if you go to a high volume dealer the car wouldn't have been there that long. I bought my car in NJ in April 29, 2006, the build date was 4/06.

bartalk, you may also need to look whether the build date fell on a Friday or a date that is before a long holiday. Rumors have it the build quality on those dates isn't good because the union workers want to leave early or day dream about what their weekends or holidays are going to be like :)

Here's the best quote I received from a Southern Ca dealer on a TL w/o Nav.:

    Power Acura, South Bay

$ 29, 839. (Includes destination, mudguards, wheel locks, and trunk try).

LOL.....That's an old wives tale that was told about the UAW and American cars.

Unfortunately, the build date on the TL door jam indicates only the month and the year the car was built, not whether it was built on a Monday or Friday, which, according to urban legend, are the days to avoid. No way to tell either whether the assembly workers were fantasizing about their upcoming Saturday night date. So it's just a roll of the dice. You pays your money you takes a chance. I still try to pick the most recent date because some dealers have low turnover and may have cars sitting in their lot for weeks and weeks or months, baking away, drying out the dashboard, etc. I bought a Volvo for my wife a few years ago and all the cars had been sitting around for a long time and when they tried to start the car we chose to bring it into the shop for prep, the battery was dead. Not too reassuring.

I just want to share what ive been thru. But first thing is first I perchesed an 2006 TL w/Nav to include wheel locks, trunk tray, mud guards, i-pod connector, and back up sensor for $32,769 +TTL ive also added the extended warrenty for $1,400 ( i know its on the steep side but i wanted it ). I got this amazing deal at Santa Monica acura. I made it there @ 8:30pm and didnt leave there until 10:30pm. I was kinda shady at first because the sales person would not email me a quote and insisted for me to come in. On a good note he kept his word and he let the car go for that price. @ first i went to keyes acura being that i had an over the phone qoute from santa monica acura and i didnt get a good feeling about it. Again the sales person at Keyes said he can "meet or beat anyones price". So i went there first. I got there and i told him Santa Monica's qoute but being that i dont have it in writing he cant even match it because it is insane for anyone sell an TL for 32K to include back up sensor and i-pod connector. While i was there he treated me as an idiot. So i ended the conversation and head down to Santa Monica to get that deal. Now im a new proud owner of an 2006 TL.

by the was I love this car!!

Bob, congratulations on your new car. What color did you end up with - exterior/interior?

I have visited Santa Monica Acura a few times and also Power Acura in Torrance, which is a little closer to my home. I like the Internet Manager at Power and also like the sales person I dealt with at Santa Monica.

The TL is a nice car, and I am still trying to decide whether to buy this month and get the special 4.9% financing or hold out until a few months at the end of the model year and hope the special financing will be back by then. My wife and I have kind of settled on the Silver with Quartz interior.

By the way, what was your out the door price?

I am hoping to join fellow TL buyers soon as it is a nice car.

Here is the internet deal I got from the acura dealer in Chantilly VA. It beat the best deal I could find in NC by about $1000. This is also the only dealer with the color combo that I wanted.

    2006 Black/camel 6 speed TL with Navigation.................$32,205.00
    Wing Spoiler...................550.00
    Moonroof visor................149.00
    Destination Charge............615.00
    Processng Fee.................299.00
    Sales Tax (3%).................1024.00
Tags, Online Fee, and Dealer Tax.....100.00 (about)
    Out the Door.............$34,942.00

Does anyone know how to do a national search for a specific Acura TL based on colors and features?
  • mikefm58mikefm58 Member Posts: 2,882
When I was looking for an 05 Civic last September with just the right options and color, I used autotrader.com. Lots of dealers advertise their new cars.
  • musicman220musicman220 Member Posts: 15
    Many thanks for that suggestion!
  • liferulesliferules Member Posts: 531
I personally wouldn't worry about that. Just have the dealership order one. My wife and I did that. Dealerships are getting shipments all the time and to special order a color isn't a problem. Our arrive the next week after our ordering it.
  • musicman220musicman220 Member Posts: 15
Thanks for the suggestion. I'm pretty sure it's too late to order a 2006, but I may do that for an '07.
  • bob289bob289 Member Posts: 14
    justalaguy,

its Anthracite/ebony. My out the door price was little over 37,100.00. its being that high because i add in the extended warranty for 1,400 more. the OTD was at 3566.00. That is still not a bad price being that it was 32,769.00 for 2006 TL w/Nav and wheel locks, mud guards, trunk tray, i-pod connector, and back up sensor. hope this helps and happy TL shopping.

