I test drove, among others, the TL & G35 sedan. Reading the posts on this site really helped me with pricing. I got my TL Blue/ Camel with Navi for $31,802 + fees for an OTD of $34,646. For the TL with Navi it seems as though anything at or under $32,500 is good. However, this depends on where you live, availability, dealer competition, etc.
A similarly equipped G35 is far more expensive than the TL and I really enjoyed the way the TL drove so paying the extra 5-7k for a RWD car was not worth it to me. The TL is a whole lot of car for the money.
Make sure you go through the internet department when negotiating.
As far as leasing vs. buying, you will have to draw your own conclusions in regards to what you can afford to pay monthly, amount of money to put down, whether or not you drive alot, keeping a car for several years vs. getting a new car every few years, worrying about maintainance issues, not having equity in your car, tax consequences e.g. writing off the car payments as a business expense, etc...
As far as waiting for October, again you will have to draw your own conclusions. There are deals to be made on a TL NOW. With the 06's around the corner, you need to decide which model year you want first. If you wait till October, the selection of 05 TL's will vastly be lower. There might be better deals to be made then on a 05??? Dealers might not budge off of the 06 MSRP that they are doing now on the 05's?
I really didn't explore aggressive negotiating over the G35 after driving the TL. Hope this info helps.

Consider expanding your search outside of your area. Even consider go as far as California. I know that sounds crazy...but the price of a TL w/ nav is significantly less than what you are finding. The savings will not only compensate you for your travel costs...but beyond.
Look through this forum further and you will see recent pricing. Good luck.
We also paid the Ventura County sales tax, but that shouldn't be a problem anywhere if you can prove residency in a county other than the dealer's.
My wife and I are very happy with the car, and the purchase was so painless, I can't see ever doing it any other way.
I also purchased the Acura Care extended warranty (those electronics have me worried!) on the web for $1,100, substanially less than the dealer price, and MUCH lower than retail.
so you didnt purchase the wheel locks or splash guards and truck tray which come with the acura protection package. Is there any more info you can give me on the acura 101 west dealer i want to go this weekend and finalize a deal and hopefully get it as low as you did. Is there by any chance I could say that a friend i know (you
I owned a Chrysler 300M for 5.5 years, 67,000+ miles that only came with a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty. All repairs were done in the warranty period, none in the final 2.5 years/31,000 miles. Although I really enjoyed the car, I just didn't want to keep a Chrysler into the 70,000+ mile range although I don't think it would have been a huge risk.
My point? I didn't need ext. warranty coverage on a Chrysler! Odds are much better on not needing one for an Acura ( in other words, keep YOUR money!). But, if it helps you sleep at night, then it's worth it. YMMV.
Enjoy the TL!

Thanks.
Are you really sure you want a moon roof deflector? Really? If you are concerned about wind roar...there is hardly any as Acura did a great job engineering the roof to minimize.
If interested...you could always buy from the folowing site..which sells factory Acura parts at a discount:
http://www.handa-accessories.com/acura.html
I got the deal by contacting the dealership via their Internet Sales Manager, using one of the on-line referral services available at carbuyingtips.com.
Feel free to mention Mike, the guy who purchased the Antracite/Ebony Navi a week and a half ago.
I've been burned in the past with big ticket items breaking out of warranty, with the labor and parts just KILLING me on the repairs. Consequently, I've purchased extended warranties on big-ticket items for quite a while, Consumer Reports be damned.
If nothing breaks, it was $1,100 out the window. But if only one major repair is needed, it will pay for itself. Friend of mine just has a $3,000+ repair on his car (not an Acura), covered by his extended warranty. As you say, YMMV.
Anyhow, taking your advice in part, we're enjoying the hell out of this car!
I decided on a TL w/o navi in black with the camel interior. I emailed eleven dealers within a two hour drive from where I live in Harrisburg, PA, including the Washington/Baltimore area. Most got back to me within a day with a price which ranged from 31,953 to 30, 900. I then shopped the lowest price around by email and got an offer of 30, 700 from Jones Acura in Lancaster PA (about an hour from me). Other dealers offered to match my best offer. My local dealer, Bobby Rahal in Mechanicsburg had one of the higher initial offers but I went back to the salesperson who had helped us with the test drive and with very little discussion they matched the price. I ended up adding wheel locks, splash guards, floor mats and the trunk liner for an additional $193 bringing my total price to 30,893 before TTL.. I highly recommend contacting the internet sales people of several dealerships and playing them against each other. This has been by far my best car purchase experience. Now I just have to wait for the car to be delivered.
Knock wood, I guess I've been lucky. Never needed an extended warranty on anything (at least that I can remember?). Hmmm, my day may be coming!
Even though you bought the warranty, here's to never needing to use it!
Enjoy!

