P.S. Hokidee, which dealership did you get your TL from?
I don't understand this statement. You are the buyer here. Push as hard as you are able for the best value to YOU. If the dealer isn't comfortable with the deal then no sale. Remember he's also selling you a potential future profit stream from service work. Good luck.
The non-navs are plentiful, so don't hesitate to get a lower price. What was the actual price they offered ?
I purchased the green/parchement and am very happy with my decision. Good luck.
jmaxe: I was being a bit sarcastic with my comment that you quoted. I could honestly care less what they think, and am certainly NOT in this to wind any friends....LOL!! I was pretty zonked when I was there yesterday, and forgot to inquire about some of those "little items" that can sometimes fall through the cracks. That being said, I will certainly address them today (protection kit, tire situation, etc).
eglewis: I think got the lowest I can, but I'm always leery that they're still holding out (which I'm sure they are). I pretty much gave them invoice price (as per Edmunds), accounted for destination charge, added in TTL, and stuck by my number...31,500, out the door:
29,700 (invoice ala Edmunds)
545 (destination)
1,400 (TTL)
-------
31,645
Hence, as it appears, I'm actually a little...*gasp*....below invoice (er, I think...LOL!!!). If anyone knows where I could try to trim something out, I'd certainly be willing to give it a shot. As mentioned, I'll get them to add in the protection package, but am not sure what else I can try for? Ultimately, I'm not beholden to them in particular, and have no problem walking away, if necessary. I've got a little time to play with, and the ball really IS in their court...:-)
But even with this fee, you've negotiated an AMAZING deal! It shows how badly Acura miscalculated with NAVI vs. non-NAVI ratios. Pohanka's site shows 60 non-NAVI cars in the inventory. I know that about 5 of them are probably sold, but that's still a HUGE number.
Dulnev: Pretty good call there on your part. The deal I negotiated was at Pohanka, and yes, they've got a TON of TL's (w/o Navi) on the lot. I was never really interested in a $2K+ "toy", so going w/o the Navi was never even a second thought (no offense to everyone, but I can read a map....LOL!!). They tried to start me at $32.5K, out the door, but I told them they were WAY off what I could/would afford to spend (particularly in light of the fact that they have SO many non-Navi's just sitting there). I gave them the numbers I posted, told them I was willing to finance $6k (which I'm pre-approved through my Credit union at 2.9%), and that I would have payments of NO MORE than $185/month. Forunately the settlement from my last car (BMW 325) will bring me about $26K, so I could work with these numbers. Them hemmed & hawwed, and when I got up to leave, the sale's manager said "I'll give you your price if you buy it today". Strangely enough, "end of month" was magically extended for a day....LOL!! Was actually not able to make it back up with the wife last night(she wants to drive the car before buying), but they agreed to take my credit card to hold the car through today (shocker). To be honest, I'm not usually much of a negotiator, but the combination of them being SO overstocked, and me being SO sleep deprived (lousy work schedule), made for a good combination. I was irritable enough to walk, and they seemed to sense it....LOL!!
Ironically, I'd actually gone to Radley on Saturday to do the first test drive, as they're only 15 minutes from my house. Unforunately (for me) they were swamped, and i knew there was NO WAY I'd get any kind of a deal. I let it go, and moved on to test drive some other stuff.
As for the "documentation fee" that VA dealers are so kind as to add, like I told them at Pohanka, "$31.5 out the door....period". I have no problem walking away at this point, as I'm still contemplating an Accord (if necessary). I know, I know....I read ALL the posts yesterday on the TL Vs Accord page, but it's an option I'll keep open (for leverage, if nothing else)

anyone can provide any info in So Cal priceing
and which dealer ?
Johnny
But not to worry, you also can delete all those extra posts! There's always a blue delete button to the right of your posts (provided you are logged in, of course).
Hope this helps.
30299 included destination. Pohanka's $249 garbage fee + TTL. I had purchased a 97 CL from there and have been real impressed with the level of service. I got the price I wanted.
Glad you took someone's advice and good hooked on the TL ;-)
Hokiedee: Good to hear that they're giving out such good deals on a regular basis. My wife and I are going to make one stop at the Honda dealer (just to satisfy her) then head back up to Pohanka to get the car....:-)
I worked through a broker to get $1245 Cdn off MSRP on a Desert Mist AT/Navi model with wheel locks, trunk tray and winter mats thrown in. Dealers here in Toronto are still selling Navis at MSRP, so he earned his keep on this one. He also bumped the initial offer on my 97 Maxima trade in by $300.
This combination (Navi and Desert Mist) is apparently a rare one and there was only one in Ontario and no more expected for 3 months. The dealer was about to trade it, but my broker acted fast and snagged it for me. He brings it to my door prepped and licensed and will drive away in the Max on Thursday morning.
I couldn't be happier, but I suspect it will be a few weeks before my left foot stops looking for a clutch. After all, there's been one there for the past 30 years.
I brought Falken 512's to the dealer today so they can swap them out for the Turanza's when the car comes in. I have a Redondo Red/Parchment/Navi just off the line, on the truck, and on it's way.