I am shopping for a new 2006 TL automatic without navigation (silver exterior & quartz interior) in the Houston metropolitan area. The best drive out price I have is $32,978 (see breakout below) from a dealer in Dallas. Has anybody in Houston had better luck getting this vehicle cheaper from Sterling McCall, Gillman, Champion, or John Eagle. I do not want the Vehicle Protection System but the dealer in Dallas has already added it and this is his way of marking up the car a couple hundred dollars.

I would appreciate any feedback people in Texas can provide.

Thank you from a future TL owner.

    TL (base price w/o TTL): $ 30,499.00
Vehicle Protection System: $299.00(Wheel locks & VIN Etch)Sales Tax: $1,924.88
    Doc Fee: $50.00
    Road & Bridge: $10.00
    Inspection: $21.75
    Title & License: $93.80
    Vehicle Inv. Tax: $74.87
    Deputy Fee: $5.00
    Total (OTD): $32,978.30

this seems in line with prices in Dallas. I've got quotes for TL's with NAV at about 32,500 and 32,400 (for Manual Transmission). What dealership in Dallas was this?
  • z71billz71bill Member Posts: 1,986
I bought a TL without nav two weeks ago at Sterling McCall Houston - for $33K even. I think the cost of the car (including Doc fee) was $30,8??. I did not get (or want) wheel locks or window etch - I had the same basic deal from Champion ($33,000) or Gillman $33,100. But went with Sterling even though they are 20 or so miles from my house (Champion is less than 5 miles)

Sterling was very easy to deal with - they did not try to add anything in - no tricks - everything they told me over the phone was true. It took about 2 hours - and that included a 30 minute test drive.

Nothing wrong with trying to get a lower price - I maybe could have done a little better - all the Houston dealers have rows of TL's - every color - with and without nav - but I felt the deal was fair and I wanted to get it done.

No way I would drive to Dallas - even if it saved me several hundred dollars - not sure if any of the Houston dealers will match a price from Dallas - they all seemed to know EXACTLY where the other dealers (in Houston) were pricing the TL -

Champion had a few silver TL's that had hail damage - it has been fixed - could not find any dings - they did not have the color we wanted - but they were hinting at an extra $500 off -

    Good luck!
  • rishipriship Member Posts: 65
I had a driveout of 32,988 in Houston last month. That price included mud guards. I bought at Sterling McCall. Although they were very reluctant to do that price, they eventually did. it was a match of Champion's price, who was more eager to do it.

I wouldn't go to Dallas for that price. You will get the same deal in Houston. If I were you, I'd go to the dealer and offer that number and leave if they miss it by one dollar. The other way to do it is to specify the color you want and offer 32,978 by fax to all four dealers. Let them know that the first one to accept wins.
  • z71billz71bill Member Posts: 1,986
Would you really walk out if they said $32,989 is the best we can do? For a dollar!!!

I would not drive across the Southwest Freeway (where Sterling is located) to save $1.00.

I drove an extra 45 miles to buy from Sterling (Champion was the same price - and 15 miles closer to my house - I did not trade in a car).

At $3.20 a gallon thats an extra $7.50 at least - man I should have negotiated harder!
  • chaz87chaz87 Member Posts: 11
Sterling McCall must have over 130 Acura TL's on their lot. They have four 6 sp TL's which have sat in their lot for at least 3 months. I believe TL sales are down 10% from last years' numbers. Its hard to believe they will sell all 130 before the new model year arrives. Do you believe that Acura will have any manufacturer to deal incentives before the model year is over?

    Any thoughts.
  • rishipriship Member Posts: 65
2 weeks ago I bought and tried to get 30,500. I couldn't get it. Champion came down to 30,800 with 2 years free oil changes. I told them that at 30,800 they would be my backup after Sterling and at 30,500 I'd buy without negotiation. They gave me their number so I went to Sterling. The way that I see it they knew they would likely lose my business over 200 and they were willing to. They even called while I was at Sterling Mccall and still didn't give 30,500. Just said come in and we'll make it worth your while.

Sterling didn't want to do my deal, and my salesguy said management was only doing it as a favor to him, and I believe him. 30,500 was immediately refused. So I believe that I could not have gotten 30,500. Based on my experience I'd probably say that Just get your quote matched and be happy that you got a good deal.
  • chaz87chaz87 Member Posts: 11
Thanks for the input. Your advice is spot on. These Houston Acura dealers are extremely consistent in their pricing structure. I will probably bite the bullet at a drive out of ~$33,000.

