    musicman,

It seems sales reps are more "eager" to make a deal at the end of the month - to meet their quotas, I guess. So, I would think you can get a lower price at the end of the month. How much lower? Hard to say.
  • rickwjennrickwjenn Member Posts: 40
The 07 is rumored to have some minor syling updates (turn signal lights in mirrors) and maybe more power. A "S-Type" is also speculated.

My price break-down was as follows:
$32,575 including the $615 destination charge
    $277 - DMV Registration
    $2361 - sales tax
    $48.49 - doc fee

    Hope this helps.

I really agonized over waiting for the 07 TL but concluded it would take months to get the car/color I wanted and it will harder to get a good deal until deep into 2007 IMO.

There is a 2006 TL Manual with Nav Black/Parchment on the lot of one of the 4 area Acura dealers. They would not (so far) come down on their quote, which was $33,647 (including all fees except TTL).

As of yesterday they still had the car because I drove out there to check. I have decided to get quotes for a car with the above specifications (including colors) from other area dealers and ask them for a quote if they could locate such a car, knowing that it is sitting on a lot here in the area.

It seems Manual Tranny's with Nav are very rare, so it actually might be harder to get a lower price for them. If anyone knows anything about this, please post.

Where do you live? In the blazing sunshine, White would be a better choice. Black, of course, when clean and shiny looks ab fab. But, Black, rarely stays clean and shiny very long. White hides dirt/imperfections. Black magnifies 'em...

I live in the south...hot as heck right now...I love black...but live near construction = lots of dust!

Ditto here as well. We've got a black Toyota Highlander and I'll never own black again. It shows every spot of dust or paint chip.
  • musicman220musicman220 Member Posts: 15
Well, I've had a black car the last seven years and am about to lay down a deposit on a Black TL Manual with Nav, with Parchment interior. I live in Dallas, and have survived so far with a black car, and I like the look, so there you go.

Washing the car more than usual and using a California duster bestween washes is helpful with a black car. I admit that white would be cooler (tempwise) but I prefer the look of black.

I got a good quote from Vandergriff Acura in Arlington, TX for $32,560 (including all fees including tinting and wheel locks) plus TTL. I guess they are going to trade for the car at Mac Churchill Acura in Fort Worth that Mac Churchill didn't want to let go of for less than $33, 643....I go to lay down a $500 deposit tomorrow at Vandergriff.

If you get as depressed as I do when your car is not clean and shiny, and can't wash it a couple of times a week, well, Black will make you sad. I've got an Abyss Blue TL, winter drives me nuts, because there's just no way to keep it clean and shiny during a New England winter for any lenght of time. This is my first darker color in quite some time and I'm not sure I'm emotionally equipped to handle another dark color...

Evil wife's Lexus is white, it just looks cleaner. Even when it's not.

If you do go Black, zainostore.com. It'll help...

Many people on this board claim they are getting new TLs with NAVI for around $32,600, plus or minus a few bucks. That's just about invoice. How do dealers and salesmen make money on that? Ok, they probably have a holdback, about 3% or so, but what about the salesman's commission? There's not a lot of room there for much profit. So what gives?
  • musicman220musicman220 Member Posts: 15
I don't know, bartalk. My other two quotes were both above 33,600. I think part of it was that I got a very low internet quote from one of the dealers as a response to a query that I submitted through pricequotes.com. Only one dealer in my area participated in their program, and they immediately sent me a great quote that my salesman had to honor.

Also, this is the last week of the month, so allocation time is fast approaching. I also suspect that the invoice price they quote is higher than the actual invoice price, based on the invoice price I saw on a pricing report from Consumer Reports that I purchased for the Acura TL.

Here is the link to the appropriate price quotes page:

Been reading posts about the black vs white color. Two things:

    1. What do the readers think about the Burgundy color? Acura calls it Redondo Red Pearl. It is the first TL my wife and I test drove and fell in love with. Had parchment interior and was "rich looking" with the wood trim. Yet, we started looking at other colors and are undecided as to which color. Any thoughts on the Redondo Red Pearl?