I live in Tampa, Florida and bought my TL at Acura of South Florida in Hollywood. If this is too far from you, I highly recommend buying from Acura of Orange Park in Jacksonville. Great people, communication, Internet Dept, and PRICE!!!. Both dealerships are about 4 hours drive from me but I chose to buy from Acura of South Florida solely because my parents live down there and I thought of knocking out two birds with one stone- visit the parents; buy the TL at a decent price. Acura of Orange Park is probably much closer to you than the one in South Florida. BTW, I got the Blue/ Camel with Navi for $31,802 + TT & fees. Acura of Orange Park was very close in their pricing as well. Hope this information helps and good luck!

I'm just starting to look -- trying to get reasonable price expectations.
The prices on this forum people are getting in CA recently are pretty
good (seeing lots at invoice or slightly below).
Thanks!
Anyways, we ended up buying our from Cali and shipping it up here.. Ended up being much cheaper than buying up here. I would recommend checking it out. Shipping is costing us $750 to ship from San Francisco area to Seattle. All we have to pay to the Cali dealer is cost of car + doc fee and that's it. You pay WA taxes and license once you register it up here.
Price paid 32,555 which included the protection package, with TTL 2,116 hence OTD price is 34,671
This forum has been very helpful and my buying experience was so much easier because of it.

That's a very good price.
My wife and I love the TL. We are looking to move out of an older V6 Passat we have had for awhile. While the brand new '05 TL's seem to be well worth the $30k price tag, we can't swing that right now. Therefore, I was looking to get two questions answered:
1. Good '04 buying experiences in South Florida...price, good dealers, etc.
2. Roughly, how much will the '04 prices drop when the '06's are introduced and '05's start showing up on the Pre-Owned lots?
Thanks in advance for your help...this is a great site.
I don't know the answers to both. But what you can do is go to the kelly bluebook site (believe it is something like www.kbb.com) and plug in the various variables you are speaking of for question #2. For instance...plug in the used car prices of a 2004 and 2005 and see what the price spread is...then apply that knowledge to guess what the price spread may be for your question.
I will be honest...I haven't bought a used car and not familar. But I am going to venture to say not much at the front end of the production year.
If the TL doesn't work out for you...consider the 2006 Acura TSX. That should have significant upgrades in the coming year at about $5-6k less.
We paid 32,163 for the TL which included mud guards, trunk tray, wheel locks, body side molding and door edge guards. The base price before extras was 31,555.
It's important to remember that the license and taxes you pay are based on where you register the car, which is your home county. Go up on the DMV web site. They have a calculator you can use to figure this out. Unfortunately, buyers in L.A. pay higher sales tax. You can't necessarily compare with someone elses "Out the Door" price, which includes their tax and license.
We had arranged our own financing through Costco/Capital One beforehand. We had applied over the Internet and they mailed us a "blank check" to use at the dealership.
We paid the $12 to get a car report from Consumer Reports. It was very helpful because we knew the exact current dealer incentives/holdbacks.
We did not trade in our old car because we have read so many times that this confuses a deal. Also, we don't buy extended warranties or things like "protective coatings" because we have also learned these items are not necessary.
When we told the other dealerships what we had arranged with Santa Monica, most told us "Go for It" if we could get it. We were driving up from San Clemente to get the car, and had the obvious concerns that when we got there, they wouldn't honor the deal. We had itemized the deal via email before, so just brought the email with us.
It went EXACTLY as promised. When we got there, the car was washed and ready. We drove it (we had driven them before). We checked it over for scratches, etc. We were asked for a copy of the email. They put together the paperwork exactly as it was in the email. We signed the papers, and we left with our new car.
We can't stand feeling like we are being "worn down" by a salesperson, and we hate wondering if we are being lied to. It was nice leaving the dealership with a car we love and feeling GOOD about the experience. It was worth the drive, even with L.A. and Orange County traffic.
I just got an offer for an '05 TL w/navigation for $32,999 + TTL. This includes the destination fee and the protection package (splash guards, all weather mats, wheel locks, and trunk tray). Also included is the availability of a loaner car if any type of services or repairs are required. What do you think?
Anyone in Houston gone beyond the big city for a better price?
I test drove the TSX, the TL and the RL. They were all fun to drive but we really liked the TL, the RL was nice but the TL actually felt better during the test drive.

Now I don't know about leasing, since we didn't look into that option. That might be something you can ask them. I would actually ask a few people since several dealers told me I would have to pay CA tax when really I didn't pay any CA tax.. I just have to pay WA tax when we register it.
