My dealer said they new about it before some hit the lot and there was a bulletion but I dont see one on the nhsta. He said they fixed them if needed. I dont own a 300 but was talking to them about it. I didnt ask what the fix was but it was Carlsons in Concord, NH. They are on the web. Also they are selling at msrp minus the rebate, no mark up. Just a FYI for anyone in the region. Good luck.

Hate to burst your bubble. The owner loyalty rebate has already expired.

The dealer that fixed my pulling to the right is located in Windsor,Ontario, Canada. It was Pinnacle Crysler. They used to be Courtesy Dodge Chrysler. By giving you this information I hope they decide not to beat me up to much with the amount of calls they are probably going to get. From what I was told it was the camber bolts from the factory were 1/32" smaller than ones from the vender.I hope this helps.

I talked to a salesman today and he said the sunroof is on hold. Says the problem was due to the equipment that cuts the hole in the roof and bends the metal over is not working correctly. As soon as they fix it, sunroofs will be available again.
  • ssshemissshemi Member Posts: 14
When I ordered my 300C on May 7th the salesman showed me a letter from Chrysler stating the moonroofs for the 300, PT and Crossfire are on hold until Jan. 05.

My bubble was never inflated to start with thank God, I wasn't relying on these rebates. However I will pursue the matter on principal alone.

I was also told at a dealership there will be 2 different versions of the tire pressure monitor. The first one, available maybe June will be a monitor/indicator on the dash that will indicate when tire pressure is low but will not show which tires need the air. So you'll have to check all tires. The second version will be available maybe July or the Fall and it will indicate which specific tire needs to be checked. Neither version can be dealer installed. Do any of you that already have your cars or are waiting on delivery care about not having the tire pressure monitor? I don't have one now, so I will not miss it, but think it would a nice feature to have.
  • barry626barry626 Member Posts: 78
Yes, it's a great feature, but not worth waiting 6 months for.
I got my car 4/29 & no tire monitors on any cars till October!

I really don't know where this info is coming from about the roofs not being available. I ordered my car on the 27th of April and had thought my car was going to be built on the 15th of June. I just found out to-day that my car was scheduled for build (D-1) last Friday the 14th of May.

I was told that this means it was either built at 07:38 AM EDT on the 14th or within the next few days, and I have a moonroof with mine.

quote from a guy who works at a dealership...

"Sunroofs have been reopened for ordering as of 5/7/04 but are being put in "BG" status, which mean restriced, unavailable for scheduling. I think this means whatever problem they found has been fixed and they're waiting for fresh parts to arrive at the factory."
  • carcom2carcom2 Member Posts: 212
I hope your right because I'm ready to buy/order the 300 C very soon and definitely have to have the sunroof. I might just forget about waiting for the tire pressure monitors. Wonder though, how long will the build be delayed on orders from this day on w/ sunroofs?
  • carcom2carcom2 Member Posts: 212
Thanks for the info. I'm thinking I can do with the tire pressure monitors because I'm ready to order the car but only if the moonroof is really not going to delay the order.
  • emaleemale Member Posts: 1,380
info should be right...came from a salesman who checked status on friday...

CarCom2 asked: . Do any of you that already have your cars or are waiting on delivery care about not having the tire pressure monitor?

Personally, when I placed the order back in Jan, the TPM's were listed on the Mopar's 300 website. By the time the vehicle came in Mopar had pulled any mention of the TPM. When I did the financing, I did inquire about a kickback seeing that it was to come with the car when I signed the contract, and the dealer said I could order my 18" rim / spare at dealer's cost. I settled with that.

I guess that it would be a good feature to have, however, I wasn't willing to wait to buy the car just to get that feature. Like you I don't have it on any of my other cars, and I never had a problem. I guess for the average Joe who is neglectful it might come in handy.

I called the DMV in CT - front plate required-but they told me the plate can be anywhere on the front bumper. No height off the ground restriction unlike what some sales guy told me. I don't like that on the 300's the bracket blocks part of the grill.

Has anyone mounted the plate anywhere else so it doesn't block the grill? Looks like there would be room right below the grill. How does/would it look in comparison to blocking part of the grill?
  • mnmatchesmnmatches Member Posts: 111
Since there are many variables that affect how your monitor displays its colors, and because of the type of lighting and surroundings present in the photo, you'll never get a true idea as to what the actual color is without actually seeing it in person. This is why I would never buy a car without seeing a representation of its color first hand. If you want to know what a color looks like, you should find a dealer in your area that has it.

    carcom2-

Just curious. If you live in AL, why did you call the CT DMV?