    Thanks again.

I just got an email quote for an '06 Acura TL w/o Nav for $29,799 including destination. I was pretty surprised. That seems like a great price to me. I'm going to go back and ask how much with Nav.
  • portoarportoar Member Posts: 14
Try Power Acura in Torrance. I got a quote of $29,799 w/o Nav. (Automatic).
  • portoarportoar Member Posts: 14
Hi, I've gotten a price quote that seems "too good to be true." For Auto w/o Nav, $29,799 and with Nav, $31,495. These quotes seem awfully low to me, I'm wondering what the catch is? Or should I just make the 2 hour drive to LA and grab it?
  • aheahe Member Posts: 8
I would say grab it - lowest I have seen in SF bay area has been $32,500 with navi. See if you can swindle the protection package from them too. Unlikely since your price is quite a bit below invoice but hey you never know.
  • angelatlangelatl Member Posts: 1
Do you mind me asking which dealer quoted this price? I am also looking in the new jersey area for a TL without navi.

    Thanks,
  • chaz87chaz87 Member Posts: 11
The best price (in the Houston area) I have on a TL without nav is $30,500 without TTL. Drive out is 32,664.

Has anybody in Houston received better quote in the last week?
  • portoarportoar Member Posts: 14
Power Acura in Torrance, CA. I'm a little skeptical. I've been collecting bids from dealers. They've asked me to forward the written bid I got from Power Acura and they say that to sell at that price, the dealer would be taking an actual loss on the car. No one else will come close to that price, and the other dealers are telling me that when I show up I'll probably get a bait and switch routine. I'm inclined to agree. I don't want to drive 2 hours to a dealer and then go through dealer bs. I did get a quote of $30,495 incl destination and with the pro pack from Norm Reeves Acura in Temecula CA, and $32,495 with Navigation, destination and pro pack. I think I will end up there.
  • greathannygreathanny Member Posts: 17
I have been lurking on this website for some time - so I feel like I should post the results of my purchase made yesterday. I did not negotiate hard or at length so I probably left a few hundred on the table. I did the negotiations via email and there was no bait and switch. Very smooth and professional transaction. My purchase at Niello located in Sacramento was:

TL w/Nav (Anthracite/Parchment) plus protection package (free) plus all weather mats ($103) = $32,423

I did not purchase any extended warranties, finance the purchase, add other protection items, or have a trade in. Strictly straighforward cash deal.

    TL is awesome!
  • liferulesliferules Member Posts: 531
I would turn the table on them. Tell them you're busy but want the car at that price. Tell them to fedex you the sale paperwork for you to review and then you'll bring the check and paperwork by to purchase the car, thus expediting the process. If they have no intention of selling the car at that price, they won't send paperwork. Otherwise, you've gotten a great car at an outstanding price!

    Good luck.
  • jerseyguy3jerseyguy3 Member Posts: 7
Wanted to let you know that I bought an 06 TL with Navi, including pro-pack, mats, and body side moldings for $32,600( the mats and wheel locks were thrown in) plus TTL. 32,280 w/o the extras in South Jersey. The quote w/o Navi was 30,380 from Sussman Acura in Maple Shade thru their internet pricing dept. They had several in stock a/o last week.

The car is awesome. :D Good luck.

Does anybody have a recent experience finding the best deal on an Acura TL, auto, w/Nav? (or w/out Nav) in the Metroplex area? Would appreciate hearing what you learned.

    Thanks!
  • musicman220musicman220 Member Posts: 15
The best deal I was offered in the DFW area was from Vandergriff Acura in Arlington, TX. $32,400 for a 6 speed Manual with Nav. They were also the nicest to deal with.
  • kodurikoduri Member Posts: 1
I am thinking of buying TL w/Navi in Atlanta,Can anybody post the recent deals offered in Atlanta or nearby.

After five months of deliberation I finally purchased a TL in the Houston area for $500 below invoice. This deal was only made possible by the valuable insight received from this forum.

This forum is a fantastic tool for accessing true market value.

    Thank you everybody.

    Which dealership was this?

    Hi,

New to the board. Shopping for a new auto after my piece of...grrr....1998 A6 blew its head gaskets following 84,000+ miles of pedestrian northeastern US city/highway driving.

Test drove both a TL and G35x yesterday. Impression was that the G35x rode much like my Audi, which I ascribed to the AWD. TL was a lot tighter, and I felt every bit of the bumps and berms we encountered on the city portion of our test drive. G35x reminded me of a BMW, and generally speakign (price difference aside) I think it and the TL are two very different automobiles that provide two very different driving experiences. IMO, TL looks (at this early stage) like a *great* value proposition.

