How benefitial would it be to wait for another 2 months to see when 06's will be delivered? Does Acura typically provide additional incentives to move out the current year model when the new model hits the showroom?

    thanks
  • lalacaliflalacalif Member Posts: 5
Most of the dealers in the Los Angeles area you were dealing with are typically very very competitive and similar in price. As I posted in the past...you really have to be in contact with ALL of the dealers. Just as one person in the past recommended Glendale as the lowest, Acura 101 West was able to best them, then now Santa Monica now is able to best all.

Don't just negotiate with one and wear horse blinders. Spend the time to negotiate will all. Glendale will not always be the lowest. Acura101 will not always. Santa Monica will not always either. And most will be very professional and not play with the numbers.

See this link for a complete explanation: http://www.edmunds.com/advice/incentives/holdback/index.html

In short, holdback is money the manufacturer gives to dealers to help defray some costs. On a TL it's about $1,050. Normally, a dealer won't let a buyer eat into the holdback (i.e. buy a car for below invoice), but right now it's the end of the model year, there is excess inventory (in California at least), it's the end of the month and salespersons are desperate to hit certain sales plateaus (resulting in them getting higher commission percentages). In other words, a good time to be a buyer.
  • frisconickfrisconick Member Posts: 1,275
Well, they do have to make something even if it's just hold back. :P When we bought our TL we took up the time of 3 people for 2 hours, maybe not the entire 2 hours for everyone.

After reading the posts in this forum I sent emails to the local dealers in the RI and MA area requesting quotes for a TL without NAV. The internet sales manager at First Acura in Seekonk, MA responded with a bottom line offer of $31,234.00 including destination charges. They also quoted me $35.00 Documentation and $79.00 for Dealer Preparation.
The sales tax in R.I. would be 2,186.38 (7%) and the registration is 90.00, for an OTD price of $33,624.38. I can't imagine any dealer will quote me a lower price.
Thanks to all of you have have offered your input.

I forgot to mention that First Acura will also give me free tires for the life of the car.

Does anyone have any experience buying an A-SPEC in AZ or CA. I am looking for one w/nav. Best quote so far: 33.7K + 5.2K for A-SPEC +t&l. OTD is 42.765K. In the OTD price the dealer wants "$299 for doc fee" Thanks
  • acura4me2acura4me2 Member Posts: 2
$30,500?? Wow, does that include navigation? Im driving up from San Diego as well to Santa Monica to get my new ride...6 speed silver TL with navigation, summer tires, protection package for just under 35 OTD, not bad (he sold it to me for under invoice) , but now your making me wonder if thats such a great deal after all! unless of course yours doesn't have a navi.... image
  • delmar1delmar1 Member Posts: 744
Good choice...the San Diego Acura dealers are outrageous with their pricing.
  • acura4me2acura4me2 Member Posts: 2
yeah they are! The 2 hour drive is well worth the 1200+ savings...the dealers act as though its such a rare and hard to find car (silver 6 speed) and therefore thought they could charge way more...luckily this forum made me look outside the box so to speak haha
  • golferheregolferhere Member Posts: 27
How on earth could I get one with a deck lid spoiler and navigation for $30,500? Would be nice. I get a good deal in early June (about $600 under invoice), but better deals can be had now. The lowest I have seen one with Navigation is $31,555, listed earlier this evening.......Read some of the earlier posts from 7/28, and you'll see just what kind of a deal you're getting (pretty typical). Anyhow, I really did not mean any disrespect, but read the forums a little closer......

I inquired into a TL, Manual with Nav; here are my responses to far:

    DCH Montclair wrote:
As you requested, the cost for the 2005 Acura TL Navigation, is; $33,155.00 plus tax and registration. The destination charge is included in the pricing for the vehicle.

For a limited time only Montclair Acura will include a Protection Package ($342.00 Value) at no cost. Package includes Trunk Tray, Splash Guards, and Wheel Locks.

    Paragon in Woodside NY wrote:

    Model # UA6625JW
    Description: TL with navigation
    MSRP: $35,670
    INTERNET QUOTE: $$32,800

This Price Quote Includes all Incentives currently available, Destination and handling, but not Tax & Fees. Please note that this quote is good for 7 days.

ANY THOUGHTS SO FAR?? EVERYONE'S SUGGESTIONS ARE ALWAYS APPRECIATED.

After as much research I can handle -- I am concerned with pulling the trigger for the '05. What changes will be made in the '06; and how much difference in cost will I expect to pay for the upcoming model?