I'm waiting for delivery of the car, than I'll see how I will attach it.
For my CTS I made a holder, I put soft velcro on the back, attached with two long plastic screws that go through the bottom custom grill, I hand tighten it. I carry it in the trunk for when I have to put it on. Like at places I know the police cite parked cars for no front plate.
  • soozpksoozpk Member Posts: 205
We've been driving around here for almost a month now on the prairie (ND), and haven't recieved our plates as of yet.......But I've been looking at the grill being covered up also, if there's a way to remount the plate, I'll do that.

With all the technical data I have seen on the 300C, I have been unable to find the drag coefficient.

I saw the Speedvision test drive for the first time Saturday night and it made me curious about the drag coefficient. Anybody seen the numbers?

    Hi, Gang.

Well after much eager anticipation I finally got to drive a Chrysler 300 Touring edition with all the goodies except the Hemi of course.

My opinion is that it's a very good car but definitely not worth the $33K+ sticker (remember this had all the options but the V8). First, the things I liked were the power, overall superior quietness, handling and 'big car' ride, front and rear leg room. The things I didn't like were some disconcerting bumps coming from the rear suspension over rough terrain (which to me indicate no problem but just lesser-than average suspension and noise muting) and lesser than ideal quality of interior build and materials. The dash covering, for instance, looked more at home on a Dodge Intrepid.

Overall, I don't recommend buying the car new, and I am STRONGLY against paying anything over dealer invoice. To me, it's not worth it.

However, If you can find a pre-owned model about a year out from now, I predict the price will drop about 20%, and then a 300 Touring or 300C will be a very good deal. As an example I look at my Buick Regal GS - In late 2002 I found a 2002 model with 4,000 miles, driven by a GM executive in Michican, and it was hardly broken in. I paid about $9K less than what the original sticker.

I assume the same thing will happen to these 300s.

Again, I think it's a great car but only at about $5 - $7K less than what the sticker is.

Well, I'm sure I won't be paying MSRP or even close to it... so, to each their own!
  • etcarrolletcarroll Member Posts: 87
Does anyone share this reason for waiting - want them to work out whatever bugs I'm sure will arise with the 4/8 cylinder on/off feature, (MDS I think they call it).
  • 307web307web Member Posts: 1,033
There will likely be bugs, but it won't have to be bugs related to MDS. Even if there are no problems with MDS, there are typically problems in new cars and it tales a while for the techs to know how to fix them the first time.
Let them practice on other people's cars and let the parts inventories get set up properly so you won't be waiting for back ordered parts.

A magazine reporter is hoping to interview buyers of the new Chrysler 300 and Dodge Magnum who hadn't previously owned Chrysler products, or who moved from an SUV into one of these vehicles.

. . .but the emotional reasons trump the logical when buying a new car -- to each his/her own.
  • etcarrolletcarroll Member Posts: 87
If I remember correctly from my days in sales, we were taught that people buy on emotion, then justify buying with logic.

    Or words to that effect.
  • carcom2carcom2 Member Posts: 212
There was a typo in my profile. I corrected it. I live in CT
  • intrepidspiritintrepidspirit Member Posts: 662
I think it makes good sense to buy new...in a couple of years.

By then, hopefully the bugs are out, the image will be set (police cars, taxis, rentals?) and DC will be rebating (like everybody else) to try and get the second wave of potential 300 buyers who won't pay MRSP.

As much as I get caught up in the emotion of an exciting new car, logic takes over and I won't overpay -- in fact I have to get a deal.

BTW, a local dealer had an ad for a new 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser over the weekend -- MRSP $18K plus -- price after discounts and rebates -- $9,499. A few years ago, people were paying $30k plus to be first on the block...
  • dougusdougus Member Posts: 6
I don't get it. I see lots of 300 ads on TV, in magazines, and even on my TiVo, but when people go to their Chrysler dealer there are no 300's to be found. A couple of friends want 300C's and they are laughed at by the sales people. "Get in line" is one response.

