Problems like guys ordering in January and still no delivery in May and the general unavailability of the 300C (and the moon roof) and rumors of 300C's being stored on amusement park lots because they have to be inspected for an undisclosed production problem.
It just seems like DC is unprepared to take advantage of the 300C's popularity.
BTW, I remember the sticking you mentioned with the 300M, but I never had it. Was that one of the reasons for the window motor issue?
Maybe I will try to make a photoshop job...
Also, what do you think about visibility? What is this talk about blind spot on driver's side?
Nice and quiet cruising at 80 on the interstate. As for the blind spot, it's the tendency of an object to be blocked from view by the rear view mirror (RVM). The wife has no problem seeing the "whole picture"s under the RVM as she's only 5'1". However, as for myself 6'0", I like to have the driver's seat in sort of a "bucket" mode, with lots of leg room, meaning the seat is as far back as it goes. In this mode, if I sit up the RVM blocks my vision pretty bad, in my own opinion anyway. To circumvent this I have to "slouch" to be able to see the "whole pictue", which is then presented by seeng everything UNDER the RVM. I have the RVM pushed up as close to the headliner as I can. One can't go right to the headliner as the garage opener thing is there. One has to keep playing with the adjustment to get it right, but I'm content with slouching at the moment. Oh, by the way, if I need to adjust the cruise control, I have to sit straight up to see it behind the steering wheel, as it's rather hidden from view. Once I get used to adjusting the cruise blindly, I'll be fine. Right now, I don't use it that much, so I'm fumbling with it.
Tomorrow, the C goes in for it's new module and software emissions update, going to have them do an oil change, and switch to synthetic for the remainder of it's life.
I am referring to the 300...a preliminary review of the vehicle is in the April auto issue of Consumer Reports.
Check out this quote from http://allpar.com/cars/lx/index.html, apparently written mid-2003:
Full-fledged production of the first LX cars is due to start around January 5, with preliminary test models being cranked out very slowly to work out processes, find quality problems, and work on last-minute changes (this is normal, but suppliers have reportedly complained that the Lutz era's progress in eliminating last-minute changes has been largely erased). Next come fleet models for endurance testing, and finally models for retail sale. You should be able to buy an LX in January 2004. (Thanks, Otto Wrkr, for the dates).

By the way, the way sideview mirrors SHOULD be positioned is so that you can see traffic to the SIDE of you. Many people have them pointed so they can see their back bumper or the sides of their own car, which is incorrect. No wonder people get sideswiped!
Also, in MP3 mode you can view folders but not the individual songs within the folders? I have only tried 1 MP3 CD so far with only 1 folder. I see the folder but can't seem to see the songs under that folder. Is this the case? I think I read in an earlier post that those with the NAV system can scroll through folders and songs in a nice disply on the NAV screen interface. Is that true? If so, it kind of sucks buecause I ordered the NAV but backed out of my order because of the sunroof delay and took an in stock car without NAV.
I drove it back on I95 last night and it's amazing how 1 out of 5 drivers did a full 90 degree turn of their head to look at the car!
I had no wind noise and was surprised how quiet it was. The audio system is awesome!
I think I did notice a slight pull to the right when my hands were off the steering wheel (which I could live with).
It was very difficult in not stepping on the gas pedal! They say to drive 55 for the breakin but that's impossible in that car!
My one major gripe is that the LCD for the NAV/Radio is too bright and it should allow you to dim it or turn it off without actually turning off the radio. Using the control dimmer switch dims everything which is no good as you need lights for the dashboard. My wife says she will put an antiglare film over the lcd screen which will greatly cut down on the glare when driving at night. Also, someone really needs to get the hack for allowing nav input when driving above 10mph! My passenger was complaining they coulnd't input which doesn't make sense.
It's an awesome car! I can't wait to leave work and drive it.
You're right, it's bright enough with the stock setup to illuminate any and all trailing vehicles. Somewhat annoying yes, but then when you consider the evil glow it must give you when other drivers look over at you (think camp counselor with flashlight held to chin during spooky story time), it's just another German stroke of evil genius.
This only refers to Hemi C's, and this is how some of it appears. Dear Chrysler 300C Owner, DaimlerChrysler has determined that some 2005 model year Chrysler 300C vehicles equipped with a 5.7L engine may be in violation of Federal and California emission regulations.
The problem is: The Powertrain Control Module on your vehicle was inadvertantly programmed with incorrect software that can cause the On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) system to malfunction.
What DaimlerChrysler and your dealer will do: DaimlerChrysler will repair your vehicle free-of-charge (parts and labor) To do this, your dealer will replace your vehicle's Powertrain Control Module, and install the correct software. The work will take about an hour to complete:
Okay, there's probably a little bit more to this, as I dropped my car off at 7:00 AM, and the service advisor asked if I wanted to wait for it (Thank God I didn't), but told them I'll just swing by at noon and pick it up. However, at noon the car was still in the bay with it's hood up, and a big variable charger hooked to the battery in the back end. I told them to just call when it was done, and that turned out to be 2:00 PM...........so beware the timeframe of an hour.
Is this normal for the hood to be so hot?

