get your degree in economics?

    Thanks for remaining unbiased.

My wife and I test drove a 2007 CRV in MD yesterday and noticed a 2006 on the lot (EX 4WD, Manual Transmission). Clearly, they are having a hard time getting rid of it: it is the last 2006 on the lot, it is white and dirty (though I assume it would clean up nice), and has 80+ miles on. The floor manager promised to "work up some numbers" and intimated that the price would probably be better than a new 2007 LX.

We might actually prefer the stick, so we're kind of interested, but only if we get a pretty good deal (we're not really interested in paying a hefty premium for the moonroof/CD-changer/tinted windows). Any thoughts on what a fair price might be for this car? MSRP is around 23400. Invoice should be $2000 less. We should be able to go well below invoice, no?

By the way, we are perfectly prepared to walk away from this deal. It's not like we're dying to buy a white year-old car.

Consumer reports predicts reliability based on historical reliabilities on new models. Consumer reports has listed CRV reliability as excellent. Based on the many Honda's I have owned I would tend to agree with CR. Though time will tell and that is why the extended warranties sell. That said I am very likely going to buy an extended warranty for my CRV when I get it.
  • cliffbcliffb Member Posts: 46
    Supply in Boston area:

According to 1/28 Boston Globe ad: Boch Honda has "338 CRVs available" and Herb Chambers Honda has "320 CRVs available".
Not too far from Providence area (if true).
  • yankeefan2yankeefan2 Member Posts: 53
Herb Chambers acted like Barry's when I was looking at the CR-V's. They are not moving off the Sticker price. One sales person called me for 2 straight week then when I finally went to see him he said he would only go $500 off sticker Price, but when I said I wanted a White CR-V he said I had to Pay sticker Price. Plus he wanted to charge me $800 for fog lights!!!!
  • coda72coda72 Member Posts: 13
I paid 20,900 plus tax and tags for my 06 MT in September. I would bet you would be able to get a better deal than that since it's now February and they still have an 06. Also, I'm not the best negotiator in this world. I would start the negotiations around 19,500 and go up to about 20,500 at the most.

I have just started to reserach the CRV and love the car. I was quoted $21,395 for the 4WD LX. Is this a fair price? I am north of Philadelphia, if anyone knows of a good dealer could you pass along the information?
    Thanks!
  • cliffbcliffb Member Posts: 46
    "Is $21,395 a fair price?" (4WD LX)

2 weeks ago I paid $21,350 with hitch (western Massachusetts). The car wasn't on the lot but "on its way" (they had VIN for it and indeed it arrived that weekend.
  • coda72coda72 Member Posts: 13
I don't know much about the 2007 model, so I can't tell you about the price, but I went to Martin Mainline Honda, and they weren't too bad as far as dealers go. I also checked out Sloane Honda, and I would advise anyone to keep away from that one. I bought my Toyota at a Sloane dealer, so I went to Sloane when I decided to get a CR-V, hoping to get a good deal. No such luck, and they did all the nonsense you read about on here.
  • thelacarguythelacarguy Member Posts: 3
After several weeks of searching and unsuccessful attempts to get the CR-V I wanted and at the price I felt was fair, I bought one last night.

I was looking for a Ex-L 2wd w/o Navi (Black w/Black leather) and I think it was only a half a dozen or so in the entire state of California for the exact model I was looking for. I finally got in touch with Gardena Honda here in LA and after several e-mails with Danny in the Internet department he got the CR-V that I was looking for.

My wife and I went there last night saw the car which was still in the transit protective wrap, since it had just got off the delivery truck. I bought it for $24,700+ T&L, and I was in and out within about a little over a hours time. Overall the experience was pleasant and when the 2008 Accord comes out and if my wife likes it, I will buy it there.

$21,395 sounds like a great price compared to what I've been quoted from Martin Main Line Honda and Piazza Honda in Drexel Hill (both $22,095). You said you're north of Phila. - from what dealership did you get that quote?
  • kmf1731kmf1731 Member Posts: 2
I got my price of $21,395 from Sloane Honda Internet Dept. I requested a quote online and that is what they sent.

I am purchasing a 2007 2WD EX for $998 above invoice. The purchase price including the destination fee ($595) will be $22730. No other fees will be added to the contract.

