Sorry for the delay. I was out of town (and used the Nav system very successfully in Raleigh). The system problem as I described it in Wilmington. It gives no verbal instruction and tells you to refer to the map. The map gives no guidance- only a map and it's up to you to look at the map and figure out where you are going.
Part of the problem is that it may get you within a few miles of the destination (with normal route guidance) and you think it will complete the job. But at some point, it just drops you. As I said earlier, the system is not complete for all areas.
At least you seem to be uninjured. That's more than a lot of people who are rear ended can say. On that note, I'd be interested in knowing some details about the accident (speeds, airbag deployment, what type/size vehicle hit yours) and how the M held up vis a vis your body inside the the car.
The M being a brand new model, there is scant safety info on it...and I represent enough people who have been seriously injured in auto accidents that I've become a bit of a safety freak with my cars.
"I actually got my Treo 650 to work today with my M35x. Amazing! Over the weekend I downloaded"
My Treo 650 also works in the manner described. While it's OK it is missing the most important feature, and that is to dial out through the car using voice commands. You can only dial out using the Treo handset. Also, no address book integration. It does pick up incoming calls and will take control of a call you make with the handset. OK...but not great.
Can you tell me who is saying Infiniti will soon support Treo 650? I've been unable to get any sort of confirmation.
Did you ever get to visit those dealerships? Was the Invoice +800 for the M35 or M45 ? I was quoted $3140 off of MSRP ($1436 over invoice) for M45 (NAV,JOURNEY,MATS) by S. They seem very patient and cooperative via email correspondence. Would like to know more about them.
"Perhaps if you lived here in Ohio (last one out get the lights) and knew just how bad our highway infrastructure had become over the past several years, you would look at the wheel and tire insurance as "smart money."
I doubt its as bad as PA's horrible excuse for actual roads, where "the more trucks the merrier" is the policy, and roads are NEVER actually fixed, just patched, and then the patches are patched. The state line at PA to Maryland is like a before and after photo.
I agree with you that the Treo currently does not take full advantage of the M35x especially with regards to the features you mentioned. However since I already own the Treo 650 I was glad to be able to use in the car.
I was told by representatives at a couple of the dealerships up here in New England that Infiniti had numerous inquiries regarding compatibility with the Treo 650 and that they are working to get it added to the list.
I'm not sure if you posted to bug Infiniti owners, but at the risk of sounding a little defensive of my new baby, here's two points to keep in mind:
1. Golden Steering Wheel for the Audi A6. Should it come as any surprise that a German-language newspaper has managed to gives its top award to Audi almost 50% of the time (13 out of the last 30 years)? I have no idea what cars won in the other 17 years, but I'm guessing that BMW and MB likely have been well represented.
2. WORLD CAR OF THE YEAR>>>Not to a Japanese Car. There were some great cars under consideration for this award. The M was not among them. Why not? It came along too late to be eligible. From the website:
"To be eligible, the car must be in production, and sold in at least five countries total on at least two continents. Since cars are introduced in different countries at different times, a new car would not be eligible until it is available in the minimum number of markets. For example, if a car is introduced in Japan this year, and in Europe and North America next year, it would not be eligible for the awards until next year. New vehicles that first satisfy this criteria between January 1 and December 31, 2004 will be eligible for the inaugural 2005 WCOTY awards."
Don't get me wrong. The A6 is a great car and is award-worthy. I just wanted to add my $.02, since the M was not a contender for either award.
I opted FOR the coverage ... another lease add-on. However, the wheels aren't cheap (I had one on a Corvette trashed) and replacing the tires is ~ $800 at lease's end depending on wear. For $25 per month I'm also protected against door dings, etc. Is it a ripoff? Of course it is. If it didn't favor the dealer they'd never offer it. But I've heard enough stories of ugly add-ons at leases' ends to accept a small increase in cost and then tell them to be fruitful and multiply, should they want to extract more.
Jeff ... condolences. The dealer from whom I bought my M-car had another "demo" on which a customer decided to try the braking power. $15K later the rear of the car was rebuilt. (I insisted on seeing the wreck before taking delivery on my car. It's a good thing you have a sense of humor.

