I bought a GX 470 with NAV (NL), Preferred Accesory Pkg (PIO),Cargo Net (GN), Third Row Seat (TH), Spoiler (DD), Wheel Lock (PIO)

MSRP 52288, paid 49,234 before tax. Was suppose to be half way between msrp and invoice (45,051) but they had some "JAM FEES" I didnt fight because the salesperson turned out to be a single mom with four kids. She needed the 565 more than me I suppose. Bought in Colorado Springs. No hassles, quick sale. Gave me a decent trade in on old lx450. 1k more than kbb bluebook said.

I bought my GX 470 on Jan 6 05, and the financing was 5.75%. Looks like I just missed the "december to remember" cheaper financing. Make sure you ask if there is any special financing and when it ends!

Looking for a good price to negotiate a 2005 GX with Navigation, 3rd row seat, DVD, Back camera, KDSS. Any dealerships in NJ area u recommend ?

    Thanks
  • davidc1davidc1 Member Posts: 168
You might have to take the Sport Package to get KDSS and I doubt they'll give you much discount on fully loaded GX since they are in short supply but try Prestige in Paramus. I think they got one in stock.

    Congrats on your new GX....

What's the name of the dealership Ray Catena works at? I'm from Maryland and not having much luck finding a Blizzard GX with NAV in the area.....at a negotiable price that is.

I too..am willing to make the 350 mile trip from MD for such an experience. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Finfighter:

Ray Catena IS the name of the dealership.

They are located in Monmouth, NJ (actually it's Oakhurst).

Go to LEXUSUSA.COM and search on dealers.

Can I get the Sport Model with the dark interior. My dealer in NJ says they are only being built with the light tan interior. Thanks

    Bill,

You can get the Sports Package with dark gray leather trim. Photos of a GX with gray leather and black maple were posted in a ClubLexus GX 470 gallery. Somebody else also posted photos of their ivory interior sports model.

Availability may differ by region. Also, if you go to the Lexus web site and use the Build Your Lexus feature, GX 470, and a zip code from the right region (try 77074), then Sports Package will be available in step 1. Step 3 will allow selection of a light or dark interior and it provides photos for comparison. I'm waiting until I can get KDSS with light maple.

    Good luck,

    Duane

    Thanks Duanne,

My dealer in NJ said the sports model is only being built with the ivory. I guess he was very wrong. I could order one from somewhere else if need be. Where do you recommend buying it?

    Bill
  • davidc1davidc1 Member Posts: 168
You could order any color you want but they might not ship them the way you want it. I ordered Sport Pack with dark interior but ended up accepting lighter interior. It looks fine though. I knew that it might be a long time before they'll ship one exactly like I wanted it. My dealer only got two SP so far and I decided to accept what I can get.

    Hi all,

Got quote on a 2005 Blizzard Pearl, nav, dvd, etc. 2 questions please:

    1)is $47,300 good?

2)what is a Rosen DVD player? Will it integrate seamlessly?

Thanks all. Hope to join the club soon.

    Mike
  • stocktraderstocktrader Member Posts: 3
Mike - don't know what a Rosen DVD is but if you got that price, take it! I feel that is an excellent price on a 2005 GX. At least in Florida it is untouchable.

What state are you shopping in?
  • gxorlrgxorlr Member Posts: 16
    $47,300

Do you get Navigation, Rear Ent System, Third row? List whats included in "etc" that way I can give you my $0.02! Rosen is an after market DVD system. I prefer factory installed Rear Ent System. But then again its your preference.

The options include nav, dvd player, 3rd row seat, rear spoiler.

I'm live in PA but will buy in NJ, much cheaper.

    Which NJ dealer is this?

    Hello,

I was wondering what price I should expect to pay for the base 05 GX (MSRP $48,737. The best quote so far that I have received was ~$44,000, plus tax and fees. Can I do better? Also what about the 4Runner, same engine and about $9,000 less or so. Both are made in the same plant in Japan. The Lexus version is much more luxurious, but is it worth it. Has anyone else cross shopped the Lexus GX and Toyota 4Runner? A 4Runner can be had under invoice with the current rebate. Any thoughts? Thank You.
  • mdgxmdgx Member Posts: 8
Have a 05 GX. When looking for new SUV for wife drove LX330, 4Runner, Highlander, Volvo. In any case the 4Runner is a much more utilitarian option. Instrument panel, switches (very strange switches) are all designed for a 30 something buyer not a luxury truck buyer.

In comparing the 4 runner to options (and not wanting a 2nd GX) we chose the Acura MDX. I think the clear choice around $40 k is the MDX, and around $50k the GX.

We found a dealer in Denver area that had a Sport pkg (from a Dallas dealer). While we were writing an offer another potential buyer was already test driving (only 1 sport on the lot). Siulver exterior and dark grey interior -awesome; can't say enough about how I like the dark wood interior. We were intending to shop and ended up buying. We paid sticker, but the experience at the dealers with every person was absolutely top-notch (Kuni Lexus).