    2. Thought I saw like a grayish green TL, wasn't sure if it was a 2005 (last year's color) or not. Anyone seen this color?

Thanks for all the posts. I enjoy reading them and hope to join the TL community soon.
  • justalaguyjustalaguy Member Posts: 37
I agree with musicman. As much as I respect the dealers, and their wanting to make a profit, I think they are making more profit than they lead us to believe. In other words, the "invoice price" the dealer supposedly paid, is probably less than what they actually pay to the manufacturer. Throw in the holdback and the dealer does well (my opinion).

Afterall, you see very few car dealerships that go out of business. So they must be making more money somehow. Some dealers want us to "think" by us trying to buy a car for the lowest price, we are ruining them.

    Just my two cents worth.

I am interested in purchasing a new TL w/ nav from a state with no sales tax. This could be either Delaware or Oregon both of which I travel to a couple of times each year. I live in Florida and would save 6.5% tax, around $2400.00 Does anyone know if this is legal in Florida or would I have to pay tax when registering the car in FL? Has anyone from Florida on this forum done this recently?

    Thanks for the input

You will have to pay Florida state sales tax when you register your car there... no way around it..

I went for the Anthracite in the TL and bought my wife an Accord EXL with the Redondo Red - it is beautiful. We like the quartz/grey interior and thus didn't go with Redondo Red on the TL.

You are right - no green for the 06 TL - must of been previous year.

Was quoted 31,100 at Gillman. 31,200 at Champion and 31,300 and John Eagle. Told Eagle of Gillman's price and got 31K. Then Told Champion that I was planning on visiting Sterling McCall as that is where I test drove and they are nearest to my house, but if that did not work out then I would go to the dealer giving me the best quote. Said that at 30,800 They would be my first alternative. At 30,500 I would go straight there and buy with no negotiation. They came back with 30,800 and two years free oil changes. Since that was not 30,500 I went into Sterling McCall. Offered 30,500 but was turned down immediately. Finally told them of my champion offer and they said it couldn't be done. They even called Champion. Finally after me insisting that they at least match, they gave me 30,800 and mud gaurds instead of oil changes. At this point I accepted since nobody seemed to want to go lower. While I was doing this Champion left a message on my cell saying that General Manager would make it worth my while to leave Sterling McCall. Since I had already agreed, I didn't follow up. I figure 30,700 as mud guards are worth a hundred.

I don't know cars so please don't flame me. I'm interested in buying a 2006 tl nav. What specs should I get? I don't wanna get scammed by a salesman, so what are some quotes do you guys think I will get from Nyc and NJ dealers? If you guys would buy a new tl now, what would you guys get for your car?

    Thanks
  • rishipriship Member Posts: 65
Buying a TL in NY/NJ is very easy. Just decide manual or auto, nav or no nav. It should be about 32,600 for the nav. Many dealers will give you that price. If you want to avoid confrontation just email a few dealers and go to the closest one with that price.

I'm trying to negotiate for 6 spd TL w/Nav. I paid for the pricing guide from a reputable consumer mag, and noticed something odd. A TL w/summer tires retails for slightly more than one with standard tires, but according to the pricing report the invoice is about $1600 less. Some quotes I've received seem to support this pricing structure. Anyone else run into this issue. It makes negotiating very difficult.
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,543
I would guess that the invoice price they list doesn't include NAV.. The summer tire model is about $200 more... This would be accurate whether it was NAV or non-NAV..

I'd say your pricing guide has a typo...

It includes the nav. The strange thing is I got a quote from a CA dealer on a nav summer tire model that's about $1200 less than anything I can find locally (around invoice), but they same exterior colors aren't all available. The big discrepancy supports the lower invoice prices for the nav/summer tire model. Can someone enlighten me??

Price was a couple hundred below invoice--$32,575. 2.9% financing available for another month. It does pay to shop the end of the month--pressure on salesmen to meet or exceed monthly quotas.