I was told that the EX-Ls are hard to find. I wanted one I would have to wait at least 6-7 weeks AND pay MSRP.

I am very excited to go back to a Honda. I am currently driving a BMW and the maintenance costs are outrageous!
  • thelacarguythelacarguy Member Posts: 3
Yeah Micki2 your right. A EX-L w/o Navi are very hard to find. I paid just a couple of hundred dollars under MSRP. But it's nice to be back to Honda, I had a Lexus RX300 for five years. Their great when they are new and low miles, but as miles starting adding up the maintenance, insurance and gas was just too much.

Hi all, My first time to the forum. I need help negotiating lease terms on a 2007 CRV. Here is what the dealer quoted me today: MSRP $28,595, 36mos, 15k, $2000 down total monthly lease incl. tax = $428. Does that seem high. I really wanted to pay in the low $300. What should I ask for to get a lower payment. I'm in Omaha, Nebraska. Thanks in advance for your help.

I plan to buy a 2007 CRV EX-L 4WD w. Navi in Silver paying cash or perhaps trading in a car of greater value (I think). I spoke with a dealer last night who led me to believe the car I wanted with the options I want and all added accessories would be a cinch to get. He didn't have in on his lot. From what I read here it seems this is not so and I would be waiting a long time. ALSO he led me to believe I could pay under 26k when all is said and done....according to you guys on here this also is not so......now I need to continue the search. This is the only car I like that can be towed 4 down behind a MH.
  • thankdogthankdog Member Posts: 14
I am also looking in and around Atlanta for a 2007 CRV EX-L 4WD w. Navi....but I'm getting higher quotes and considering traveling further South for a better deal...anyone in other areas of the South get an EX-L for under 26k? I want all the extras and they are ordering them with just a few.

Also, how long are ppl waiting for cars ordered in the South?

    TIA!

I wish I could give you an answer. I can tell you that I put $500 down on December 19 for an EX-L in red in Fort Myers. I am told that they are looking for one every day but without any luck. Arctic Blue seems to be the most available color in SW FL, I could have gotten one of those immediately at the two local dealers. OTD price I was given with all the extras I want (no NAV) is $28,859. Good Luck.
  • car20car20 Member Posts: 12
I was offered $26,800 by David Michael Honda in freehold, NJ, Silver with NAV and 4WD. I didn't have any extra's so not sure how much your's are but $26,800 is doable for sure without any extra's. Not sure if they still have the car or even where you are located..but just find all dealers that have the car by you and do all negotiating over the phone and buy from the cheapest.......don't trust that they will get you the car...as I hear no one is trading them...go to the place that has it and buy it from there.
    Good Luck..

Today's Wall Street Journal shows that the CRV spent an average of only 12 days on the lot in January. This made it the fastest selling-car in the country last month. (The average selling price - $24,706.) No wonder we're seeing the prices and wait times we're seeing.
  • thankdogthankdog Member Posts: 14
WOW! Thats is both impressive AND sad. I suppose I may not get the car I want and the price I want - might be better off keeping my little convertible after all.....
  • brianjandreaubrianjandreau Member Posts: 67
Don't be discouraged. There are still good prices to be had, especially if you appeal to a sales person's sense of ethics. I got a relatively good price by saying something to the effect of, "With the dealer holdback, I know you're paying $23857 (EXL). $1000 in profit seems fair. Would you take $24857?"

As soon as I said this, the price came down to $24837 from $26595. There are reasonable people out there.

I want to buy the 2007 EX 2WD CR-V vehicle. My research with this model shows that it is only available in Beige color. I am interested in buying White/Red/Blue color for this particular model.

Appreciate your inputs if you have found this model is White/Red/Blue color with the dealers.
  • woodywwwoodyww Member Posts: 1,806
others who say they have a few on the lot and are willing to take as high as $1400 off MSRP (this was in the worst town)

bigpapi, would you mind sharing what dealers in Boston area were offering the best prices on CRVs? (Altho I should be able to do a search of Honda dealers near Boston & figure out which dealers are in the "worst towns"). Makes sense, maybe the "worst towns" have fewer yuppies trying to get the hottest new SUV/family hauler.....
  • micki2micki2 Member Posts: 13
From my experience, there are very few CR-V 2WD EX models. I went to every. single. dealership in the St. Louis area and nobody had one and they weren't expecting any in (I know...I know...total b.s.)

