2016 Toyota Tacoma Lease Questions

From what I understand, they are using a local bank to provide my lease terms - not Toyota. My MF is 0.00125 with a RV of 74%. I have a signed purchased order where we agreed to everything up front, from build to economics, and then the dealer placed the order. I'm going on 5 weeks now since the order and it's not expected to be at my dealer for another 3 weeks so it's a long process. It was a painful one to get the right car built too - Toyota does NOT make it easy. $500 deposit required to order.

You can definitely do better - just make 3-4 dealers compete for your business.

I assume the MF remains the same (.00190) but is the residual value different when comparing the SR5 DCSB 4x4 AT V6 and the TRD Sport with the same specs? Would be a 36 mo lease, 15000 miles per year in DuPage County IL. Thank you

SR5 - 70%
Sport - 68%

Yes, MF stays the same for all Tacomas.

Thank you for the prompt response. Why would the RV be lower for the TRD Sport than for the SR5? Does it have to do with where I live as well?

Those are the values that TFS assigns. Could be based on their view of reality, or a marketing program.

The residuals are nationwide for TFS.

If $4500 is due at signing, you can't subtract all of that from the Gross CAP cost. You have first payment and acquisition fee to pay, at least. Unless it's $4500 plus more?

Yes, MD is one of those states that taxes the full selling price

So, of the $4500 you gave them, $1942 went to taxes, $300 for processing, $324 for tags, and $600 for the acquisition fee = total $3166, leaving $1334 as actual "down payment".

Two more questions that impacts the calculations - what cab style is this, and is this 4x2 or 4x4? I'll assume double cab 4x4, as that is the only combination that specifically offers a manual transmission option.

If I use the 75% (!) residual and .00190 MF with your numbers, I get $258/mo - pretty close to your payment of $270. Reasons why there is a difference:

1. Might be a small difference in the adjusted cap cost
2. The MF may be slightly inflated
3. It could be a different combination of cab style and drivetrain, which would impact the residual value

Overall, $270/mo for a truck that stickers at almost $34K, in a state with a full tax obligation, is not too bad The $1334 down payment is shaving about $37/mo off your payment, which makes the true payment $307/mo - still a pretty good deal.

I wouldn't put a down payment down (cap cost reduction) on a lease. But maybe that's just me....

Of the $4500, only $1300 or so is cap reduction - the rest is going to taxes and fees that are due up front.

But, agree with you in principle - down payment on a lease would be lost if the car (er, truck) is stolen or totaled.

I ordered my truck on May 1 and still haven't seen it. I talked to the dealer today and all they know is the parts have been assembled. They cannot tell me any more than that. Pathetic!

Here is the "deal" my local Toyota dealer in middle TN offered me. I have leased more than one vehicle in the past few years and know what I'm doing and was fairly straight up about that from the get go.

2016 TRD Offroad w/premium tech pkg, sticker price $38,620.

I was quoted a residual of $28,171 which is ~73%, but here is the kicker: a .00300 MF!!!!!!

w/2k down, they were still bumping up against $575-$600 month!!! I told them if they could find suckers that would pay what has to be $200/mo in interest then more power to them, but it isn't me. I'm also pretty sure in TN we don't pay sales tax on the full amount.. so my dealer sucks.

I just picked up my 2016 TRD Off Road with a manual transmission. I ordered it on May 1, 2016 so it took about 2.5 months. The MSRP was $38,122 and the dealer took $2k off of invoice. I added the Tonneau cover, predator tube steps, d rings, air filter, etc. 36 months with just the first payment of $386 due at signing ($0 down) with 12,000 miles per year. Lease is through Toyota with a residual of $28,521.

Is anyone aware if you can combine the Grad Rebate through Toyota ($750 off) with the Costco Auto Program? The Costco program seems like it may be a good starting point to get "invoice" pricing on a lease and then possibly use the quote as leverage elsewhere?