Also looked a-yipes-Mazda 3 yesterday. Dealer said they couldn't get me one until the new models arrive in October, and that I'd probably have to preorder by mid-August for that to remain true. But I digress.

We made it clear to the salesman that we were not interested in talking #s, and just wanted to test drive the car. He let us go out unaccompanied, which made a really positive impression right off the bat, but also raised my radar a bit in terms of thinking that he was trying to create a really positive experience b/c maybe their stock wasn't moving. Both Mazda and Infinity salespeople tagged along as-literally-backseat drivers.

Anyway, we get back to the dealership, hand over the keys and request a brochure. As we're walking out, the salesman very casually says, "I can let an '06 with NAVI and automatic (in general, not referring to the test drive car) go for $500 above my cost."

Now, based upon what I've read on this forum, dealer invoice for the car should be in the 32,000-32,500 range; although I've seen some folks here negotiate for less. Sticker on the model we really liked but did not drive was 35.5K.

Does this seem a fair offer? I was a bit surprised that the salesman took the initiative because 9 times out of 10 the party that mentions price first in any negotiation winds up on the wrong end of the stick.

Bought a TL, auto with nav, about 4 weeks ago; great experience dealing with Devan, but they did not have the color I wanted in stock and could not get it in a reasonable time period. In addition to Devan, looked at a few others in the surrounding areas and they were all within $250 of each other - the overall experience was OK - but maybe I expected something more from a premium brand. Devan offered invoice, appeared as if they were willing to go lower if I took a color from stock; plus I like their free oil change for life incentive. Did not pursue as the color was more important to me than a few $. Not sure if things changed in 4 weeks; but I got mine at invoice from a dealer in Poughkeepsie - someone backed out of their purchase for a car that was scheduled to be delivered in two days. After 4 weeks and 1000+ miles, the TL it is a good car. This purchase replaced another Honda product. With a German vehicle in the garage, comparatively, I find that the TL has a lot to offer for the price. Personally, I still prefer the feel and performance of my E39 5 series - now five + years old and may be a candidate for replacement soon.

The best deal I was offered for the 1996 tl was at Santa Monica Acura for $29,900. When I requested bids through the internet (via kelly blue book), I got two. The other was for 30,500. Prices will continue to drop as summer moves on.

Last week..I got my Acura TL from Sierra Acura of Alhambra for $31,700 for a 2006 TL with Navigation( Internet Dept. ), not only did I get a good price, I think the service is unbeatable, I have never had such a great experience in any dealership. I was there for less than 90 minutes total for my purchasing experience. I introduced my sister to get her TL without navigation 2 days ago to them and she got hers for $29,800 for her TL without navi, even she was impressed, knowing my sister, she is one tough cookie to serve. Hey I do not care if I over-paid for my Acura, with that kind painless and straight-forward buying experience, it is all worth it. I know they did not make much from me, but the patience in going through everything with me deserves my time to talk good things about them.
  • tlwannabetlwannabe Member Posts: 7
    Hi Car_Man,

I have been reading some of your posts on different Acura boards and I completely agree that the lease deals on the TLs and TSXs are not very great right now. I live in the Dallas area and the dealership that I have talked to aren't really willing to discount much, nor are they offering very good lease specials. I would like to keep my payments at $375 or below, which I thought I could do on a TL lease. Am I being unrealistic? Do you think that once they release the new RDX and the 2007 TLs and TSXs that they may cut some deals on the 2006 models? Also, if the deals do not get much better, what other models do you think are in the same class but have really good deals going on?
  • laurasdadalaurasdada Member Posts: 5,214
You and your sister both got very good deals! I hope y'all enjoy your TLs as much as I do mine ('05 Abyss Blue non-nav auto)!

I have several bids at around $31,500 for an 06 automatic TL w/Navi -- this is in southern california, and I think we may be able to get better deals than elsewhere in the country.

Is the price without taxes? The lowest i got for TL with NAV for southern cali. is 31,200 + applicable taxes.
  • justalaguyjustalaguy Member Posts: 37
    Portoar,

Which dealer did you get quote of $31,200? Did this price include the Pro pack (wheel locks, splash guards, trunk tray)? Did the dealer give you this quote in writing or via email?

From looking around in the LA South Bay area, lowest I have gotten is $31,500- $31,700 range.