Hope to get it no later than Saturday. I'll hit Niagara on the Lake in a few weeks for my first road trip.....
Test drove the TL at my Toledo/Sylvania Ohio dealer two weeks ago. Fell in love with the manual with Nav. Even though my lease is not up till July, I told the sales guy, give me a ball park lease price (sign and drive, I have a Honda lease now, so security dep. is waived) for 4 years, 12k. He said $485. Add $50 for nav. Based the $485 on Cap cost of $32k. Run the lease numbers, he is certainly killing me on the money factor.
No problem. Check out here, find Nav. prices for $33,500 or so and non nav. of $31,000 or so. Email him with those, and the current money factor and residuals from Honda, giving monthly payments of $390 for non nav. (compared to his $485) and $475 for nav. (compared to $535).
He says he can work with those numbers and "make my case for me". Whatever. You would think when a customer gives a sales guy that much info (and he knows there are 15 dealers within 170 miles) he can stop playing the word games.
Long and short of it, we agreed to talk again when I need to order on May 1, and price will be in the range I told him (of course, prices are headed down, not up, so mine will be going down too).
Anyway, I will update when I get a final number worked out, but if I had to pull the trigger today, I would be getting 6-speed Nav with PP for $33,500. We will see if I can get that down in the next two months.
bodble2 - I got 7K for the Max. It was less than I hoped for, but it was a 5 speed and had 183K on it making it hard to sell privately.
msf2 - I've pared the decision down to Michelin Pilot Sport A/S and the Falken 512. I basically depends on price and which dealer will give me a changeover price and take the OEMs. I'll let you know how it turns out.
Oh well, I guess I did not get such a great deal after all.
Out of principle, I'd take my business to Falls Church, but that's just me.
You did good hoyahenry, I paid more than you did. I wish I had the nav one but the fun of having this car make me forget. :-)
---
lowest i've got is 31300 for auto/without any pkg.
probably can get couple hundred lower when sitting down to negotiate, but its nothing like 30200 like some of the east coast ppl are getting... anybody here in So Cal can give me some help ?
Like about half of you here, I am looking to purchase a ’04 TL (AT w/ navigation). I live in the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles and the nearest convenient Acura dealership is Keyes Acura off of Van Nuys Blvd. Needless to say that will be my initial stop when shopping for the TL unless anyone else has any recommendations on another dealership in the area that you have had a really good experience with.
Any info on pricing would be a huge help also. From what I have read, the Navi. versions are a bit more rare and therefore a bit more pricey, any comments? Is $31,000 – $32,000 wishful thinking on my part?
Thank you in advance for your response and keep up the good posts!
jusuni - I have heard some good thing about Keyes Acura on another message board, though I have no personal experience with them. To be honest, trying to get 31-32K on a navi model is not wishful thinking, it's more like dreaming. Invoice on the Navi is over 32k (including destination charge) and most dealers are charging very near MSRP on them. If you get close to 1k off MSRP, it is probably a good deal. Good luck.
i will probably order the car by the end of this week...
Can anyone recommend an Acura dealer in Arizona? Details regarding your deal and experience would be helpful.
Incidentally, I'm looking for a non-nav TL.
Also was the 2.9% financing extended?
Thanks!
2004 TL non-Navi, Silver exterior, Ebony interior
$31700 (includes dest charge)
+ ttl
+ 6.5% sales tax
They also threw in tint (black all around), all-weather mats, and wheel locks. So with these extras, I guess I didn't really feel that bad paying $1K over invoice. Plus I got the 2.9% financing from American Honda.
I also traded in a 91 Mazda for its KBB value of $700. (They wanted to pay $500 for it at first but I wanted to pay $31000 even and they accepted.)
I think I did ok considering the extras above and the trade-in (the Mazda also had dings from a recent hailstorm).
After reading some recent articles in this forum, it looks like some folks are getting some decent TL deals around the country. (Any recent buying experiences from anyone in Texas? TIA ...)
Thx
The 2.9% financing was mentioned to me by a friend. I don't know where he heard it from but he knew I was interested in an Acura. The dealership nor the Acura website wasn't even advertising it. But when I asked, they said they'll check and they accepted. They also said it expired last weekend. That was here in Plano, TX anyway. I'm not sure about the rest of the country.
BTW, Hinshaw's Acura basically screwed us by selling the car that we had been negotiating over the phone that day, and we were just about to drive to the dealership to finalize the deal. Seattle Acura was absolutely unwilling to deal, and they have a 4-8wk wait. Bellevue Acura never returned calls or email until we were sitting at the Lynnwood Acura.
Purchased today: non-navi AT anthracite/ebony at Radley Acura in Falls Church. Had absolutely wonderful buying experience: showed them the printout about 31.5K out the door deals from this forum, they agreed immediately: I drove a wonderful car off the lot 2 hours later. Tried to get the same deal from Pohanka 2 days ago: they tried to haggle and in the end didn't agree. In general I like Radley much much better even though I live close to Pohanka. One more nice touch: Radley gives you 2 years of free maintenance if you buy in March ( Pohanka doesn't ).
