i dont think so...its drilled into the roof.

even if you can, i wouldnt...it may affect the corrosion warranty, since you will be exposing bare metal.

Thanks, I won't even try.

Thanks centralcal....Valencia doesn't have the truck with options that I want...BOO! Palmdale is an option, but not the color I want.....

I've sent out inquiries for quotes to Duarte, etc, but no one responds!!!

Did you have to purchase more for the XM other than the service to have it work?

Thanks again for your input!
• centralcalcentralcal Member Posts: 215
They didn't have the truck i wanted either, I found one in LA and had them get it for me after we agreed on the price. You don't have to activate the XM if you don't want. You can sign up on monthly or yearly basis. The longer you sign up, the cheaper the monthly rate. I pay $8 a month. The rates are going up in April, but I have already paid for two years of service so it won't matter.

Hey Woodshop28,

I just purchased an '05 SE CC 4x4 Manual myself, with the power package installed. I remembered this thread and asked the dealer about it. He grabbed a fob from parts and tried to get it to program, but said the programming codes would not come up. Is there a trick to it? If so, I can get the dealer to donate a fob or two. I'd appreciate any info you could give me.

Thanks for your response. Can you tell me if you can turn these traction packages off?
Do you have to have the ABLS in order to get the Traction Package? The ABLS sounds like a great thing to have, but would be nice to turn off to have a little fun in the dirt some time.

Again thanks for your response.

Has anyone seen the hard bed cover that Nissan has for an accessory? Is there a website for this bed cover?

I'm planning on buying a Frontier CC LE and was wondering if anyone would know if some special financing or rebates would be coming soon. I see they have 2% financing for the Titan. If they had that on the Frontier I would buy right now.

Thanks Bob.
• centralcalcentralcal Member Posts: 215
My dealer had a crappy fax with pictures of the hard tonneau cover, it looked good from the pic. I spoke with Nissan but no one seems to know much. It is two pieces, it is not water tight (because of the seem in the middle). It locks and it should be compatible with the utility rail system. I am trying to find out if it can be removed easily or not. It looked like it goes over the bed rails. About all i could find out.
• bricker1bricker1 Member Posts: 11
Thanks for your help. The price for that type of bed cover seems very high.
• asaasa Member Posts: 359

I think Fronty's too new for special rebates and extra-cheap financing to be had. Such depends on how well Fronty sells.

You may try Rancho Santa Margarita Nissan
(Craig A. Repp, crepp@nissanrsm.com).
There's a toll free number, check out their website, www.nissanrsm.com
• centralcalcentralcal Member Posts: 215
I agree. It appears a lot of tonneau covers aren't going to work with the utility system also. I was checking what is available for the Titan, and most don't work with the bed utility (and they have been out over a year now). I guess it is either wait, or maybe go with a topper.

I have a very stupid question, and I can't find the answer in the Nissan brochures or website. If I get the XM Radio option, am I ready to go if I purchase the service? Or, do I have to buy a receiver and antenna as well? Nowhere can I find what's in the XM option...Thanks!
• danielacostadanielacosta Member Posts: 132
No I haven't changed the oil yet, but when I do I'll use the recommended 5W-20.
• danielacostadanielacosta Member Posts: 132
I believe the 4-wheel limited slip is always engaged, except the rear is disabled when the rear differential is locked. The stability assist portion of the traction package has a switch to disengage it if you desire.
• danielacostadanielacosta Member Posts: 132
Truxedo fits, locks, is water-tight, and is compatible with the utili-track. I have one and am very happy with it. Lots of compliments on the appearance. It is a soft cover, though.
• danielacostadanielacosta Member Posts: 132
I should have mentioned in my other post, Truxedo works with utili-track in the Titan, too.
• centralcalcentralcal Member Posts: 215
I thought someone posted you couldn't flip the bed extender with the truxedo because of the way it attached in the back. Is that true?
• rdphillrdphill Member Posts: 4
I am trying to decide between CC LE or NISMO. Now I must tell you that I will 99.9% never take this truck off road. I love the look of the NISMO package but don't actually want the stiffer ride of the off-road suspension. However, I like the premium wheels that come with NISMO. Is the ride really that much firmer? Does anyone know if "picking and choosing" from different options/packages is feasible? Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks
• centralcalcentralcal Member Posts: 215
If you get satelite radio, there will be a small black box on the upper portion of the passenger side of the windshield, this is the antenna. All you do is go the XM website and activate your radio. The radio is all set to go. They will tell you how to activate it when you buy the truck, but I think your radio number is on channel 1, you enter this and pay for however long you want the service. You pay for it all up front. I signed up for two years, it was just over $200 for activation and monthly fees. If you get the fosgate radio, the stering wheel controls are great. I have quit listening to the regular radio and you can flip though 18 present channels very easily. Also, the radio plays MP3 without trouble. It is great having 160 songs on a single disk (and it holds six disks)