Additionally the GS, and I'm not sure but I dont even think the RL\Honda Legend could make the cut. So saying that the A6 is "world car of the year" when half of the worlds cars in the class at least werent considered doesnt exactly mean much.
I think I'm convinced (though I'll look at lease deals in July when my present lease ends). But I think an M35x premium, black and rosewood interior. Three questions:
(1) Can anyone post good pictures of the spoiler? Have you seen it? How's it look? (2) how about the chrome wheels? (3) Umbria Grey, Twighlight Blue, or Diamond Graphite?
I know each is a matter of personal preference, but I am interested in some feedback. All I've seen in person is diamond graphite. Haven't seen a spoiler. Saw chrome at the auto show, but don't remember very well.
Strictly on my own opinion, the lip spoiler accents the car very nicely. The chrome wheels aren't worth $1000 extra to get. In fact, I think the non-Sport wheels actually take away from the car's looks.
If I had to pick from the 3 colors you mentioned, I'd most likely pick the Diamond Graphite. The Umbria Grey is just your basic silver, but the Twilight Blue is nice.
it is missing the most important feature, and that is to dial out through the car using voice commands
Thanks for the heads up. As much as I'd like to get the Treo and lug one less piece of tech around, I'm not interested if I can't use the voice commands. My luck ... in a few weeks they will likely resolve this and I'll regret my haste. Life's full of its disappointments.
I have a black M35x (journey/tech) with a spoiler. The spoiler was part of the original deal, but I had the car for 1 week sans spoiler before I went back to the dealer to have it added (along with tints and the splashguards.)
After having the car for 1 week without the spoiler, I can definitively say that the spoiler (as well as the tints and splashguards) serve to give the car a much more aggressive, sporty look. Obviously, I highly recommend them to all.
I didn't go for the stock non-sport chrome wheels, figuring that I'd just get some unique aftermarket 19" chromies if I wanted to go that way, and the alloys would be better for NY winter driving anyway. The chrome 18"s I've seen do look good, but a 19" offering would probably "fit" better, looks-wise, given the cars higher suspension (vs. the sport version). At certain angles the 18"s can look smallish and there is IMO too much space between the tires and the wheel wells
I just got a call this morning from one of the dealers in the Boston area that knew I was looking for an Infiniti M35x in platinum with the journey, tech, combo. He has one coming in the first week of June. The MSRP with a full spare was $50,360 and they would take $3K off the price. He said that many of the other dealers in the area aren't cutting the price but they are.
I asked him what he knew about the Treo 650 working with the car and he checked with an Infiniti rep and called me back to say that Infiniti is planning a firmware update in the next 1-2 months and more phones would be compatible with the car, and that the Treo 650 should be included.

Yep. A very meaningful award, from a most respected source.
Thanks for the information. The Margi presenter-to-go is just what I have been looking for.
Is this a great forum or what?
Almost as good as the black on black M35 I picked up two weeks ago. Getting a lot of looks here in Newport Beach, CA even though this is the largest market for Mercs...

Now you've got me crazy! But thank you again for the update. It was inevitable that they'd patch things up sooner or later, and better sooner. This may get me to turn in the V710 and wait until summer. I've lived this long without a Treo and Bluetooth ... what's another couple of months?

