    Hi All:

I just received a quote for an 05 TL w/ Auto (non-NAVI) - Abyss Blue w/ Quartz for $30,887 and w/ NAVI for $32,688 from Libertyville Acura here in Illinois. It is for the wife but for those that are price shopping, this was not a bad start for the Chicago area including the recent Honda markup. We had a good experience when purchasing the MDX from them 2 years ago and I hope this purchase will be the same.

    Good Luck

Thank you to all involved with this excellent forum. After much research and reading 3 months of postings, we were able to negotiate a silver with black interior TL w/ Nav for $33,800 which included about $1200 worth of dealer installed extras (side molding, lid spoiler and protection package). Also, the new TLs with Nav come with Michelin tires and not the Bridgestones (the salesman told me the non-nav cars still come with the Bridgestones).

It is very difficult here in upstate New York to buy a higher end car because there are only one dealer in town for each brand, including Acura, and therefore the negotiation options are limited. This forum helped us determine what was a fair price.

Although the salesmen did not think this forum was worth anything, I disagree. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER.

    Thanks,
    Gary

Has anyone had any experience with the 3 Acura dealer's in the Atlanta metro area? I am looking to buy a TL '05 auto non-navi. Got a first price quote from Nalley at 32,500 (which seems high) and $31,500 from Baranco. Will be visiting Ed Voyles tomorrow. I have noticed that all of these dealers have a large TL inventory (40+) that have not changed much over the course of February. I was hoping to get this car at or below invoice - does this seem reasonable?
    Thanks,

    Wayne,

Have you tried McGrath Acura in Westmont? A friend just purchased a TSX from them at invoice, working with the internet manager. I am contemplating trading my Saab for a new TL. Let us know if you pull the trigger.
  • xcelxcel Member Posts: 1,025
    Hi Needashower:

Thanks for the tip. My Insurance agents husband is a tech at McGrath - Westmont and not only recommend the TL over the Accord EX V6 but said you may as well try them if Acura of Libertyville does not come through with the right deal. I am taking the MDX in tomorrow for a TIV assessment and might head on down to McGrath’s other store on the North side. Pauly has always been a rip any time we have tried to purchase Acura’s or Honda’s so I won’t even bother with them.

    Thanks again

Actually, for cars delivered to dealers in late February, the MSRP has been bumped up. My TL auto with navi has a total MSRP (including dest chg) of $35,670 (was $35,470 previously).

I don't know how this affects invoice, but I'm sure it makes it at least $175 higher.

I noticed on Edmunds, they have updated the MSRP but now are not showing anything for invoice.

I got my number from a competitor's (to Edmunds) website. I know, shame on me. :-)

    Kiev5,

I'd think today would be the day to negotiate hard to purchase today (the last of the month) to buy a car off the lot. I feel this would be one of the best times to get a good deal. Starting next month, sales will pick up as well.

    Good luck.

PS: $32,500 is what some are paying for a TL WITH nav! You should be able to get without nav for somewhere in the 30's to 31 range.

That invoice price of 32,373 is that with dest chg?
  • kiev5kiev5 Member Posts: 2
Thanks LifeRules - I did go by the dealership today - unfortunately I am not buying until next Monday, and couldn't take advantage of the end of the month. I do think I will get the car in the 30's with what I heard today. Will leave a post of my experience next week. Thanks for responding! KO

Hi, been shopping for 2005 TL w/ Nav anywhere in Texas. Which dealership offers the best price? I have a total driveout quote for $35,800. Is this good? Please help! Thanks!
  • liferulesliferules Member Posts: 531
    Joecoolbcl,

People have been getting anywhere from $32,200 to $33,500 on average (not including TTL). IMO, above $33,500 is too much in the current market. $35,800 for final price is pretty good if it doesn't include trade-in. That averages out to appx. $32,300-32,400 before TTL.

    Best wishes.

Any good deals in the detroit area for 2005 TL with nav?? Jeffery Acura offered a price of $33,750. How does this sound?
  • wisngamecockwisngamecock Member Posts: 52
Those numbers are close to what I paid at Acura of Libertyville late in Dec. 04. They were very professional, up front and solid to deal with. The car ('05 Black TL non-Navi 6 sp) is great! I also drove both a 4 and 6 cyl Accord and was underwhelmed. If your goal is practical worry free transportation get the Accord. If your goal is practical worry-free transportation with some spice and style, then get the TL! This car puts a smile on my face every time I turn the key.

You are about $1000 above some of the best prices posted for TL with Nav. Not terrible, but not as low as other posts you'll find. Local market conditions will dictate what you can get. If you're willing to travel a few hours, you could easily beat this price in Chicago. Otherwise, use the web to get as many local quotes as you can. Use these as a starting point in negotiations. You could also try bringing a quote from Chicago and see if the local dealer with match. Good luck.

