Wow, the MSRP is already plenty high. I'd rather get a CPO B8/B8.5 S4 in the 20's these days.

Consumer Reports agreed with me that the Sound System is a weak spot in the Optima. Funny how that works. I wonder if they correct that for the Stinger.

Well what else could you possibly buy for $62,000 other than a Kia, I ask you! B)

Truecar says I can get that same car for $205 below MSRP. Just sayin. ;b

Well, IIRC the PT Cruiser had ADM when it first came out. I never understood the “gotta have it first” mentality.

Same with the Veloster. When they first came out a guy I worked with absolutely had to have one. The dealer took him to the cleaners.

Saw a Stelvio in traffic today, running and driving, so it has that going for it.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,603
Hilarious. Hmmm let's see, I can pay 20% over MSRP or 60+K (which ever seems more ludicrous to you) for a nicely equipped new mild performance Kia from a dealer in Auburn, or get any number of CPO mild or moderate performance cars from prestige brands. Tough decision.

Not knocking the car as an object, but this is very ambitious, and dangerous. Equus and K900 aren't viewed as successful moves.

Yep, percentage wise, it was probably even more. I remember "Limited" models approaching 30K with the ADM. It was so bad local dealers were buying cars in Canada and federalizing the gauges, I kid you not.

I also remember 10K ADMs on the Crossfire and SSR.

I need to start a list of all the new (or kinda new) cars out I have not had a chance to check out, so I don't miss any at the car show. Off top of the head, there is:

    Accord
    Alfa Guilia and Stilvio
    Ascent (sube)
RDX (not sure if concept or actual production car)
    2019 Jetta
    Volvo XC60
    Stinger

Anything else that should be out, or at least teaser on the turntable, by the end of this month?

    In a word - lousy.

Kia has changed their lease programs to have very high money factors but large amounts of lease cash to offset. Adding $10K ADM just makes the lease payments that much higher.

a white GLC "coupe". Man is that ungainly looking. what a waste, and so much less practical.

And my first Giulia in the wild. Dark blue. Nice looking. Though at first from behind, I thought it was a TLX!

But those awkward "coupes" seem to be selling. BMW discovered a niche, MB decided to get in on it.

I notice most MB illuminated grille stars seem to be on CUV/SUVs, but lately I have seen an E coupe and cabrio with them. What an age we live in.

    @qbrozen,
I agree, it worked much better on slab sided trucks. The new ones have too many bulging parts.

Opposite end of the spectrum, saw a Lambo at that infamous body shop. Looked undamaged and/or already repaired in bright yellow paint.. All Lambo's look too similar to me to tell them apart.

Lambos are somewhat like Audi sedans (and now MB and BMW too) - which might make sense with their ownership. One sausage, different lengths.

Saw a new 911 Turbo S cabrio on the drive in. $203k to start...

Leave it to Porsche. You can one-up the Turbo S Cabrio guy by buying the Turbo S "Exclusive", a limited-production model staring at $258K. Wait, there's more! At $258K, it *still* has an option list you can check off to go higher.

A new Accord in red. Not sure what trim level, but front was not as jarring as the pictures and from the side the roof line just seems long. To me, not a huge difference in looks from 2017.

I saw one today too, parked outside Kohls. so someone must have bought it. Looked even odder in bright teal body with white roof. I pointed it out to the wife and suggested we get one. She just gave me "the look".

I am surprised by the lack of CH-R I have seen on the road - I rarely see one. I guess PNW drivers want something that's actually AWD. It's like Toyota was trying to compete with the Juke.
  • ab348ab348 Member Posts: 20,409
I saw one here very shortly after it was introduced but the only others I've seen are on dealer lots. I would guess they aren't selling well.

I saw a CH-R once, it reminded of the current Prius, in that it is designed to look like it had body damage right from the factory.

  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 33,788
I think (hope) that will drop drastically quickly once initial demand dries up.

So 41K units a year? Or was that a three month average or something? The amount I see on the road here anyway doesn't seem to match 40K units a year, but they might not sell here due to no AWD on a silly angry-faced faux-aggressive crossover.
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,691
I saw a few at the dealer. The one this weekend was the first I recall in the wild. Might have seen one that did nor register, but 2 tone teal and white top is hard to miss.

saw a pair of new white camrys today. An LE, with a rear end that was fine looking, pretty bland. Then an SE of some sort, with the black accents/diffuser butt that looks a lot flashier (more like a lexus actually). Something for everybody. Saw the nose on the LE. Not good, but looked worse with all the black plastic against a white car. I think this is a car that really needs to be in a dark color.

I've noticed the VW dealership by my work place is full of SUV selection. Probably at least 20 new Tiguans on the lot, maybe 30.

No, not a year. December 2017 was their best month:

I think Toyota should take your advice and beat Honda at the lawn mower game, and also make snow blowers while there at it. Motorcycles and sport-bikes next!

Yay, the first automatic sportbike with soft suspension and an aggressive face.

Speaking of bikes, I saw an electric motorcycle (kind of a dual sport style) today.

Saw a Stinger out front at a Kia dealer. Thought I'd be more wow'ed by it. The was another sedan(Cadenza?) near it that didn't look totally dissimilar.