I have listed some prices and they seem to be inline with the general "good" deals mentioned; however, I don't want to be made that I missed out on all the goodies in the '06 (if any).
  • metanamemetaname Member Posts: 6
After two month of waiting and thinking finally bought a 2005 TL with Navigation, Splash Guards and Floor Mats for $32,300. Well that doesn't include almost $200 doc fee and sales tax.

Good luck in your negotiations for a TL. I am gathering two primary questions of pricing and what is coming in the 2006 model.

As for pricing....if you are looking for a TL nav...it appears fairly reasonable to get pricing of $32.5 to $33k including destination fees plus minimal $50 dealer documentation fees. Just know even if you do get a internet quote...you should still be able to further discuss price. As for the protection package...that is pretty much a common throw-in....and a great thing to have. So for apples to apples...you could consider that to be about a $250 value compared to those without the package.

As for 2006...no official word yet on what will be in it. The changes from 2004 to 2005 were minor. What 2006 may have I do not know. However...you kinda have to look at it like a merry-go-round....you have to step up and get on sometime. Every year there will be something new and you have to ask yourself if you are satisified with what is available today...as today is what ultimately matters.

Let me throw this out also. Some are considering waiting later into the year as they think the 2005s will be cheaper once the 2006 will be released. Will they? Maybe...but at the same time the selection may be less...and the price difference may be marginal from what you see the 2005 are being sold at. However...I am under the belief that the 2006 will not be sold at the same discounts that you are seeing in the 2005 model right now. You should not be concerned with what is the listed MSRP price....but the opportunity price of what you can actively purchase the merchandise for.

    Hope that helps...good luck.

    Delmar:

I have seen your posts several times and on several topics --- you really are a big help to someone like me (a first time 'interested' Acura buyer) and to those that have been TL owners for quite some time. I encourage you to continue with your generous help.

My wife has a BMW X3 and I had a BMW 330xi (outgoing). I don't think that I get the same bang-for-my-buck as my friends does with his TL, therefore, I am not interested in the new BMW bodies.

I got in my buddies TL and was so impressed with all the features and standard 'options'. Also, the touch screen Nav is so much better than the one I have in both the cars and the voice command is pretty cool. So, I agree with your post. I am happy with everything it has now. I would like the AWD feature though - and always want the best price of course!
  • delmar1delmar1 Member Posts: 744
juddlaw1....Thanks for the encouraging words...I do try to help all at much as I can. Kinda fun too. I probably will continue for about a month more before I become irrelevant as the new model year comes in and new buyers have new experiences to share.

Acuras are great. I have had five Acuras...and have many other makers. I also currently have a BMW also...yet I still very much enjoy my TL. Forget the argument about front vs rear wheel drive....in my opinion. I did...as you have to look at the total experience and not be myopic and focus on a single thread.

AWD would be neat...but it is overkill for Southern California in general.

Whatever car you do purchase...I hope you will also assist others on these boards.

Good deal, Meta. Sounds like Acura of Boston? $200 doc fee includes "free" state inspections (antoher tax) for life...

I got a good deal there on my '05 back in December. Just had my A1 service there, I got a loaner TL. Was hoping for a loaner NSX...!

A1 service for A1 premium price. How much did they charge you? Are you using blue tooth phone? Any problems?

    Regards....
  • metanamemetaname Member Posts: 6
Back in June, I had 32,500 with NAV from them. They will drive to pick up your car for service within 75 mile range. Question is, how much is this going to cost you? Was there a '*' next to the free tire offer?
  • socalbyrsocalbyr Member Posts: 15
Wow! That's an excellent price for the TL with navi. I just got my TL with navi fm Santa Monica Acura and was quoted a few hundreds more. I should have haggled with them some more. However, I had a trade in, so that's were I got a good price... offer was decent enough as compared to the other dealerships I approached before.

Overall, my purchasing experience with them was good. They'll work with you especially on pricing.

Should have seen socalmikel's post before I got my TL...would love to have gotten my TL with that price. :shades:

About $50 bucks for oil change, tire rotations wash and vacuum. Plus some warranty work. Direct Tire will do the oil/tire for $30 which I'll use in the future, but since I had a couple of warranty items to look at, A of B. Unfortunately, after washing they parked it under a tree so I had some presents from birds and the tree on the car. I'll mention that at the follow up, I kinda hate a dirty car...

    No Bluetooth, yet.