Why produce a bunch of low-end, minimum profit, rental-fleet cars when this car is in such high demand? Chrysler is trying to improve their image but I'm not sure filling rental-car lots with beater 300's was a good idea.
  • emaleemale Member Posts: 1,380
despite what SOME have said...it will be quite awhile before you see pacifica style rebates on the new 300s...they are flying out the doors. dealers are having a hard time stocking up on especially the C edition. and since were are going into the biggest sales months...don't expect them to become much more plentiful on lots either.

as for waiting for used ones...well, to each his own. i prefer a virgin over one that may have been driven hard and put away wet on numerous occasions... ;)
  • 307web307web Member Posts: 1,033
I think there is a production shortage rather than any great massive sales. I have seen one on the road. There are few on the lots because few were shipped to the lots.
People need to wait for production to pick up. This was supposed to be a high volume car, but it isn't at the moment.
  • emaleemale Member Posts: 1,380
it is obvious that demand for the 300 is far out ahead of what the pacifica experienced when it was launched...

and chrysler sold nearly 10k units of the 300 in april...it's first full sales month. this car is a hit no matter how you look at it...

The 300 should be a great vehicle, German engineered and Canadian built, what could get better than that!
  • emaleemale Member Posts: 1,380
german engineering has its problems too...just look at the last couple jd power surveys...especially concerning mercedes.
  • gregoryc1gregoryc1 Member Posts: 764
Canadian Built for the American Market?????????
  • kevm14kevm14 Member Posts: 423
It's the ML-class's fault. Their cars are still fairly solid I believe.
  • kvilleboykvilleboy Member Posts: 45
"The 300 should be a great vehicle, German engineered and Canadian built, what could get better than that!"

How about the ability to produce them in sufficient quantities with advertised options available and distributing them in a timely manner to those who plopped down the bucks to own one??
  • Jason5Jason5 Member Posts: 440
The 300 and it's variants are selling well--better than anticipated. Dealerships in YOUR area may not seem to have many on the lots. Our local 5 star dealers have many. The local 5 star Dodge Dealer has three Magnums on the lot and 7 available on advance order.
  • 307web307web Member Posts: 1,033
Did 5,000 of those go to rental fleets?
I thought they wanted to sell 300,000 per year?
3 Magnums on a lot is puny.
Imagine going to a Toyota dealer and only seeing 3 Camrys available for sale.
  • ruskiruski Member Posts: 1,566
300M didn't really have any big problems to speak of.
  • intrepidspiritintrepidspirit Member Posts: 662
You're right! The 300C has had more problems in the first 2 months than the 300M had in the first year! And then the problems were manageable -- replacement of some motor windows being the biggest I can recall...
  • intrepidspiritintrepidspirit Member Posts: 662
"To unload some of the old models ie 04 Intrepids, Daimler had to offer huge rebates and other incentives to lure enough suckers to liquidate the inventory."

Those "suckers" will get a great buy on a proven car!
  • 307web307web Member Posts: 1,033
Oh, it makes sense that they still need to move out the backlog of old '04 300Ms, Concordes and Intrepids before they start dumping too many '05 300s on the lots.
So, that explains why Chrysler is not that interested in high volume of the 2005s yet.
More reason to wait if you have any interest in a good deal on a 300.
  • carcom2carcom2 Member Posts: 212
Does anyone know how to find out what the next incentives on the 300's might be in June or July without having to wait until then? Seems like they are changing ea. mo. 1st the loyalty rebate, now the finance one.
  • ruskiruski Member Posts: 1,566
what do you mean? I don't see any problems with 300C being reported yet. Just the thing about pulling to the right and they already have a fix for it.

300M used to have issues with a bad batch of windows motors, true. Also, remember the sticky (literally) weatherstrips when the windows were up for a while?
  • markcincinnatimarkcincinnati Member Posts: 5,343
. . .the great reviews of the 300C on this town hall are hard to ignore. But, just out of curiosity, how many folks would have gone for the AWD model if it had been brought to market concurrently with the RWD 300C?

I'm biding my time to test one of the AWD versions, which I hear are slated for 4th Q '04.
  • tibbunetibbune Member Posts: 76
All wheel drive? NO thanks. My Jeep has fulltime all wheel drive, and though I do admit it handles like a champ because of it, it's just not something I'd ever want in my tire torching hot rod...err...I mean, my everyday luxury sedan.

With the ESP off, I am making the tightest U-turns the intersection audiences have ever seen! Try whipping it in AWD, good luck. My neighbor called laughing as he inquired about the recent 'tire scars' near the neighborhood entrance. "I know nothing, nothing, nothing..." If I lived in snow, or ever saw rain (still a myth here in AZ), then 'maybe' I'd feel it's worth something. But if all you touch is asphault, why add extra weight to an already heavy vehicle?

    Let em rip!
