Thanks.
A few things i thought of is your sitting a LOOONG way away from the passenger side mirror, which I think could reduce the field width if the mirror is just a normal one.
Also, the angle on the passenger side mirror is steeper as your sitting on the other side of the truck.. Another thing to cause a more limited field of vision..
When I test drove with the TT mirrors, I thought the upper mirror was just as limiting in view as the normal ones, but the TT mirrors have the handy little convex mirror underneath which was way useful.

I appreciate all the input from this group. This is extremely helpful.
I would appreciate opinions on the following issue before I receive by build-date. I will be pulling "occasionally" a 25 foot snowmobile/motorcycle trailer which when fully loaded will weigh approximately 6,000 IBs. Will I be in good shape with the 3.73ls?
Oh, by the way, thanks to all of you who have posted answers on how to access DORA, etc. It's been a real help to those of us who don't know much.
Anyway, stay tuned. I'll report my build/delivery date upon receipt from VOPC.
As far as VOPC goes, that thing is up 24/7, and sometimes it appears to be down, but usually is back to normal after a short while. Heck, they have to update it sometime, right?
My CC V-10 Lariat is due the week of Nov. 15. I'm leaving for Cleveland for a few days (from mid-Michigan) on the 19th. So if any of you see a hauler with a red SD CC on it having a long lunch, tell him to get on his job! I'll be a little disappointed if I have to go without it!
Crazyelvis... can't believe no one will supply a "standard" mirror. I hate those (convex) types of mirrors too because you can't perceive where anything really is (& this becomes especially true at night). worse, I don't have any advice except maybe obtaining those mirrors from tracyo.
slowhand7... it does look like the v10 is holding things up a little. it also seems rather inconsistent as some are still obtaining 7-8 week delivery times. it may just be that others are between the "cracks" so-to-speak, schedule wise. the important item is that you've got DORA info. however; even a 12 week wait is well worth it for one of these "beasts" no matter what the configuration as no one else has anything to offer that is even remotely close. we ordered our psd a couple of weeks after you & have a build week of 11/15 probably because the psd & manual tranny combo is not very popular. a couple of more weeks ought to do it for you.
I have another question though.....has anyone have any information, suggestions or experience with auxiliary fuel tanks that will fit a y2k F-250 CC LWB? My preference is one that fits under the truck (and doesn't require removal of the spare) rather than one in the bed.
Was this to just get it started? Is this enough information to call the Ky. Plant? Thanks for all the posts. Glen
You should call the dealer and ask for the DORA info or more specifically order number..
This, along with the dealer number and body type of the truck ordered should be all you need.
If he can not, or will not give you the DORA order number, then somethings up..
(Either the dealer didnt submit the order, or the dealer has no allocation for the truck etc..)
Leather is probably more of a preference. I had no problem with it in Texas and I have no problem with it up here in Anchorage.
The 3.73s will do fine for towing 6000 pounds. The difference between the 3.73 and the 4.30 will be that your truck will downshift sooner on some hills with the 3.73.
Brutus....dude!!.....I was out helping coach my girls soccer team tonight.....running around and SWEATING!!!! Low 80's here....I'm not CRAZYelvis...YOU ARE!!! It's too da*n cold up there!!!!!
CRAZYELVIS: Is that ANY kind of leather treatment or do you recommend a certain brand???
Crazyelvis... spoke with Ken past week. obtained the VIN... makes it a little easier to check the VOPC & can also verify that the truck we ordered is actually the one received (once the beast gets here!). we really don't want it b4 12/1 for financial reasons.. but want it asap after that! told Ken we probably wouldn't be speaking with him again until truck arrives at yard (oh, boyyyy, the "fun" begins!). status will probably go to "locked in" sometime next week or following for sure as beast is still on schedule to be hatched week of 11/15 (about 6 weeks after ordering... can't complain about that). & looks like v10 orders are getting held up somewhat as some of the waits are getting a little lengthy. and others are getting prompt build dates. go figure, huh? note that I only check the VOPC once a week (until build) to keep the "traffic" down so don't know the exact current status. incidently, this area doesn't have much in the way of "large" goodies. haven't even found a Rhino or Linex spray-in liner dealer (although there probably is one around). & no one has aux fuel tanks around here, either. found a much better price on diesel exhaust brake than camping world though, so we're are making some progress. finally; been noticing that there are very, very few SD's around here (seen none on the road & only one in a Home Depot parking lot). the dealers have very few on their lots (mostly pushing cars & suv's)... the prices are probably a little too steep for a truck (but... people DO get what they pay for if you want to call a truck a TRUCK).
wish all those waiting for v10 builds well as July orders are just too damn long.... but at this juncture it'd be foolish to throw in the towel by marching off to another dealer. it is frustrating knowing that others (like me) are probably going to get their trucks earlier than you even though you've ordered considerably earlier. that sucks (like getting in a short line at McDonald's with a really slow cashier when compared to a little longer line with a really fast cashier!). but you've got DORA info (that is not a priority 99, right?) so just have to be a little more patient.
Good Luck
I'm one of those guys who removes all of the snow off my truck before I start driving. I'm big on visibility, so I prefer not to have snow blowing off my hood and roof. I suspect the drivers around me appreciate it too. Since I don't have mudflaps (yet), so the little cars behind me still enjoy some participation in my driving experience.
Someone several posts back mentioned inventing heated wiper blades, and I said I didn't think it would catch on. I withdraw my comment. Although I don't think they will help clear the window since you're just pushing water around unless the window is heated up from the defroster. However, the place it would come in handy is to keep the ice buildup off the blades. If you have a wet snow or hit a freezing rain storm (like I did in Oklahoma in January), ice builds up on the blades. Since the rubber isn't hitting the window, the wiper blade becomes ineffective. It would be, kind of, like trying to remove the snow from your driveway with a broom. It will get the big stuff on the surface, but not the rest.
There is a manual override for the ESOF that enables you to go out and lock the hubs at the wheel. When I engage my ESOF, the 4wd is pretty instantaneous. However, it might take a few revolutions of the tires before it engages. If you were sitting on the edge of a muddy bog and you were in 2wd, you might want to get out and manually lock the hubs to ensure that your 4wd is engaged immediately, rather than a few revolutions later....just in case. I've used the ESOF flawlessly for over a year in cold weather. It works great. My truck has been in 4wd the past two days because of this first snow that looks like it's here to stay. 151 reported accidents yesterday, which is actually less than the first snow last year when they had over 200.
Sounds like a Monday morning workforce at the factory on the defective spring issue if it is affecting more than one truck.
Follow up on a previous question I posted: With my manual 4WD, I initially had difficulty shifting from 4LO to 4HI (even with truck in neutral just like the manual says). While 4-wheelin this weekend, learned that it's much easier to get it out of 4LO if, after you stop and put the truck in Neutral, you let it roll a little. This seems to free up the 4WD transfer case and it shifts easily into 4HI. Does this make sense? Anyone with MANUAL 4WD experience on SD please comment.
For those of you waiting, I know it's of little help, but it is really worth the wait........ Based on your stories allotment seems to be the key to getting good order scheduling. Someone I know placed his order with a local dealer (while I drove up to the next city for mine) and he's playing the same waiting game many of you are. No allotment at the dealer, so no response on ordering. He's reluctant to switch now too so has to just be patient. For me, it was 2 days shy of 8 weeks from order to my smilin' face pulling off the dealer lot.
Anyone whos thinking about ordering, make sure and check the allotment info at the dealer. Better to know going in how highly FORD thinks of your dealer. Sometimes a short drive speeds things up a bunch.
stay-tuned.
When the system comes back up what is the proper way to enter the model year. I tried 2000 the # but since the system was down I don't know if this is the correct way or not.
I am getting anxious but my dealer did warn me that it would probably be 12-16 weeks. 8 down 8 to go. Thanks for the info
I think we're ok using the automated parts, but its reasonable to believe that if we bother the real people manning the VOPC lines, ford could disable general access to the VOPC.
LT235/85 R16 = Narrower tire, so sidewall is 85% of the tire width
LT265/75 R16 = Wider tire, so sidewall is only 75% of the tire width
Also, I didn't see where the Camper package required the larger tires.

I noticed 2 things right away:
a. Upper left hand graphic has a picture of the SuperDuty front grill.
b. The cover picture (which rotates between 10 or so trucks) happened to show an F350 SuperDuty..
I guess even F150 owners dream about owning a SuperDuty..
