I remember you saying you have a treo 650 & will be testing connectivity real soon. How did it go?
I had a chance to try a 650 on my Crimson Red M35. It connected & before making a call, would disconnect. Same thing happened several times, never able to make a call. I do think this phone did not have the latest firmware upgrade.

Who's the provider you got your Treo 650 through? Verizon doesn't yet have it here but will shortly. Sprint has it, says it's compatible, but Infiniti says spring has NOTHING.
You should have 14 days to return it, no questions asked. I'd sure take it back and try another tack.

Also sport/tech/journey
I just went to a local Sprint store, an employee just got a 650. He was curious, so came to the car for 10 minutes. At Sprint have 30 days to return.
I also wrote Infiniti, they said keep checking the bluetooth web page. Nothing new.
Question: Has anyone found a phone that uploads the phone's contacts to the car?
Question: If you get an incoming call (with a known phone number in your contact list), is the caller id displayed (just number or actual name)?
Question: How is the quality of the other person's voice? I paired up a Motorola and it sounded awful!
Please specify the model of the phone & the provider.
Thanks,
Norm
I think the clarity is typical for a speaker phone. Others don't seem to like it.
As to the BMW 3 discussion: I had a 328i that did fine in the winter (MI) with the all-season tires. It just takes a little practice when the roads get icy. That said, my current M is a lot more fun to drive (both felt like they were on rails). I also did not have any major problems with the 3.
Overall I love the car. It's so loaded (I got the tech and journey packages) that it will take a few weeks to get fully oriented.
One thing to note. I did notice when driving home at highway speeds a slight vibration in the steering wheel. I called the service rep and he said that sometimes the new cars get a slight flat spot on the tires if they have been sitting for a while. He said to drive it for 1000 miles and see how it feels after that, My previous car was a BMW 528i that was always very smooth on highways. The tech also said that the M35's 18" wheels and tires give the driver more road feedback than the 16" I had on the BMW.Has anyone else experienced this sensation. Mostly at the 65-75 MPH range.

If the car really did sit for a long time without the tires being overinflated to prevent flat spots, then yeah, you might have flat spots. On the other hand, it could just be that your tires are still grossly over-inflated. I would get it checked out immediately just to be sure it's not a manufacturing defect.
What are your RPMs at 80mph? I'm at 3000 even. What are you guys experiencing?

According to my reading of this (and other) information, I believe that the Manufacturers actually perform the tests, according to EPA specifications. They submit the results and supporting data to the EPA.
EPA does perform some tests – a small percentage, last I knew – partly to verify the accuracy of the manufacturers’ data.
EPA does have Enforcement Agents that can inspect facilities, etc.

Believing that “getting caught” falsifying and publishing EPA numbers would be something manufacturers would not risk . . .
How is the road noise level in your M35x? I am close to deciding on M35, but being the first year of entry, trying to get some feedback before putting down 45K.
5/6 156,33
4/29 150,28
4/22 153,29
4/15 162,28
4/7 165,29
I wish there was a 6th gear for high speed cruising at lower RPMs but the engine does produce a nice growl and it's only markedly audible under hard acceleration. After all, the car is 4,004 lbs...a lot for a V6 to haul, the fact that it does it so well is impressive.

Infiniti of Scottsdale in AZ
Not looking forward to waiting 2 - 3 months, but glad that I finally made a decision. Can stop spending so much time doing all the research.
I did check the tire pressure and all tires were at 35 psi. I only have 180 miles on the car and will do some additional highway driving this weekend. Part of the problem may be my getting used to feel and the lightweight aluminium suspension of the Infiniti as opposed to my previous 5 series BMW, but I don't recall the drive being like this in the test cars I drove before buying my M35x.
I showed the car to some of my friends I golf with and they were very impressed and a bit envious. Aside from this, I absolutely love the car.
After sitting for awhile? A brand new model hot off the boat and out of the showroom and he says "sitting for awhile"? I rest my case. Bart
I'm not inclined to wait after making an order. I want it NOW, or potentially never.
Bart
I probably could have gotten a little more off MSRP, but this was the first time I ever really negotiated for a car, and I don't think I did too bad.
Have any of you experienced any other break in issues of your new car? Someone had mentioned that the catalytic converter emits a smell when the car is new.
Here is the response I received this morning to a post I made on the PalmOne forum regarding compatibility of the Treo 650 with the M35x. I still intend to download Palm's car kit to see if I can get partial compatibility. I suggest that current 650 users and those who want to buy one express their dissatisfaction with Palm over bluetooth compatibility,
PalmOne forum answer:
The short answer is that the Treo 650 is not currently compatible with the new Infiniti automobiles (I have a 2006 M35 which is supposed to arrive within the next couple of weeks-- tested a showroom model with my 650-- it choked). You might want to do a search in this forum on Infiniti and BMW to see the fairly extensive discussion of this issue over the past month or two. Some opinions have it that PalmOne will 'eventually' issue a new driver (car kit) for the Infiniti, BMW, Land Rover, etc., but there is no certainty of this. What's particularly discouraging is that many other cell phone manfacturers (Blackberry, Nokia, Motorola, etc.) have phones that work just fine with Infiniti, etc.
Had mine for 3 weeks now and absolutely cannot get enough of it.
I wanted a 2004 corvette, a H-D Low Rider and maybe a sport UV---with this car I get all 3---wow!
Just wait.

