Completed purchase of Anthracite/Ebony, no Navi, A/T with pro. pak at Hubler Acura. 31,099+TTL

Libertyville near chicago was just under 31k and Ed Martin (my closest dealer) would only go as low as 31,400. All 3 dealers were easy to work with and very professional.

I love the car. Always looking for excuses to get in it.

Sounds like a lot of people have been doing quite well with their negotiations at the end of July. Make sure to share your purchase experiences to assist others.

Congrats to all the new TL owners. You will enjoy your TLs for years to come.

Bought above from Acura of Orange Park in Jacksonville this weekend. I'm in Atlanta but based on an earlier poster's comments, thought I would give these folks a try.

Experience with the internet manager was an A. He's a little tough to get through to sometimes but followed through on everything he said he would do.

I paid $32,555 inclu. destination, plusTTL. They didn't have the color combination I wanted and had to truck in from Atlanta, of all places. Counting my plane fare, I think I saved $800 off the best offer I got from local dealerships. It took a good part of the five hour drive back home to figure out some of the features on audio/NAV. Very cool stuff.

I already knew other people were seeing lower #'s in other parts of the country but I got the car I wanted, paid roughly the amount I had in mind, and now own a car that's seems like it's going to be an absolute groove to drive.

Many thanks to other posters - There's no question that I paid less based on what I learned here.

"I already knew other people were seeing lower #'s in other parts of the country but I got the car I wanted, paid roughly the amount I had in mind, and now own a car that's seems like it's going to be an absolute groove to drive"

That paragraph sums it up nicely. Don't obsess about other people's deals. If you've got the deal you want on the car you want, then live long and prosper! (Not to mention that's not a bad price at all).

    Congrats and enjoy!

'21 Dark Blue/Black Audi A7 PHEV (mine); '22 White/Beige BMW X3 (hers); '20 Estoril Blue/Oyster BMW M240xi 'Vert (Ours, read: hers in 'vert weather; mine during Nor'easters...)

I second the message by alltom1. I too bought a new TL, non-navi, from Acura of Orange Park here in Jacksonville this past weekend. I paid $32784 including TTL, rear deck spoiler, mud flaps, and protection package. They also throw in dealer perks such as free interval service and a loaner. Awesome car, awesome price, awesome experience, and the best Acura I've owned (have had the '97 RL, '03 RSX, and '04 TSX). Guess it's a sickness but I'm content now!

    Enjoy!! :P

I need YOUR help! I am seriously looking into purchasing an 01 Lexus ES 300 (a certified car) from a Lexus dealer or an 03 Acura TL, (also certified) from the Acura dealer. They have all the options I want and the mileage is comparable. I want this car for comfort, dependability, looks and for future quality dealer service. I know all dealers are different but considering these two cars are both certified and the prices are about the same, which is the best option, and which is TRULY the better car?
    THANKS TO ALL!

You ask which is a better car? Well....depends on what you are looking for in a car...each person is different.

I am partial to Acuras...so I would say the Acura TL. Also...the Lexus ES300 styling reminds me of a Camry to be honest and not at all similar to many of the newly released cars.

As for comfort and dependability...you will not go wrong with either car.

But don't listen to me....each person has their own tastes.
  • golferheregolferhere Member Posts: 27
They are both great cars, and I'm sure both will be very reliable and dependable. The Acura might have a couple more goodies, and I would guess would be more fun to drive. The Lexus is probably a little quieter and more refined, but is still just a really nice CAMRY. Either car would be a great choice, and I bet you would be happy with either. I would lean towards the Acura, just because it is two years newer, and probably has more goodies (and better perfomance?) than the Lexus. Hope this helps...

    Hey everyone,
I'm in Northern California and I just got a quote from Stevens Creek Acura for $32,555 (including destination fee) + TTL on a 05 TL w/Navigation in the blue pearl/quartz combination. This is a built to order proposal. Is this a good deal?
  • delmar1delmar1 Member Posts: 744
It is a decent price proposal....if it includes the 'protection package'. You might want to look through the rest of the board for recent postings to see what others are paying. But...that is a good price. And no need to try to obtain the best price and beat others...be satisified.

    Enjoy your TL.