Today I was quoted a lease for $685 per for 36yr/15k miles. MSRP 48k less 2k. Sounds high, any thoughts? Heard 44k for same.

    quoted 50,300 (before tax) on a 05'GX470 w/NAV, DVD and 3rd Row. MSRP 53,898. If not - what's reasonable?
  • mac14mac14 Member Posts: 1
Whether it's a good price obviously depends on where you're buying and what the availability is. Here in Los Angeles, the GX470 is really popular, but there's also a good supply of them, so my guess is you could get a better deal here than in a town with only one or two dealers. I just purchased a GX470 with navigation, DVD and 3rd row seats for 47,500 plus tax, etc., which is about $500 over invoice. All of the other initial offers I received were from $48,600 to $50,430. The quote you received sounds high, but that could be the result of the market you're in.

I was offered the following and would like any advice or suggestions if this is a good deal or not. If not, does anyone have suggestions on what should be a good deal on a lease program? I also listed in detail what it includes:

    MSRP-$52,846
    YOUR PRICE-$ 49,846
    CASH UPFRONT-$2,458
    PAYMENT-$714 = TAX = $768 X 35 PAYMENTS

I also just got an offer from another dealership for $699 for 36 months.

Hello, I am in the market for an 05 GX470. I got several prices, but the least expensive was $47,000 + tax and title. Another dealer, closer to my home quoted $47,800, but said I would only be able to get a loaner car during service if I purchased from him. He also said the dealer who gave me the $47,000. quote was unscrupulous and maybe I wouldn't get what he promised. What do you think? Thanks
  • lexuslusterlexusluster Member Posts: 2
You and we have no way of knowing if the dealer further away from home is unscrupulous or not without additional information. It's a judgment call if the second should be saying bad things about the other; maybe they would say anything to keep from losing a sale, or maybe they are accurately depicting the other dealer. Over the years, the loaner could be worth $800. Sorry not much help

Please let us know what options are on the GX you are considering. The spread between the cheapest and loaded package prices can be up to $7500.

    Good luck
  • ssimmonsssimmons Member Posts: 2
Hi, and thanks for your response. The only options I have chosen are the navigation pkg., 3rd row seat, towing upgrade, rear spoiler and wheel locks. Now a dealer in my area just called, one week later and said he could meet this price. It feels too late because I don't want to reneg with the other guy, and I gave him a good faith deposit, (however, he assured me it was refundable if I changed my mind).
Now I'm in a quandry again.
If you have anything to add or any advice, I would appreciate. I really don't like this whole experience, but I do want this car and a good deal. Susan

Anyone can answer my question? When we talking about Invoice Price here, is it dealer's invoice (They showed me a formal print invoice of the vehicle) or Blue Book Invoice?

I just bought a GX 470 yesterday and here is what I got. I think it is a very good deal.

    Gross CAP cost: $46,000
    Lease term: 36 months
    Miles per year: 12,000
    Monthly payment: $618.10+$54.08(TAX)=$672.18
Cash upfront: One month payment + License Fees + Document Fee = $1,149.00

Actually I paid $323.00 over dealer's invoice or $901.00 over the Blue Book Invoice.

I got this GX470 from California Bay Area with following features

Total Vehicle Base Model ----- $46,225.00
    Navigation/Mark Levinson Audio Pkg ----- $3,050.00
    Third Row Seat ----- $2,030.00
    Preferred Accessory Pkg ----- $323.00
Hitch Bracket (does not include Ball Mount) ----- $50.00
    Destination Charge ----- $650.00

    Total MSRP is $52,237.00

I am looking to purchase a 2005 GX470, is it OK to use 87 octane gasoline or do I need to use a higher grade? My dealer said that 91 octane or higher is required for maximum performance but that 87 is fine according to the Lexus manual. What do you use??

We are about to buy GX 470 and considering the sports package. We drive thru a lot of winding mountain roads and are eager to reduce body lean. Does anyone know the impact of the 2005 GX 470 sports package on reducing side-to-side lean on turns? Consumer Reports said it should reduce body lean on turns but our dealer was not so sure. Thanks.

I am having a hard time getting any type of bids/pricing info here in Dayton, OH.
We have only 1 dealer. Edmunds nearest partner is Clevland/Akron.

Is it reasonable to expect the Dayton dealer to come close to or match Edmunds TMV pricing?

    Does Saturn sell Lexus? Help!

    Hi, Roni!

I recommend turning off your caps lock as people tend to ignore messages containing all caps. Sparse and well placed emphasis will attract attention in a more appealing manner.

    Hi:

I'm interested in the GX 470, but would like to negotiate a little with the dealer. My local dealer may not be the best place to do that.

The problem is with options. The GX is apparently mass produced with third row seats. That adds about $2,000 to the MSRP. Also, I would like to get the navigation package that includes the upgraded Anderson sound system -- about a $5,0000 add-on to the MSRP. I can get the invoice for the base model, but can't seem to find it with those options.

Does anyone know what the invoice is on a GX with those options? Can anyone give me any experience with a purchase and/or lease with that configuration?