I notice that not many people modify their Frontiers, at least not that I can find. Does anyone know if the fender flares from a 4x4 will fix on a 4x2? I have a 2004 4 cylinder and I love it but want to change a few things. Anyone ever taken the headliner out of a 4 cylinder (I'm wondering if there is power up there or if I will have to run a wire (I wanna install a powered mirror). Thanks for any help or comments

Thanks centralcal! Tomorrow is the BIG day when I go and try to buy my new Frontier at Nissan of Orange--only ones who responded to an email quote request.....off I go to try and whittle down a quote of "2% over invoice"....I know that sounds good, but when they tack on license, tax, etc (and even that dealer fee of $500 or so), the financed amt goes thru the ROOF!
Yikes!
Thanks again!

while its ok to recommend a dealership, you are not allowed to mention a salesperson or manager's name. its not fair to us, who cannot advertise ourselves on this site.
• centralcalcentralcal Member Posts: 215
Good luck. Remember everything in negotiable. I wouldn't pay for the dealer fees. Also, I bought the extended warranty, but initially they wanted $1800, I got it for $1000. Really check the bottom line before you sign, I caught a couple of things that would have cost me $$$$. These are great trucks. If you go offroading, you have to come up here to Pismo and go to the Dunes and the Beach, the truck eats up the sand.

It's true - according the to Edmunds Membership Agreement (link above left, this page), you're not allowed to "solicit or promote any products or services, self-promote, or implore readers to take actions that are intended to further a personal purpose." I wonder how that would apply to vehicle salespeople who seem to doggedly promote their particular vehicle brand, while flaming those who post with opposing facts and/or opinions.

It really makes for a rollicking Forum, though. I'm grateful for these forums, as I've learned quite a bit about vehicles that I own or am considering owning in the future.
• dbauerdbauer Member Posts: 416
you can promote vehicle brands all you want. thats the nature of the auto industry. what we CANT do is advertise or promote for direct individual financial gain.

BTW...the most avid promoters on these forums are the owners themselves.

I just checked the Titan website and they don't exclude compatibility, but I still wonder. On the Fonty, if the soft tonneau clamps leave the rearmost 7" of the track open, the bed extender brackets would fit in and it'd rotate. It wouldn't slide though.

I asked a salesguy last night and he didn't have a clue. He told me the tonneau frame is "bolted" *through* the bed rail. As much down time as salesguys have, you'd think they'd spend their time learning and researching. The guys at this dealership and the Chevy dealership seem to talk to one another rather than attempt to sell anything.

True, the bed extender will not flip with truxedo installed, but you can still use the utili-track.