I have to revise my earlier posts. First Acura went to $31,000 for the TL w/out NAV and $32, 800 for the TL w/ NAV. They included the protection package and the destination charge in those prices. Their deal with free tires for the life of the car is good as long as you get the car serviced there according to Acura's service plan. The deal still comes out in my favor when you compare the costs of the tires vs. the service, and how long I will keep the car.
Did you buy the TL for $32, 500?
  • jeffhoujeffhou Member Posts: 23
Can someone give me an idea in Houston what a good deal would look like for a TL with Navi? And, what is the "free tires for life" I'm reading? Are there any manufacturers rebates going on right now? Is it reasonable to pay no more than invoice, with mats and protection? I may go do the deal tomorrow so your early response would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

    jeffhou
  • liferulesliferules Member Posts: 531
    jeffhou,

I wouldn't waste much time on the "tires for life" deal. It sounds nice, but then you have to haggle with the dealership as to what they consider qualifications for new tires, etc...

I'd just worry about the price of the car. Also, some of the prices people are buying the TL w/nav for here are outrageously great, but then they are later admitting that it didn't include destination or other fees. I think a good price is still the mid 32's. Anything $32,500 or better is great IMO.

I suggest you email all the dealership in Houston, Dallas, and Austin and request the best price. Let them know you're ready to deal IMMEDIATELY. This is the weekend to get the absolute best prices for a month, as it is the end of the month weekend. Expect some rapid haggling over the internet or by phone. Just ask for the best price and then bounce them against each other until you reach a price you are willing to pay. Remember to ask for the TOTAL PRICE excluding TTL so that comparisons between dealerships will be equal (as other fees may vary between dealerships, but TT&L is a constant). Be very explicit in your correspondence as to the car, color, and that you want it with nav, sometimes they throw out a price then say it was for the non-navi.

    Good luck!

Am to pick up a stated Acura tomorrow for $32800 all cost minus taxes. Could have gotten minus $300, by traveling 5 hours but decided no thanks. This is a mid Atlantic deal.

Since this web site has been a wealth of knowledge for me, I wanted to pass along info to assist others.

Jeffhou maybe I can help you out last night I e-mailed all the dealers in Houston austin beaumont and one in LA. I have been to a few dealers today and almost bought. Pretty much I have been qouted 35,800 out the door price for a 2005 tl with navi and automatic. I got that from Gillman, Sterling McCall, and John Eagle. I went to John eagle to work a deal guy was an a**. So we went to Sterling McCall and I got an offer for 35600 out the door. My wife and I were going to do this but I am using my own financing and will have to wait till Monday. As soon as I got home I got an e-mail from Gillman willing to beat any offer I have recieved by any Houston competor by $500. So I should be able to get the car for 35100 out the door. I will keep this post updated if I hear anything new. Good Luck on your purchase.

P.S. One Austin dealer qouted me 35300 and both of them were eager to beat anybodies price.
  • brewtoobrewtoo Member Posts: 12
mjflood, what were those prices without TTL, please?
  • mjfloodmjflood Member Posts: 9
Most were 33500 without ttl. I did get an offer of 500 over invoice in Austin and I also got an offer of 33256 from sterling mccall. I am hoping to get an extra 500 of that price if you read my above post. That is without TTL and aditinal fees. I was more worried about out the door because different dealers charge different fees. Also the dealer get 1000 holdback from Acura. So even if they sell you at invoice they are still making money. I would love to get it at invoice but I don't think that will happen.

Looking for a better deal 30837 w/o nav on a new TL , or is this the best deal
  • nightcrawler29nightcrawler29 Member Posts: 146
Jeffhou.... for what I have read in the past, it seems that a few dealers in Houston can give you pretty good deals sometimes. I bought my TL w/Nav 2 weeks ago from Vandergriff Acura in Arlington, TX...Dallas area. Price was $32700 with an OTD of $35000, including tinted windows and wheel locks. I did research different dealers in Houston, Austin, Dallas, and San Antonio, and all of them were $33000 over... it seems like Dallas dealers are more competitive though (at least that was 2 weeks ago). I had a good experience with this dealership and I'm happy with my TL.

I was reading a post where a month ago a guy got the tl with navi for inovice in houston but when I tried that same dealer today for 500 above invoice he told me to go else where. post 3677 if you want to see it.