I searched this forum, but did not find a specific answer to how this compares to the dvd maps in the 300C nav.
http://scoop.daimlerchrysler.com/product_30005_navigation.shtml
" The single DVD solution "
While no % figure is give, they basically say it covers all of the US "where digital mapping data is available". Probably a whole lot more than 5% . . .
- Ray
Believing that any % figure given would be out of date immediately anyway . . .
My Garmin 2610 gives me complete coverage for the whole of the USA with specific directions in even a small time like Falcon, NC.
I'm not sure if anyone has a recommendation on a good model, but I'm already going to spend more than I really should buy a 300C. Adding another $2,000 for navigation seems a bit irresponsible.
If you do move up the chain 450 places each day shouldn't Chrysler be able to project when an order placed on a certain date is available to be built? I suspect we have some "informed" people here (joecanuk where did you go??), any ideas, not based on guesses or hopes) of when an order for a "C" with the sunroof might be delivered? As of 5/20 - still BG!!
The frustrating part is that I have seen 2 very similarly equipped cars available within 200 miles of me. Do I abandon my deal with my dealer (who has my $500 deposit) and go for a bird in the hand? I really don't want to do that. I like to honor my contracts and they have assured me that they will stick to their quoted value on my trade-in whenever the car arrives (but common sense would tell me that there would have to be limits there). Please - help, someone give me peace of mind.
By the way, mine came with a sunroof.
I know one of the vendors who produces some of the assemblies for the 300C and they said Chrysler has upped the quantities a few times. The sunroof may have some long lead time parts that don't allow the vendor to react quickly. I guarentee you they want to.
Oh yea, the vendors employees loved the 300C and several came out to admire it!

Inventory of 300Cs, however, may be something of a problem in OKC
I'm going to give you a toll-free number for Brampton Assembly, HOWEVER, it's against house rules to post phone numbers. Load these three words onto your browser, and hopefully, you'll have it. One word of caution when calling: Be courteous, be patient, be specific. No long stories, just have your VIN handy. They patched me through two people until they found someone who finally knew that my vehicle had been shipped. Hopefully, the number is still viable.

To quote an old song- "It's Only Just Begun!" ;-))

Is it every car? Is it just those built before a certian date? Are they still building out these cars knowing they have a problem, or have they stopped production until they fix it?
What's up?
A better idea is to make your email address public in your profile (see Town Hall Profile link on the upper left side of the page). That way only members who are logged in can see it -- the bots who harvest email addresses for the spammers cannot.
It would be better to delete a message that contains your email address, make the address public in your profile and then repost asking folks to check your profile in order to contact you.
That way the spam bots can't getcha!!
I know this is an imposition but would you take a few pictures of your 300c & post them somewhere or maybe email me? (see my profile for email.. thx for the tip patHOST) I have been dying to see the lava red ad none have come in that color at my dealer yet.. my order is still in BG status so if it looks killer I still have a chance to change my order
please please show off your ride!