Too much info floating around for anyone to get scammed, unless they did not do their research. The key here is to find someone who you like to work with and will make you feel comfortable handing over $30K+, and perhaps buying your next car from them. As others have stated, there are only a few options, auto/manual, nav/no nav - if manual, summer tires or not. On the dealer side, there are incentives that comes with buying a car from them (not part of the neg.) such as wheel locks (DCH and others,) free oil change for life (Devan,) etc. Prices all seem to be within +/- $250 of each other and/or invoice; though I enjoy the "sport" and "excitement" when dealing with a sales man and driving hard for mud guards, moldings, etc., I value my free time a lot more. Bought mine from DCH Heart since the guy was great to work with and they had the color I wanted; but would have bought from Devan (also great to work with and would have had free oil change for life) if they had the color I wanted.

I've seen some members here said they got their dealers to include a Protection Package with their TL purchase. What is included in the Pro Pack?
From what I've read it seems to include wheel locks, cargo tray, and splash guards. Can anyone confirm? Does it also include all-season mats?
  • justalaguyjustalaguy Member Posts: 37
I've been told by several dealers that the Protection Package includes what you've included. That is, wheel locks, cargo tray, and splash guards. It does not include all-season mats as far as I know. Yet, why not try to include that in your negotiations? Maybe instead of wheel locks a dealer can substitute the all season mats. Hey, we all can dream, right? haha

Thanks to all for your postings on this site.
Your knowledge helped me to go to the dealership
    with pricing information.

    Ramsey Acura is the dealership
TL NAV (Anthracite exterior with black leather interior)
32500 car price (includes pro pack + allweather mats +
    carpet mats + side mouldings)
    NJ tax 6% = 1950
    534 for ( dmv + doc fee + tyre tax )

Price 34984 OTD (Out of the door)
Car has 6 miles when brought out of dealership.
  • gonein60secgonein60sec Member Posts: 56
Suva, Congrats on your new TL and your great deal. Thanks for sharing your info. Ramsey was one of the dealerships I was looking at too. They quoted me $32,785 for the TL w/Nav via the internet back on 6/20/06. Did you go through Ramsey's internet department? What other dealerships did you check out?

Can you break down your $534 fee between the dmv, doc fee and tire tax? I know one other dealer said that NJ charges a $7.50 tire tax, so how much does Ramsey charge for doc fees?

My neighbor has a TL - dark red - with splash guards - I would have paid extra to have them taken off - the only thing that looks worse is when you see a car with clear film protectant all over the front & around the wheel areas (3M I think makes it) - I would rather have a few scratches.

Maybe if I lived someplace that salted the roads or I had to drive on gravel roads all the time my feelings would change.

The side molding would be OK - but I like the look better without them - cost was close to $300. Do the side moldings really protect from door dings? What is the chance it lines up with the door on the jerks car?
  • justalaguyjustalaguy Member Posts: 37
Curious if your neighbor's TL is a 2006? That was the first color (called Redondo Red Pearl) that we looked at and liked the combination with the parchment interior. Since then, I have read about the parchment interior staining very easily from jeans and the leather cracking. Will probably go with the Silver with Quartz interior now.

Also am considering adding body side mouldings, but it seems like most TL owners are not opting for the side mouldings. You are right in that the TL looks better without them. Not sure how much extra protection they provide anyway.
  • z71billz71bill Member Posts: 1,986
Its a 2005 (I think) - he has had it about a year - only has 8,000 miles - even though they love the car - will trade it in on a Honda pilot - needs the extra room -

Wife & I both wanted the silver / quartz - until she saw the anthracite - in our opinion made the siver look kind of plain.

I am buying a 5-year old Acura, a 2001 Acura 3.2TL with Navigation, with 100,000 miles on it for $10,995. Is this a good deal? I am also thinking about taking extended warranty along with this from WarrantyDirect/Penn Warranty? Do you think this is good idea?

