Hello Michaell, I am looking to lease a 2016 4runner limited with 3rd row in Maryland. Only other options are floor matts and cargo tray. I have started negotiating but this is the initial offer from a single dealer.
MSRP: $45,625
Sale Price: $42,700
Residual: $29,200

Research reveals 42978 as fair selling price. What do you think?

I'll assume 4x4.

.00190 and 72% (24/12) or 64% (36/12)

Be advised that in MD, sales tax is applied against the entire selling price, which makes your lease payment higher, relative to other states.

Yes 4x4. Asking for a friend of course. If one decides to lease a vehicle from a dealership in PA or VA. Are there still tax consequences to prohibit a MD resident from doing so?

I don't know ... you'd have to check with the MD department of revenue about that. Not likely that they would "waive" the tax obligation, however, if the vehicle is to be registered to a MD address.

Looking to lease a 2016 4Runner SR5 Premium in the state of MA - 36mo/12k miles. MSRP of $39,915. Negotiated to $37,822. They are quoting a MF of .00230 and a residual of $25,977. The discount off MSRP seems low and the MF is higher than the .00190 that has been noted on the forum. I plan to shop the terms to a few other dealers but would love to hear what other people are getting for discount and MF.

Hi,

South Carolina 24-12/15 and 36-12/15 please for 4x4 Limited.

Reading through your previous posts enlightened me to SET vs TFS. Interesting history. It appears SET only provides residuals, MFs are variable or set at dealer level?, and they use the 'old' way. What is your opinion of adv/disadv to the consumer with SET using their current leasing methods vs TFS?

NC is part of the SET distributorship.

I would doubt that you could lease an SET vehicle outside of their area (but, I don't know for sure).

Keep in mind, SET uses the "old" way of figuring residuals, only applying the residual to the base MSRP. While TFS switched to the standard method, last year. The residuals might not be all that different, in reality.

SETF sets the money factor and residual. And, yes, they calculate the residuals the "old way", which makes the numbers unreliable. You just have to ask the dealer. The main issue is transparency.

came to 608 with tax.

Any idea about the MF and Residual for a 2016 SR5 4wd Base in PA for 24 months and either 12,000 or 15,000 miles? From my understanding, the SR5 Base has the highest residual.

Also, does anyone have any clue about a Residual Value Buying Guide put out by Ally? They have some crazy residuals for the 4runner for 24 months. Something like 87% for 24/15,000 for the SR5 Base. Close to 10 percent higher than a Highlander. I don't understand the Ally process at all nor do I have a clue about their MF.

We usually see .00190-.00200 MF for the 4Runner.
We don't have the 4th quarter residuals, yet, but your 65% looks about right.

Payment looks about right, if $2000 is the total amount due at signing.
A bigger discount is the only way to lower the monthly payment.

Does that seem right? Bankrate shows $463 with the entire purchase amount taxed (I won't pay that much tax)

TTL would be minimal. Tax would be almost $0 since my trade is valued at almost the same. Tags are $26. I told them I wasn't paying any dealer fees, etc. MSRP was just shy of $40k, not that that means a great deal.

What should I be looking at for a good deal? I forgot to mention the one I wrote about initially was a KDSS model with a few other small options like navi, the tablet holder, exhaust tip, carpet mats and cargo mat, and wheel locks and includes the Keep It Wild discount but not my military discount.
