I think that's too expensive to still have to deal with a $100 deductible per visit.
Cars have had electronics for years.
  • mileshoovermileshoover Member Posts: 122
No, UConnect is not like OnStar in that respect. I'm not aware of any GPS tracking available for such purposes.
  • 307web307web Member Posts: 1,033
I have never heard of a basic factory warranty having a deductible. Is that for just for the powertrain coverage part that starts after 36,000 miles?
I would hope you at least get the first 3/36 with no deductible or it would be the worst warranty ever.
Having to pay the first $100 for every repair will add up if you end up with dozens of small repairs over the years.
Ford offers extended warranties with varying deductibles all the way to no deductible.
  • emaleemale Member Posts: 1,380
the $100 deductible doesn't kick in until after 36 months or 36k miles whichever comes first...

I ordered the Blue. I think it looks great. I had a black car before and wanted something different. The local dealer has a blue and it looks great, doesn't have all of the options I ordered so I'll just have to wait. The wait is killing me!. Ordered on 4/21 so hopefully sometime in June I'll be sportin' it around town.
  • bigelmbigelm Member Posts: 995
So, you're telling me that the ext. warranty is bought upon purchasing the vehicle but doesn't go into effect until manuf. warranty expires... that sounds about right though there are some who are purchasing the ext. warranty and it runs in conjunction with the manuf. warranty, which I find a waste of money.

But with all the competition out there, why not wait until shortly before manuf. warranty expires to then purchase the ext. warranty?
  • dkrhardydkrhardy Member Posts: 134
Yep, the basic 3/36 is not deductible, but when the remainder of the 7/70 powertrain is used, then there is a $100 deductible for each and every time it is used. The warranty I bought is 7/70 on everything with $0 deductible. 1st time I've ever bought an extended, but I, like others, have some fear of this newest technology.

The longer you wait, if longer than the 1st year, the more it will cost you. They jack it up, I guess, to entice you to buy now.
  • dennisdennis Member Posts: 50
I'm going to purchase the extended also. New model, new electronics (mds), think it will be worth it in the long run. I have never bought one in the past.
  • autoguyautoguy Member Posts: 23
Can you post the link and what exactly is the warranty called so I can compare apples to apples.

    Thanks

The thing is that we can't allow links to automotive dealerships - check the Rules of the Road linked above.

So the best thing to do is your own research. Using the same car buying techniques we learn about in these discussions and on the main Edmunds site should be of great value in purchasing extended warranties.

The article at this link should be very helpful: Warranty Tips.

    Good luck!
  • pezlarpezlar Member Posts: 2
You have the option of buying the extended warranty anytime before your 3yr/36k bumper to bumper warranty expires. i dont know if I will keep the car for more than 3 years so it makes no sense for me to purchase the extended warranty now.

i ordered my 300c on 4/22 hope we get them before the rebate runs out.i live in Ind. about 10 miles from the Ill. state line. i ordered my 300c from a dealer in Ill. good luck
  • mikeyjohnmikeyjohn Member Posts: 365
I'm curious, if you factory ordered your car and did the financing thing or whatever, why would you not get the rebates? We do not get any rebates here in Canada this year so count yourselves lucky that you have the opportunity to get something. I'm hoping that with the price of gas going through the roof, that customers will cancel or not buy new cars, which should force the manufacturers to bring out those incentives that we have become used too.

Hi all. I just finished watching the season finale of ER and the 300C was prominently featured during the show. Dr. Pratt (played by Mekhi Phifer) was shown during the beginning of show with his new Chrysler with MDS, 5.7, 340hp, etc. This was all actually spoken as dialogue. Chrysler had some heavy rotation advertising during the show. The end of the show involved a car chase that involved the new 300C and culminated in the the season cliff hanger.

I don't know if Chrysler was trying for this or not but I think this product placement further enhances their image with the urban crowd as the Dr. Pratt character comes from the inner city and the actor who plays him is best known for his role in the rap underdog story "8 mile" which he played opposite Eminem.

Overall I think it was a stroke of marketing genius and a not so blatant product placement.

