I went to Acura to check out the ilx...nice looking car but he wouldn't move on the numbers saying that the lease program is through Acura so.there isnt much much room to move This was the ilx base with 0 down and $300 a month.

The special this month is a 39 month lease.

.00051 MF and residuals of 52%-56%, depending on trim level... 15K/yr.

is this a good deal?

I'm trying to figure out what real options I'll have at the end of the lease. I checked a TL 2015 vs 2012 and that ratio is 55%. So my trade in option is $0 but my purchase option has 2%xMSRP dollars.

I see a few posts about money factor and residual %'s but wanted to know what negotiated price I should shoot for on a 2016 ILX in Upstate NY??? Looks like the MSRP is $28,820 base model.

You can use the pricing tools at the top of the page (make / model / year) to help establish a target selling price.

I visited one of the local dealerships today and got the following quote.

2016 Acura ILX Premium and A-SPEC
36 months/12k
MSRP: $32,810
Doc Fee: $230
Tax: 6%
Cap Cost: $30,240
Money Factor: 0.00051
RV: 0.54
Down Payment: $0
$413 per month

If I do the calculation myself I get $394.32.
Can anybody guess why there is $20 difference? Also, what do you think about this deal (good or bad)?

I confirm the MF of .00051 and residual of 54%.

With your MSRP and cap cost, I get a payment with tax of $394.65 - much closer to your calculations than the dealers.

Confirm with them the net cap cost .. might be adding a fee in there of about $700 or so that accounts for the difference.

If RV and MF for 36 and 39 months are the same then no body would care about 36month lease.

Residual values on the ILX for 39 months are 2% lower than for 36 months.

And, I would disagree that if they were the same, that nobody would get a 36 month lease. You would still be responsible for the tags/license for that last 3 month period - depending on where you live, that could be expensive.

Will check with the dealer thanks.  Just to clarify...  I believe that the difference in our calculated cap costs is due to the fact that I did not include the vehicle sales tax, as I was under the impression that in California you only pay sales tax on your lease payment, rather than the msrp of the vehicle.  Is that not true? That's true... in CA, you pay tax on the payment. Of course, any money paid upfront is taxed upfront (cap cost reductions, rebates, etc).

According to the dealer, the residual for the ILX with tech plus is 55%, and not 57% as was mentioned here. That would seem to explain most of the difference in cost. Can you confirm this residual?

Tech Plus 36mo, 10K/yr residual is 57%.

Tech Plus A-Spec residual is 55%

Cars that have big incentives from the factory should be selling cheap from the dealer, as well.

I got a question in here, Does Acura calculate Residual Value of the car by multiplying base MSRP in RV% or multiplying base MSRP+Packages+Destination fee in RV% ?

For example, assuming ILX base is $30K, Premium Package add $1K and Destination Fee add $0.5K. Do they multiply RV% by $31.5K or $31K or $30K ?

Residual value is based on the bottom line number of the window sticker - base + options or packages + destination.

If you don't ask, you don't get. Dealer may be willing to deal at that number. ILX's haven't been too popular, hence the lease cash. You should be able to negotiate a price close to invoice before the lease cash is applied.