I just ordered am M35x Nav, Journey in white w/graphite. I wanted to purchase the wheel and tire insurance and my dealer is clueless as to who offers it. They told me it must be a 3rd party product. I have bent rims on cars in the past and they are not cheap. Can someone let me know where to call to get this insurance? or is it from the dealer?
Can someone tell me more about the wheel and tire warranty? I just purchased an M#%X Saturday and my dealer does not know about this product. If it from infinity or a 3rd party.
Do you know anything about the infinity wheel and tire warranty? I put a deposit down on a M35x and wanted to buy it but the dealer did not know about it? If you could get me enough info so I can pull the info through the dealer I would be most appreciative. Is this from the factory, dealer or 3rd Party?
I want to get this added before the car is delivered.
I have found that cars that are ordered can sometimes be the best deals especially if the car is popular. The reason -- at some dealers and with some manufacturers -- is that a "sold" car ordered can increase the dealer's allocation and generally will mean the dealer does not have to floorplan the car, so there is no interest cost (or a lot less) as there is (or may be) for a car that has been in inventory for X period of time.
The best thing to do, despite this possible advantage, is to ask "if I order a car what will my cap cost be or what will my lease payment be" or whatever it is that you are trying to accomplish.
On the other hand, a car that can be sold today may also appeal to a dealer, especially if allocation is not a concern for his/her next allotment of cars.
The BMW dealership we just purchased from is "sold out" of the current new 5 series with X drive and all inbound cars are already matched with customers. To get a new 5 series with X drive will, from this dealer, be either an ordered car or a previously ordered car that the customer backed out on.
The Audi dealership too has 30+ A6 cars and more on the way almost literally every week -- the total number of cars sold at this Audi only facility is ~ 50 per month.
The chances of getting the car you want are slim, most people take either their second choice of color or they omit or accept an option or two.
When you're spending this much money, I still am amazed that people will just take what is on the lot instead of ordering and waiting 3 months or so.
"When you're spending this much money, I still am amazed that people will just take what is on the lot instead of ordering and waiting 3 months or so."
I agree with you. Thats why I generally stay away from traditional leasing, because I think thats a major reason why people settle - their lease forces them to. If you buy on the other hand, the car is yours for however long you please, and thus 3, 6, however many months long the wait is doesnt matter. Then again, I keep my everyday car for 5 years or more, and buy and sell used sports cars more often than I probably should, so perhaps I am in the minority when compared to most folks here as well.
Can someone let me know where to call to get this insurance?
It's called an Executive Lease Coverage plan, so it's likely offered for leased vehicles to avoid excess charges at lease termination. I'm unaware of who (if anyone) offers it for owned cars. Mine is through MPP, Mechanical Protection Plan. You can look them up on Google and call them for clarification but my guess is you'll find its only for leases.
I start looking 6 months before the lease is up and let the dealers know what I want and when I want it. Thus far I've gotten exactly what I want when I want it. You're correct, however; waiting until the last month of a lease to start shopping is a recipe for compromise.
I have seen every color possible due to several dealerships in Houston. I do not like Umbria Grey, it has a tinge of gold in it (it is definitely NOT a basic silver; Liquid Platinum is a standard silver). Twilight Blue is a nice color; very dark - it almost looks black on the showroom floor. My FX35 is Diamond Graphite and I would best decribe it as metallic gray.
Anyone have an idea on what are the more popular or hard to find colors? I bought a liquid platinum w/ black interior M35x two weeks ago because I wanted a change from my previous car, BMW 528i oxford green w/ tan leather. I am told that the diamond graphite is very popular.
Is it just my car, or do all M's have the following counterintuitive control:
When I use the toggle on the steering wheel to change stations, I can hold it up or down for more than a second and it will then seek the next higher (if I hold up) or next lower (down) station. But....if I just flick it UP, it goes to the next LOWER preset and vice versa. It just seems odd to me, so I was wondering if I had a wire switched around somewhere (and for the record, I am referring to my car).
I was planning to go there last weekend but couldn't. I won't go this weekend either. But they offered M45 sport+Tech for invoice + $800 if I ordered from factory. I also called guys at Lynnes in NJ and they first offered invoice + 2,500 but were willing to match on an ordered car. I don't know if any of these offers are real as they do seem low compared to what everyone else is getting so I will let you know after I had a chance to visit Salermo or Lynnes.