$$$ is not an issue if I go M45 (non-sport) w/ journey & tech OR M35X w/ journey & tech. The boss wants the security of AWD, i tend to lean towards the bigger engine. Today I drove the M45 sport and thought its just too firm a ride for my daily driving (I put on appx 25K per year). I'm trying to find a review of the M35X which posts some performance stats - anyone have any info and/or links? Also - what kind of mpg are you guys getting w/ the AWD?
Any input is appreciated!

I am always thinking about options--
#1-I'd rather fully fund my Investment account or retirement plan with the extra $386 per month ($1015 - $629= $386) that I don't have to pay for the miles I don't drive. I am sure that my return in them is much, much better than the 4.8% rate I am paying to use Infiniti's car for 39 months.
#2--I leased it because I've never owned an Infiniti or a foreign car for that matter--I've had (6) Cadillacs in the last 20 years--some leased, some purchased---some new--- some 2 years old--It took quite a leap of faith for me to get into a foreign car to begin with. Actually 2 of my clients have owned Infiniti's and have raved about them for years.
#3-A certain safety factor in that if I want to buy the car at the end of the lease, I have the option to buy it OR I can just re-lease or buy another one then if I still oove the car in 3 years.
#4-I write off 90% of the payment as I am self employed and drive only 1/2 mile to work--most of my driving is to client homes/offices.
#5-Your use of math is a bit tainted unless of course you factor in the pleasure factor of being able to drive anywhere whenever you or your job takes you--then, I guess you're correct in that your avg. cost per mile is lower than mine---I wonder what the value of my car will be in 2 years with 12,000 miles on it compared to yours with 60,000 miles on it. Then and only then will we be able to see what the true opportunity cost is between us and the way we drive.
PS--You didn't mention what your residual is at the end of your 24 month lease--That's the X factor to see who get's the better end of the math quoram you've mentioned here.
I still love the car though--I mean I wish I lived 15 miles away from work so I could enjoy it more! But theres a heck of a difference between pleasure and mathematics.
I am getting about 23 MPG on the highway--driving about 70 mph most of the time and about 15 mpg in the city---I have operated the car for 3 weeks now and absolutely love it.
The m45 's ride was much stiffer and the tires were a little too slick for me for winter driving--factor in that I would've had to get other tires and maybe rims for the winters here in NW Ohio and my mind was easily made up to go with the m35x---softer ride no tire hassles and all -wheel drive too.
Hey I live in a 1 horse town but you should see all the looks I get when I stop at the only stoplight in town too!
Let's face it --if you want total performance--IMO the m45---if you want flexability and some still great performance then IMO the M35x would be a good bet too!
The M wins out over my former bimmer and the 530 in about every other way I can think of. The interior on the M is so much nicer and more functional, the car delivers tremendous torque and acceleration, it looks awesome, and is just an all-around joy. I absolutely love the M and consider it the coolest car I've ever owned.
If I could sum it up, the things I liked better about my Bimmer than the M are as follows: smoother, quieter ride; better sound system; better heated seats; rain sensing wipers.
The M wins on everything else (I would say the climate control might be a tie--I kind of miss the Bimmer's "super-cooling" AC feature).
I have no reason to BS anyone as I have my M35x for 38 more months, and I'm looking forward to every minute of those 38 months. Although there is more road noise from the M, it isn't overwhelming and doesn't really bother me--it's just more noisy than the Bimmer. I can genuinely say I have NO REGRETS about my decision to get the M35x.

Worked perfectly for me 6 times. Once you do this a few times, will find can actually complete the car portion then do the phone portion.
I'm actually very pleased with the phone voice quality, better than I expected.
A few observations:
Can't test this with a 2nd cell phone inside the car. Get feedback with many echoes.
Cell phone signal strength shows up on the car's display--very nice.
Think can't change entry 1--Voicemail. I changed it, went back to Voicemail.
Very happy camper.