I went to four dealerships. I'll summarize what I saw by model.

    LX
Green (loads of these, every dealership had at least one)

    EX
    Silver (a couple)

    EX-L
    Red (1)
    Light Blue (several)
    Dark Blue (1)
    White (1)
    Black (2)

I haven't seen the beige color (at all). If you wanted a green color, I would say come to St. Louis. :)
  • thankdogthankdog Member Posts: 14
Thanks for the encouragement! If I can only find a silver one I'd be happy to make an offer!!!! If you want green or blue come to Atlanta!

    :-)

    still looking over the weekend.....

We are patiently waiting for our 07 EX to get here. It was supposedly built today, in Japan. My questions are: Where is the plant located in Japan. Also, I am in North Carolina; where are Honda's ports of entry? They say that the CR-V should be at the dealership by mid-March. Thanks in advance!
  • hboduhbodu Member Posts: 7
The port of entry is Portland, OR. The vehicle would leave Japan within the next week or so, and you are looking at 3-4 weeks total travel time (8 days to port, 12-20 days raila dn truck).

I'm from the Milwaukee area and about a week and a half ago, all the dealerships in the area received about 10 EXs a piece. There are probably about 100 EXs in the Milwaukee area with the different trims. EX, EX-L and EX-L with nav. Of course, I'm looking for a LX AWD and there are exactly zero in the Milwaukee area right now. We did test drive an EX today since it handles the same as an LX and the dealership said they would be getting three LXs in the color(glacier blue or silver) we want in two weeks. If it was like the EXs, all the dealerships will be getting LXs in two weeks. This makes since because the autoshow is coming to town and Honda is probably saturating areas where the autoshow is in town.

    Hi
My dealer sent me a VIN number and told me that it is "being" produced and he will update me when it leaves Japan and then when the ship arrives here in the US. My question is how did you know that your CRV was "built" today?
    thanks.

    Hi All,

I just wanted to post my experience and thank everyone for their great advice. This forum really helped.

I started last Sunday and sent out a RFQ to 20 + dealers via email in the DC area for a 2007 CR-V EX-L 4WD w. Navi in Glacier Blue.I received quotes from about half the dealers within 2 days.I received quotes (incl. destination and processing) as high as $30,195. I finally narrowed it down to two dealerships, $27,100 Pohanka -Salsbury, MD and Criswell - $27,200 Germantown, MD.

Salsbury, MD is about 2.5 hours from DC. Germantown is 30 min from my place.I did not relish the idea of spending an entire day picking up the car so I decided on the $27,200 from Criswell however they said I would have to wait 2 weeks for delivery which was not a big deal for me. The Salsbury , MD folks accepted my decision initially, but then called me up 30 min. later and decided to sweeten the deal to convice me otherwise. They would drop the Honda which they had in stock to my door (150 miles away) via flatbed truck plus throw in all season mats and front mud guards and lower the price to 26,950. I took their deal.

I got the 2007 CR-V EX-L 4WD w. Navi delivered to my front door with the all season floor mats, front mud guards and a great price of $26,950 on Friday. That's what I call great customer service.

I would highly recommend Pohanka in Salisbury, MD. Very honest dealership and they went the extra mile for me.

Folks, there are good deals to be had.

    :shades:

The dealership manager is an acquaintance of ours. This is the 4th car that we have purchased from him. They logged into a computer that showed them build dates, colors available, plus let him preference an unsold Glacier Blue EX. He / they showed one with a build date of 2/10/07; then my friend gave us an eta of March 17.
  • isellhondasisellhondas Member Posts: 20,342
    Why is that sad?

Honda hit another home run with the new CRV.