Acura of Libertyville's sales manager replied to an internet query, quoting $33,455 for an '05 Abyss Blue TL 6sp Manual w/NAVI and these dealer-installed items:

    All-season floor mats (list 132)
    Door edge trim (list 75)
    Splash guards (list 89)
    Body side molding (list 175)
    Wheel locks (49)
    (TOTAL accessories 520)

Opinions? According to cars.com (sorry, Edmunds, your invoice pricing is still missing!), a TLw/NAVI invoice is 30,164 base + 570 destination + 1,821 NAVI = $32,555 total.

This means that Acura of Libertyville is quoting roughly $500 over invoice...sound good?

They said that price expired end of month.

I have an acquaintance who works for an Acura dealer in GA, and according to him, the invoice for an '05 TL without NAV has gone up $200 from $30,146 to $30,346. Including the $570 dest, that comes out to $30,916. I'm seeing some posts here saying they've been quoted a price in the $30's. How are some of you guys getting at or below invoice? I live in Houston, and I'd love to have a deal at or near invoice as my wife and I are also shopping for a TL without NAV. The quotes I've gotten so far are nowhere even near invoice.
  • liferulesliferules Member Posts: 531
I wouldn't let them confuse you with the accessories unless you specifically wanted them. Focus on the bottom line price for a TL with nav. Most people are getting in the upper 32's to lower 33's. Your price isn't bad but could be a few hundred better. Bound it off another dealer and see what they can do...
  • krislkrisl Member Posts: 3
Thanks for all the valuable info that everyone is posting here. I have a quote of $33,100 (including destination of $570) for a 2005 TL w/NAV from a local dealer. After talking for a while they are ready to throw in the splash guards, wheel locks and trunk tray for that price. I cant seem to get them to go any lower. Any thoughts on closing the deal at this price ?
  • bmwdougbmwdoug Member Posts: 248
What dealer? I am looking at at buying a TL with NAV in the Bay Area as well. Can you please tell me the dealer? Thank you.
  • liferulesliferules Member Posts: 531
    Krisl,

Don't commit to the current dealer just yet. I suggest you 1st call or email the other dealer(s) and "thank" them for their assistance but that you're going with another dealership as you received the best deal there. I bet you'll get another round of bids... I know, when I bought my TL, I was kicking myself as I received more than $1000 lower bids w/in 2 days from 2 other dealerships!
  • greg945greg945 Member Posts: 7
You guessed right...those are the accessories that I specifically requested.

Sounds like I am pretty much on target. If the going rate is, say, 33K (between the high 32s and low 33s), then adding $500 worth of accessories gets the price to $35K.

Granted, I should look for some discount on the dealer-installed accessories, since the margin on them is much higher than on the car itself.

What dealership is selling TL with navi for 32200? I'd buy!! The local dealer is reluctant to give me an internet price. The best price quote is $33000, but from a dealer in the Chicago area about 1500 miles from my residence. Any good leads in the Phoenix, Denver or possibly Dallas areas?
  • liferulesliferules Member Posts: 531
No dealer in his/her right mind is going to quote anyone 32,200. This is the price some have gotten after final negotiations. You can do likewise.
  • lmacmillmacmil Member Posts: 1,758
Only about 1% but that should translate into slightly better deals, I think.

I bought my 2005 TL w/o Nav in Houston, TX on New Year's Eve for $34,100, drive-out. It included window tint, wheel locks, and 8 free oil changes. I also got the 2.9% financing. Which dealerships have you received quotes? What kind of deals are available now?
  • charliewcharliew Member Posts: 14
    klee3,

I've gotten quotes from Sterling McCall and John Eagle, and both are $500 over invoice (at $31,416 + TTL) for a TL without NAV. At your price of $34,100 drive-out, that comes out to be about $31,900 before TTL, which is $1,000 above invoice. However, you did get some stuff thrown in and the 2.9% financing which isn't available now. Which dealer did you purchase your TL from?
  • cashvillecashville Member Posts: 13
He said he got the car on New Year's Eve that was still in 2004 it 2.9 finacing was avilable then
  • charliewcharliew Member Posts: 14
Yes, I know. That's why I said $1,000 over invoice is higher than my quote now, but at least klee3 did get some stuff thrown in and the 2.9% financing, which is no longer being offered now. Where in my previous post did I dispute the terms of his deal?
  • liferulesliferules Member Posts: 531
FYI, if any of you belong to a credit union, check the auto loan rates there. I found a 2.9% for my wife in February at Metro.