I like the NISMO ride on-road; corners very well. Try one for yourself before you commit.
• wyldcat89wyldcat89 Member Posts: 8
in regards to the LE or NISMO questions, I have something to add. I have a 4x2 NISMO Crew Cab and to be honest, I go offroad only lightly for camping or fishing purposes. When I chose my truck, I wanted one with the possibility to handle snow or rough terrain that was occasional where I travel to, but I don't need to climb boulders like true offroaders do. I also liked the fog lights, interior, and blistein shocks. This made my decision easier.. and cheaper too, being that the NISMO was less expensive than the LE. The ride handling isn't as bad as some claim either, it's got a good feel for the road but it's not bad at all. I love it.
• brickersbrickers Member Posts: 12

ride wise the NISMO is not that rough at all, its not the typical offroad package that leaves you with backaches. I've driven both and really liked how the NISMO handled. Having stiffer suspension would make it corner and handle better. like you I'm also not one for bumpy or "rough" rides, but i found the NISMO handled rough roads fairly well.

Looks wise I don't like the roof rack that comes standard on the LE, and I also prefer the chrome front & rear bumpers, chrome side mirrors & door handles. Im waiting to buy the NISMO after april because that's when they'll come out with the chrome side mirrors and door handles, the ones out right now come with black door handles and mirrors making it look like an XE or SE, to the untrained eye. good luck
• aeharryaeharry Member Posts: 1
You are ready to go, the antenna is typically on the roof and is a small black piece that looks kind of like a paperweight. If you buy a new vehicle with this included you usually get (I think) 3 months free then you pay monthly.

You bring back some memories. I grew up in Fresno, and we'd often get up at 3am to drive to Oceano Beach for the day, drive a couple miles south from the ramp there and do some clammin'. The afternoon was spent out at Pismo or Avila fishing. I'd have to say though that the most fun was renting those dune buggies. Do they still let you do that? I haven't been out there in years! :-(

Probably old news, but I said I'd post an update.
Part # 14010-EA200 (same as in the TSB) fixed the rattle problem.

coveredi,
This is what I did to program the FOBs. I used two fobs for a Murano that I bought from Ebay for 15 bucks shipped.

1. Close all doors
2. Insert and remove the key from the ignition key cylinder more than six
times within 10 seconds.
(The hazard warning lamp will then flash twice.)
Note:
Key should be withdrawn from ignition key cylinder completely each time. Don't go too fast, or it won't work.
3. Insert key on ignition key cylinder and turn ignition key switch to "AAC" position.
4. Push a button on the Fob. At this point, the oldest ID code is erased and the new ID code is entered.

If you want to program another one, Go to step 5.
Otherwise, go to the last step.

5. Unlock and then lock doors with lock/unlock switch on drivers side.

6. Push a button on the fob. Hazards will flash twice. The second fob is probrammed, now.

7.If you want to do more fobs (up to 4), go back to step 4

8. Open the door. You're done.

Yes. I take the truck out on dunes (and you can rent ATV/Dune buggies). Luckily there is no leaks like the Taco because sometimes you have to cross a small river to get to them. The water has been as high top of the tires and when the tide is high, you have to drive through the tide also. Getting ready to buy an ATV to take out there (I don't get to crazy with the truck). The tailgate is very heavy, so hopefully it won't bend like the Taco also. It is really a great place here:)

Hey hows the truck running now?so what do you like about your truck, need more input.I realy want one,I'm tkinking around June ,July. I'm thinking they should have the knock/rattle all fixed by then, what your take on it at that time frame of mine with the K/R.

Thanks

To me, the distinction between LE and NISMO is "luxury cruiser" or "useful tools"?

NISMO comes standard with alloy wheels but if I remember correctly, LE also comes with alloy wheels (just different number of spokes). NISMO will also have skid plates, stiffer suspension, a locking differential, and higher ground clearance (with the King Cab). None of the latter are for looks, so it sounds like it's the 6-spoke wheels you like most about NISMO. Hey! Could it be the decal? ;-o

The NISMO ride is noticeably firmer when going over bumps. I preferred its ride and did not consider it "harsh" or "unforgiving" or any of the other negative terms some reviewers have used. But it rides more like a truck than the other models, which to some people will be a plus, others a minus. You really need to drive both versions yourself, as it's such a subjective choice given that you do not intend to go 4-wheeling.