    Your suggestions are really appreciated.

was this for a auto TL with Navi????
I have just started search for tl with navi auto trans with these same dealers. How do you get them to throw in little extras protection pack tint , etc. JOhn eagle quoted me 32999 for one with navi (no extras)
  • rishipriship Member Posts: 65
No. Mine was without nav. So I guess an equivilant price would be about 32.5. Is john eagle your lowest quote. They were my highest by about 200. John eagle offered me two years free oil changes. I'd pick the two furthest of the four dealers and offer 32.5. If you'd like tint raise your offer by a 100. Sterling Mccall guy told me his cost was about 170 though and I should just go get it done at executive tint on hillcroft for 140. champion told me 100 for tint.

I'd probably just take a dealer with a little higher quote, tell them you have a lower quote but will buy with no negotiation for 32.5. It seeems to me that internet quotes will get you within 500 of the lowest price in Houston. If you want that last 500 you have to argue for it.
  • look4valuelook4value Member Posts: 5
Appreciate the tips on approaching the dealer....it is between Gillman and John Eagle as Champion was even higher.
John eagle is offering the 2 year of oil changes. I am not sure which dealer has better service. I want to buy the car for 32,500. I think that would do it for me.
  • daisy9daisy9 Member Posts: 9
This is the price I just paid for my 2006 TL w/ NAV. I pick it up tomorrow.
    Price includes:

    TL with NAV-anthracite with quartz-
    rear spoiler-deck lid type
    trunk mat
    all-weather mats
and all taxes (3.5%) tags, and fees
I feel we got a good deal.

After weeks and weeks of reading this site and the infiniti forum I decided the acura was a better choice- though it was a tough decision. Thanks to all of you who post here. The information I received was extremely valuable.

I test drove my car straight off the truck. 21 miles on it now, all from me.
    Can't wait until tomorrow.
  • daisy9daisy9 Member Posts: 9
This price also included all oil changes, inspections, and car washes when car brought in for service.
  • bass1977bass1977 Member Posts: 1
Where in VA did you get this deal?

I'm up in Northern VA and am looking to purchase an 06 Manual TL w/NAV in the next couple of days.

This does look like a good deal. Can you tell me where you got it?
  • daisy9daisy9 Member Posts: 9
I live in Virginia Beach, but bought the car in Chesapeake. My car- which I picked up today and really enjoy driving- is an automatic, just an fyi.
I have to say we love all of the electronic stuff. Being able to say "temperature 70", or "call home" and having the car do it is so much fun.

If you want value, buy your TL from Goodson in Dallas. They are quoting $32,260 via internet. I am also in the market for a TL in Houston. I will probably wait til the end of July and then work a deal with Goodson or Gillman. Good luck.
  • jerseyguy3jerseyguy3 Member Posts: 7
I agree on the internet method. Got a quote of $32,290 for TL with navi in South Jersey. Upon visiting the dealer they threw in the Pro Pack (already had the wheel locks on the car) and all weather mats. Hope to firm up the deal this week.(was out of town for the holiday). Oh and I was told the 2.9 and 4.9% financing is good to July 31st. Am really excited to start enjoying the TL.
This site has been tremendous for info and opinions. Thank you.
  • gonein60secgonein60sec Member Posts: 56
Can you share the name of the dealership in South Jersey. I'm looking for the TL in the NY/NJ area. Haven't decided if I want Navi or not yet.
  • jerseyguy3jerseyguy3 Member Posts: 7
Yes, Sussman Acura. Also received a quote w/o Navi for 30,490. Wasn't sure myself about Navi myself either but once I tried it out decided it was worth it. Good luck!

Let's say you've negotiated a price, bought the car, and the salesman takes you out to the lot to choose the car you want. Let's say he's got 4 or 5 in your color and with the equipment you want.

Which one do you choose? I look them all over, of course, and make sure fit and finish is good and no body damage. All other things equal I choose the car with the lowest mileage. But here's something else. On the driver's door jam is the date the vehicle was assembled. I choose the car with the latest assembly date because a recent date means that it's been baking in the sun in the dealer's lot the least amount of time. Also, if Acura is making continuous improvements to the model, the latest one assembled is most likely to have the most recent improvements.

    What do you think?

What do you guys think I could get a 6-Speed No Nav for in the RI/MA area. Trying First Acura as they seem to be the best. Looking to Lease for 3 years or so.