    Spiderman32,
Did you get your car? The $31,052 is about as good as I've seen on the west coast for a TL no nav.

Just wondering - anybody go the Costco route? My feeling is most people on this site can and do better on their own. Appreciate any feedback.
    Thanks,

I am getting confused! Most of the postings I am reading today indicate an average price paid for a 05 TL W/Nav + Auto are about $32,000. But Edmonds says the ave. price being paid in the Pacific Northwest is right at MSRP.

Go figure! What am I missing?
  • charliewcharliew Member Posts: 14
Wow, that's a great price for an '05 without NAV. I'd jump on that deal if it were offered here in Houston. I'm still working the local dealers to see if they'll go below $500 over invoice ($31,416).
  • liferulesliferules Member Posts: 531
    MTLK,

I don't think anyone said they're getting $32K, it's usually 32,500-33,500. The best I've heard is $32,200 and that is a phenomenal price.

As to Edmunds, I can't say where they get their numbers, but they were pretty far off when I bought my TL as well.

    Best wishes.
  • wisngamecockwisngamecock Member Posts: 52
I think the TMV numbers are a reflection of national data. Perhaps they don't totally reflect local market differences. Also, I think TMV reflects prices paid by a cross section of buyers, so the data includes the sucker who pays sticker because the sales man says 'these cars sell at sticker price'. I suspect these forum postings reflect the low end of the market. By definition, people in these forums are using pricing comparison and the web to leverage a lower price.
  • ptwellsptwells Member Posts: 18
    Charliew,
where does the $31,416 come from? I thought cost (30,182) + dest. chg.(570) put it at $30,752? Am I missing something?
    thanks

I am looking at a TL in the Boston are w/o nav. Any info you can give me would be greatly appreciated? Did you purchase this vehicle from Clair? You final price was $30752? Did you do a trade too?

Anything will help. Thanks a lot.
  • laurasdadalaurasdada Member Posts: 5,208
    Hi, Spikes:
I shopped Clair and Acura of Boston, purchasing from A of B. Both pleasant experiences but Clair wouldn't budge from a lowball offer on my trade. Price at Clair was just above invoice + ad fee, $30,800. I think they would have gone lower, but can't be sure. Also, I was negotiating the week after Christmas hoping for year end deals.

After about 45 minutes of negotiation at A of B, I bought an '05 non-nav auto TL at invoice plus half of the ad fee (claimed by both Clair and A of B to be $200). So, I paid $30,650 (and got 2.9% financing which, unfortunately, expired Jan. 5 I believe. Check Acura/Honda website to see if they're offering any financing deals. That's how I learned of the 2.9%, neither salesman at the two dealers knew about it!). They gave me 50% more for my trade, which was still about 25% less than I was shooting for... Oh, well. That's what I get for buying a Chrysler! (300M, loved it. Still miss the driver's seat ingress/egress function and auto headlights that the TL lacks. Gee, how lazy am I?!). I also got a quote from Herb Connolly, but it was high so I didn't pursue.

The Internet sales manage at A of B claimed they will never lose a sale because of price. I think they are the largest Acura dealer in Mass (New England?), so I believe it.

Great car, terrible tires in the snow though. Good luck.

'21 Dark Blue/Black Audi A7 PHEV (mine); '22 White/Beige BMW X3 (hers); '20 Estoril Blue/Oyster BMW M240xi 'Vert (Ours, read: hers in 'vert weather; mine during Nor'easters...)

Will be moving there shortly, would just as soon buy one there. Any feedback from recent purchases (i.e. price, customer satisfaction, etc.)? I have just purchased on '04 Desert Mist (9,500 miles) with Navi andrear deck spoiler for $30,200, which I think is a good deal, but if the price is right, would upgrade to the '05.
  • liferulesliferules Member Posts: 531
You're going to turn in a bought '04 for a new '05? I can't see how you can do this without taking a big hit money-wise.

Is getting an '05 that different from your '04?
  • pashipashi Member Posts: 16
I probably wasn't clear enough in my post. I just purchased the 2004. I could be wrong, but I think $30,200 is a very good price for the 2004 Navi, even without the $499 spoiler option. I honestly thought I would need to pay in the neighborhood of $34K to $34.5K for a 2005, but it sounds like the dealers can be worked a bit more. The closest posted price I had seen for a 2004 with less than 10K miles was in the $32K range. I would consider selling the 2004 for $31K+, and pay the difference for a new 2005.
  • aaarghaaargh Member Posts: 230
Why would anyone pay $31K (or even 28K) for a used 2004 when you can get a new 2005 (w/navi) for $33K?