No real reason to cheap sell such a great car.
  • wavegrlwavegrl Member Posts: 27
Today I went to Silko Honda in Raynham, Ma to pick up my new CRV. I went home empty-handed. Three weeks ago my husband and I negotiated an offer for an EX-L 2WD, they assured us they could get us the car in about 2wks. Now I had been reading this forum so I knew that was unlikely. Just as we were finishing paperwork for an offer of 24326 OTD and put down a down payment, the sales manager Rodney walked in and asked if we would consider an EX-L AWD for an additional 900 dollars, we countered at 600 and then said our OTD price was 25000 (this included 1500 on our trade-in and gave him 700 extra for the upgrade to the AWD) He said okay and he would call us when he had the car. Did we get that last part in writing? No we did not. Dumb, I know. 3 wks went by and we got a call to come in and pick up our car. We arrived today with cashier's check in hand and our van all cleaned up. We were met by the "fleet manager" TJ who told us he had to have 25750 for the car before we even got into our chairs. We asked why he couldn't honor the 25000 deal from three weeks ago and he said our trade-in was really only worth about half what they had offered before because we had put 1300 miles on it in the last month and the check engine light was on. This check engine light has been on for the three years we owned this car and we have been assured by our mechanic that it is a wiring problem to the check engine light. Also, TJ stated his "costs had gone up on the car in the last three weeks" He couldn't tell us what those costs were and why it was our responsibility to carry them for him. He said Rodney had not seen the check engine light when he was pricing the trade-in. That's a lie. Anyway, he didn't want to sell us the car for anything less than what he wanted. So we put our cashier's check back in our folder and walked out. So the lessons I learned from all of you are burned in my brain. Don't buy a car that's not on the lot. Get everything in writing, don't leave deposits unless you have to and make them small and put them on a cc. Don't make multiple trips. I'd also look the dealer right in the eye and say if you jack up the price due to your incurred costs between now and when I pick up my car you can stuff it. So now I have to start all over again. At least the van is really clean.
  • hopdevilhopdevil Member Posts: 7
Thanks for sharing, wavegrl. It's easy to get caught up in the excitement of buying a new car. Sometimes it clouds judgement or leads you to assume certain things. This story is just another confirmation of the warnings I've been reading about here the last few weeks.
  • thankdogthankdog Member Posts: 14
to 'isellhondas' - I suppose since you sell Hondas you must not understand the 'sad' part I was referring to was that even if I have cash in hand I could be sad b/c i cannot purchase the car i want...not sad for Honda. DOH! Most people here are coming at this from the other side than those who sell the cars.

Dude, don't be a downer. I am just here like everyone else to get help and answer questions. You misunderstood me I suppose....

Now, if you happen to have a loaded 07 EX-L in Silver - speak up! :)
  • isellhondasisellhondas Member Posts: 20,342
    Maybe I did misunderstand you?

The EXL's have been the most sought after models and I think Honda may not have been ready for the demand. We are the largest volume dealer in nine states and we do NOT have a silver EXL on the lot. We have several in transit but I would guess they have probably been all pre sold.

It's frustrating for both sides, believe me!
  • isellhondasisellhondas Member Posts: 20,342
I hate stories like this. You need to find a different dealer.

I am surprised that living in MA, you would even think about a 2WD? The resale on one of these down the road will suffer.

You can certainly buy a car that is not on the lot from a decent dealer. Ask someone you know for a referral.
  • brianjandreaubrianjandreau Member Posts: 67
I agree. The dealer I purchased from stuck to his word. We went in a few weeks earlier, made a $500 deposit, and signed to a figure for the car and for the trade. When we returned 2.5 weeks later, the numbers were the same we agreed to. Find a new dealer!
  • drive62drive62 Member Posts: 637

And don't try to trade in a vehicle with a check engine light lit. That would be like trying to sell a house with a broken furnace.
  • wavegrlwavegrl Member Posts: 27
Hey thanks drive62, your visual made me laugh since we are architects as well. We should have known better. Anyway, we're going to pull the van out of the deal and just keep looking. We'll try some other dealers. I'll let you all know what happens. I did speak to someone from Boch Honda on Rte 128 and she did say that Honda socked dealers with "a couple hundred dollar price increase on Jan. 3rd and they expected dealers to pass that on to their customers" She said they were the biggest dealer in the area and they were selling their CRVs at MSRP or over because demand is so hot. Hmmmm.
  • wavegrlwavegrl Member Posts: 27
isellhondas I am going to take your advice! Regarding 2WD vs AWD, I live in a part of MA down near Cape Cod where we get very little winter precipitation. We're a little warmer than the rest of the state because of Buzzards Bay. Most of the snow passes over us and dumps on our poor friends in Worcester, Taunton and the North Shore. If I lived in those areas you can bet I'd buy AWD. Of course, it's all moot now because there are no EX-L 2WDs :D to be had in my area, and there is the resale value to consider later.