Rayk1 - what was your order date? Did you order the sunroof? The reason I ask is that my order went in on 4/12 and am still sitting athe the end of week 5 at BG status. The Chrysler no-help line and dealer both still swear (as of yesterday) that the hold up is the sunroof.

Chrysler seems to have a great vehicle here but its almost as if they have forgotten how to handle success. Its scares me that a month after its introduction they could run out of an option as fundemental and common on modern cars as a sunroof. It scares me that their customer service and dealers (according to my experience and reading comments here) don't have the slightest idea of what is going on with their own product that they are supposed to be a ble to support. When customer service isn't equipped to answer a simple question like "when will sunroofs be available - REALLY," should they be trusted to handle more serious issues that may arise during ownership? Chrysler has come a long way in pleasing its customer base by increasing vehicle quality, its now time they learn that in an "information-age" educated customers resent being kept in the dark.

Well, sorry I rambled - I would appreciate knowing date and options Rayk1. Thanks...

I finally have my car back and it is not pulling to the right anymore. The dealership informed us that the problem was with the camber bolts used from the factory. They were 1/32 of an inch smaller in size than the ones used to replace them with .Maybe there was to much play happening because of the smaller size.Out of the 9 300c's that the dealer has sold, 5 pull to the right. Not very good odds at all.The dealer went right to the vender and noticed this size difference .They changed them and presto the car is a pleasure to drive again, not pulling to the right.Another saftisfied Chrysler buyer.

Kvilleboy, I am in the same boat. Ordered on 4/19 with sunroof and am still in BG. I am patient because I think the longer I wait the more little bugs they might have gotten out. Yet, I do have a hard time waiting. Read on some other board of a guy in Canada who ordered a Magnum R/T with sunroof at the end of April and his car is already in D status. Am not sure in what order they build them, maybe right now they are doing some Canadian cars. Anyway, I hope that means we will get ours soon, too.
  • mikeyjohnmikeyjohn Member Posts: 365
You may have been talking about me, I ordered a 300C not a Magnum on the 27th of April and got my VIN yesterday with a build date on or around the 15th of June. There has not been an issue with sunroofs, at least not here in Canada where the sunroofs are standard equipment on the C.
  • kvilleboykvilleboy Member Posts: 45
    Hmmm... I wonder

If the sunroof is standard equipment on the "C" in Canada perhaps all the available sunroofs are going to build Canadian vehicles not leaving enough remaining to fill US orders?? Without sunroofs they can't build ANY Canadian "C"s, but without sunroofs they can still build US cars as long as they don't specify the roof as an option.
  • mikeyjohnmikeyjohn Member Posts: 365
The Cdn market probably only accounts for 10%of the market. If you have read reports here as well as on other sites, there never has been a problem with supply and demand for these sunroofs and that comes from both the manufacturer and the gang who put them in at the plant. The guy at Brampton does not know where this sunroof thing started.
  • hmk123hmk123 Member Posts: 122
Hmm, this is really strange. Well, I had called my dealer a week ago and he said Chrysler told them to not take sunroof orders for a while. When I called Chrysler's 800 number that week I was also told that sunroof availability is to be determined. Also, one of the online car dealer web site has a note under the sunroof option for the 300C saying it is no longer available for factory orders as of 4/30. For the Magnum R/T for some reason it only says temporarily unavailable. So whatever all this means I don't know and I am not implying anything, I am just confused :-)
  • kvilleboykvilleboy Member Posts: 45
Brampton doesn't know where the sunroof thing is coming from ???? I'll tell you. It's coming from Daimler-Chrysler customer support. The guy I talked to said it was listed on his May 10th restrictions sheet. Like I said previously. If this is NOT an issue then what IS the holdup on ordered vehicles and what excuse is there for a company putting out false information to their own customer base.