That’s how it works. While, I agree it may be counterintuitive, there is, IMO, a valid explanation.
The direction of the controls, when used for presets, is consistent with the on-screen menu display for presets. Up takes you to the lower numbered preset. That menu is shown on the screen when you press the radio button or the Preset, A-B-C, button.
Since the steering wheel controls are used to control EVERY visible, on-screen menu, this choice is really required for consistency with the entire M45 menu system.
When you press the steering wheel control up and hold, it goes to the very next channel with a higher number. In this case, there is no corresponding menu being controlled. While this is not consistent with the preset direction, it IS consistent, with just about every other radio control for up/down on channels.
As happens many times in software, there are multiple concepts competing for consistency.
What I might have done to help with this problem is to have shown the on screen presets with number one at the bottom, and number six at the top, so the steering wheel controls would always work as expected (consistently with other radios) and still be consistent with the on screen menu. Or alternatively used up and hold to get to the next channel with a lower number, and be consistent with the presets (but inconsistent with most other radios)
I’m sure some folks would have disliked those too. Sometimes software is hard.
Phila. area dealers stick to MSRP but I found a dealer outside of Atlantic City that moved off of sticker. It is Holman Infiniti of English Creek. We bought 2 (QX4 and M35X) from them and they had the best deal in the area.
Began negotiating in earnest towards the end of April and engaged three local dealerships (South Orange County).
First offer was $2K over invoice, another dealer then offered $1.6K over invoice, but on the last day of the month a third (hungry) dealer offered $1.1K over invoice and I jumped on it (no trade in, cash deal)
I am close to purchasing a M35. The deal is much and I do mean much better on the RWD than the AWD. I live in Pittsburgh and most of the inventory is AWD. Anyone have experience or thoughts on the RWD will perform in the winter in Pittsburgh? Thanks
I just ordered an AWD and I do know what you mean. I can only tell you that in NY, we have had quite alot of snow, and my old BMW M3 was horrible to the point of taking you life in your hands.
Bottom line is power and rear wheel drive are not designed for optimal winter handling.
If I were you I would go to a front wheel drive car like Saab 9-5, or Volvo S80 if the M35 AWD is too steep. I have owned both a Saab 9000 and an Volvo 850 Turbo. Both were fine in snow. I took them both Sking many many times and had no trouble keeping up with my friends in SUV's. I also burned lots less gas!
If you can wait a few months, I am sure prices will become more flexible one supply catches up with demand.
For anyone who purchased the Wheel and tire warranty can you please list the dealer name, state with phone number and if this board permits the cost of the tire and wheel warranty. My local dealer does not offer it and I would like to purchase it. I was wondering if I could buy it from another dealer.
I ordered an M35X and want to add this, the car is due in June 15th and I need to add it before I take delivery

Here are the details:
Speed: I was at a stop light = 0 mph, the car hit me going approx. 30 mph. Airbag: No airbag was deployed, probably b/c it was a rear collision. Vehicle: '99 Honda Accord Coupe -- the front of the car is low to the ground.
As hard as I was hit, and as fast as my body jerked forward, the seatbelts held me back as I came within inches of the windshield. Since the front of the Honda Accord was low to the ground, it ran up under the rear of the car, damaging the bumper, trunk, exhaust, suspension, and who knows what else.
Sue brotha sue....your neck has got to be killing you. Not to mention mental suffering.
Does the guy/lady who hit ya have insurance? Kid? Elderly? DWI? Just some shmuck who wasn't paying attention?
That sucks beyond belief, but thank God you weren't hurt.
Very truly sorry to hear it. And good job for not catching an assault charge for the beating I know you had to at least consider throwing to the moron who smashed you.
I do not know all of the particulars, but I'll tell you what I do know.
The company that offers the wheel and tire warranty is called ENTIRE.
Only dealers may sell this.
Any dealer may sell it for any car, however, but the car must be "as new" -- in other words if the car has 10,000 miles on it on the original tires, tough luck.
So, if you are wanting to buy this warranty, and I do think it is a good one -- you need to find an authorized dealer. I called a BMW dealer and she told me she could sell it for my new Infiniti or a new Chevy Cobalt, or any car just as long as it was "new" -- I will try to google ENTIRE and see what's what.
====
P.S. google produced results, but as noted, the warranty is available from dealers, not direct.
There was no listing of dealers on one of the web sites:

Thanks
First offer was $2K over invoice, another dealer then offered $1.6K over invoice, but on the last day of the month a third (hungry) dealer offered $1.1K over invoice and I jumped on it (no trade in, cash deal)
Just ten more days in May...
Good Luck!
Jeff
I ordered an M35X and want to add this, the car is due in June 15th and I need to add it before I take delivery
thanks,
Jeff
The M being a brand new model, there is scant safety info on it...and I represent enough people who have been seriously injured in auto accidents that I've become a bit of a safety freak with my cars."
Hope the M gets fixed up like new....and fast.

P.S. google produced results, but as noted, the warranty is available from dealers, not direct.
There was no listing of dealers on one of the web sites:
