If I order a car (2017 model) vs. taking one off the lot, what can I expect to pay in relation to the MSRP? And how does ordering typically work with a lease in regard to the residual and money factor? Do I negotiate at the time of order, or since delivery is 2-3 months out, do you wait until the car arrives? Thanks!

Can't help you with pricing, but I would suspect that there would be a smaller discount from sticker on the 2017 versus an in-stock unit.

Most brands allow you to either lock in the MF and residual when the order is placed, or use the MF and residual of the month when the car is delivered. Can't pick and choose.

Can someone confirm the money factor for the 2016 HSE and HSE Lux at 36/12? The quotes I got from the last three dealerships were .00275. Could they call be marking it up?

I show .00275 as the MF for all Discovery trims, terms from 33 to 48 months.

I am looking at a 2016 Discovery Sport SE like this one.

The dealer emailed me this lease quote. It doesn't seem like a good deal to me, but I wanted to see what everyone here thinks. It looks like people are pretty regularly getting $2-3k off MSRP.

I get the same payment.

The only way to make this deal better is to negotiate a better selling price. We don't track that, but if others have posted a bigger discount from sticker, you may want to ask for the same.

Any chance there are other LR dealers in SLC that you can get to compete against each other?

Starting my search for a Discovery SE that will sticker at 40.8K. Looking for 48 months/ 15K per year. Do the dealers deal? or is the lease based on the MSRP? What should I expect to get of the MSRP?

48/15 lease numbers on the SE are 51% and .00275

LUX: .00016 MF and 56% residual

36 months is the best term.

Dealer is providing $3300 in incentives
$2500 down

$439 a month

My math is showing it to be $382.04 w/ 8% NY tax rolled into monthly payments.

I ran the TMV through Edmunds and found the car to be $40416 before discounts. Dealer has been quite cooperative with me thus far in trying to make a deal. I just want it to be fair.

I mentioned that the base MF is .00029 to which dealer responded "right now we are losing $450 on the front of the car so we have to make it up somewhere so therefor our buy rate is .00059"

Net cap cost is 39665.

2500 covers most of taxes and fees and first payment.

That's often the case ... either a big discount from sticker or the base MF.

Any other LR dealers you can check with? Only takes one to make a deal where you get both.

How about for 33/12 and 36/12? I received one quote on a 2016 HSE for MF of .00034 and 61% residual for 33/12. It seemed kind of high, but the Finance Mgr stated that these are the going rates. I told him that I would let him know ....

Add 2% to go from 15K/yr to 12K/yr.

Thank you for the information, I appreicate it. I spoke with the finance manager and their figures were all over the place. Now I just have to find one that fits at our budget. He even went on to tell me that for someone to provide this information to me is "illegal". I said, ok

What is the adjusted cap cost, with all fees and taxes added in, less the $3500 up front?

And, as you can see, the MF is marked up.

Are there any other dealers you can reach out to? The competition will help you get a better deal.

Using the MSRP and "balance forward" prices, along with the .00060 MF and 61% residual, I get $557/mo.

Every $1000 the balance forward is reduced, the payment should come down about $30/mo (1000 / 33).

Be polite and ask for the adjusted cap cost ... there may be some other fees added in (acquisition fee) that are being added in and not disclosed.

The math is easy, once you have all the numbers. Dealers, as you are seeing, are not interested in providing them.

Scratch that .. my calculations were based on 36 months, not 33.

The base payment with your numbers is $603/mo using the higher MF; with the base MF of .00014, the payment drops to $566.

The $30/mo reduction for each $1000 up front is correct, however.