D-C, a word of advice - be honest and forthcoming with your customers. We can deal with a wait if we understand why we are waiting and have a realistic (and consistent) statement of resolution time.
  • emaleemale Member Posts: 1,380
yeah, over on another forum a brampton assembly worker said they continue to install moonroofs on the magnums and 300s...he said from what he could tell there was no problem...so who kows? maybe they are trying to load up the initial magnums with sunroofs and are temporarily using all of them for that?

btw, if there is a HOLD on sunroof equipped 300s, it won't last very long...you can count on that...
  • mikeyjohnmikeyjohn Member Posts: 365
I agree with the post that says DC is not doing a very good job with public relations and I gave my concerns to the customer relation person I talked to on two different occasions. I don't know what will be done, but you can be assured there is no problem with the supply of sunroofs, and the plant is going great guns in pumping them out.

Yep... very nice marketing strategy. Magnesium seems to be color of choice for everyone.

My dealer told me that he has alot of orders on Magnesium and hardly none for the Jade.

I think I'm going Blue bound...
  • buckheadbuckhead Member Posts: 16
Ordered 300C on April 9th. Ordered fully loaded blue. I got a call a few weeks ago about the sun roof being on hold. Decided to cancel sun roof on May 8th. Car moved to D status almost right away. On May 13th car was moved to D1 status with a June 10th build date.

As customer service rep told me: 'if they have all the parts they'll build it about then.'

The other good news is that the local inalfa sun roof dealer said he's do the install for about the same price as Chrysler would have charged me. Unless there's a big difference in quality, it looks like I made the right move cancelling the factory installed sun roof.

Let's hope Chrysler doesn't run out of any more parts...

Sometime you get the impression that DC couldn't organize a XXXX in a brothel...

kvilleboy-I ordered the car 2/17 with the moonroof it was built on 4/30 it was a long wait. rayk1

We were in Florida last week and stopped at Chrysler dealers. The 300C prices are all sticker price. The sunroof issue according to the dealers has something to do with the sunroof and the side air bags. We asked what about the ones already produced and one dealer said to wait and order a new one. They denied a shortage of sunroofs. BS or not?
  • yak54yak54 Member Posts: 72
I called DC today aaabout my 3ooc. They said it had been edited, but the sunroof restriction had it on hold. My dealer told me Monday that the hold had been lifted. Seems like confusion to me?

Seems to me, you guys should just upgrade to a Caddie.

    Not.

    You mean "degrade"? :-)
  • jeepjeep Member Posts: 86
Yeah, I looked at the Deville, but determined that it was just a run of the mill GM vehicle, as usual. No comparison with the 300C. So what if it has the status,or lack therof of a Caddy. Nothing turns me on like the thumbs up I get from everyone who sees my 300C. You won't see that in a Caddy. SAY HEMIIIII.

    I ordered 2 different 300C's...
one on 4/6 and arrived @ dealer on 4/29.
One on 4/12 and arrived @ dealer on 5/12.
Less than 4 weeks each & came in as I ordered them.
Both with upgrade radios & protection groups.
Since I did not order moonroofs, guessing why I got mine so fast?
Both with sticker saying "Made Especially For...".
Guessing if you cancel moonroofs, your cars will come in faster?
I've had 11 new cars & never use the moonroof.
There's no real value come time to sell your car.
Cost u $900.00 to increase your trade value $300.00.

    hello!

did any of you check out this link that was provided earlier?

    http://www.arifleet.com/production.html

nothing in there that suggests there is a hold on sunroofs!! go look for yourselves...

the sunroof may have been on hold for awhile but is no longer...

barry626 said: I've had 11 new cars & never use the moonroof.

That's all well and good, excpet for those who want it. Personally, I'll not own another car without one. I've even considered putting an aftermarket one in one of the two cars we have which don't have them, but one doesn't get driven 'cause I don't really like it, the other will be replaced by the SRT version of the 300C, should it be made.

I do my best to convince my wife I need seat time in her car to enjoy the roof hole.

Of course, the one I don't like is the one we'll keep forever, as it has a dedicated use and it has horrible resale value.

Did all you Hemi C owners get your recall notice explaining that a module will be replaced and software updated to improve the Hemi's emission standards.