One huge distinction between LE and NISMO is that LE only comes with an automatic transmission. If you want a stick, your decision will be made by that alone.
• midnightsunmidnightsun Member Posts: 92
Now you've done it! I just can't wait to see the outraged responses from certain Tacoma owners and wanna-be-owners.

How do you like (or dislike) the tires, for uses other than on sand dunes? I assume you are airing down for the dunes?
• coveredicoveredi Member Posts: 20
woodshop28,

Thanks a bunch! I'll try that. The salesuy at the Nissan dealer grabbed a fob from parts and went out to the truck to try and program it, but said the truck didn't prompt him like he expected, so he assumed there was no receiver for the signal.

Thanks again!
• rdphillrdphill Member Posts: 4
Actually the decal kind of annoys me. Hey look at me, I have a sticker. I just generally prefer the more rugged appearance of the NISMO trucks. You're right as for the skid plate, ground clearance, etc goes - I don’t need that stuff. This truck will be my daily commuter and the weekend trip to Home Depot/Lowes for mulch. I really can't understand how someone could drop almost 30G on something then bang it around in the woods but that just me - I'd go by a beater for that. As I prefer the auto tranny perhaps the LE is the way to go. Thanks for you input.

Am I getting this right? Are you talking about adding Keyless Entry to an XE? If so, Whoo-Hoo!
• coveredicoveredi Member Posts: 20
Sorry, but no.... It's an SE. Woodshop mentioned that he found a remote and programmed it to work on his SE. Mine has power locks, but they don't offer the remote keyless on the SE trim level. I'm hoping that getting a fob and following woodshop's instructions will help me make it work.

Hey guys, I'm less than 48 hours away from taking the plunge on a Frontier CC 4x4 Nismo. My only concern is with the ever increasing gas prices how accurate the 15/20 estimations are.

Could any of you with similar configurations post your gas mileage along with your total milage on your trucks? I understand as the engine breaks in, the MPG should increase.
• ageezerageezer Member Posts: 7
I think you will be pleased with the gas mileage on the Frontier. I have an '05 LE CC with 2700 miles and my mileage is running 17.8 city and 22.2 highway. Combined is 19.4. I admit that I am an easy driver and drive to get optimum mileage.....no hot-rodding. In comparison, my '04 Tacoma was a real piece of crap, rattles, leaks, noisy engine and bad seats. Good luck, I think you will really like the truck, it drives like it was carved out of a solid block of steel.
• badnessbadness Member Posts: 242
pal,if you can aford the truck, you can pay for the gas as we say,LOL> look back a couple of pages, I read awhile back that a few guys said it prety close to20mpg.
Hey I drive chevy S-10 it has a 4.3 in it V6,and yes the gas price's do suck its seems I'm always putting gas into it,this the first chevy truck I owned, had a 89,and 93nissan,your going to love your truck so don't worrie about the gas, just give up on buying lunch and going out for beers if you want too save the cash for gas,I know I do at these's times. as they Jack up the gas$$ ,blame Mr.Bush for this crap!! PS thats The Father and Son!!

hey good luck with your truck and don't forget too give us feed back for I will have cc,Le come July and I hope 2 that gas is not going to kill us all...

I like the tires. My truck is a daily driver so I don't want an aggressive tire (way to much noise) and they have handled the wet roads very well (no hydroplane). With all the rain in Cali, the sand is fairly packed so I didn't let any air out, also I have to admit I am kind of a chicken to get too aggressive with my $30K investment. That is where the ATV comes in, hard to cause to much damage and the final bill is a lot lower:)
• ricceesriccees Member Posts: 24
Sorry about mentioning a name. It's just that I finally found a person who really tried hard to get you what you want, very helpful, and no hard sell/pressure ('05 Black CC LE - love it!).