Also, I'd be interested in any suggestions for dealers willing to "talk" in the Northern New England area (NH & Mass)

    Thanks

    Hello:

I just wanted to pass along the outstanding buying experience my wife and I had at Ray Catena Lexus in NJ. After several months of negotiations in the Washington, DC area we were forced to travel out of state to purchase our new 05 GX. We haggled and haggled painstakingly with local dealers but in the end made our purchase over the phone in 20 minutes, out-of-state. I sent an e-mail to the Internet Sales group at Ray Catena and they returned with a phone call in less than 30 minutes. I mentioned this web site forum and started the negotiations. In less than 20 minutes we agreed upon a price and the vehicle was reserved with a 500.00 deposit. We waited about three weeks for our car to arrive at port and the dealership kept us informed about the delivery date.

We opted for every option except DVD, the color is Blizzard Pearl and we paid $47,000.00 before taxes, MSRP $52,888.00. This price beat our local area prices hands down! Ray Catena Lexus picked us up at the Amtrak station in Trenton, NJ, transported us to the dealership, complete the paperwork and we drove our new GX 250 miles back to our home. GREAT RIDE HOME!

This dealership is very prepared for out-of-state purchases and completed all the necessary paperwork to obtain MD tags and registration in a timely manner. I would highly recommend a call to them if you're within driving distance distance to Monmouth, NJ, you won't be disappointed.

Good luck with your purchase and give them a call!

    Tom

Congratulations! I know you've been mulling over this purchase for awhile, so I'm glad you found recommendations on this Forum helpful in your purchase. I'm sure Ray Catena Lexus will be grateful for the free advertising :)

    I purchased an '05 GX 470 with:

    Navigation / Mark Levinson audio
    Third Row Seat
    Rear Seat Entertainment (DVD)
    Hitch Bracket
    Hitch Receiver w/Ball Mount
    Rear Spoiler
    wheel locks
    exhaust tip
    cargo net
    carpeted cargo mat

for $47,514, from the excellent people at Putnum Lexus in Redwood City. With tax and licenses it was $51,482.62 out the door. Edmunds doesn't list the invoice on the rear spoiler, but I think it's about $345, so that would put me pretty darn close to invoice.

I wouldn't have gotten such a great deal if it wasn't for being prepared, with much thanks to Edmunds.

I am in the Market for an 05 GX470. I visited the local dealership in Dallas today and was quoted a $54.8K price for the GX loaded with:
    Navigation / Mark Levinson audio
    Third Row Seat
    Rear Seat Entertainment (DVD)
    Hitch Bracket
    Hitch Receiver w/Ball Mount
    Rear Spoiler
    wheel locks
    exhaust tip
    cargo net
    carpeted cargo mat
That's so far from what I'm seeing on this forum I don't believe negotiating it down is possible. Any advice for the Dallas area buyers ?

Try emailing different dealers and make them fight for your business rather going to the dealership. Tell them You've got a quote for this much, can you beat this price?

I just got mine at Lexus of Glendale, I was dealing with their business development department. You talk and they listen.
I got the car very close to invoice but what got me was the willingness to listen in what I have to say.

I look forward to servicing my car there and I hope their service dept is as good as their sales.

BTW, Thanks to edmunds.com's forum, I was able to confirm that I got my car at a great price. :)

emailed and called all the local Lexus dealers, including the dealer I got my
rx300 from a few yrs back, and NONE of them were able to provide a lease
    price even close to RC.
I'm paying $630 mth 8.5% NY tax incld, for 27mths -0- down $1200 out of pocket for bank fee + MV + sec dep
Options include: 3rd row seating, spoiler and tow ready

Got a deal from a MA dealer - GX470 + Third row with AC package (with cargo net and floor mats) + Rear spoiler + Towing prep. Dealer will sell for invoice + 600, which came out to $44,200. The kicker is invoice does include a $598 LDA (Lexus Dealer Advertisement) charge.

Dealer stated that they "MUST" pass LDA to comsumer. I thought $600 over invoice is a reasonable deal but if they slap on that LDA it it $1200, which I believe is excessive.

I tried to walk out of the negotiation by refusing to pay LDA, dealer wouldn't bend. I still have a hang over why should consumers have to pay LDA, on the other hand, we would not know of the charge if the dealer did not disclose that information. Attempt to contact Lexus directly regarding this issue was unsuccessful on the weekend.

Question is - is LDA a legitimate charge? Is it fair to pay LDA? or should I walk if I am forced to pay LDA? Your Help is appreciated. I have till end of 5/15 to make my decission. But already put down $1000 refundable deposit.

a sales consultant from Putnum Lexus told me that the invoice for the "Loaded" GX470 was $47664. So you got below invoice:) How did you negotiate to that price? Also was this from their internet sales manager? I got an initial quote for 1,500 over invoice.

I purchased my Ash Blue Mica GX this weekend for $47,219 from Arlington Lexus. It has Nav, 3rd row w/ac, tow package(and ball mount), accessory package, spoiler, and chrome tip. Thanks for all the postings on this site! I couldn't have gotten this much off of MSRP without all the postings out there. Kudos to Arlington Lexus for superior customer service and a smooth transaction. :)