I think that I want to lease my (soon to drive) TL ... I would like to trade in my wife's Civic that she had for only one year. I am in NJ

What are some good lease deals for a TL w/ Nav; 15,000 miles.
Also, how is the best way to go in to trading in the Civic EX w/ 16,000 miles in good condition?
  • j_kj_k Member Posts: 1
Not sure about the trade question but for a 15K lease on a TL w/Nav I got $459/mth with $2k down at Bridgewater Acura last week. Other quotes I received were much higher. I dealt with the younger guy in the Internet Department.
  • drheaddrhead Member Posts: 7
Gillman sent out an e-mail that states that they will beat any Houston Deal by $500. It said that it is for today only.
  • frisconickfrisconick Member Posts: 1,275
Acura of Concord (Bay Area) called me at the end of June, and told me that have to sell 20 cars that day. If they treated me better a week earlier, they would have had 19 cars to sell. :P Acura of Marin said they would beat any price, and they did.
  • delmar1delmar1 Member Posts: 744
I tried that same dealer today for 500 above invoice he told me to go else where

Easy answer for that one. Prices paid may vary. Each deal is dependent on so many factors. How long a particular car has been on the lot...what color is it (more popular colors will demand higher prices...law of supply and demand)...how many cars has the salesperson sold in relationship to his compensation incentives...etc.

Prices indicated here should be used as guidance...and not absolute pricing.
  • delmar1delmar1 Member Posts: 744
Never get pushed into an offer which indicated 'good for today only'. If they have what you want at the price you want...then fine. But don't allow time limits to compromise your position.
  • mjfloodmjflood Member Posts: 9
I agree with drhead. I have asked Gillman for their offer in writing and they will not provide it. I refuse to drive an hour and not know the deal is good and get rushed into a today only thing paying more.
  • delmar1delmar1 Member Posts: 744
Totally agree...don't step foot into a location without a written statement of pricing.

I am considering buying an Acura TL 05 in the next few weeks. I was quoted $31,500 for an 05 w/o the NAv. Is this a fair price or can I do better at a different dealer?

One of the Acura dealers I contacted earlier emailed this to me today... Thought I would share it with anyone looking for a finance deal to seal the deal on a new TL..

Acura has just announced rates available throught the end of the year. They ar 2.9% up to 36 months, 3.9% up to 48 months and 4.9% up to 60 months! These are all with approved credit! We have not seen rates in the 4.9% range in quite some time. Acura did exclude the TSX on this special because there just is no inventory of those to justify it. I'm not sure if you are ready to make a move but with these new rates maybe now is the time.

This is a great forum! Question: I am looking at a Silver / Blk '05 non-nav in the Austin, TX area. The price quoted was $30,800 +TTL, w/ 2K miles, tinted windows. It also comes with a certified Acura/Honda warranty that covers the usual drive train, etc... for up to 75,000 miles. I believe the standard warranty is for 50,000 miles. Does this sound like a good deal? The car looks brand new. Thanks.

    Hey guys,

Prior to buying, this forum helped me a great deal so I will post my buying experience hopefully for others' benefit.

I bought my TL Blue/ Camel with Navi from Acura of South Florida in Hollywood, Florida a week ago. The final OTD price was $34,655.50. The breakdown is as follows:

    $31,802.05 - car
    $6.50- Tire/ Battery
    $2016.00- Tax
    $225.00- Tag
    $2.00- Trust Fund
    $124.95- Doc Fees
    $479.00- Dealer Fee
    ________
    $34,655.50

This dealer's doc fee and dealer fee were a little higher than others. However, I got the car at such a low price, the OTD price was far lower than any of the other quotes I was getting so I did not want to haggle over the doc fee/ dealer fee. Everyone in this transaction was happy. If any of you want more specific information, please email me and I will help any way I can. Loving my new TL.

After reading this forum and negotiating my TL last week, I believe the lowest prices that have been accepted by dealers are: $30,500 - $31,000 for a TL w/out NAV, and $32,500 - $32,800 for the TL w/ NAV. These prices (for me) included the destination charges and one of the four available protection packages.
Keep in mind these were end of the month deals, and since today is the last day of the month, but is a Sunday, the dealers will still offer these deals through tomorrow.
  • brewtoobrewtoo Member Posts: 12
Don't forget this one. It's the lowest price I've seen.

"This quote is for an 05 Acura TL. The MSRP on this car is $35670.00 (including the destination charge). Your Special Internet Price from Santa Monica Acura is just $31599.00 price good till end of month (including destination charge and mud guards)!"