I'm desperate for a pic of the jade green 300...can't find one anywhere, any ideas? All I can see is the idiotic teeny paint chip at the dealer's....I think it is between magnesium and jade, but would love feedback from any on what they think....
  • cavendishcavendish Member Posts: 5
How do you like the jade color? I am trying to decide between jade and magnesium based on a paint chip....why can't they have decent pix on the website?
  • crispiegeecrispiegee Member Posts: 90
The jade is beautiful. Almost a silvery/mint green.

I'm not a pastel kind of person normally, but it looks good. I will order mine in either black or magnesium, as I like darker colors.

This town hall is all over the place. I have had my Black 300c, protection group II, Sound group II, for almost a month. With almost 2k miles and lots of fun. This car really is an attention getter. I tinted the windows, had Clear Armor applied. I found a forum with owners with 300's and already changing oil and changing wheels. Some are already into performance upgrades. The other starts W- SRT. When this "town hall" gets up to speed I'L BE BOK

CAn someone tell me if it's possible in adding a bluetooth adapter to a phone that is not already bluetooth equiped and use the uconnect? I'd think it would would just like the bluetooth headsets? Which comes with an adapter that plugs into the phone and transmits to the wirless headset. Thus, couldn't this method work with the uconnect and you just wouldn't use the headset?

Sat in a 300 Limited this morning. My observations:

Car looks GREAT! Very nicely done interior. Gauges are a bit obscured after I put the seat and wheel where I want them, but no big deal. Didn't care for the location of the cruise control stalk either--there's about 10 ways to do it right and this isn't one of them.

Seats are extremely comfortable and easy to get them high off the floor. Nice and firm as well. Plenty of room in the rear seats as well. I didn't like the way the floor on the passenger side stays flat until way under the dash. There's no rise to comfortably rest one's feet. Again, somewhat minor. Also, why have a power passenger seat with a manual backrest adjustment. That makes no sense.

Plenty of room in the trunk. Odd seeing the battery and electrical distribution box next to the spare.

Overall, I love this car. If I could only convince my wife that it looks good, I would get one in a heartbeat. Waiting for the AWD one to be released.

    Regards,
    Tom

I ordered my 300C on May 7th, at that time I was told there were two rebates I was intitled to receive. One was the finance by Chrysler and returning Chrysler owner. Once I turned in my PT and gave a $500.00 deposit I was advised that the rebates might expire before I take delivery on my car.
This did not make me happy, so I'm calling Chrysler tomorrow and find out why I can't be locked into these rebates since I have turned in my PT and gave a deposit. The dealer said no contract to sign until they receive the car, I do have a VON.

My new 300 pulls to the right as well. The dealer did not have the specs, nor the training to do an alignment. They only discovered the rear cam's at the second alignment. There "chief" mechanic spent two hours on the alignment the first time and an hour and a half the second. Then he drove the car, assured me the alignment was in and it did not pull. Guess what, it pulls. They do not have a clue, nor does Chrysler provide any help. They just suggested another dealer. Note to Chrysler. I have a job, the employer wants me to be there, and please train your five star dealers. I asked to see the underside of the car and they looked at it with me. I asked for giggles to see the fuel filter. You should have seen them search for the filter that does not exist! My Lexus dealer puts these guys to shame. So did my Ford dealer, my pontiac dealer, etc. This car is driving me nuts with this pulling issue. I wish you would reply back and advise us drivers of what dealer found this because they deserve a gold star.
  • mikeyjohnmikeyjohn Member Posts: 365
I don't know what happened to my other reply, but I have 2 pictures I took at a dealership in Jade. If I knew your e-mail address I could send it to you. I don't know how to do it here.
  • bobbyc49bobbyc49 Member Posts: 2
i also have a 300c that pulls to the right. had the factory tech and the district mgr. at the dealership with the camber bolt kit. they did not install because they said the car was in alignment and followed the crown of the road.i told them they were full of it. I have a 34 thousand dollar car that pulls or drifts right. the dealer cannot fix and chrysler will not acknowledge. i'm at wits end.