I see that you bought the TL with navi for only 31,600 i have been trying to make a deal at weir canyon and we got them down to 33,00 with much hassle. I just checked the forum and am wondering how everyone is getting these great prices. I live in Yorba Linda and getting to Calabassas is like a 70 mile drive. I want to make sure those Dealers near that area, Santa Monica, acura 101 west and glendale still give those types of offers considering its august now. Also what kind of financing rate did you get on the TL. and what options, protection package?
im looking to cloose a deal as soon as possible. thanks for your help
  • golferheregolferhere Member Posts: 27
Get away from Weir Canyon!! Email the Internet and Fleet dealers at the LA dealerships you mentioned, and see what they can do for you. Play them against each other, and find your best price. Then get in the car and drive the hour to save $1200+.... Its a no-brainer. The protection package can usually be a deal maker. You might also consider one of the spoilers. Good Luck.
  • minspaminspa Member Posts: 10
That's a good deal, but I agree with delmar1 that for that price the protection package should be included (trunk liner, splash guards, wheel locks). We got a quote from Stevens Creek or Sunnyvale at the end of June for $32,200 for the same car (including protection package). We purchased at Concord Acura when they matched that price since they were closer to where we live. You should definitely email other Bay Area dealers to see if they'll quote a lower price. My guess is they will (especially if you tell them you are serious buyer and intend to buy within a few days time).
  • soccer6soccer6 Member Posts: 6
    Thanks minspa and delmar1.
  • soccer6soccer6 Member Posts: 6
    Just an update.
Well I just got an email back from Stevens Creek Acura that the $32,555 does not include a protection package. And if I want that it will be extra. I've contacted Acura of Concord but they have not replied back as of yet.
  • brewtoobrewtoo Member Posts: 12
Man, you people in CA sure are getting great deals! I thought things cost more in CA.

I was tempted to fly out to CA and drive one home. Problem was, if I drove it home I had to pay CA sales tax. But if it was delivered to me on a truck I wouldn't have to pay CA sales tax. Go figure.

Anyway, we bought a TL/NAV locally (Alabama), but we could have still saved about $500 by having one trucked from CA.

Ours is white/parchment. Some dealers quoted $600 extra for that color!

I paid $32,998 with protection package, plus $195 doc fee and TTL (sales tax 2.375%).

Not the best deal but not a bad deal, IMHO.
  • soccer6soccer6 Member Posts: 6
Well we might be getting some low prices but we get hammered with sales tax. It's no fun when your sales tax is 7.75% or higher compared to your 2.375%.
  • delmar1delmar1 Member Posts: 744
Some reasons why perhaps Calif is receiving better pricing:

** Los Angeles is getting great prices because there are about a dozen Acura dealers within a 1.5 hour driving radius.
** There are a ton of other dealers from all car makers.
** Could be because we are closer to the transportation ports.
** San Diego which is the 8th largest city and only 1.5 hours from LA is paying $1-1.5k more because there really only two dealers (Cush of San Diego / Escondido and Hoehn) (I drive to LA to buy all my cars). Many people down in SD just don't realize they could drive and save big dollars.
  • yabe1000yabe1000 Member Posts: 4
Do you know offhand if that price included the protection package? - wheel locks, trunk tray and mud guards? Thanks!
  • yabe1000yabe1000 Member Posts: 4
Congratulations! We are down in Orange County and are considering the drive to Santa Monica. They have offered us a price close to what you were offered. But L.A.'s tax rate of 8.25 adds another $200 to the deal. It looks like you were even able to get Ventura County's lower sales tax rate - 7.25? Any other dealer fees we should know about? Thanks!
  • frisconickfrisconick Member Posts: 1,275
You are absolutely correct, people in SD should drive to LA and save some bucks. I live in SF and there are many Acura dealers. I called Concord and got a quote, then called Oakland got a qoute, then called Marin, San Fran, San Jose etc. and played them against each other. :P

I'm afraid I'm a position where I REALLY need to make a quick car purchase (my current, beautiful, expensive, pain in the #$#$!@ European car has been in the shop 7 times in the 3 years I've owned it and I've had enough!).

    Here's my question:
I've been given a price of $35,409.32 out the door for a TL w/NAV, splash guards, all-weather mats & wheel locks. I'm buying in CT and, if it makes a difference, the car is Anthracite Metallic w/Quartz.

Is this reasonable? Thanks very much for the help.
  • delmar1delmar1 Member Posts: 744
What is the price before taxes...just car plus destination...so perhaps we can provide guidance.
  • tlcurioustlcurious Member Posts: 4
Sure...price is $33,322 including destination (which, I believe is $279).

    Thanks again.
  • liferulesliferules Member Posts: 531
That's an "OK" price, but not good. Most people are getting TL's w/nav for under $33K with ALL fees excluding TT&L. Ideally you should aim for ~$32,500. Anywhere around there is good, IMO.

    Good luck!
  • delmar1delmar1 Member Posts: 744
I agree...the price received is a little hot...but not horrible. Between $32.5 to $33k is good.

I suggest reviewing recent posts over the week for further guidance.
  • tlcurioustlcurious Member Posts: 4
Thanks folks, very much appreciate the quick response. I did some poking around the site over past 30 minutes and drew roughly the same conclusion...my dealer is $300-$500 over the "best" price. That being said, I think I'm going with it anyway:
    a) I LOVE the TL
    b) I can't wait to unload my Audi :lemon:
    c) I think I'm getting a few hundred more for my trade than I should be

I wanted to validate that I'm not getting a price on the TL that's really off mark; it looks like I'm getting at least a fair deal and that's good enough for me at this point! Thanks again to both of you for the input. I'll post details of my experience over the next week to add to the knowledge base here.
  • delmar1delmar1 Member Posts: 744
You are absolutely correct in your decision making process.... You don't have to get the absolute lowest price. You want a fair deal...and sounds like you are. Perhaps just for the heck of it...see if they will throw in some other freebie if you are interested...maybe all weather mats which are worth something like $130.

And if you are getting a few hundred more for your trade...you have already equalized the total pricing for the deal.

Enjoy your TL...and I hope you will share your experiences with others.
  • tlcurioustlcurious Member Posts: 4
they are throwing in all weather mats and wheel locks and splash gaurds...so, I think I'm doin' OK....now the agonizing 72-96 hours before I can pick it up :-)
  • nightcrawler29nightcrawler29 Member Posts: 146
$31,802.05 sounds like an awsome price for an '05 TL w/Nav. Go for it!!...congrats, and enjoy. :)

I was about to examine the Acura TS or the higher S level this week, either at Scarsdale Curry or another local dealer. Depending on the price, I will consider both a used and new model. Three questions, of the Westchester area dealers, did you find some more honest than others? Second question, I am strongly considering a 2003 ES 300 Lexus, but haven't yet driven the Acura. I'm sure you considered both vehicles as well - why did you choose the Acura? Thirdly, if the rush is not on for a new model, what can one expect to get off the MSRP of either a new or used lexus or Acura in the area. One local Lexus dealer has a used car listed for 26,000. Any suggestions as to what Zi might offer and settle on? Thanks

Where in Alabama did you buy your TL? I have been talking with King Acura in B'mingham. I live in Tennessee.
  • dnixdnix Member Posts: 2
First of all thanks in advance for your responses. I'm considering buying a 05 TL...with it being the beginning of the month and with the 06 arriving soon, how does that change a dealers decision when it comes to pricing/negotiating? Am I being unrealistic to expect the type of quotes I've seen on this board over the past couple weeks? FYI, I'm in Minnesota, if it matters. Thanks for all the help guys. Glad I found this forum.

Well we finally "purchased" our TL on Sunday. I write "purchased" because it's not ours yet. We live in Washington state and let me tell you.. TLs up here are expensive!!! My husband decided he didn't want to deal with the hassle of buying out of state without seeing it, then shipping it, and then transferring the title and tax from CA to WA. We told the local dealership up here that we were coming in a couple hours on Saturday for this one car. Anyways, an hour later he calls us to tell us it's sold already. We then go to another local dealer and their car sells within 5 minutes too! Now we're stuck because we want a rare car.. TL with navigation in manual in either Blue, White, Green, Red.

We look again at Los Gatos Acura since they have the EXACT car that we want.. Green with parchment interior. We work with the Internet Manager and buy it for $32,550 including wheel locks. When we tried to get her to go down in price or throw in the rest of the protection package, she unfortunately didn't budge. She did say that their dealership makes the most money on accessories and didn't recommend that we purchase them from her. So she fedexed us the paperwork which will arrive today for us to sign. Then we have to arrange for shipping the car.

Although it's a big hassle for us, it's well worth it in the end to get the car we want and a better price (including shipping) then if we bought it up here. And you think 7.25% is alot of sales tax.. Try 9.8% or so.. Once we change the title to WA, we'll have to pay an additional 2-3% in tax.

I was wondering what is the APR for Gillman. Do they have the following deal,
    (1) 2 years or 24,000 miles of Free oil and filter changes
    (2) Free car washes for life
    (3) Free loaner vehicles for life
    (4) Free paint, fabric, and leather sealant

I got a quote for the same kind of car(Auto TL with GPS), John Eagle offer me $ 35833.20 out of door
  • montyburnzmontyburnz Member Posts: 17
In MN the prices are going to be considerably higher than the prices you see posted here. In MN, I would say 31,000-31,500k for TL w/o NAVI AT and in the ballpark of 33,500 for a TL w/ NAVI AT. These are ballpark figures and YMMV. But I'll go out on a limb and say you won't find a TL w/ NAVI for anywhere near 32K. 33K might even be tough to get. Buerkle Acura seems to have the best prices. White Bear is horrible and Richfield/Bloomington is only slightly better than White Bear (same owner I think) To give you an example, White Bear was selling a demo TL w/ 5,000 miles and no NAVI for 31,900.

I am not sure what Gillman offers I do kow the Internet Sales Manager trolls the boards so maybe he can tell you. Sterling McCall was willing to offer some of the above also. Good Luck Shopping.

    Hello All,
I am seriously considering selling my 2004 G35 coupe for a TL. I looked at the TL when I bought the G35, but the Infiniti's sporty exterior sold me. Midlife crisis? Maybe. The sporty ride with the 18 inch premium wheels is tough not to mention noisy...no prob on the highway, but get me on a regular road and UGH! Hate to admit it's too rough at the age of 43...but HEY it is.

Anyone else traded a G35 for a TL? For those who have test driven both what are your thoughts? I've contacted the 4 local dealers. Best price without Nav so far is 31.4K.

    Laurie (Houston)
  • delmar1delmar1 Member Posts: 744
I have not owned a G35....but have driven several as courtesy cars when I had an Infiniti...and have friends that do have G35s. I have thoughts...but I better leave it to true owners to be fair.

As for price of $31.4k....could be a little rich. Check out the recent discussions over the past few days...and weeks. It appears the going rate should be sub-$31k...along with the inclusion of the 'protection package' and destination.

Keep hunting through this site as it does have valuable tips. Amd when you do contact the four local dealers...contact the 'internet manager'...and also consider expanding your search outside of the metropolitan.
  • dnixdnix Member Posts: 2
Thanks montyburnz. Why higher in MN? Is it the sales tax? What about timing, do you think I should wait until the end of the month? Thanks again.

Anyone who has dealership buying experience, what is the lowest price that I can go on a acura TL?

Is it possible to reach 25,000 dollars?
  • rang1rang1 Member Posts: 2
In phx. az. they start around 30500 w/o nav + tl ....good luck
  • green5green5 Member Posts: 22
Heh Ok. Do the closing sales usually have lower prices?

$25K bucks on a '05 TL... probably if its a non-Nav... try back in a couple years.

If you are looking at a budget of $25k....you should consider looking at the TSX or Honda Accord...two fine alternatives. The TL is $30k+....please refer to other posts you will find on this site for prices paid.
  • happytlhappytl Member Posts: 17
You pay the tax of the county you live in not the slling dealers tax
  • ggesqggesq Member Posts: 701
You might be able to be at this price on a used 04 with 10-30k miles on it. Good luck.
  • ptwellsptwells Member Posts: 18
    Congrats on finding your TL.

I would appreciate info regarding shipping. A lot of Acura dealers say that won't arrange shipping. I bought a Pilot from Arizona (for all the same reasons you note) sight unseen and had it shipped. It arrived at my front door as promised about 10 days later.

I'm also considering a fly and drive to include SF and the wine country on the way home.
    thanks.
